Paqueta is good has potential to be better. For a defender he also scores a decent number of goals. I think he netted 4 or 5 last season.

That's why I just smh at some people insulting others for supporting a candidate. Politics its like a football match where opposing teams do everything; sometimes cheat to gain an advantage. After the game they laugh, go to clubs, hang out and shayo. While club supporters like their political counterparts will be fighting, insulting and sometimes killing each other over things wey players don sought out tey tey.

Yes it's difficult to excuse PYO from Buhari's failures, but under the Nigerian constitution the role of a VP is clearly defined as whatever the president assigns to him apart. So Osinbajo has some wiggle room to deny some of the stuff he had no hand in. He's not the commander in chief that is PMB. Yes as a team collectively he will accept blame but every fair person no say no be him cos am.

Of course to win elections you will attach yourself to anything that will make you win, but years from now no reasonable person will say it was PYO that built second niger bridge or lagos-ibadan railway. Same way Atiku can't claim he helped nigeria secure debt relief when it was all OBJ.

Except for playing to the gallery how will his resignation have helped? Plus he had presidential ambitions so it would have made no sense to resign.

Illimitable:
This is valid and it’s an excellent point.

Please don’t make excuses for Osinbajo.

Let’s assume Buhari was able to completely transform Nigeria into Dubai in the last 7 years, would Osinbajo not co-claim the credits for a job well done?

But now that their performance is poor, you want to make excuses for PYO? It doesn’t work that way. He’s part of this government and he deserves the exact treatment you would give Buhari.

If Osinbajo was being sidelined or ignored, why didn’t he resign?

The fact of the matter is Tinubu’s only play to get this far is by joining forces with Buhari. Without aiding Buhari’s victory in 2015, he would never have won the APC primary.

Politics is a quid pro quo game. Rub my back, I rub yours sort of. Tinubu wanted the presidency but he didn’t have the numerical advantage that Buhari had in 2015.

Buhari had the North on lock down but without the capital to face PDP(a team of oil block owners) so he teamed up with Mr moneybags(Tinubu) in a deal that worked out as Buhari to go first and Tinubu should wait and come in later.

The bold is exactly my point every member regardless of your position in the APC will have to bear the consequences of Buhari's performance.

This life is funny sha. I remember how late senator John McCain and George Bush Jr were rivals for the Republican presidential nomination. Later McCain was still painted with the failures of the Bush presidency when he contested against Obama despite the fact that he might not have support any of George Ws policies.

larride:
Bros I'm an APC member. Both Buhari failure and successes belong to the party. Whatever success you attach to Osibanjo in whatever he does, he will equally share in the failures also. It's a joint ticket for a reason.

Tinubu will campaign with the infrastructural development of Buhari and try to hedge against his failures. In one of his press briefings after meeting Buhari, he said "we are progressive, we don't run away from challenges, President Buhari has done his best, we still have challenges to overcome, we have highlighted those challenges and we will face them headlong".

It is expected that opposition will use failures of Buhari against Tinubu.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 10:53am On Aug 06, 2022
Every APC member whether in power or not will always get dragged for Buhari's failures it's part and parcel of politics. The way you carry yourself and how well you can explain your role in PMB's government or not will determine the level of drags you will get.

Osinbajo yes is part of the government, but did he take all the critical decisions involving security? Even with economy how much of his ideas were implemented? I can only judge PYO based on the assignments he was given and his time as acting president which to me were satisfactory.

As for Tinubu he can't be held responsible for Buhari's performances but he has to chop the cane for installing a "failure" like PMB. The bottom line is if BAT is going to use Buhari's infrastructural successes to campaign then he's going to have to grind his teeth and accept PMB's security and economic failures.

larride:
Those I find interesting are those that says Buhari has failed but say they would've voted for Osibanjo if he was APC candidate.

You say you want to punish Tinubu for Buhari failures but you will Vote Osibanjo the VP of the failed Buhari.

This logic dey always amuse me. cheesy

See this is the thing. You're trying to win hearts and minds, but when you start insulting or putting down people for supporting a candidate it rubs people the wrong way.

Like I said before every candidate has their baggage so claiming moral high ground will not work.

Focus on Obi's good attributes (he has quite a few) and craft a unique selling point that will make him appealing to undecided voters.

Here's a free tip stay away from any tribal dog whistling post to attack pro-Tinubu posters that will only galvanize them and lose you many fencists you're trying to woo.

donjazet:
When I see anyone supporting Tinubu, my first instinct is to feel that the person is definitely mentally insane because it behooves common sense to support either the man or his party.
Now if I rule out clinical insanity via the person being able to type on his phone, then I proceed to check the person's tribe because if I could discover that someone I respected very much here was an open tribal Nazi who hated anything igbo, then there were many more less educated people who felt even worse than he did and who will never in this life or the next vote for any candidate with a hint of an igbo name.

I am personally not tribal, I was an uncommon Igbo man who supported Buhari, but it seems like people I was in the same camp with were there for other cynical reasons. So you can't pull the tribal card on me.

That's why people don't like engaging you in deep meaningful political debates you reduce everything to infantile tribal talk.

I could just as easily reply you and say you're igbo that's why you're backing Obi, but that will just distract from having a meaningful discuss.

For the record Osinbajo was my choice. I won't be voting for Tinubu, Atiku and Obi. People are free to make their choice but all 3 candidates have serious baggage and limitations that make them unsuitable for the office of the Nigerian president.

donjazet:

lol take it up with AFP not me.

Don't let any man-child bully, gaslight, blackmail or try to intimidate you because they are too immature and unskilled on how to convince people with facts. Wish you all the best as you make this difficult but most important choice.

donjazet:
Just imagine the shameless and useless urchins trying to poke any hole they can find in Obi's speeches. Isn't this foolishness, especially considering that their own candidate has not even dared to speak to the public in years.

For the purpose of clarification to the reccys out there, obi was simply trying to point out that Morocco, a much smaller African country than nigeria, the supposed giant of Africa was earning more than nigeria.

This was Obi advocating for us to shift away from oil alone and diversify our earning income. Obi pointed out how textile and footwears were produced massively in ABA and how that could be mainstreamed, he also pointed how modernizing agriculture in the north was a potential gold mine, comparing how a small country like Netherlands was making more than 4 times our earning from agricultural exports alone.

But no, these useless urchins will want to make a minor misrepresentation of facts the entire point of the interview. Shameful indeed.

Politics › Re: Why Is Kerosene More Expensive Than Petrol ? by chrisooblog: 12:15pm On Aug 05, 2022
Nigerian government doesn't subsidize kerosene. Plus the price of petroleum products at filling stations is determined by international price of crude oil. The higher the price of crude the more you will pay for not just kerosene but diesel.

Government still heavily subsidizes petrol that's why the price has been relatively lower compared to other petroleum products.

Adiob200:
Hearing the news that kerosene is #800 per litre, and petrol is #200..and demand for petrol is higher than kerosene.. Why is it like that?

I don't how it works in Kenya, but never underestimate the power of the government in control to mess things up especially if they don't like you.

The fact that he doesn't have the backing of Uhuru means Ruto will probably be fighting the toughest battle he's ever had to face.

rvp2018:
Kenya opinion polls have never gotten any election or referendum right. That you can ask anyone or Mr Google. They have very bad reputation.

Ruto is head and shoulder above Raila - not only because of age - but pretty much everything else - brains, energy, managerial skills, oratory skills, leadership skills.

Moi was my tribes man and I didnt support him even a single day. Ruto was supporting Moi and our political paths met in 2005 when Kibaki had disappointed me - and we supported Raila in 2007.

I personally started noticing Ruto in 2001 - and I remember telling my college friend - this guy will become president - and I am not surprised that he just hours from becoming one. Ruto is gifted salesman or propagandist. I notice him because he was able to sell dirty very dirty Moi and convinced you....and then he sold Uhuru kenyatta..unkempty 38yr old drunkard...entire opposition had to unite otherwise KANU & Moi would still be on it.

Ruto of course has gone on to sell many things - the most outstanding was selling their join ticket while both were under trial at ICC for crimes against humanity. The Western countries are still dazed. They gave up on influencing kenya politics that day unable to countanance how people can elect indicted suspect out of bail in most serious criminal court facing trial on charges similar to genocide. Ruto just turned the narrative 360 degrees.

Now this election - he has started a class war essentially btw the poor - and rich political families - although he himself is very rich. That Hustler Revolution long caught fire - and is carrying him to statehouse.

Raila has absolutely no chance against Ruto - who is a political beast at his prime. Ruto will nick at his 1st try aged 55yrs against combined mighty of gov and opposition because he works incredibly hard and smart.
Politics › Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by chrisooblog: 10:28am On Aug 05, 2022
Oba baba I agree Buhari has been a failure in many areas, but GEJ absolutely deserved to be voted out.

Under Goodluck we enjoyed record oil prices yet he depleted our external reserves and excess crude. No reasonable infrastructure to point to.

Petrol and food prices were higher under Jonathan compared to Yar Adua.

Growth that didn't reflect much in the life of the common man.

My brother Goodlluck was a huge disappointment in many ways.

obaaderemi:
I'm telling you this because we've been there. We threw out a president Jonathan who grew Nigeria's economy, kept petroleum products prices down and ensured food was cheap. We brought in an aged Buhari in the name of anti- corruption. Now the economy has taken a tailspin the kind of which we have never experienced even in the worst of military rule.

This old people don't understand the new realities when it comes to modern economy. And by nature they're stubborn and inflexible, thinking they know more than everyone else.
They're old and lazy and often do not understand the role of fiery nationalism in modern natiion building.
Politics › Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by chrisooblog: 10:12am On Aug 05, 2022
Rafiki I know this election season can be tense and emotional, but you and your fellow Kenyan compatriots should tone down the threats and tribal rhetoric.

Kenya will outlive Ruto and Odinga. Don't let selfish politicians instigate people into crisis that will take generations to undo.

rvp2018:
I assume you're asking me this.
There are a big distinction btw reality and intent;
The reality of our politics is ethnic; and it was always violent; even before the British arrived.
I think you're shifting the blame from politicians to someone like me who is an analyst.
It's upon you to protect yourselves from violence - like I have done - I warned guys months ago to get their passports ready to evacuate.
Dont be caught nabbing again.
I know the actors - and I know what they are capable of.
Forget about what happened in the past - focus on the future.
The immediate future is Kenya is going through a very political risk period - because of the actors - Ruto and Kalenjin will not accept a rig process without a lot of bloodshed.
I am also aware that Ruto has the backing of Uganda and South Sudan - and if he decided to real go hard - we can get a civil war.
There is nothing special about kenya - Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, name them - mismanage your politics - and you have war.

You should count yourself fortunate because I know the beast and I can help you understand it.

Now if you want my help to understand the geneis of violence in RV - I can help you.
1992 was Moi instigated violence - very similar to what Uhuru was trying this week - except he failed because he is a drunkard.
Moi knew the kalenjin self defense mechanism - all he needed in 1992 was to trigger violence - by burning Kalenjin houses along the borders
from Molo to Mt elgon.
Kalenjin once a war cry is sounded - respond within an hour - once they establish that indeed kalenjin have been attacked - the rules of engagement changes - it war mode.

In 1992 - I was in upper primary - I was still uncut innocent boy- one afternoon we hear this wierd wailin or cry - attack molo attack molo attack molo- that suddenly stop and is picked in the next ridge - it goes like that that - attack molo - 3 or 4 times - the first woman in a village repeat - and it stops. The next village first woman - the cry went I am told to as far as transmara - in one hour - it had covered almost 300kms - attack molo attack molo!

Immediatetly our school bell rung - we were told that school was closed until further notice - male students to walk on the right to home - female to walk on the left. Now school was half boarding - half day. I was boarding. We took like an hour to pack our stuff.

By time we are get out - the school was teeming with maybe 1,000 warriors all armed - all silent - as we waited for transport - there number had increased to cover entire school field - 10,000 men . The entire kipsigis land had mobilized thousands of warriors in an hour - all assembled at nearest village assembly point...schools then...village joint next village..next school. The they began treking through Mau forest to get to Nakuru...as we heading home. That was longest file of people I had ever seen in my life all armed to the teeth - all dressed now in shukas.

The rest of people who are not in warrior class - cook food and leave on the road. Nobody speaks or say anything. It total silences - as war is on. The following morning - there was thousands of cows, bicycles, name it - out of the forest - I can imagine destruction visited on Molo that day was huge.

You need to understand kalenjin war infrastructure is unlike anything you've seen. It the total mobilization of all warrior class - 15yrs each - 15-35yrs old - in shortest possible time - you dont want to wake that monster or worse arm it.

Rarely have kalenjin been united - many subtribes - rarely are threat seen as that huge. Ruto and Moi were first to unite them.Ruto has united them in a cause - and I am afraid Ruto is so ambitious he could do the worse - which to arm kalenjin with guns.

That will be the END OF KENYA as we know.

Ruto has a huge leverage because he knows at sound of his cry - a million in my estimate warriors will be available for war - in all corners of kalenjin land. Now it depends on him - if he arms them - kenya is gone!

Dont be found nabbing - dont buy into propaganda that Kalenjin were assisted by Moi or police or planned or trained. Kalenjin have incredible traditional war infrastructure like no one in East Africa. This exist by default - and is watered every year - by training of new warriors - in peace or war - and sit there just waiting for a war cry. Ruto hold all the cards now.

Biggest advantage is the numbers that can be raised in shortest possible time....other communities will struggle to convince people to join war...kalenjin at sound of war cry saying ATTACK XYZ - will all respond - and descend on XYZ immediately - questions asked later.
