I'm very happy about Lauretta Onochie. The Anioma lady that sold her conscience and soul for political post. I wish such heartless opportunists will be getting disapointment always. Support the devil in his evil and it only takes little time you be a victim of his wickedness. When Buharis lopsided appointment favoring Muslim was exposed, she supported Buhari, when Fukani herdsmen started killing, she supported Buharis silence but hailed buhari for sending soldiers to the ND. Too many things to mention and whenever I come across this woman, I feel pain how a sister could sell her soul to the devil so cheaply because of political appointment. So happy to hear this

Lol, so Igbodo is no longer Ika now, because they don't buy into your Igbophobic stance.

For your info, Igbodo was not the only town forced into submission by the FG and they were not the only ones who lost their people in the Bini massacre of Igbos of mostly Anioma origin.

An average Ika man don't regard Igbodo as full Ika. An average Ika on the street don't care if Igbodo is Igbo or not. The Igbodo that you're talking about were the people that stopped their king from marrying an Igbo woman sometime ago because according to the culture of most Anioma villages, it's a taboo for a crown prince to marry an Igbo woman. I tell you there wouldn't be any issues if the king wanted to marry from another Anioma clan and there wouldn't be any issues if he wanted to marry from some parts of Bini. I'm telling you my Anioma culture and I know you will still argue. Only Igbodo had problems with Nigeria soldiers. Umunede is the military base during the war. The obi of Umunede and that of Owa were treated like heroes during the war. I have some of the pictures till tomorrow. Don't talk what you know nothing about

Politics / Re: Is okowa doing well in Delta State? by chukzyblingz(m): 4:45am On Aug 05, 2016
May19th:
Delta State is a unique state with diverse ethnic groups and languages, just as Nigeria with it’s diversity, the state is a smaller version of everything Nigeria with three major ethnic groups. The politics of the state is equally played along tribal lines as a result of the zoning formula which has made it possible for each Senatorial district to produce a State governor.

For many years the agitation for an Anioma governor overshadowed the search for a performing state governor, power brokers in the state has planned the future of the state in advance since 1999. Considering the fact the state capital is Asaba, in Delta north senatorial district and Anioma city, one would naturally expect an Anioma governor to turn the state especially Asaba the state capital into Dubai.

It is interesting to note that the state is the third richest in Nigeria falling behind the likes of Lagos and Rivers state. Delta State is unarguably one of the largest oil producing states in Nigeria and the heart of Niger Delta. With a GDP of US$16,749 and a bright prospect of a renewable energy giant, the state have the potential to attract investor locally and globally.

Unfortunately the State have a governor whose only qualification is that he is from Anioma, the anointed Senatorial district blessed with the opportunity of ruling the state for the next 7years, all thanks to power sharing and the PDP zoning formula.

Asaba is a relatively a small town with only a major road running from north to south and some few tared roads connecting some streets. Restructuring the state capital and making it a beautiful suburb is the easiest job a governor can do within a short period, for years the Anioma people has yearned for one of their own to govern the state and develop Asaba into a haven of fun; their prayers was answered in 2015 when Governor Ifeanyi Okowa worn the general election. Many including me was with great expectation thinking Asaba will be great under his watch, but then things just got worse.

Darkness in Asaba

Immediately Governor Okowa took office, the first thing i noticed was that the state capital which used to be lightened up with beautiful street lights went dark. The street light project was the brainchild of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan which to a large extent made movement at night safe, free and fun.

Okowa is from Agbor town, an ancient city larger than Asaba with rich history, but living in Agbor is a nightmare as a result of darkness caused by lack of street lights, ban on motorcycle movements at night as well as heavy presence of soldiers in the town, with a governor coming from Agbor now governing the state, Asaba and even Warri dramatically denigrated into another big and boring Agbor, transfering darkness to all other town in the state.

Well considering Deltans can still move in darkness everyone adapted to other source of illumination, life continued as we all got used to living in darkness, but then this happened….

Ban on Keke at Night ended freedom of movement

Just when you think things cannot be more worse, Governor Okowa placed a ban on the use of commercial tricycles and motorcycles in major cities of the state between the hours of 10.00PM to 6:00AM, effectively taking freedom of movement away from Deltans. If you don’t have a car, never border coming to Asaba for relaxation or fun, you will be confined in your home as soon as it is 10.00pm, trust the Nigerian police, violating this law will lead to stories that touch.

Asaba is now taken back to the stone age, reminds me of the village i grew up as a child. What else can you do in a town in darkness and no movement at night?

Recruitment of tugs

Well you can call them Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), the men on blue uniform but in the real sense of it those are tugs recruited to harass Deltans during the day. They stay at every major road in the town, their job is suppose to be traffic direction and restoring order on the roads, but their activities has been harassment, intimidation and any other job the boss chose to assign to them.

The project of DESTMA is a way of compensating the tugs that played a roll in doing some dirty jobs during the general elections, whether a tug wears a blue uniform of a suite, a tug will always be a tug.

After putting the state in darkness and taking away free movement at night, well the next job is place some kind of movement restriction during the day, a job the DESTMA guys are doing perfectly.

When it rains in Asaba, even the government house is not spared from flood

As small as Asaba is, one would normally think that a working drainage system is a walk in the park, but with an Anioma governor in charge, it becomes even easier, unfortunately nothing has changed since Governor Okowa took office. When it rains in Asaba, the flood covers the roads, even the government house fence is not safe because the water level will be high above the heel.

Other areas are such as Okpanam road, DLA, Anwai road, and some part of Nnebisi road becomes messy with only an hour heavy rainfall.

Who will make Asaba A Dubai

The question i want to ask now is if the Anioma son cannot develop Asaba, the state capital into what it should be, then who will? other state governors before Gov. Okowa has been blamed for ignoring Asaba, Governor Ibori made his town Oghara a little haven in his time, justifiably cool, charity they say begins at home.

For a governor whose town is a big boring town, and now presiding over a state with the worst state capital in Nigeria, one will be forced to think Asaba will very well remain this way for at-least the next 3 years.

http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2016/08/02/gov-okowa-killed-nightlife-asaba/
okowa is the most qualified among the contestants. There's no doubt about that. The fact that you brought up Anioma into your write up shows you're a tribal warrior. Probably still nursing the wound from the loss of your candidate. Sorry OO

ad hominem, because believe you me, I have stayed long enough in these Nairaland trenches, and you are yet to phantom how dirty I can go, if you want to go that route.

So, I'd suggest we keep this discussion civil for your own sake.

Ika land was conquered during the war and ofcourse defenseless, they had to play on side of caution with Igbophobic Nigerian Army.

Here is a narrative of a respected Igbodo member of this forum on this issue a long time ago. I would take his narration over yours as he is intellectually your superior and what's more, he is proudly Igbo and of Ika origin, now doesnt that sound nice?

www.nairaland.com/458875/delta-igbo-bendel-igbo-what/16

He is Ogbuefi1 in that thread, go through his debate with Bini elements there.

Omonua was also an Aniocha man who lived in Bini, his input on that thread was equally marvelous.

Ndo.
Igbodo is not equal to Ikaland. Most Ika people don't see Igbodo as an Ika community because of their similarities with Aniocha same way Egbudu is an Aniocha town but many people argue they're Ika. If you want to talk about Ika, don't use Igbodo as an example. Ika wasn't conquered as they never supported Biafra.

I'm not impressed either but talking from the context of this post, I think he shouldn't be on the list of the worst performing governors. There's only so much roads a governor can fix in a year and he's trying. Also fixing schools and other things. But Okowa is a politician and I never praise Nigerian politicians. And what insecurities is the writer talking about? NDA that the Army has not been able to stop or which one?

I'm from Delta State but I'm not residing in Nigeria but I came to Nigeria few months ago and I spent a couple of weeks in Asaba. I can't claim that I was able to visit all parts of Delta States but the op used Asaba as his case study and having spent some weeks in Asaba recently, I can tell him that his post is senseless. I saw a lot of constructions going on including roads and drainage system. Asaba roads are bad but do you expect a governor to fix all the roads in a city under one year?

The question should be what did the other governors that didn't make this list do that Okowa didn't do? How are they performing better than him?
Politics / Re: Nigeria’s 2016 Worst Performing Governors by chukzyblingz(m): 7:13pm On Aug 04, 2016

cc Chukzyblingz your people were jointly massacred by your lovely Edos. You're brainwashed bror.
You should refrain from saying what you know nothing about. Asaba people were massacred because they were apologetic to the Biafran soldiers. They weren't killed because they were Igbo or something like that. The Nigerian soldiers discovered hence the massacre. It has nothing to do with Benin.

But there was no massacre in Agbor. Umunede was the base of the Nigerian Army during the war. There was no any form of massacre in Ika area.

"On the people of Agbor and their ancestry, this also is another hot topic, as even the Agbor scholars cannot explain in full or to any satisfactory degree, how they came about. This inconclusiveness is simply rooted in the fact that their modern day leaders have sought to carve out and formulate an origin for their people, an origin that isn’t theirs, and one that denies their true nature and ancestry.

Then I ask myself are the SSners or Niger deltas a homogeneous tribe or race?
The last time I checked, Niger delta includes abia, imo, rivers, akwa ibom, delta, bayelsa cross rivers, etc . while SS are Edo, delta,rivers,c/rivers ,akwa ibom, bayelsa. these states contains different ethnic groups mainly, efik, annang, ijaw, ebibio,iteksheri,Igbo/delta Igbo. so how comes one ijaw boy or THOSE ijaw claimers, say SE is dragging SS to Biafra, and they say " we SS or ND is not part of Biafra we want Niger delta Republic".Abeg, Who is dragging who, one ijaw boy claiming he can speak for the other ethnic groups including igbos/delta Igbos. Please all these "we Niger deltas " should stop showing their foolishness, they should pray for referendum so that they can vote against Biafra.
Politically, the Niger Delta is the 6 SS States but geographically, there are only 3 Niger Delta States. When they say Niger delta in this context, what they mean is the 6 SS states. Imo, Abia and Ondo is never part of Niger delta. being included in NDDC is different from being a Niger delta State. and not being homogeneous doesn't mean the Niger delta are not one people.

We have a senator and a lawmaker known for beating women and fighting his fellow house members on the house floor threatening to beat and rape another man's wire because he was provoked and even sexist another female member that he'd prefer to have sex with her. What kind of man does that?

Is this what sane, rational and sensible men do to women even when they are upset?

Is this what you do?

What kind of man beats up and bloodied his own wife?

Do you for around beating up women?

Do you beat up and bloodied your own wife when provoked?

Do you threaten to beat and rape other people's wives when provoked?

Is it OK for your own sister or mother to be beaten and raped because she provoked her coworker?

The punishment for rape in Nigeria is LIFE SENTENCE

The punishment for calling you a thug or a dog carries ZERO sentence

The above should tell you there's a clear difference and gravity between calling you a dog or thug and raping a woman.

No, you are the young man and I don't even expect any sane and rational young man to equate begin called names with physical assault and rape?

Btw, the witnesses said she said Dino acts like a thug and saying you act life a dog and saying you are a dog are 2 different things..
