Yu'll have to use a 3rd party agent over there abroad. They'll collect your currency there & pay into your account here in 9ja. Their rate could be slightly lower tho. E.g $1 = 360 instead of 387

That was a trick announcement the other week telling us to put forex in Dom account .I know they will turn arround and say it's now going to be paid in local currency at official rate.

That's the thievery now in bank sector, you deposit dollar into your dom account @ 197 but when you decide to use your atm card abroad or for any foreign transaction online, the bank will charge you 300 and above. And yet we blame the BDC whereas the banks are following in their footsteps.

Even in nigeria, we have these agents too. You know with all the yeye restrictions, you might not be able to travel with above $10,000 even if you declare it @ the airport. This is where they come to play. They are like the "secret money launderer" lol but they'll charge u.

Oh,k.....well seeing that CBN has banned dollar for students abroad. I feel they might start selling to them abroad while their parents pay the naira equivalent into their bank accouts In nigeria. And yes about your previous comment, they'll obviously make profit of 50 or 40naira. Its a risk you know. My uncle lost few pounds thru these e-agents. He sent pounds in Nigeria and he receved stories that the money and that of other ccustomers was seized at the airport with these agents.....Its a Risk tho! But its a risk worth taking, rather than play to the gallery of the CBN

And if I get you correctly, £1000 was bought from you @ 450naira....which means you were cheated anywayz. Because it should have been bought @ say 500. But because its a business and they had to make profit, they buy from you 450 & sell to desperate guys there @ UK 500 or slightly lower than the Naijas blck market rate. #who now had the last laugh?

I wish this was true, like I said I'm also in this state of turmoil. I called my account officer and she affirmed what I hve been saying....ALL MONEY IN THE DORM ACCOUNTS ARE TO BE PAID IN LOCAL CURRENCY @ OFFICIAL RATE....if you still doubt me, Visit your nearest bank branch & ask for more info. You think bank is running charity organisation.

I sent £1k this morning from London to mu first bank account in Nigeria I got alert of N450. The BDC ha e agents here who wire money on the high streets here in the UK. We feed them and they in turn get hard currency to sell in Nigeria. This is how it now works. The Banks will never ever have dollars to sell at that rate.

I bought 10mb daily plan. They took it after 10 minutes. I then started sending "Cancel, No, stop" to 131 but none worked. They collected my N100 four more times after recharge before they had mercy. (All without using their .1mb).

When CBN sold $60,000 weekly to each BDC. It was said to cost CBN 8.6billion dollars a year, so they reduced it to $10,000 per week to each BDC Making it $1.476bn yearly.....
E no reach 1 week oh, CBN say them no sell again, say e dey shorten our money for bank(reserves) make BDC go find dollars demselves,lool.........Mere $1.47bn wey Naija go make in One month.
Now reports have it that students who school abroad & those who received medical attention abroad will be denied dollar.
What does this mean if this happens? More pressure on our BDC. More demand, Less supply = Higher rate!
The same CBN who says BDC was to serve retail needs of $5,000 & less is now giving BDC the leverage to be more wosky!!! Okay o

I said those who have the power to influence and by that I mean the middle class. Every society is a reflection of it's middle class. So goes the middle class, so goes a country. We have always had a very self-centred middle class in Nigeria, it has always been our bane, so long as we can solve our problems we don't care where the country is going, the common man and social infrastructure. The Nigerian educated middle class kept quiet when babanguda came and ruined the country, instead of voicing, those who could leave moved abroad (especially the well qualified lecturers and doctors) and the vacuum was filled by quacks, a price we are still paying till today. So long as the middle class keep quiet and refuse to speak out, they we deserve what we get. Now our silence is coming home to roost just as it did after we let Babangida destroy our values. Now we are complain because we cant afford to send our kids abroad. We didnt complain when the poor man's kid was getting a bad education locally, we didn't complain when poor people were dying because the health system had collapsed. it wasn't our business so long as we could send our kids to schools abroad and get our medical needs abroad. WHen the road is bad, middle class man buys a jeep, he forgets about the poor man who cant afford a jeep and has to pass that road. We saw the poor state of the schools that gave us the great education that propelled us to the heights we have attained, we never once gave back to those schools, alumini meetings were an opportunity to socialise instead of giving back and now the shit has hit the fan and we are complaining!


If you have to send your kids to school or pay for medical treatment abroad and buy forex at $330 then we deserve it because collectively we failed to have a social conscience and play our part in making sure that social amenities work. A government can only neglect when the people keep quiet.

I understand your pain brov but you cannot compare now and then. The people are well informed now, system of Govt isn't military anymore. So you can protest freely on ground or on the meddia without much hassle like the days of the military. However, this doesn't mean the people should bear the pain coz of Govts Insenstive nature. Restricting people from accessing dollars to school abroad or hospitals abroad beats the logic of a free market system. Moreover the ideal concept of the BDC wasn't to service the need of those who needed forex for schfees or medical fees. CBN as the regulator, made the policy for these BDCs yet they are giving them the space to operate beyond this policy by letting them service the needs of those who were never intended to even visit the parallel market in need of forex.
We are still an Import dependent nation, so long the parallel mkt rate is high, we'll suffer. Nd lemme let you know that even the Manufacturing sector is feeling the heat, so you wouldn't think the policy is hurting the importers alone. In the end, it'll translate to an increase in the goods & services (eg house rent) you & I purchase in nigeria. Inflation soon would hit DOUBLE DIGIT
