Praise the Lord! The wait is finally over.

Just got my grant for the family now. So happy.

Timeline:
IELTS: Aug. 02, 2014. 6.5, 7, 7.5, 7
Occupation: Statistician
Vetassess lodged: Aug.15, +ve result : Nov. 30.
Victoria state lodged: Dec. 1, nomination: Feb. 19, 2015.
Visa lodged: Mar. 10
Points: 55+5. (5yrs work exp. included).
Additional docs. required: Apr. 10. (PCC and polio)
Delay mail: Apr. 21
Grant: July 2nd, 2015.

Ok People i have now been issued my 574 grant on monday morning. Thank you guys( Futuredon, erictac203, ernestudezi...) and every one for your advice.

Erictac203 was correct. I responded to my case officer asking her the reason for asking for an OSHC that ends 28/02/2020 when my program ends 30/06/2019 and i have provided evidence that my OSHC ends 30/12/2019. She immediately replied that she wanted to grant me a visa that is 8 months from the end of my program as against 6 months from the end, but that if i wanted it to be six months from the end, i should let her know(oboy when i see this one i shook my head that this case officer must be a comedian e make me to to dey disturb the full USYD for just 2 months extension), with speed of light i just replied her that i wanted the 6 months from my end date jare. In less than an hour i got my visa grant.

Abeg Futeredon and co how i wan use book flight, Oboy i check emirates i dey see almost 600K(fear grip me o).

I guess u have to find out what assessing body ur under (u will see them beside ur occupation on the Sol or csol) then u go to their website n see all their requirements,get them n then follow up from there

the first IELTS I wrote was in Lagos. I can't really remember if the examiners in reading/listening/writing were Nigerians but the speaking person was a white lady. hence my confusion so pls don't be surprised by my question

it happens in Abuja.All the IELTS examiner who rate and score candidates on the speaking test are all Nigerians who are staff of British council.my IELTS examiner for the speaking test was a Nigerian. Am surprise at your question. Haven't you written the test before, you should have known by now the examiners are Nigerians or is there other centers in Nigeria where the IELTS examiners for the speaking test are native English speakers

wow...then I guess things have really changed. cos when I did mine a few years back my speaking was done by an Australian lady. I honestly don't wanna see a Nigerian when I do mine soon cos its just gonna look like an interview

[i][/i][b][/b]yes Bossladymo I agree with you.if you watch real IELTS speaking test video uploaded on youtube which was conducted and taken by foreigners in non speaking English countries. You will be surprise to see an IELTS candidate with LOTS of grammatical errors in the speaking test scoring Band 7 in the speaking test unlike in Nigeria here where a candidate who has good command of English language but with FEW grammatical errors is given band 6 or 6.5.you can see for yourself on youtube

pls explain how a Nigerian will preside over speaking when its an Australian/British that will talk to u

hi,just want to correct you.it is fellow Nigerians who are IELTS examiners at British council Nigeria that treats Nigerian candidates unfairly.They are the ones who preside over the speaking test and do the scoring,they also mark the writing test not the british.Listening and reading is marked by the computer

@chuckdee13. To avoid miss leading others, I advise u post or at least reference the source of n your information on matters like this. There is no such rule that Dibp on lo tanto takes what ur assessing body takes. If you read the msa booklet and the FAQs I posted on this thread, all theses issues were addressed. Bro, please take time to read and don't be in a hurry to conclude. Immigration takes a lot of care and attention to detail to succeed.
EA guidelines state that they only accept IELTS band 6 on all four abilities. DIBP affirm take the final decision on your language ability, they only assess you on your skills assessment as obtained fro the relevant body.

When it comes to language ability, you present any of the results as stated on imm.gov.au website. If EA accepts only IELTS, that's their kettle of fish not DIBP's. I hope this helps.

bossladymo1 pls theres something I need to understand, must u choose a state ur going to during the eoi even if u want the 189?

if ur qualifications have already been assessed then I guess u will get invited before november if u start ASAP.

Thank you bossladymo. How long does it take from the moment of assestment to invitation(approximately). I will be 33 by November, thats a loss of 5 points. Assuming I start with IELTS next month, do you think I can be invited b4 Nov?

we being assessed by engineers australia unfortunately cant write PTE, so we're at the mercy of IELTS. heard that DIBP takes only what ur assessing body requires. u guys r lucky

indians just have a gift...every aspect of life,they're already at the top waiting for the others.

Hmmmm, you need to see the way the indians are passing the exam. They score like 90 in every section. I don't know if God gave them an extra brain. Lolll

Hi all,

I am happy to announce my pte academic exam success. My scores are L82 W 80 R 77 and S 71. Speaking was my weak point. I had difficulty in describing the graphs. My ielts result is W6.5, R8.5,L7.0 And S6.5. I read so many success stories of pte and decided to take it. It was a very wise decision considering the many tales of woe by ielts candidates. I am so happy. Next is to apply for sa sponsorship.

I haven't done mine yet. but u need to go to their website n download the msa booklet,study it n all u need to know n how to apply n all is there. where ur not clear u come back to the house with questions n gurus will put u thru,just like I intend to do.

Hold up on your meds till after baby is born. If you are granted before baby is born, you will need to file a child's visa....and that is long tin, especially as it is offshore.

I know someone whose child was born in the US after pr was granted. The boy is here on his US passport, but the parents still need to file a child's visa.

I did my baby's passport 8 days after she was born, and meds was done at 2 weeks of age or so. No biggie. Just tell the CO you need more time because of the pregnancy.

Whatever it is you do, ensure your child is not born in Naija without being a dependent on your visa. If he was born onshore, after PR, he would be a citizen.

And no, you cant add an unborn child qs a dependent. H/she has no name, sex or birth date yet.

In my opinion, I know that theres no way a childs parents will be permanent residents or citizens n the he/she will not benefit from it n one day become like the parents. cos in the UK u can apply for citizenship based on the fact that ur grandfather is a citizen

but NNBB2012 I tot u said DIBP will only accept what ur assessing body accepts. cos EA accepts only IELTS. so is it possible for him to still take PTE cos of time?

You should go for PTE exam now, you would get the result between 1-5days; if your IELTS remark is successful, you would be refunded.

Until u get there...prepare very well. Next review may have other English tests on assessing authorities.

Dav6 that's their usual first reply (3wks), but you will get a reply frm them after you've sent d requested documents. But the issue now is that there's no more booking for July according to Abikoye.
Me sef still dey hope for miracle because other means of getn ticket to Brisbane are really expensive

DIBP accepts all but follows what ur assessing authority mandates u. Eg if EA accepts only IELTS or IELTS AC or GT that is the one DIBP will accept. So find out from EA or rely on folks that have done it.

wow! but I tot that lodging towards the end of the financial year has its disadvantages.

Congrats. Please lodge NOW because anything could by 1 July,2015. God forbid, if someone occupation is removed from the list by July 1, it means nothing could be done except a different occupation is nominated. Why would you allow that? I checked an occupation on CSOL list on the Saturday and the State sponsoring the occupation and by Monday, just 2 days after, the state revised their list. Guess what, the guy is no longer eligible just within 2 days.

he's waiting for the next financial year to start which is wise....
I really don't like writing letters of any kind but when I need to I do it putting in my very best.

Some people like myself may find the academics easier to pass than the General test.
I usually don't do well writing an informal letter. Probably he is i n that category.

EA accepts any of the two. Go for the general module. Easier to ace than academic.
