Career wise it will not be the best move for him now. Yes Napoli is not a big club per se but it's a big enough that it will give Osimhen the right platform to showcase his ability without undue pressure to absolutely win a title.

Yes money wise it could be good but I think Victor is still young by God's grace more juicy offers will come in the future.

He should just keep his head down and continue to perform.

Samueltemi337:
why should I leave Napoli for struggling man utd when I know performing really well this season will bring in better offers

Napoli already have Giovanni Simeone and raspadoli letting osimhen go for that amount (140 million) is a really good business

Yes you're right votes that would have ordinarily gone to PDP will be shared with Labour. This might replicate itself nationally because normal PDP strong holds like SE and SS could potentially be won by Obi which might harm Atiku's chances.

garfield1:
Pdp votes will be divided in fct so apc might win

Politics › Re: Which Northern State Will Obi Win? by chrisooblog: 2:34pm On Aug 26, 2022
lol Sir me thinks you're a bit too optimistic about Obi's chances in the north. Yes he will get a sizeable number of votes in the middle belt but not enough to win those states.

Obi has large following in the SE and among people of SE origin leaving in SW, SS and North but he doesn't have the devout followership of people in other regions to make him win their states. The chieftains of APC & PDP will be deployed to deliver the NC. Benue, Plateau and Taraba voters don't know Obi enough to make that step of voting for him.

All this we are saying las las Obi might still step down for Atiku before elections. His body language suggests he wouldn't mind working with Atiku.

garfield1:
Peter obi will clearly win benue.majority here are Christians and hate anything fulani.obi will have 60%,tinubu 25% atiku 15%.
Obi will win the fct with 40%.tinubu and atiku will share the remaining 60% equally.with plateau being a Christian dominated state, obi might just win depending on where ex gov and ex convict dariye supports.if he supports or joins labour, obi will win plateau.as it stands pdp has no senator in plateau.their only senator istifanus gyang from plateau north has joined labour.therefore plateau north which is mainly berom who are fierce Christians will divide votes.plateau central will go where dariye wants while plateau south save for langtang will go apc.obi should gave 40%,others share 60%..
With Christians making 55% of taraba, obi will do well here.the people are tired of pdp and gov Darius.if gen t.y danjuma supports obi,he might just win but this is not certain....

My man Joe good to read your write up in support of Obi, unfortunately he doesn't have my support for many reasons.

One main reason is his lack of economic acumen. During his time as Anambra governor he could only grow the IGR to N8b compared to Ngige who grew it to N7b plus from a paltry N800m. Even the much maligned Obiano raised igr to N28b before he exited.

https://twitter.com/alhajabalance/status/1490290578122231812?s=20&t=a216wfsUV0VENo7pk77JQQ

How much of Anambra's finances were self funding without needing federal allocation?

He left N75b in savings but curiously the liabilities he left never gets a mention.

https://www.sunnewsonline.com/i-inherited-n127bn-debt-from-obi-obiano/

He didn't owe pensioners but doctors under him went on strike for a year. Till he left office he refused to pay striking water corporation workers.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/02/doctors-call-off-13-month-old-strike-in-anambra/

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/court-orders-anambra-govt-to-release-n1-5bn-workers-salary-arrears/

Obi did well in some areas like some above average Nigerian governors but nothing that warrants the near hero worship he's currently getting.

I don't have anyone I'm supporting next year but I pray that the best person who will lead Nigeria out of the current quagmire wins.

TheGoodJoe:
It is called growth. He started a big change in Anambra. He showed human capital development. Transformed the educational sector. Moved them from mid-twenty to number one educational State in Nigeria.

Peter Obi during the flooding crisis, rehabilitated people from even outside Anambra. Revitalized businesses. Somebody even got a compensation of N100 million due to the flooding.

Peter Obi did not borrow money as a Governor. Paid debt to workers and pensioners. Did not know any pensioners.

While leaving office, despite numerous works, left money and assets and handed over to the next government N75 billion. Only governor to do that. Peter Obi had his accounts audited and given a clean bill of health.

Now, he has carried out an intense study of Nigeria and wants to do more with respect to pulling millions of people out of poverty.

In this desperate time, we need a person of such credibility to manage and channel our funds.

Guy at the end of the day you can't stop anyone from talking up any player.

As much as I think Nwakali gets unnecessary hype the dude does have some talent. If he can somehow pick up his career and get to start playing proper elite football, it's Nigeria in the end that will benefit from it.

Not that I mind the bants. grin

charlesemeka85:
the criteria is doing it big in top league and clubs not in obscurity

Lets hype those that deserves it as well as possess the potentials to reach the very top not strugglers in europe lower leagues for over 5 seasons now

I bet that footballing nations in Africa like Cameroon,Ghana,Algeria,Morocco etc won’t dare to rave about a 2nd tier struggling player the way few folks do here on a daily

We no get shame?

There is nothing wrong in giving him a mention whenever he performs but not blowing it to high heavens as if no player of Nigerian origin has such performance in the last decade

Even when mikel played and bossed games against top clubs in epl and Europe for Chelsea no fit attract the hype nwakali gets here on a daily cheesy

Actually the Apapa road project was a tax holiday kind of arrangement for Dangote. The same arrangement has been arranged for MTN and Glo who will reconstruct roads in the SE and SW for a reduced tax rate.

obaaderemi:
Brilliant. A serious government will always look for ways to reduce borrowing. That's why I tend to disagree when people say Buhari has not borrowed enough.

We saw it from the lekki port example that there are alternatives to borrowing blindly to build infrastructure. The Apapa road built by Dangote is another example. Supporting and encouraging investments such as the Dangote refinery can also help a serious government save forex. This is why next year's election matters.

Dangote refinery hopefully should be up and running meaning scarce FX won't be used to import petroleum products. Not that prices of diesel, petrol, kerosene, aviation fuel will drop dramatically but at least this should make the removal of petrol subsidy less stressful.

Gas projects that will come onstream too will help.

Lekki port is a huge game changer could easily become the hub of West African import/export shipping meaning more fx.

Hopefully the siemens deal would have boosted our distribution capacity. Other than that new legislative reforms have taken electricity off the exclusive list so viable wealthier states like Lagos, Rivers, etc can build and operate their own power stations/grid.

However the new president will have to take very bold, painful but needed decisions regarding fuel subsidy and the land use act.

Agriculture will always continue to be a potential gold. Heard recently we've started exporting more ginger than ever before.

obaaderemi:
How, broda?

Exactly we need to make our economy a productive one so you can earn earn enough FX simple.

In the spirit of learning and debate what do you think we can do to fund infrastructural projects without having to borrow?

lebuhsi:
Revenue is increasing but it's not keeping pace with expenditure. Nigeria has a revenue problem, because her economy is not conventional.

Revenue is the problem not debt
Politics › Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by chrisooblog: 11:28am On Aug 21, 2022
Chief do you have proof on the bold?

Plus do you have a breakdown of what we paid for each project we built?

Someone just mentioned that Nigeria needs to spend $150bn yearly to bridge our infrastructure deficit Buhari borrowed $30bn of that (which isn't even enough) how is that unbridled?

Nigerian govt has a share in the Lekki port by virtue of the land it's located on. No matter how you want to look at it the active support and partnership of the government made it happen. If it was that easy and straight forward then OBJ, Yar Adua and GEJ would have done when they were making more money and had less debt.

obaaderemi:
Sir, I never said borrowing for capital projects is bad. But you should know that unbridled borrowing is dangerous for the present and future of the society. And that's exactly what this government has been doing with borrowing.

How much has this government borrowed and how much have they spent on infrastructure? That's how to know if the level of infrastructure development is commensurate with the debt profile. For your information, the largest port infrastructure, the lekki port is not financed by this government.

But a lot of Nigerians have been Hoodwinked by them no to realize that most of the borrowed money is for consumption and recurrent expenditure. I wonder why people can't see this. Yet these monies find their ways into private pockets in the name of subsidies and whatever. Then poor Nigerians are made to bear the burden today and tomorrow.
Politics › Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by chrisooblog: 10:48am On Aug 21, 2022
Boss what would you have preferred that we don't build any infrastructure at all because it will mean pilling on more debt?

All the countries we admire do you think it was strictly their own revenue they used to build infrastructure? That's not how the real world works borrowing is part and parcel of building a business or running a country. Your argument should be putting in place a system that will enable you to be productive so you can be paying off your debt.

Plus how do you measure if the debt profile is commensurate with the project? I gave you 4.5m to buy a toyota to run a taxi business is it instantly you will know if the 4.5m is well spent? Is it not when you start making returns down the line you will know that the investment is worthwhile? The golden rule of borrowing is you always take on loans to fund capital expenditure not recurrent.

Let me even follow your argument sir are you saying that Lagos that is up to its eyeballs in debt is doing worse than Yobe or Katsina whose debt profiles is relatively low? If Dangote the richest man in Africa is borrowing to build refinery then you can't complain too much that Nigeria is borrowing when we have a huge infrastructure deficit.

Plus are you seriously saying new rail lines, roads, bridges, airport terminals and seaports won't boost economic activity to make your country productive so you can pay off your debt?

obaaderemi:
This alone has cancelled out all of his other efforts. Now, people are struggling to eat and Fulanis are on rampage. And the country is indebted up to its eyeballs due to those projects you mentioned. The projects are not commensurate with the debt profile, Sir.
