I agree 100%. He's the kind of foreign born player we need to tie down. I believe if he feels he will be given a chance in the SE he would be keen. Coach JP and Moffi should run the thing low key.

charlesemeka85:
I believe if the prospects of playing for us is brought to him he won’t hesitate to to accept it

We hv good advantage because he is not in the radar of the German FA currently and wasn’t capped in any of their youth teams. Also he is pals with moffi and bonke at lorient before he left on loan to Celtic this summer. I think it won’t be a tough decision for him to make

Having another cb playing in the ucl will be a welcomed development. He already has two goals in the Scottish league and played against shaktar donesk and Madrid in the ucl this season

4.5 organization and kitting of the national teams improved under him.

Unfortunately for him football is all about success so based on that his tenure was very poor. Our national teams from age grade to senior level didn't win much. Even the ever reliable Falcons experienced a deep. Most of the coaches he appointed let him down.

League football is still so so.

Financially the NFF attracted a lot of sponsorship under Pinnick, but my hand on my heart I can't say if everything was judiciously used.

For me I was a beneficiary of the Lagos state government paying my WAEC fee and the road in my street was fixed after years of neglect and disrepair.

larride:
I was born and raised in Ojodu Berger. Tinubu built Babs Fafunwa Millennium School in Ojodu, built a one story building classroom block in Omole Grammar School that I attended.

On the day he commissioned Omole Grammar School new classroom building, I remember how all the student went to welcome him from Omole estate gate to the school.

As per housing what was the population of Lagos then? Plus Jakande had the luxury of not having every man and his dog coming to Lagos almost every second. Plus the value of the Naira then was at per with the Dollar so Jakande had plenty to work with. In education that Jakande did fairly well in he built many basic cement block class rooms which were not ideal but ok for the time.

Jakande's problems to solve were more definitely different in shape and size to the ones Tinubu faced. Like someone said Jakande was working with a brand new car Tinubu on the other hand had to manage a broken down jalopy that wasn't far from knocking.

Jakande's generation of politicians were still relatively honest for sure.

BlueRayDick:
Herein lies the problem . Jakande solved a lot of problems without creating others in the process .

He solved a major issue in Lagos ( Housing ) . Jakande estates are scattered all over Lagos and indeed low income earners were the major beneficiaries . It’s not the houses being built nowdays already being pre-ordered by senior civil servants/ politicians and their associates . I know at least 4 elderly relatives who were beneficiaries of those Jakande flats .

Jakande could’ve decided to enrich himself like the other 18 governors who ruled during that time in other parts of the country , but he chose to work and allow his works speak even years after his demise . That’s a man of the people right there !

Tinubu had his good side no doubt , but he’s not the messiah of Lagos most of his fans/supporters portray him to be .

On a lighter note, going out this morning seeing blocked drainages causing floods here and there makes me wonder what exactly is Joe Igbokwe’s job. Is that man clearing drainages on the pages of Facebook or what ? grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 4:36pm On Sep 12, 2022
Jakande did well in his time and you can't take that away from him, but you can't compare the problems he tackled to the ones Tinubu faced.

Tinubu has used the state machinery to (allegedly) enrich himself and his associates but in the same vein his vision has created opportunities and avenues for people to make money so much so people keep rushing to Lagos for the proverbial golden fleece.

Through his vision of a Lekki free trade zone a port is now there, Dangote fertilizer and oil refinery is now there. Ocean surge that was threatening to sink the whole of VI is now prime estate in Eko Atlantic. Molues that dominated Lagos traffic replaced by BRT, rebuilt and modernized Lagos courts.

Like Ferguson and Manchester United team of the 1990s to 2010s you can hate and despise them but it will be the height of dishonesty not to acknowledge they were a great team. Like Tinubu I'm not a fan of the man or his politics but he has achieved many noteworthy things in his time with next to no federal support from Obasanjo that's fact. Some would claim it's because Lagos was capital as if other states don't have ports or federal assets of their own.

BlueRayDick:
No, I disagree with you.

Lagos had it's problems back then and Jakande sorted them. Jakande ruled at a time when Lagos population was described as getting overstretched . In fact Jakande had to cancel two academic sessions and reverted from the old day/evening school being operated back then.

The fact that other second republic governors couldn't replicate most Lateef Jakande did in their states shows the man is actually a performer and not because he came by some largesse we don't know about.

If Jakande had PR guys harping on how he tranformed Lagos (Like Tinubu's PR guys do with the IGR talk), maybe it would've been imprinted in our minds thatr Jakande is acutally a miracle worker (Of course without the gazillion IGR of Lagos state we read about everyday)

There's no disagree to agree anything Lagos belongs to Yoruba speaking peoples. As numerous and diverse as the different tribes of the FCT are dem no born non-indigene to say he wan drag Senate seat with Gwari who are native to Abuja.

Charlie is really silly for trying to play the ethnic card. MKO Abiola that helped and supported him I guess is from Cambodia.

Yoruba's are not saints but I would say they are the most tolerant group in this present Nigeria. Can anyone point to any state assembly now except for Lagos where non-indigenes are members? What I find most annoying about the Obi candidacy is that they have other ways to sell their positives which Nigerian will buy, but this resort crude tactics can never end well.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 10:03am On Sep 07, 2022
Chief it's not gaslighting. A lot of Obi supporters are unruly. I follow a lot of political discuss and it's mostly obidients that insult or abuse you for criticizing (not abuse o!) Obi.

Seun Osewa questioned Obi's past David Hundeyin abused him. Pastor Poju Oyemade dropped an innocent comment didn't mention any party insults from Obidients including Hundeyin again. Abused and insulted Femi Kuti, Ogbeni Dipo on twitter, called Yoruba actors supporting Tinubu all sorts of names, abused Zach Orji and that's just the ones I remember.

The APC crew also insult but it's usually in response to attacks by obidients. Then when the pro-Tinubu camp start responding in kind the pro-Obi crew start crying tribalism and forming victim. Yesterday vile things were said about an APC member Jubril Gawat's missing father all because he was showcasing some positive things Tinubu did in the past.

For me the Atiku camp has been the most civil. Even when he's dragged and criticized the supporters engage you in constructive polite debate.

Like I told donjazet the other day this overly abusive and aggressive strategy will lose you many voters who would have been predisposed to voting for Obi.

Theflint1:
I wholly endorse this message, but the issue now comes when people that call for decency in public discourse don't maintain the energy across board. It's near impossible to police what thousands and even millions of persons are saying, and it's why I believe this whole Obidients are violent thing is gaslighting.

Let's use this thread as an example, how many Obidients actually go personal?...I doubt you can list it in one hand, and I can bet it's likely the same thing with what you'd get on all other online spaces, but because the agenda to silent Peter Obi's base isn't working, his entire base is labelled extremists.

On this thread, I've had an Agbadorian come for me when I expressed views on public figures, I understood he was speaking for himself and knew enough not to label others that had nothing to do with it. Izzou has gone down the rabbit hole with this talk of all sides being guilty of online attacks and what did Agbadorians do when he brought evidence to buttress his point, Agbadorians said they were responding to being attacked, even in instances where there was nothing to show the posters being attacked first.

What's bad is bad...if one cannot call out what's bad, regardless of where it's coming from, I'm sure you'd agree it'd then be hypocritical to call it out when it's coming from the opposing camp...unless the strategy is to gaslight, and that I'd understand grin grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 7:03pm On Sep 06, 2022
BlueRayDick:
There’s no narrative Tinubu will push that will sell . The man practically did all the talking for Buhari all through his campaign in 2015, his videos are everywhere . I recently saw a video Tinubu was campaigning on Buhari’s behalf confidently saying Students will not stay months at home under APC government .

He slated Jonathan for a whole lot of things and was so sure their government will do better .

Had it been he ended things there it would be better ; but the old man kept on showering encomium on Buhari on his birthdays for the past 7 years…. He talks glowingly about the invisible dividends of Buhari’s government .

So how do u expect the common man that has experienced first hand the effect of Buhari’s misrule to vote for Tinubu on the basis of his own word ?

As for Atiku, his corruption cases are not going anywhere . The fact that those who gave him bribe were jailed in America and baba just dey avoid the free world is enough for anybody to know how deep he’s in that shiiit
on the Abubakar matter will be hard to sell because they themselves voted for him despite all that baggage so what morality will they want to sell now and not look like hypocrites?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 3:57pm On Sep 06, 2022
Even adopting your strategy it will still be hard.

For Tinubu, even though it will be hard, he can still push the narrative of how his governance style is different from PMB.

With Atiku all he has to do is point out how Obi and his supporters were part of his movement barely a few months ago and they will look silly.

BlueRayDick:
Anybody who saw how the ENDSARS protest ended and the issues that resulted from it would understand the danger in the idea of anything "Decentralized " in this country. That strategy is very very dangerous; it leaves room for different people with different motives to hijack the movement with their own agenda.

I listened to Jimi Disu this morning on Nigeria Info Fm and he mentioned the fact that somehow it seems the movement is even out of Peter Obi's hand himself. I get how passionate the youth are and how we all want a change from the status quo of having politicians of the old guard lord over us, but then I'm skeptical about allowing some people take the lead while the voices of those with good intentions are drowned out by the negativity of those involved in bullying, issuing online threats and those using emotional blackmail.

I prefer they go by the way of educating the teeming population who do not even understand what dividend of democracy should be, explain to the people why someone like Tinubu should not be voted(His role in the emergence of the failure called Buhari, his silence in face of the people's suffering for almost 8 years under Buhari, How he shouldn't be allowed to build on Buhari's failure, How we can't afford another government run on propaganda etc.), also they should let people know we don't need someone like Atiku with his numerous corruption baggage( Haliburton scandal, privatization fraud he ran back then, etc.) and how he's lived in Dubai far away from the current realities in this country. Then tell the people what(and how) Obi intends to do to turn around the country in the right direction.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 4:41pm On Sep 05, 2022
And to be fair a lot of people have said a lot of awful things to justify attacking certain tribes. Igbos unfortunately have been the victims of this kind of branding in the past so it's understandable when most react negatively to such comments, no matter how innocent or jocular.

izzou:
Knowing the kind of country we are in, Remi should not have joked with that. Any small line is misconstrued here.

You wouldn't blame people for interpreting it how they want. Because you and I understand Yoruba, we would know its a joke. Someone from the east or north may not see it that way.

If that didn't have a video, we wouldn't also know its a joke.

Public Office holders should learn cautious of what they say or do in public.

Na my only submission to that agenda be that.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 3:24pm On Sep 05, 2022
Obviously this is a clear case of when you don't like someone anything they say no matter how innocuous will be misinterpreted.

Wasn't that how they showed a snippet of a video interview claiming Tinubu justified the shooting at Lekki.

Anyway it's the season can't wait for it to pass sharply.

Itsrm:
I was looking for the full video before responding to this and now I've gotten it.

Here

If you have any yoruba man around you, show them the video and ask what they think. I can bet my life savings you'll be told the same thing I'm telling you now. She was CLEARLY JOKING.

It's not like this will even change anything about the narrative you already have grin but at least, your question has been answered.

I'm happy you said this in bold. So based on this answer revisit the post I quoted, don't you think what you just said now applies to those individuals you criticized as well?

donjazet:
Point of correction; I supported APC to win in 2015 and I probably will if we went back in time because as I've stated before, the importance of PDP losing power at that point was very essential for the growth of Nigeria's democracy.

Now secondly, if indeed I supported Buhari, that was many years ago, of which time has either justified or flayed my decision at the time.

The Buhari that was expected was certainly not the Buhari that delivered. In 7 years, everything that was promised was failed and got much worse.
Only a slowpoke or a fanatic would never change his views.

So now ask yourself this, these people I posted up there as recent as 2 to 3 months ago declared support for Peter Obi, what changed in that 3 months if not our usual politics of monetary inducement??

I hope you wouldn't become a spin doctor in trying to explain this.
