Major roundabout: Naira Triangle. Naira triangle should not just be left bare. It should have been developed into a great public park resembling the Port Harcourt Pleasure park or the pictures below of parks surrounded by roads as a major tourist attraction in Enugu. Where residents and tourists can come hang out in a serene environment in the middle of the city. The park will generate revenue for the state as a token should be paid to enter the park or to park your car within the park through approved gates. The businesses licensed to operate within the park will pay taxes to the state government which will also generate revenue for the state. Little walk-ways should be built around the park so that people who like to jog can go there and jog or walk round as many times as they like. A small section is built for those who want to watch live entertainment and a little section reserved for children playground.

Other tunnels in the city;
|
Perhaps why people don't know about these flyovers and tunnels is that they are not beautified as they should to showcase the city. I am appealing to Enugu state government to beautify ALL flyovers, tunnels and Naira Triangle in Enugu the way Anambra beautified Upper Iweka and Inosi Onira roundabout. Please expel miscreants from these flyovers and plant trees and flowers in the ramp of all of them!
|
To rest this issue that Enugu does not have any flyovers, i will post the multiple flyovers connecting different parts of the city here. The only thing i am begging Enugu state government to do is to beautify ALL flyovers, tunnels and Naira Triangle in Enugu the way Anambra beautified Upper Iweka and Inosi Onira roundabout. Please expel miscreants from these flyovers and plant trees and flowers in the ramp of all of them! Look at Gariki flyover, Ugwuaji flyover or Agbani road flyover, they all have all sorts of illegal structures within the ramp housing all sorts of miscreants and criminals. These types of things should not be condoned by government and should be cleared and beautified for benefit of the state.

AnambraDota:GBAM! The only thing i am begging Enugu state government to do is to beautify ALL flyovers, tunnels and Naira Triangle in Enugu the way Anambra beautified Upper Iweka and Inosi Onira roundabout. Rossikki:I don't consider google a credible source. However, official World Bank data in 2016 shows (SOURCE: World Bank: https://data.worldbank.org/?locations=EG-NG); Nigeria's GDP at $404.6 billion dollars Egypt's GDP at $332.9 billion dollars We know Nigeria has had a recession from 2016 until 1st quarter of 2018 when we grew at 0.5%, and Egypt has grown by average of above 4% per year since 2016. It is quite possible they have surpassed us as the CIA official data tends to portray. In a few months, we shall know the truth where the numbers actually stand in 2018. |
Bridges / road bridges inside the city. (No need to post satellite images) 1. Trans Ekulu bridge 2. Zik Avenue Bridge 3. Enugu international trade fair complex bridge 4. Nza road bridge New haven 5. Abakpa bridge 6.Iva Valley bridge 7. Emene bridge (Old abakaliki road bridge) 8. Many more colonial era bridges still exist inside the city. |
In the last 10 years, Enugu now builds tunnels rather than flyovers. Perhaps because they are cheaper. Overpasses and tunnels in Enugu.

arinzeejikonye:It is sad when Igbos argue blindly about Enugu that they are suppossed to know about. Think of what other tribes would be doing. I have said it that if we get every SE city to have the basic planning and roads infrastructure in Enugu, the region will be a medium developed country. What Enugu lacks is how to bring and keep businesses in the city NOT flyovers or roads.
|
InyinyaAgbaOku:Don't waste your breathe. When people who have NEVER been to Enugu stay in Lagos and argue blindly, it just makes you see how blissful ignorance can be. Enugu has more than 7 flyovers that i can count quickly. Not to mention bridges, tunnels etc. Enugu, is the undisputed champion SE city with basic road infrastructure. Infact, let me just post them so folks who have never lived in the city will learn.
|
eduj:Once folks start talking like this without doing anything, i already know it's the usual empty boasting. They got NOTHING to offer. Oga, PLEASE post the pictures and stop empty epistles. Once the pictures are posted, they will speak those epistle words for you. BIKO! |
investnow2013:Since Uche Nworah is the ABS MD, create a TV program called Improving internet infrastructure in the SE, the story of XYZ telecoms company. Approach telecoms companies in the zone such as Airtel and then, if they deploy fast speed internet facilities in the SE, you will have ABS staff pursue their development and broadcast it several times on the airwaves. That way, you will help them showcase their good work and get more customers. If telecoms companies notice they are losing clients in a certain area due to poor service, they will buckle up. Any company providing unlimited, cheap monthly internet data plan should be promoted relentlessly by ABS radio and TV for a fraction of the advertisement price, using jingles and songs played repeatedly to encourage people to patronize that company. |
bigcasava1:This has nothing to do with Jonathan. Jonathan did more for Kano intl and Kaduna airports than Enugu intl airport. He ONLY authorized international flight in Enugu, while he built the Kaduna new terminal, Kano new terminal buildings and indeed new brand new terminal buildings in all northern airports! He facilitated more airlines coming into Kano intl, yet you guys are so hateful. Jonathan was from Bayelsa, yet invested in northern airports! What can any airport in southern Nigeria say they have benefited from this northern President? He is keen on reversing the achievements of other Presidents on southern airports. |
Juliusmalema:They keep deceiving Christians with such silly quotes so Christians will not fight back and be slaughtered in their beds. Nigerian Christians should look at how MURIC has become increasingly bold because they know Christians will not say nor do anything. Christians must learn to defend themselves at the minimum. |
Ogbuefi2020:Each time i see them packing sand into an erosion area to fill it up without working on slowing down the speed of runoff flood water or rechanneling the water to a safer route, it breaks my heart the type of engineers we have now. It is like throwing firewood inside fire and hoping to stop the fire. The fire will simply consume the firewood. Water will always wash out soil unless you slow the speed of the water! Instead of packing sand into gullies, go in there and construct flood speed breakers! The water channel is still open for the flood to pass, but will not continue as erosion. Instead of packing sand into an erosion channel, they should build speed breakers that will ensure water flows through the gullies but not at speeds that cause erosion.

Igbo cities must begin to appreciate nature and balance. There is no reason why we live in the rain-forest belt where trees and flowers will grow in their natural forms and most of our cities still look like Agadez in Niger Republic or some desert town because we hate to plant flowers and trees to make the air we breathe cleaner and safeguard our environment. The pictures below show how planting enough trees and flowers can modify and environment and make the whole area habitable and healthy for everyone to live. In many Igbo urban centers today, you can actually smell diesel in the air just like many parts of Lagos.

SwedishDocument:This is good that they are making the road surface stronger. The problem with our engineers is that they have not learnt the principle that drives erosion, so they always focus on road surface instead of reducing the SPEED OF WATER RUNOFF. Americans and people in advanced countries their engineers already know that flood water must NEVER fall from a height to a bare ground, else it will lead to a massive erosion. In Nigeria, our half-baked engineers build roads and channel the drainage water to the bush knowing that there is a valley in the bush and water runoff will probably drop at great speed on that portion. They abandon that it and only after a few months of rain, the erosion created is enough to threaten the roads. Our engineers need to know that once the see that water will drop from a height, that areas the water is expected to drop must be reinforced with concrete encasement and effort made to slow the speed of the runoff flood water. We must learn how to slow that runoff water in gully erosions in the second picture

Xander85:Still a lot of undeveloped space at the mall. The mall was supposed to have two tall buildings on the entrance side by the Crunchies restaurant. See original Mall development plan below. They never finished the mall to its designed specifications and i wish they do that and rent the buildings out to act as a modern business edifices for Enugu. Banks and other businesses will love to be i such buildings in a prime area. The difference between Oyibo man and African is that oyibo man will develop those adjacent properties and rent them out and perhaps use the ground floor as events center for weddings etc. The money generated by those buildings will act as security in case the mall does not yield expected dividend.

Codedrock:The same source also posted a video that did not mention Nigeria at all ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4A_M5330pU |
Let us imagine for a minute that FG is sincere with rehabilitation of Enugu Intl, airport. 1. It will like it did in Abuja find an alternative nearest airport (Sam Mbakwe International Cargo airport, Owerri) and rehabilitate it as it did for Kaduna Intl airport to take the diverted flights from Abuja. 2. It will fix and announce the date which the airport must re-open as it did for Abuja airport. It will not hide under "Rehabilitation" to close the airport indefinitely. 3. It will ensure Enugu passesngers experience minimum discomfort by providing buses to shuttle them from Owerri Intl airport back to Enugu as it provided buses for Abuja passengers landed in Kaduna. But, i can tell you what the FG is planning is to 1. Close Enugu international airport indefinitely 2. Divert the already scheduled flights to Lagos and abandon the passengers in Lagos to find their way 3. Will not announce when the airport must re-open, nor prepare the closest airport in Owerri to take the diversion, instead they will keep Enugu international airport closed indefinitely until nobody remember to ever book a flight to Enugu or the airline gives up. |
dom: At least Jonathan was not a MURDERER and NEVER a bigot. Jonathan NEVER ordered the Police to kill anyone then he would quickly embark on a journey to London as the murderer in Aso rock today will always do. Compare Jonathan's character to the character of the man who succeeded him. |
ckenneths:All these mushroom churches are already defacing the structure with their cheap posters. I think DSS should copy the address of that church and go arrest the pastors of the church until they pay for the cleaning of the structure to its pristine state. Next time, they won't ask their people to paste on public structures like that.

ckenneths:Ala Aba mara nma! Chukwu gozie Aba! Chukwu gozie Ndigbo! Chukwu gozie Ala-Igbo! Chukwu gozie Oga Spyder ! Chukwu gozie TigerKen Corporation PLC ! Ndi na aru omalicha uno di nma ! |
ckenneths:Street trading is another issue that Abia state government also need to address in Aba to make the city decent. People just can't be displaying their wares on the street. It should be banned for anyone to encroach over the gutter and display any merchandise on the street. |
ckenneths:My only problem with Abia Governors is that till date, none have found it necessary to build a gutter network around all Aba roads to mitigate the flooding that has been happening for decades. Why is there no big gutter on that major street? In Aba, We need to replicate this type of major drainage channel which Ebonyi government built to stop flooding in Abakaliki.
|
ckenneths:The pedestrian bridge must be the Abia Polytechnic one right? |
AfonjaSlayer:Gbam! Especially Orji Uzor Kalu. Yet people still allow him to walk about freely. Aba used to be the Lagos of the East! If you lived in Aba, it was more prestigious than living in any other SE town Except Enugu and PH. All of a sudden, Aba became a by-word for filth, indecency and failed city. It was so sad to see Aba in that helpless state while none of the Abia governors cared at all for the city. I am glad Gov. Okezie is finally paying some attention to the city. It will take a very long time to bring it where it was supposed to be. But at least, the journey to recover Aba and restore it to the great city it used to be has finally started. |
ckenneths:They need to fix Aba again and build more modern great hotels so that Aba boys ji Nku, will stop going to PH every weekend to enjoy. Aba has greater potential for prosperity if only the roads are fixed and security continues as a top priority. |
ckenneths:That is Saint Joseph Catholic Church! That is Azikiwe road by St Joseph street |
ckenneths:Hmm, i'm loving this great effort to plant trees and flowers along major roads in Aba. If that succeeds, the beauty of the great Enyimba city will suddenly become apparent for all to see again.
|
ckenneths:Ala Aba mehn! Many Igbo billionaires in Lagos and Abuja started their hustling in this Azikiwe road! It was a training ground for Igbo business men when they were boy-boy (Apprentice) for their masters. Chai, Aba shall rise again to bring glory to Ana-Igbo again! |
ckenneths:Yes, its the catholic cathedral in Aba |
