Guy this agenda never mature finish. Look the caliber of some of the players wey dem nominate. How Leicester City Mendy take get better season pass Osimhen? If Moses Simon, who we all know Victor surpassed in every way last season can be there then the exclusion of Osimhen from the nominees list is simply ridiculous.
elyte89: So u guys re using osimhen exclusion from nations cup as d reason y he wasn't nominated..... A quick question ...in recent years ,south American players have won d best uefa player...aw come dey won it,abi dem feature dem for uefa nations cup too?
raumdeuter: Today there is a news on homepage where Obi is denying that he never made the claim that investment in Breweries is 100M and blamed youths for it
Cadet football and senior football are worlds apart. I'm pretty sure if we check the squads of various nations that played in the FIFA U17 WC barely 25-30% would have gone on to have great football careers.
mostob: Kai....na Dani Alves we dey call this guy back then. A very decent fullbacks. SMH
Pep has enough in his arsenal (no pun intended) to get the job done. Guardiola would have assessed the strength of his rivals I'm sure. Probably feels they are still not strong.
andrewbaba44: Guardiola sharing players here and there
Fair point but the context of my paragraph which you highlighted is that Mikel isn't really a DM. He just performed creditably in a role he was never suited for unlike Oliseh who was an out and out DM who excelled in that role.
Ibime: On this point I will add that there is no way prime Oliseh will be in a club and the likes of Oriol Romeu and David Luiz will bench him in DM position
So although the plenty competition of Ballack, Essien, Makelele sounds like a good argument, the counter is that when all those players left, Obi was inadequate without them and could not even keep his place against yeomen and centrebacks. Mikel has been a bench player since January 2013 and even the Matic that finally chased Mikel away will be nicely benched by a prime Oliseh.
Joezinho: Boss,Keshi is greater. Although Yobo is Nigeria's Mr consistent, he can never overtake Keshi.. The very best captain ever for the Eagles was Keshi.. People like him come once in a blue moon. We were lucky and privileged to have had him as captain for the super Eagles..
Christian Chukwu, Stephen Keshi, Taribo West before Joseph Yobo...
Kabiru that they said he was already married with a toddler living in Oworoshoki
Unlimited22: Him own good sef, he was born in Uzbekistan in the former USSR.
If you want to see the godfathers of age cheating, check out the late Yemi Tella and his U17 world cup winners of 2007. Macauley Chrisantus, Yakubu Alfa and Kabiru Akinsola them.
Chief to be factual Mikel's stats in the national team are also as good as that of Oliseh. Obi dropped 4 assists in the 2013 AFCON in addition to one lovely pre-assist against Burkina Faso in the group stages. Mikel qualified Nigeria for every single world cup that he was involved in.
Yes Mikel didn't do as much as he could have done with the national team but consider the caliber of players Obi had to mention compared to the great talents Sunday worked. It will be easier to get more assists when you're playing with the likes of Yekini, Amokachi, JJ, Finidi than Brown Ideye, gabriel rueben, sani kaita etc.
Club football yes Oliseh tried but it wasn't all rosy. He was a permanent bench warmer in Juventus, played for Ajax that dominated a farmer's dutch league. His time in Dortmund was here and there plus Borussia was in decline when he was with them.
Mikel had world class competition in Lampard, Ballack, Kante, Essien and yet was able to enjoy a fruitful career with Chelsea. Considering that he didn't start out as a DM I think Mikel deserves his flowers.
For the record I also agree Oliseh was the better player but I disagree that Mikel was a mug.
Ibime: You might as well tell me Ikpeba is greater than Yekini. Run to Wikipedia and pull up Ikpeba trophies won in Europe.
Oliseh record and performance with Super Eagles far far outmatches anything Mikel can bring to the table.
Oliseh never failed to qualify Super Eagles to AFCON like Obi did TWICE. Oliseh never failed to qualify Super Eagles to World Cup like Obi did TWICE. Oliseh never failed to take Super Eagles out of World Cup group stage like Obi did TWICE. Oliseh never failed to make AFCON final like Obi did 6 times. Oliseh won the Olympics against more or less the same Brazil team that won the 2002 World Cup.
Arrogance of talking about something you never saw is not a good trait in a man. It's ego speaking.
TheLoneCitizen: He's one of the players I don't rate, because from his style of play, I don't understand why he scores so many goals.
However, the most important reason why Forest went for Awoniyi ahead of a cheaper Dessers and a proven Dennis (both on their hitlist) is that they wanted a player who would suit Steve Cooper's strategy: two-man attack. So with no change of system, he should do well.
Also Forest had a fan favourite in Keinan Davis, who is almost a carbon copy of Taiwo Awoniyi in playing style. Awo just far better finishing and chance creation. Another reason he should do well.
Again, Forest are PL relegation favourites and had one of the weakest teams in Championship top 7, so Awoniyi will be working with little expectations despite his record fee and should do well.
Lastly, with Cooper's attacking brand of football, I believe Awoniyi should hit 10+GA.

A leader The first One who opens the road etc
It is a common honorary title in Yoruba land. conferred by different obas or kings
Tinubu was given the title by the Oba of Eko( Lagos) and therefore is the Asiwaju of Eko of Lagos Town .
Many people assume he is Asiwaju of Lagos State or even Yoruba land . This is inaccurate
Tinubu no doubt aspires to be Asiwaju of Yoruba land
Recently in a time of crisis , he has gone missing. This would not be the first time. I should be clear to all right thinking Yoruba just now that he does not Si waju rara ati rara
Ero eyin ni Tinubu. Ojo si ni pelu
He has lost whatever respect he has and should quietly retire and enjoy his bullion
raumdeuter: Today there is a news on homepage where Obi is denying that he never made the claim that investment in Breweries is 100M and blamed youths for it
Almost all the South American countries we have played except for Venezuela have beaten us. Only victory we got were against Argentina and Venezuela. Unlike many European countries we've faced and defeated.
jihday: Paraguay ? Beat a very strong Bulgaria in 94, beat a very strong Spain in 98, unfortunate to loose to Sweden then drew a very good England team with an inexperienced squad in 2002. We’ve lost games against European teams but most were either unfortunate or very tough games unlike all the Argentina defeat and the Paraguay defeat, e dey be like walkover
Senegal have a few great players no doubt but as a team I personally think they are a bit overrated. The AFCON they won the only reasonable team they faced they struggled to beat. The same Egypt Nigeria beat and restricted to only 2 shots on target.
Senegal should be able to advance past the group stage but if they start slowly like they did at the AFCON they will be shocked.
mostob: thank you. Thats how everybody expected them to whoop japan during the last world cup. Dem used gidigbo scored 2 goals...by the time Japan settled and started arranging it for their body, 2 gials entered sharpaly
Chief Oliseh has his faults but no caps he's one of the best if not the best midfielders we ever produced.
Boss do you know what it means for a DM to give 4 assists in a tournament? Guy no be beans.
A level headed Sunday would easily feature for any of the best teams today.
Oliseh's poor attitude sometimes cost him alot in his career.
charlesemeka85: that guy na idiot. The ego and pride of this our 94 set too much even sometimes you will think they won both the afcon and World Cup at the same year
They are also one of the problems we have in our football circle that is denigrating the sport in Nigeria everyday
Olise was just an overhyped ndidi during his playing days and I will pick mikel ahead of him any day and any time
When it comes to footballing intelligence, elegance, charisma and finesse I will place jay jay,Kanu and mikel as the best we have ever produced as a nation
Oliseh no doubt has a great football mind but sometimes he doesn't know how to manage people especially in a team situation where you need to manage egos. This is where greats like Ferguson, Pep, Mourinho etc excelled. Know when to be harsh and when to be calm and nice. If most players don't like you then there's no way you can succeed as a coach.
Truidstar: Olise is an insecure individual. He needs constant affirmation that he is the boss. His man management skill leaves much to be desired. Wish him all the best in his new assignment. Hope he has learned from his mistake.
Personally would have preferred he stayed in the Bundesliga and really establish himself but hey it's his career and he knows what's best for him. Yes EPL is a bigger stage and potentially more financially rewarding but there is no guarantee that Nottingham Forest will stay up. That said I think Awoniyi's physicality will be perfect for the EPL.
charlesemeka85: The Union Berlin forward is closing in on a return to the Premier League as Nottingham Forest are close to sealing a deal
Taiwo Awoniyi may become Nottingham Forest’s first signing as Forest close in on a potential deal worth £17m.
According to a report by the Telegraph and what’s been trending across various Nottingham Forest media-related channels, the former Liverpool forward is on the verge of sealing his Premier League return.
Awoniyi was Nigeria’s top scorer last season across Europe’s five major leagues as his 16 goals helped Union to seal a place in next season’s Europa League.
The forward had told Soccernet in an exclusive interview that he had unfinished business in England and would fancy a move to the Premier League.
He moved to the German capital permanently last year after impressing on loan at the Iron Ones. In one season, he had done enough to be a cult hero at the club and become their top scorer ever in a single Bundesliga season.
Awoniyi was unable to make a Premier League appearance for Liverpool during his time at the club and was on loan across various clubs in Europe but with a major international outing in the bag, work permit issues are in the past and if the latest reports coming out from Nottingham are anything to go by, he may be set for a Premier League return.
Congrats to the young man. Pray he goes on to do well in Anderlecht and eventually break into the Super Eagles.
charlesemeka85: The 20-year-old midfielder follows the footsteps of many Nigerian greats that have played for the Sporting purple and whites
Super Eagles prospect Ishaq Abdulrazak has signed for 34-time Belgian champions Anderlecht on a four-year contract from Swedish side Norrkoping.
Abdulrazak moved to Europe in May 2020 joining Norrkoping from Unity academy in Nigeria. And he quickly slotted into the team, scoring two goals in 14 appearances.
The 20-year-old is an aggressive player with a lot of pace to burn. Also, Abdulrazak is quite versatile, switching between midfield and fullback positions with ease.
Becoming a first-team player at Norrkoping did not take him time, as he made 31 Allsvenskan appearances for Norrkoping in his second season.
His displays have been impressive, raising eyebrows at Anderlecht.
And in a release by the club earlier on, they shared photos of the 20-year-old in the club’s colors to announce that they had signed Abdulrazak. The midfielder joins on a four-year deal.
Stephen Keshi, Philip Osondu, and Celestine Babayaro are just some of the few Nigerian that have donned Anderlecht colors. And with his move, Abdulrazak joins the elite list.
The 20-year-old played for Nigeria at youth level, and if he continues to impress at his new club, it would be only a matter of time before he gets his first call up to the Super Eagles.
Thank you thank you for this. Really great podcast. Reveals so much about Oliseh and the way he is. Not a perfect man but you can say even if you didn't agree with him that any decision he took good or bad was for the best of Nigeria.
Hope our current team is watching this to learn how to keep each accountable not every time kumbaya and snapping picture especially if it will affect your performance.
Mujtahida: Hey guys, watch this hour long interview of Sunday Oliseh on the maiden edition of Emmanuel Babayaro's podcast with Edafe of Elegbete TV running the works. It's a delight, an absolute feast for any Super Eagles fan
