As a skilled worker u will be applying for either subclass 189,190 or 489. in ur case since ur occupation is on CSOL u will apply for 190. hope u have assessed ur qualifications with ur assessing body. and yes u need to write ur english test before u submit ur EOI so that u claim the correct points.
good2know:
hello house,

please i'm a little confused about migrating to Australia through skill select.

what category of visa do i need to select for the EOI as a skilled worker (CSOL) because there is a section on the site that says:
"The following five visas must be applied for following submission of a successful Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect:

Business Talent (Permanent) visa (subclass 132)
Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188)
Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)
Skilled - Nominated visa (subclass 190)
Skilled - Nominated or Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 489)."

And is it compulsory that I take the test of English(IELTS) before submitting the EOI?
thanks

So ur just waiting for an invite...having a students visa doesn't affect PR application right?

TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chuckdee13(m): 9:35am On Oct 06, 2015
yes thats true...just that the term field engineer is usually given to those doing jobs closely related to petroleum engineers. but i guess doomel has to check his job role n nominate that occupation.
scrollmeout:

@ doomel, copy the whole link and past it in your browser address window

http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/2FC003B4F119A6C2CA2575DF002C1D94?opendocument

@ Chuckdee13, working as a field engineer in the oil and gas industry doesn't make you a petroleum engineer. Field engineers have different specializations. You can have Electrical, Mechanical, even Civil Engineers working as Field Engineers. What matters is your job role, duties and how it relates to your course of study
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chuckdee13(m): 4:03pm On Oct 05, 2015
@doomel
u studied mechanical engineering but u have been working as a petroleum engineer (since u said field engineer in oil and gas) so I guess the best will be to apply for petroleum engineer... scrollmeout what do u think?

oh....ok. I didnt know this. thx for the insight smiley

Chuckdee13,

Bachelors and Masters carry 15 points. Only PhD is 20points.

Being a member does not automatically grant her positive assessment. She needeto assess her skill.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chuckdee13(m): 4:51pm On Oct 02, 2015
This is what i understand too...but didn't wanna argue with her. since she's on ground she'll find out soon enough. thanks alot for ur response...one more thing, once done with masters n u get automatic membership (according to her) after payment does it mean u dont need to assess anymore and u will just get ur points like that?
lawland:
Naa... She won't, she can only get points for Australian study and her highest qualification depending on which occupation she nominated.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chuckdee13(m): 3:59pm On Oct 02, 2015
@NNBB2012, @lawland
I was talking to a friend rounding up her Masters in perth, she told me that once she's done she'll get automatic membership into Engineers Australia which I know. she then said she'll still want to assess her Nigerian B.Eng to get more points when she wants to apply for PR. I asked her so u can get points for both the Maters and the B.Eng and she said yes...I'm confused please confirm this for me. Thank you very much guys smiley smiley

I haven't seen anyone interested in these visa subclasses... But thx for the info though.

Skilled Independent (subclass 175)
Skilled Sponsored (subclass 176)
Skilled Regional Sponsored (subclass 475).
As such unfinalised applications for these subclasses are taken not to have been made and the relevant visa application charge will be refunded to affected applicants.

Ifexsco:
Oga, how yonder? Have submitted all the required docs, my CO has requested to correct my inadvertent error(that is correct my score from 65 to 60). So am awaiting my good news! grin. What do you think of Perth....for a Pet. Engineer without industry exp?

have u checked unsw...from what I saw a while back helping a friend the Msc is between 30 to may 40k for the whole duration depending on the program. I'm just giving rough estimates I suggest u check it out
standupguy:
Brother it was between ECU and Swinburne.
But Tuition on MSc is quite scary.
So I have applied to Swinburne for there 2 yrs advanced diploma which is about 16,000 Aud per annum.

The ECU MSc is about 25,000 per annum plus I read that Perth is a bit expensive.

I don't want to stress myself looking for 25,000 for the second yr if I applied to ECU.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chuckdee13(m): 8:22am On Sep 03, 2015
No one can tell u about ur chances of getting a visa...na God Hand e dey.
U have to show strong ties to home like properties or a job waiting for u when u finish ur studies n make it convincing.
u can go with a dependent for a program thats more than one year I think
I think when ur applying for a program u will see it in the details whether its SVP or not...not sure n I dont think a sch has all programs as SVP so just do ur research. what I've learnt so far though. I'm not applying for studies so I dont have first hand experience/knowledge.
Hope I was of help
Hazeleye:
Anyone willing to help answer these queries? quote author=Hazeleye post=37583096]Hi all,

I intend to apply for student visa outside Nigeria. With all documents provided, what are the chances of being given? I've read "no ties with home country" as denial excuse. How best to avoid that?

Also, can I go with a dependant for a BSc. Programme? How do I know a school offer is SVP?

Thanks guys, this thread has been quite informative.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chuckdee13(m): 4:16pm On Aug 17, 2015
Ok thx so much. It was the gap I was concerned about cos I never wanted to assess the MSC. Thx again smiley
NNBB2012:
I thought this issue had been resolved previously. For your Msc to be considered it has to be in the same field. The best thing is to be silenced about your Msc during your assessment; nobody really cares about the gap.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chuckdee13(m): 7:25am On Aug 17, 2015
@NNBB2012
I have a b.eng in petroleum engineering and an msc in computer systems engineering (accredited). Different fields...I want to assess petroleum so the msc will become irrelevant but I want to know if its still wise to show the msc so that there won't be a huge gap in my resume. Thx a lot.

U can do the diploma anytime once u get u PR...yhe main koko is to get the PR first n other things will follow
standupguy:
I am yet to apply to the school, just started talking to there agent, preparing to take IELTS. I am 30 yrs old.
I will look into what you just said

But note the technical skill I hope to acquire from the advanced diploma so important to me for future incase I decide to live any other place in the world
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Dangote Refinery Is Recruiting, Closes On 15th August by chuckdee13(m): 12:50pm On Aug 12, 2015
Doesnt work that way...the last chevron vacancy that was for process/facilities they refused to call petroleum engineers only mechanical n chemical...n maybe others
Anyi3:
You can do stronghead and apply through the Chemical engineering route wink
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Dangote Refinery Is Recruiting, Closes On 15th August by chuckdee13(m): 12:48pm On Aug 12, 2015
Unfairness at its peak...they can employ a mechanical or chemical engineer to do a petroleum engineers job in the field but can't employ a petroleum engineer to do a process job in a plant.
danyphonia87:
What an irony, so a petroleum and gas engineering is not among the list... And they said it a recruitment for a refinery... So what's the point studying about hydrocarbon and there derivatives in the University if I can't fit in dangote refinery recruitment

Google regional Australia...u will get a comprehensive breakdown. There r some states that the entire state is regional I think QLD is regional except for Brisbane...Google it though...it'll give u a guide to stick to regional areas if that's what u want.
Pmiller1:
@Lawland, thanks for this info. btw i got an offer from TasTAFE for Computer System Technology package course from Cert II, III and IV to Adv Dip level 3years for $33k and also Gordon Institute of TAFE for Adv Dip Computer Systems Engineering, but am reluctance to accept the offer, since peeps on here said the IT job has been taking over by the Asians and very had to get job after studying IT courses. Pls wat about QLD is it a regional area? TasTAFE is the only VET have seen in Tasmania if u have any other school, kindly share if u have any other school in that state. Thanks
