In major eastern cities, I see a lot of buildings from 70s, 80s and 90s that are old but in good condition. Why is it that people are not buying theses buildings and upgrading/renovating them instead of building new ones?

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to do so instead of building a brand new one?

A reconstructed Nigeria is better than secession.That is why I don't like or support Biafra agitation it will takes igbos backward again like it happen between 1967 to 1970. And secession means war in Africa and I don't want my people to experience war again.

In nutshell, a reconstructed Nigeria should be our agitation not Biafra.

Welcome Bro, I feel your displeasure over a lot of things which are obviously not being done right, especially when compared to the way its being done in other advanced countries where you've lived and worked. I also got your advice about greenery, a good landscaping culture and a general awareness to the ambience of our dwellings by employing nature as a good help to mask a few unsightly things.

But I strongly disagree with you if you say we are not making a very great push in the right direction as it concerns housing development in the eastern part of Nigeria. I have a lot of reasons to say that what we are doing now might not be in the standard of works you will see in Jo'burg, Rabat or Cairo, but we cannot stop what we are doing because our lawns are not covered with grass or that we don't have central sewage, or community clean water supply instead of wells and boreholes.

This is Nigeria, remember that. We are very much limited in what we can do here because the government is structured to kill businesses, not to help it. In this country, to develop a housing estate, I will have to build my own roads, provide my own water supplies, provide power supply, provide security for my materials, take all the risk with transportation on bad or non existent roads, fight ogbanecheagu, community groups and government regulators. Please remember that I cannot take loans to do these, the rates are just cut throat at 25% or more, before I will pay about 30% in taxes to the same government who has not helped me in anyway! SAD.

I know these because I own a housing estate myself, so whenever you see housing development in Nigeria, please praise the little they can do. Don't expect perfection, and always remember, ACTION BEATS INACTION ANYDAY. We cannot start living in bushes because Nigeria refused to function like a country. There's no mediocrity in the way we do things, we are moving to the best of our ability, while fighting with the obvious disadvantage of living in a place where things are not working.

To consolidate on the gains of the okada ban, Obiano should not spare any slum settlement in his urban renewal drive. Certain group of people have to be chased away from anambra for our state to get to the next level because no matter the infrastructure put on ground, those hateful foriegners will find a way to destroy or sabotage them.

Hmn, as we are discussing about our state and how to make it better, let me use this opportunity to chip in this important message for our benefits in the future.

We can see what is happening in Nigeria because of fulani and their cows. Have we ever thought that we are encouraging this heartless situation to continue spreading?
Most of the people here are men and I believe u all go to umunna meetings.
So u can bring up this topic and discuss it, let the awareness start from home.
We value beef more than any other meat and we don't rear cows for commercial purposes. We depend on this fulani people. When we want to do any occasion we always use cows. In fact the number of cows u bring will determine how loaded u are.
It's we we so let me be blunt.

We don't actually kill these cows but we rather want to show that we belong, then sell it less to the fulani again. For what purpose pls?

We can easily rear chicken for commercial purpose. Lots of people will be employed while at it and it open chains of biz for all both vets and farmers.
Chicken is healthier.
Women are always encouraged to reduce or stop the consumption of beef as they approach menopause.
It's cheaper. Developed countries eat more of chicken than beef. Beef are usually reared for milk. And eaten at few occasions.
I can't remember when last I used beef to cook.
There is turkey, chicken, fish etc and some other animals to eat.
Must we continue eating beef?
We wail and complain about these people yet we patronize them.
It's the turn of benue today, who knows tomorrow.
Pls, can we give this a thought?

It's for our own good. I can't see the reason why these people that we are better than in all ramifications will outsmart us using beef. It's not actually all about ranching and we know it. Since their means of propagation is through cow, let reduce to the nearest minimum how we value their cows and let's see if the tides won't turn against them and their sponsors.
It will even help us become self sufficient easier.

I think you are forgetting that setting up a business requires capital. Don't get me wrong your idea is good, but you first need to save some money to start your own 'company'.

There are more than 10 of these shopping complex types being completed and opened inside the city. But I think our people should invest more on e-business. More people should open e based retail platforms to deliver goods and services, even groceries to homes in Enugu.

What I think we need in the coming years are e based business platforms to cater to orders from city dwellings. Things like groceries, goods and services could be ordered online and delivered in less than an hour.

We should advice our people to take advantage of e business.

Kano state has already offered the whole of Falgore forest reserve which is technically enough in landmass and vegetation to host over 200 million cattles forever which is more than all the cattles the herdsmen claim to have .... Strangely the Federal Govt deliberately left out Kano from areas earmarked for the suspicious cattle colonies!!!
