MadeInTokyo: The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has disowned the purported exemption certificate in possession of the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.
The NYSC was reacting to the exclusive story published by PREMIUM TIMES at on Saturday detailing how Mrs Adeosun skipped the mandatory national service and forged an exemption certificate of the service to cover for it.
Buhari or Adeosun should give them more Abacus money.
I am soon, they will change their tune
The story has generated outrage from Nigerians who asked the minister to resign from her post or be fired by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Details published by this newspaper on Monday show that the certificate is among the set of documents submitted by the minister for her appointment and screening in 2015.
A statement by the NYSC’s director of public relations, Adenike Adeyemi, emailed to PREMIUM TIMES said the service will “investigate the origin of the purported Exemption Certificate in question”.
The statement, however, said Mrs Adeosun had applied for exemption. It was, however, silent on when the application was made and what decision was taken on the application.
This newspaper first wrote to the NYSC on April 16, 2018 requesting verification of the certificate.
After weeks of silence and promises, the paper’s editors decided to re-channel the request through a Freedom of Information request.
This followed disappointment suffered by journalists working on the story when the formal letter that was to be issued on June 1 by the organisation was suddenly withheld.
Our reporter who was at the NYSC headquarters on Thursday, May 31, was told to come back the next day to pick up the organisation’s response to our letter, following intense checks that afternoon that confirmed that “Folakemi Adeosun” was not in the register.
However, on arriving on Friday, June 1 to pick the response, a new decision was announced: the NYSC officials said the verification has been channelled to the organisation’s ICT unit to check its “electronic database.”
The organisation then became curiously non-response to our request.
Before the corps went cold on it, PREMIUM TIMES had made a payment of N2,000 through federal government’s Remita platform.
The Remita receipt was later swapped with an official receipt of the NYSC at the organisation’s account department. The receipt is numbered 711133.
Frustrated by the sudden back-tracking by the agency, this newspaper, on June 8, delivered a Freedom of Information request to the NYSC headquarters which is yet to be responded to.
The FoI Act mandates agencies to respond to requests within one week or write to seek extension if unable to comply within the stipulated time.
The full text of the NYSC’s statement is produced below:
PRESS RELEASE
RE-EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE OF THE HON. MINISTER OF FINANCE, MRS. KEMI ADEOSUN
Our attention has been drawn to the issue of the alleged forgery of an NYSC Exemption Certificate by the Honorable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.
Checking our records, Mrs. Adeosun did apply for an Exemption Certificate.
We shall investigate the origin of the purported Exemption Certificate in question.
Even somebody that forges university certificate. If they are in A PC, those corrupt people will bribe a Vice Chancellor to claim he graduated from their school.
This is why no document from Nigeria, even if it has the seal of Nigerian President is honored anywhere in the world.
Nigeria is the only country in the world where it's national institutions will protect a forger if the price is right.
Afam4eva: I must say that you're one of the smartest people on here. This is what i''ve always been saying. The SE states need to host a lot of popular events in order for people to learn and know a lot about our states. Let our governors host the super eagles in our stadiums, host carnivals etc. Only that way will some people know that Igboland is not what they think it is.
The same Okorocha idea of showmanship when there is nothing to show. You guys always think there are short cut to development through fake showmanship. Soon you will advise us to build statues of Bush, Clinton and Trump as a way to attract Americans as tourists to SE. Yet, you won't look at real example of Ghana or Kenya how they developed their tourism industry and transportation system to make tourists visit and enjoy themselves.
We don't NEED other Nigerians to think Igboland of whatever. It won't make them invest or come to live there. Except for those currently moving from Benue and Middlebelt due to the crisis.
What we need is CO_OPERATION between states to build critical infrastructure such as regional rail network, regional power supply systems etc. If you do that, The world, not just Nigerians will notice you. No need to plan on painting an old stadium to host super eagles and you call that "Development"
Cjrane2: Two projects that will guarantee industrialization of the region:
1. Power plants especially Gas and/or Coaland
2. Regional railway links are what the regional government should find Chinese financiers.
For a Total length of <1,000KM, to link key SE cities to the SS cities, this is a highly bankable venture for any investor.
These are the only projects that will give the region any hope of creating jobs within the region and cheaply moving goods and services from point A to point B.
Cjrane2: Therefore the plan should be for a 5 years development plan for Regional railway. The 3 steps are.
1. The SE Governors and SS Governors should secure permission from FG to build the regional railway and float a company "Eastern Corridor Railways Corporation (ECRC)"
2. Every benefiting state will invest 1% of their budget as Equity into the company to take care on initial takeoff This is later converted to shares in the company for the respective states.
3. Get Foreign companies to bid as foreign Technical partners to do the actual construction on a PPP arrangement and 100 Year BOT (Build-Operate_Transfer)
These three steps will ensure the project is actualized and it will greatly facilitate economic activities in both zones. Imagine travelling from Calabar to Onitsha or Port Harcourt on an air-conditioned train and get there in 2-3 hours? Or bringing your goods from Afikpo to Port-Harcourt. Then do your business and return to Calabar or Afikpo without Police harassment and bad roads?
I just want to continue to repost this excellent and bold plan for true development, until our leaders do something about modernizing transportation of goods and services in the subregion.
This project is more important than building bridges on the River Niger or other small projects. This will link infrastructure in the region (Power plants, Industrial complexes, key airports, Key sea ports, key farming areas etc) by rail.
It is achievable within 5 years if we follow the 3 steps outlined in the post above.
Expect Afonja and Abooki to come here to insult us about this.
asha9: Chai..i sympathize with you, no wonder you are hopeless.
He is the same guy called Ofuzo.
I sometimes wonder why they feel such negative passion against their fellow Igbos?
I am not from Anambra, but i grew up there and my Igbo dialect is like Anambra's. All my friends in elementary school and secondary school are from Akokwa, Dikenafai, Orlu,Mbaise,Arondizogu, Ngwa, Ubakala,Osisioma, Opi, Ezzamgbo, Izzi, Ehamufu etc. Some of our teachers too were from these places. I NEVER knew these were not towns in Anambra until now! They speak better Anambra dialect than me.Most of their fathers built massive 3-5 storey buildings in the city.
WHY should you ever wish the place that is practically your home town evil? I truly don't understand them and i have stopped trying to.
ChangeIsCostant: A former dedicated member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Cynthia Anyikwa, has been forced to react after being accused of so many atrocities and also labelled dead after she dumped the pro-Biafra group. According to the lady, since she jilted the leadership of the Nnamdi Kanu led group due to "lies and deceit", some IPOB members have been coming for her hard online to the extent she was accused of poisoning Nnamdi Kanu and died after slumping.
Cynthia Anyikwa took to Facebook to dispel rumors of her death. Read her long epistle below;
They said I'm dead when I'm pretty healthy and alive! But then, I'll be here to read their Obituary one by one that's the irony of life. A steel made woman is very much alive! Woe to haters and its organizers.
First thing foremost. I'm awe of thy solemn name Almighty God the creator of the whole universe. I'm on bended knees Supreme Creator of all mankind in praises for thy enemies lies in wait but thou put confusion in their midst. Hallelujah!
Some person's with Kyphoses rumoured my death during the period I absent myself on facebook! They said I'm dead alleging the cause of their death not mine to be the nonsensical, brainwashing devilish IPOB Oath, imagine the bunkum! A*sholes do dead breathe, write, post, type, speak, access the internet and its Facebook account up and running? These deformed creatures said I poisoned their leader. Isn't that hilarious people? How did I poison their leader bikonu?
How come? How did it happen? I didn't poison your leader when I was running the hazard roads of Abuja both night and day twice a week sometimes when he was alleged of committing a treasonable felony offense and that wasn't Bread And Butter mind you. How then can somebody think of me poisoning a man I fought for his release in my own little way? Does that sound palatable? I attended his court proceedings till he was bailed. Then, I was cheered, praised and applaud not accused of poisoning him because it was Cherry and Cruising by these 21st century idiots isn't that correct? By the way, where is your leader? Did he tell you I make his meals? Have we eat on the same table before? No. Do I or have I ever cook for their leader? No! Have I ever see him eating before? No! Do I live with him? No! Do I know his kitchen?
Still No! So what the heck is this bollocks? How do this incoherent gibberish write-up poisoning their leader emanate is what I'm yet to unravel as such sane individual would ask the imbecilic Ape responsible for this hate write-up and their master Hitler de 2nd hiding under woman's name "transgender Ugochi Alele". Fools everywhere? It's crystal clear for one to poison someone you must either be their cook, a constant visitor or someone within which often stays/serves whatever Eatable to the said person intended to poison isn't that right? You can then judge from that.
You should know this Ape, I'm not among the jobless weaklings who was seen without cease making Afara Ukwu Ibeku Umuahia their Heaven on Earth. I'm not among those seen lettering on the floor like Alamajiri's on pilgrimage in the vicinity of Ibeku doing one nonsense thing or the other for days, weeks, months haba.. Ape, ask those usually pictured/seen in Afara if my face was seen in Afara twice since Kanu regained freedom. Lunatics..
All these brouhaha, insults and character assassination on my person resurrected ever since I jilted IPOB Nnamdi Kanu because its Leadership and Disciples are full of lies, they managed truth and you know I'm allergic to lies as it's not what prompt me or what I saw initially before being party to that Biafra secession group including the token I did for Biafra emmergence.
Whiter than white slogan in that group is farfetched, it was murdered in cold blood that even black is more suitable and preferable compared to how Dirty and Dark everything going on there is . I decamped that directionless, vision less group full of character assassination, slandering and lies with no cognitive reasoning, no roadmap and since then they became a Squealer. Howling is their watchword, thus Character assassination simultaneously is their roadmap how ridiculous...
If anyone dare speak against the evil in that limited liability radio Rbl, the RBlimited trained facebook terrorists will come for you with heaps of insults like the abuses they have being raining on me since I left that pathological lying group but who cares..? Insults makes someone like me strong it doesn't kill nor deter, I can stomach all their day dream balderdash as their tongue is known to be flippant often that's what these sycophants failed to pinpoint thinking they could have it right or shut me up by churning rubbish with my name attached.
They cooked themselves with lies thinking they are denting my name. Idiots they are... These are the same people Proscribed by FG and the way forward is to disrupt Ohanaeze summit on restructuring Nigeria and slandering Cynthia's name thus rumoured her death after threatening to rape her to death attributing it to worthless man-made masturbating paper nonsense called oath and making my pictures therein with an asterisk Red symbol is foolishness, diabolic, unprofessional and juvenile dimwits!
Tomorrow they will said to be peaceful agitators lol who are you deceiving? Did you see how disgruntled stupid these elements are? What other awful words would be suitable to qualify these miscreants as their legendary in stupidity abounds. You morons irritate me...
How IPOB don't know that these lies are the work of Buhari and his agents of misinformation to breed suspicion and confusion among them beats my imagination.
I am waiting for IPOB people that will believe this crap.
Ofodirinwa: I agree with a lot of your sentiment but I don't think high rises above 12 feet are necessary. Sometimes we get caught up on the idea of something and loose track of the meaning or purpose. Yes, the idea of having skyscrapers is nice, but for what purpose? There are plenty of cities that were beautiful before skyscrapers where necessary. Take a look at Vienna
Nothing on Banana Island can touch this.
I think this is the model we should strive for in the SE for a few reasons.
1. Economics - If we start building 12+ ft skyscrapers, that means the building market will be monopolized by the very few companies with this capability. This increases the average entry point of being a building contractor. In a country where credit is hard to get a hold of, this can be disastrous for indigenous firms as foreign firms that can get loans from their home countries will have a field day dominating the market. Of all the buildings in BI, how many Nigerians built them or make money from their building? Let alone how many Lagosians or Yorubas. Maybe 1-5, but in the SE you have thousands of people who can be contracted to build and all of them have created wealth for themselves.
2. Electricity - Those skyhighs are death traps in Nigeria. The fact is that the country has no real power. The amount of people that will be trapped in elevators or relegated to having to climb a mountain of stairs just to get to their office or apartment will be brutal. Especially if they're older or handicapped.
3. Congestion - If you build one building that 1000 people work at, that means every day 1000 cars will be fighting to go in the same direction of 2-4 lane roads. Everytime you add a skyscraper, add 1000 more. You'll create a situation where 20,000 people will be fighting to go to the same 2-3 blocks and this can be a nightmare.
You europe you don't have sky highs like you do in the US and european cities are 100x more beautiful, liveable and peaceful than US ones. They skyscraper model isn't for everyone
I think Onitsha and Aba would be appropriate for skyscrapers, especially Onitsha, but even they are ok with the current model.

Some people are just dogs.
Go and show your village chief that picture and tell him your village should be better than New York. Stop coming here to give FAKE advise borne out of unnecessary hatred for a fellow Igbo state
horsepower101: I suspect that what they are already doing.
They should use the little money remaining to do short fences on all the plots of land there now. This will prevent people from encroaching on other plots land when the time for fencing comes. Then folks will be in court for years, delaying the project even more.
They should put short fences around each plot before they sell it, So that whoever buys the plot can only make the fences higher and not extend the perimeter of each plot of land.
spyder880: Enugu centenary and lifestyle city projects in progress. ...... Picture taken yesterday.
Centenary city does not own these set of buildings at the entrance road of Centenary city. Just like the new Jedidiah estate at the entrance road of Centenary city isn't owned by them. These are estates by another company.
Centenary property starts from the point where they situated their gate. Hopefully, they will start planting flowers and trees along that road now. it helps to appreciate the value of the land as well as beautify the environment.
spyder880: The road works at the main entrance gate ........
It appears obvious that this company does not have the funds to execute this project out of their own money and sell the homes to the public as they originally envisaged.
I think what they need to do now is to sell the land to interested members of the public and have an agreement on the type of building for each area of the estate. In this way, private individuals can be building the structures and the company will use the money they have to complete the roads, electricity, piped water and other infrastructure for the estate.
I don't think they can financially build all the homes required and sell. They need help in building the homes and they can provide infrastructure needed in the estate. They can recoup some of the money for infrastructure through the cost of the land.

I give full credit to creators of the SE & SS Regional Railway Masterplan. I like it and i will continue to remind us about it.
I just want to continue to repost it until our leaders do something about modernizing transportation of goods and services in the subregion.

One thing Anambra State Government must tell OCHA brigade to enforce is ZERO PARKING ON THE EXPRESSWAY
I know they have tried in the past to get those Catapillars and trucks out of the expressway. It seems they have returned and nobody is towing them away and make them pay heavy fines to get the vehicles back
lackren: A meeting of the North West Governors’ Forum is ongoing in Kaduna state.
The meeting, which is being held behind closed doors, has in attendance, the Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari and Deputy Governors of Kaduna, Jigawa and Sokoto states.read more
horsepower101: I would urge you to check the history of the character that you are talking to and the role he has played in the disruption of this forum. I respect you as a person but I expected you to know better.
He went from one of the most anti igbo character on nairaland, Then suddenly he became pro-Anambra towards obiano election campaign last year.
I won’t respond to him if he quotes me. I and others who have been paying attention know his true mission.
I definitely was not referring to you. I have read EVERY post in this forum. So i know those who have been doing exactly what i was referring to.
Yyeske: Investnow, I really enjoyed the history class especially when you ended it with.......... The beginning of a new Onitsha.
Me too.I just love that guy. You don't need to be told he is truly an Anambrarian, interested in the development of Anambra state and seeking great ways to showcase the potential and progress of the state.
Compare his effort to people who want to divide Anambra people and Igbo people, claiming Nnewi people are not as Anambra as Anam or Aguleri people. You clearly see through the thinly veiled pretences of such people that they want to provoke ethnic hatred and disunity among core Anambra groups. If that is their aim, you immediately know they are not Anambra people even if they chose monikers as developAnambra or AnambraMyBelovedState or AnambraRiver01. It is all their silly pretences to hide their identity to cause havoc pretending to be Anambra people.
Nobody is deceived by their silly pranks. By their fruits, you shall know them.
Sometimes, i wonder if our generation is inferior in thinking to our grandfathers generation.
If our grandfathers were able to build these types of large markets, why can't we replicate that in at least 5 locations today?
Everyone is running to fit 5 million people into a market they built to accommodate 50,000 people? Why can't we build more and better ones at new locations for this generation?
ANSMEDIA: Shoe manufacturers at Onitsha-Owerri road are being moved here at the outskirts of Onitsha city which is Nkwelle. This is part of the strategy to move large businesses to the outskirts of the city. Nkwelle is equally part of greater Onitsha metropolis.
Hopefully, they can clean up the left over trash and cement bags on the floor. Sweep and wash the place, then give a specific date when all shoe manufacturers must move from the Okpoko site where they are to this new site.
I wish they can also build these types of markets with large marked parking spots for many other trading associations in the state. Our people should learn to do their hardwork in conducive environments not working in a piggery-like market.
Xander85: Well, i think they're entitled to speak their mind and express any fears they may have. This doesn't mean they're any less Igbo than anyone else. Fact of the matter is that pre-independence, certain areas of the Eastern Region felt (either wrongly or rightly) that they were not seen as equal partners in governance, and may have equally felt they didn't measure up socially and economically with the rest!
No doubt as a region or country that was just beginning self-governance, these issues would have arisen, and i'm sure that had we been left to get on with things without that useless Nzeogwu coup (or any other coup that may have come given that coups were fashionable at the time), that grievances and issues of exclusion would have been addressed over time!
True. But if you noticed, Not a single Anambra or Imo person ruled the East Central State as an elected governor. Even in the old Anambra state with (Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra), not a single Anambra guy became their governor. They were all people from Enugu. So why would they feel marginalized if they produced all the executive governors?
It is like Fulani feeling marginalized in Nigeria, yet 90% of the Presidents since Independence were from them?
I just think the issues can be resolved through internal dialogue. But, it must be said that some lingering hatred have persisted and need to be addressed. I just hate that Ebonyi is always claiming they want out of any Eastern Union, yet, they protest when Abakaliki street is renamed in Awka. if you hate them so much, why should you care if they name their street Abakaliki or Club street? Why do you go to their area to trade if you don't want to be in the same union with them? It beats my imagination sometimes.
I'm sorry i have to call out Ebonyi state for the role they have persistently played in undermining Igbo unity, yet they always complain that people look at them with disdain. They just love to play that slippery undertaker role to disadvantage the region all the time.
toye440: I got this story from NIGERIA POLICE FORCE TALK YOUR MIND platform, and i dim it necessary to share it. The way and manner promotion is being run in the Nigerian police force, is getting out of hand promotion is being run in daily basis, I think there is a special agenda of nowadays promotion, a recruit intake of 2011 is now an inspector while those recruited 2002 are still Sergeant how can this happened, some are in training school More than 4 to 5yrs without promotion or any allowance, I personally spend 5yrs in training school, working day and night to improve the working condition of the personnel of the force without any encouragement, no allowance no promotion, so I want to ask this so call special promotion is Base on what, what is the criteria of this so call promotion, I think IG must hear this I think IG is not aware because I know IG himself has serve in training school which is gwoza without being promoted, iam challenging those who are promoted to show us their recommendation signal or any prove of their mariterious duties they have performed for the special promotion, I know some deserve it because if you're in borno, yobe, plateau, nassarawa, Benue adamawa Taraba, either you are in boko Haram or herdsmen operation you deserve the promotion without any proof, because I was there and I know what it's take to be in operational ground, but if you are not in this state mentioned above an you have been promoted then I want you to show us the recommendation for your promotion for us to believe that really you deserve the promotion.
I sympathize with you bro.
Everywhere you go and everything in Nigeria is now done based on religious and ethnic bias. Our country has indeed become a zoo. We must change these anomalies or this country will naturally collapse on the weight of too much injustice

Even to declare the terrorist tactics of the fulani herdsmen as terrorism of villagers, he refused to do because those dying from the terrorism aren't fulani.
EternalTruths: Why then proposed Ranching and Colony for Fulani Terrorists.?
Exactly! He proposes ranches on the land of the dead people for the fulani terrorists. But will not arrest even one fulani involved in the killing of villagers! But will blame the killing on some imaginary politicians arming the fulani to do the killing.
Now why don't you arrest the killers and ask them who sent them?
Will they at least make red tartan tracks around the field?
As a Deltan, I am always amazed the Delta state does not have a standard stadium in Asaba. Recall that this stadium has now been built for more than 25 years. Governor Ibru started it. Yet, it is far from completed.
