Truth is that nobody was counted in 2006 but figures were allocated ! I was in Asaba then and nobody ever entered the house to count us. But we had figures allocated for the whole area!

A court in Nigeria has ordered the extradition to the US of a man accused of having links with al-Qaeda and recruiting members to train in Yemen.

Lawal Olaniyi Babafemi, also known as Ayatollah Mustapha, will be extradited within 14 days to stand trial in the US, the court ruled.

He has been charged in the US with conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organisation and unlawful use of firearms.

He had been in the custody of Nigeria's intelligence services for two years, his lawyer said.

Mr Babafemi is not the first Nigerian accused of links with AQAP.

Last year, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, dubbed the "underwear bomber", was sentenced to life in prison in the US over his failed attempt to blow up an airliner on Christmas Day 2009.

Well, if i must answer you,i don't understand why a Yoruba man will call Akanu Ibiam International airport a provocation of Yoruba tribe! The Yoruba has Four airports built from the scratch by the Federal Government of Nigeria, one of which is a world class International airport in Lagos!

While the Enugu Airport was the Only airport RENOVATED by the FG in 1970, after the civil war. (It was actually built by the Eastern Region Government).The quick renovation was actually to quickly reinforce troops to the new 82nd army division created in Enugu in order to police the former Biafra territory and not to serve the transportation needs of the citizens of Enugu. The Uli International airport(Annabelle), one of the biggest civilian airports and with the longest runway (6.5KM) in Africa, was out-lawed by Nigerian government.

You know very well the reason why Chief Sam Mbakwe was called the weeping Governor, when he had tears flowing down his eyes after Head of State Olusegun Obasanjo bluntly REFUSED to honor Late Gen. Murtala Mohammed's plan to build an airport in Owerri which was one of the 19 state capitals of Nigeria! Imo State was the only of the Nigeria's 19 states without an airport! Chief Sam Mbakwe had to rally his people who donated in village meetings and town halls the money that was used to build the airport you see today in Owerri.

It has never ceased to amaze me why a Yoruba which is a Southern tribe would cheerfully want to be the tormentor-in-chief of their Igbo compatriots, who should be their allies! Their country is well opened up and they donot hoard international airports restricted to just the capital, Bangkok.Thailand with a fraction of Nigeria's population (60 million people)and a landmass less than Southwest region of Nigeria, has 7 International airports, all of which are bigger and more efficient than our biggest airport in Lagos.
