omaolowo: My first car was a Volkswagen Beetle 1300 cc model. The Bettle used to come in two types: 1500 cc with large rear lights & my smaller model with smaller rear lights It was bought from NITECO Osogbo in 1977 for a princely sum of N2,650. It was completely brand new.
Two of my colleagues (we were Assistant Lecturers in Great Ife) accompanied me to Osogbo for this historic and unforgettable event: we drove in one's car to Osogbo, whilst the other drove the new car back to Ile Ife - as I did not know how to drive. Both are today world-renowned Professors in their chosen fields.
It was from these friends that I learnt driving skills (using the serene campus roads)... I was always being driven to town whenever it was time to buy fuel because it was this my car that I used to learn driving By the way, Premium grade (Super) petrol was then sold at 10 kobo a litre. To fill the Beetle would cost N3 for its 30 litre capacity tank. The lower grade of petrol (Regular) was then 8.5 kobo per litre Na una enjoy Nigeria ...dem never born us then...my first car is a Nissan sunny American spec but started driving 505 evolution such a rugged car Nissan is OK car but the engine smokes easily but a good car |

Balkan: @op, the question should have been directed to you father but however, who do you think you are or where do you think you belong?
But to me, the only hope of middle belt to free themselves from the Northern Muslim domination is to align with the Igbos and join Biafra.
We Biafrans are already formidable. They Hausa Fulanis know quite well that the only force that has been barring them from colonising the whole Nigeria are the Igbos.
The fear of the yorubas, why they continuously will do everything to make sure Igbos don't go is the fear of Hausa Fulani domination when Igbos live.
Yoruba man is not Hausa man's problem because they can overrun them at will.
But unfortunately, they will be humiliated more if the join the Igbos because they will be second class citizens. That's a quagmire ..Igbo are historical They will remember the role the middle belt played during 1967-70 fiasco |

tysontim: Fairness, justice and equality is what we need to make Nigeria better. Unfortunatly I don't see this happening wit Muslims. Yes a new country is needed, It will be best when it includes the Yorubas bar Kwara.
I am saying this because the number of intermarriages between Igbo and Yorubas is actually much. Some familes are made Igbos and Yorubas . I am not talking about those ones we hear I an talking about the ones I see. For e.g my cousin is set to marry a yoruba man from Ibadan. So what are you saying ? Let us not even talk about Yoruba inclusion because it will never happen...we can have diplomatic and bileteral relationship with Yoruba as friends but they will never be part of the country...my own suggestion They will have automatic resident permit and business permits as the bileteral agreement stipulate but that won't amount to citizenship ...even in the case of intermarriage unless an Igbo man married a Yoruba woman ..the woman won't be Biafra but kids biafran...same with the Yoruba ..if a Yoruba man married Igbo woman ..the woman is biafran but the kids are not biafran These would be sorted out in the bileteral and diplomatic agreement ...there might be joint forces and joint naval agreement ....also thwrw will be nautical agreement Thus we have a good friendship ..we have developed a sweet sour relationship and we intend it to continue but in an unstoppable unsophisticated manner .... What we are scared of and wary of is Islamic tendency and that we will not want to happen...we have seen the Islamic gift to the world and we are not in a haste to accept that gift ..we can view from a distance Aesthetic |

Then let them denounce Islam ..espouse and remove every iota of Islam in them, change their names from suilaman to Solomon, dauda to David ..then they should come for baptism classes ...they will be baptised by immersion and they should know the declaration of Christian faith and read I believe in one God and accept Jesus Christ as lord and personal saviour ...then and only then they will be considered ..it won't be automatic membership but they have to prove it. We can't and will not have Islamic mentality in the new place ..the Islamic benue people should stay in their Islamic state ....as of benue Christian ..I am sorry there is nothing we can do about it Ofu aka ruta Manu ozue ora onu |

I believe most Igbo men even respect and take care of their women even more than we Yoruba men gan papa. Why do people take pride in talking bad about Igbo ..you have not seen Igbo saying this I know this is a result of the Igbo characters Igbo respect women..they don't go about hurting their women by marrying other women and becoming polygamous like Yoruba and house ...that's is respect In Igbo society there is a role of women and that is so powerful as any Igbo the power umuada hold in Igbo land Finally, the first daughter ADA is so powerful in Igbo land that her words are even more stronger than the mum We appreciate our women...the Igbo word for wife is oriaku meaning eater of wealth ...if you still doubt it ask around We don't go divorcing every time ..go to igbesere magistrate court and see tribes that wash their sorry linen in public We don't go talking how we slept we women we don't marry the way fani kayode did and the way kemi is doing ..its not in our character That's Igbo man for you and that's why most non Igbo will want to marry us Their girls will call us tribalistic because we don't marry them..but our ladies are prettier Their boys will lament on the high Igbo bride price but we still marry without complaining about the bride prices because we know it's culture When they succeeded marrying an Igbo women or man they will threat him as a holy grail with highest respect That's why they can't fathom the concept of Biafra Thank God I am an Igbo |
