Unfortunately as at today, the whole of Europe cannot boycott Russian gas as they do not have a ready alternative. Until they find other sources of energy, they would still be reliant on Russia for gas.

Exactly. The EU leaders have to first put their citizens into consideration before Ukraine. Unfortunately, there's nothing they would gain by going to war with Russia over Ukraine but they have so much to lose by going to war with Russia over Ukraine. The kind of protests that would erupt in most of these countries in the event that gas supply is cut off from them and job losses and deaths starts to pile up. The governments would not be able to cope with it. I saw someone up there talking about Netherlands supplying EU gas. That fella doesn't know that the gas Netherlands has, is of a different specification from what Russia supplies, and cannot be used by most EU companies and households and as such, is useless to them.

Are you answering most of these illiterates and clueless folks on Nairaland? If Russia cuts off gas supply to the whole of Europe, the whole of Europe would simply freeze as most homes depend on gas imported from Russia to heat their homes in winter. Also, a lot of factories depend on this gas to function. Russia cutting off gas supply to most of the EU countries means death, job losses, economic sabotage and a whole lot. Germany is the biggest customer of Russia in the whole of Europe as they rely heavily on Russia for gas supply. Russia has the EU by the balls and that's why Putin is confident enough to attack Ukraine.
