signz: Ndi Enugu, Gburugburu has been under heavy criticism by Enugu Twitter since yesterday.
They're claiming that Gburugburu has abandoned Enugu City. No streetlight, no traffic light, potholes everywhere, signboards everywhere, he's only focused on land grabbing, etc.
Biko how bad is it now? Gburugburu has tried for Enugu despite the poor financial position.
I have seen for myself that he didn't drop the ball on Enugu. The roads are still maintained and swept, civil servants are being paid, he is making it easier to start a business in Enugu, vamping up IGR and most importantly he refused the indefinite closure of AII Airport, Enugu until there was a definite plan for a few weeks closure and what must be done between the window of closure so that the airport is re-opened on schedule.
Those people attacking him are like Kenneth Okonkwo that sold their soul to the devil and want to come into Lion House and start embezzling state funds. |

pazienza: Does he represent all Anambra people here? Was Zik arrogant? Was Ojukwu arrogant? Did they at any point tried to look down on other Igbos? Zik was Anambra man who decided to build UNN in Nsukka, how many of your present governors would agree to build a new University be it private or state anywhere outside the vicinity of their hometowns?
The Ikwerres would hold unto any thrash to justify their current shameless Igbophobia, you would be naive to Side them over your Anambra brothers, when they consider both you and Anambra as same "ele Isoma" in their little mindsets.
Ikwerres had problem with the ascension of Nzimiro as the mayor of PH, with NCNC support. Tell me, was Nzimiro an Anambra man? Was he not from Oguta in Imo state? One of the tragedies of the young generation of Igbos not reading their history is that they have NO IDEA why the civil war happened and they have been brainwashed by Nigerian propaganda that Ojukwu caused it.Just like i keep telling Igbos today thinking their will be no war in Nigeria because they are asking for referendum not war. War isn't fought because you wanted no war, it is fought because the other guy thrust it upon you and you have no other choice but to fight. The only thing restraining Fulanis from killing off villages and taking over their land is that they have tasted the Biafran war and know that war isn't a straightforward affair.Ojukwu had no choice but to declare Biafra after Igbos had been massacred enmass TWICE around Nigeria and the FG and the Nigerian army simply did nothing to stop it. Nigerians don't talk about events that led to Igbos running to their homeland for shelter, they ONLY tell you Ojukwu declared Biafra! As if Ojukwu were a war lord that just enjoyed to fight wars. Our youths should read about the pogroms on innocent civilians just because Nzeogwu was part of a coup The same Nzeogwu was born and raised in Kaduna and he spoke Hausa and very little Igbo. Yet, it is the Igbos that were to be blamed and killed enmass for his actions. War can be forced on you and no matter what you do, your aggressor will keep killing you until you either choose to fight and die on your feet like a man, or you will be killed as a coward. Either way, you will be killed. Ojukwu chose to fight like a man and convinced his people to keep giving war to the Nigerians until every side was totally tired and then common sense will prevail on the side of the northerners to stop the killing of Igbos so that the country can live in peace. |

One thing certain about Nigeria today is that Buhari will not accept to leave in 2019 after losing the elections.
He will do exactly what he did in Osun which is; Deploy troops to harass and kill people while INEC announces "Landslide victory" for him.
War or serious insurgency will be the result of such brazen rape of the people's will. The world powers are only making sure the crisis is easily controllable and Nigerian troops can be dealt with when they commit acts of genocide on civilians. |

I'm not surprised, yet i'm shocked that the present Buhari Federal Government imports vehicles from abroad instead of patronizing Made in Nigeria vehicles such as INNOSON.
I remember when Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria (PAN) was in operation. The same Buhari as military Head of state bought all the civil servants and members of armed forces vehicles from PAN. Even when they merely assembled and didn't manufacture any parts in Nigeria. Many rich Igbo people bought the 504 and 505 GL and SR versions and seriously patronized the company.
What has suddenly made Buhari FG to shun INNOSON made in Nigeria vehicles? Is it because the company is based in Nnewi, Nigeria instead of Kano or Daura? You be the judge.
I also ask why the same Igbo millionaires that jumped over themselves to buy a mere 504 or 505 saloon car, are not buying the fantastic J-Wagon made by INNOSON? These are the types of things i speak about when i say our people are unable to act strategically.
The Igbo guy whose company was later given a contract by Government of Iraq to build mono-rail in the country said he had been begging the FG to build Abuja city rail and he was shunned. Yet DANGOTE is given all sorts of FG contracts even when he has no company or capacity to do them. Do you get the drift? |

Handsomegod: Oyel is the ultimate curse of Nigeria. Buhari sank 3billion dollars searching for Oil in Lake Chad basin. A futile, wasteful and foolish misadventure that saw three senior lecturers from University of Maiduguri felled by Boko Haram bullets. Expatriates too. On same foolish trajectory,a contract to build a refinery in Katsina is under way. Never forget, the quest for oil was the reason Aburi was jetissoned. The quest for oil was the basis for the Biafran war. Are you aware the Land Use Act was enacted in 1968 while the war raged? Are you also aware the Petroluem Act was enacted in 1969 while the war raged still? Both of these laws gave exclusive rights and unfettered access and ownership of Nigerian Oyel to the victors and their accomplices till date. This is the only country on earth where oil wells and licenses are dashed to individuals without bidding as birthday,Xmas and sexual gifts. The only country where communities are sidelined in the ownership of the resources found in their lands and people living continents and eons away are granted ownership. Also note that Nigerian politics and all civil interactions are built around this reality. People seem not to acknowledge depth of rot and unsalavagability of this union. The problem of Igbos living in the fringes and the petro politics they were entangled with is far deeper than we can discuss on this thread. The biggest disservice Igbos do to themselves is the mental inferiority complex that somehow Lagos, Kano or Abuja is better than anywhere in their home region. So they keep investing in these strange places to the detriment of their region. No other group in Nigeria consider other places better than their homeland. The second problem is that the SE Governors have not made investing in the SE easy. I commend Obiano A LOT in this area for having a ONE-STOP location where an investor will get all approvals needed to start their business. The other SE governors should emulate that. It is hypocritical to call on people to invest in the SE while you know it is a mission impossible because all approvals and processes are so disorganized that nobody can reasonably maneuver through them. |

Curlieweed: I believe that there is an emerging consensus for self determination as the path for the survival of our people. The key difference in opinions is mainly tactical.
Not withstanding the tactical considerations, two key facts must be faced;
1. We need to get rid of the present crop of political office holders in the SE. The events of last year is proof that the enemies within are even more of a hindrance than any external threats.
In this light therefore, I believe it’s time for IPOB and similar groups to re-examine the decision to boycott political participation in Nigeria. I am beginning to believe that this decision plays into the hands of these carpet baggers cum efulefus. These organizations need to come together, identify capable, authentic Igbo leaders and support those for political offices.
2. We need to realize that the rich world does not give sufficient a shit about Africa to care about justice on this continent. They expect injustice, barbarity and occasional mass murders. The civil war should’ve taught us that. We need to realize therefore that might is right and if we want to achieve our objectives, we can only rely on ourselves. It’s pure delusion to think that UN or anyone is going to grant us anything.
IMO therefore, the steps to take are; Seize back the political leadership of Igboland from the current crop of imposters. Thereafter, we work hard to build an economic powerhouse in our homeland. After achieving these, we can then have the resources to make the appropriate tactical choices for self determination. The consensus isn't for self determination, the consensus is a TRULY FEDERAL Structure with the 6 Geopolitical regions as federating units, while we keep the present states structure as administration zones. The Present SE Geopolitical region can call itself by any name including - Biafra. Just as a piece of land is called Anambra State or Bauchi State. But that territory is still a federating unit of the country called Nigeria. The problem with Nigeria had been over concentration of powers in the Federal Government which is usually abused and creates ethnic suspicion and tension. In addition, each state will now look for ingenious ways to fund itself. The funding part may have a grace period of 10 or 15 years so that fragile regional governments can have time to develop their taxation systems etc. |

ARROBA: Air Peace to Commence Dubai/Sharjah Operations in November
Nigeria’s largest domestic operator, Air Peace has announced that it would commence operations to Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, UAE by November this year.
The airline which has acquired aircraft to operate the destination, said it would be its long-haul service before embarking on other international destinations. This was disclosed by the Chairman of the airline, Allen Onyema in Lagos at the weekend.
According to him, Air Peace has been designated on long-haul flight to London, Houston, Mumbai, Dubai, Sharjah, Guangzhou-China and Johannesburg by the federal government. Onyema, said the airline was expected to fly directly from Lagos-Paris, Lagos-Frankfurt, Lagos-Amsterdam , Milan, Abuja-Jeddah, Kano-Dubai, Enugu-London.
The Air Peace boss said the airline was ready to compete with international carriers with modern aircraft and efficient service and make Nigeria proud by giving Nigerian travellers what they yearn for, noting that Air Peace is an airline they can call their own with the best of services and pocket friendly airfares.
He promised to be consistent on the route, assuring that Air Peace will not fall by the wayside like other airlines that have entered the route but did not survive though might not be a fault of theirs.
Onyema emphasised that the airline is ready to fill the gap that government was worried about, saying that was the reason the airline acquired enough aircraft.
“We want to fill those gaps being occupied by international carriers coming to Nigeria, we want to represent this country proudly, Nigerians will be proud like Americans are proud of their indigenous airlines, flying the flag of America outside America proudly,” he said.
He explained that a formidable airline out of the Middle East is presently interlining and code sharing with Air Peace and currently integrating their system with the indigenous carrier.
“When we drop you in Dubai or Sharjah, another airline picks you from there; maybe, you are going to Malaysia, they are going to about 36 cities in India, so people will buy Air Peace ticket if you are going to Malaysia, India, some other Gulf States, Indonesia and others. You buy Air Peace ticket, check-in your luggage, you get your luggage in Singapore, we take you there, we have signed an interlining and code-share”.
https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018/10/01/air-peace-to-commence-dubai-sharjah-operations-in-november/ Code sharing with the other airlines is the best way to go. Even if you don't go to Berlin, but you go to London. You can code share with Brusell air to pick your passengers from London to Berlin. He could use one B777 300ER for Enugu - London-Atlanta-Houston flight. Then return flight will simply reverse the order. |

pazienza: The Igbo had really suffered great victimization. It would appear that 70yrs later, we still suffer victimization. And to make it worst, we had Now for the first time lost a war, a humiliating One, in which we gave our best, which turned out not being good enough.
The Igbo spirit has been broken by the events of 1967-70, the fall out of this is the self denial and identity crisis we see in Igbo boundary areas and the the decay of the Igbo high moral codes, now replaced by alien materialism.
It would appear whoever is to replace Zik in this herculean task of Igbo reunity and renaissance, has more difficult job on their hands than Zik did.
But the good thing is that unlike Zik, this leader would have the benefit of hindsight and history to direct his actions. Zik had no such, and made many fatal mistakes, consequently. And yes, we must not shirk away from this great responsibility of igniting African renaissance that Nature had bestowed upon us, by defying all forms of subjugation and suppression placed on our path. Igbo spirit has not been broken. I just think we have a generation of Igbos who are cowards. Our parents would rather die than take humiliation. Even the Fulanis respected them for that and took care not to provoke a second war. This generation only knows how to talk and take little or no action. Thus, the Fulani has learnt to do Python dance in Igboland even when it is peaceful and there were no need to kill people in their homeland. |

globemoney: Why are some of you acting like I said mbadinuju performed? I only said no other governor has touched on real estate in the state (or let me say capital) like mbadinuju and thats a fact. Most of the estates in Awka today were the brainchild of mbadinuju as far as I know, that was his only strength as governor and just a quick search I can see you also alluded to this before. You should learn to be consistent.
In case you missed it, I have always supported obiano and think he is the best Anambra governor ever. Maybe you were offline when we campaigned massively for obiano for second term here and stopped the propaganda by Peter obi social media team (of which you were also once a member) against the governor. Member of social media team? Nwanne, you must be high on something. I don't need any governor to pay me to speak the obvious. The ONLY reason i came to this site is to give and share ideas for the betterment of Anambra and Igboland. Since the Governors are on the Driver's seat in these states, the governors driving in the right direction are applauded and those who are failing woefully are booed openly. Yes, Peter Obi performed very well in office, but failed to improve the State's internally generated revenue system and failed in opening up new housing districts for Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi. Infact, Peter Obi placed a silly embargo on developing the Akpaka forest resrve which could have been a state of the art modern estate in Anambra. If he had developed the place very well, all the haphazard building that came up overnight could have been in a very well planned modern estate with underground drainage, tree lined streets etc. In terms of Housing development, Peter Obi failed woefully. At the time of his rule, Peter Obi was the best governor to ever rule the state. However, Obiano has since surpassed Peter. My only anger with Peter is that he could have taken the glory that afterall he brought Obiano for the state instead of trying to undermine him. Anambra is bigger than Peter Obi or Obiano, thus i firmly supported Obiano because i found no need for Peter Obi to attack him since he was still performing much above average. Yes, Mbadinuju was the worst Governor in Anambra's history. Many Military administrator who robbed the state black and blue were even better than him. So, i really thought you were trying to re-write history to call a total failure , a successful governor which Mbadinuju was not. |

PDP must up their game and follow results from every polling unit until it is announced correctly by INEC.
The next move of APC and INEC is to flood OSUN with soldiers and prevent PDP from monitoring the voting and they will suddenly announce APC has won the elections.
Without vigilance, APC is determined to kill anybody to subvert the will of the people. |

Look at this map...the green part represents ss igbos while the other part is se.
Can u all see that no part of igboland whether se or ss is bordered by atlantic ocean.
The ss igbos dont have any advantage over se igbos. Time to cut the nay sayers off.
Se igboland is good to go it alone...and if asaba and genuine delta igbos want, we can go it together. Others can fvck off. We dont need them. And its time we get very violent about it. Obuaku and Afikpo are connected by navigable waterways to the Atlantic ocean.
If it becomes necessary, these places can host any type of seaports needed. The rivers might need to be dredged to accommodate deep sea vessels.
The constant attack on Afikpo people to vacate their farms is exactly a ploy by Nigeria to push them away from their lands on western bank of the Cross River.
Nigeria has already built a low bridge along the East-West Highway over the water channel leading to Obuaku, therefore, big ocean liners will struggle to find space to pass under that bridge deliberately made low by Nigeria.

That easily tells you the level of revenue leakages taking place in Anambra at all levels of revenue collection. The state government should first register all businesses and buildings in the state exactly by their GPS coordinates and street address. Then use a system of tax payment whereby these people simply transfer the required sum to the government account in a friendly bank such as Fidelity, Diamond bank etc. Then it is the bank that will issue the tax payer with tax payment certificate and NOT the tax task-force people. The tax task-force are only there to ensure that businesses display an unexpired tax payment certificate or they are closed down. It is possible that the task-force people will tell the tax defaulter to pay bribes instead of paying their taxes. So the government should constantly rotate the tax task-force teams so that those operating in Onitsha are sometimes sent to Awka, those in Awka are sent to Nnewi and those in Nnewi are sent to Onitsha. The rotation will make businesses to choose to pay their taxes rather than perpetually bribing tax officials. |

raker300: I can see here many of us are wishy-washy in our fantasy of anambra.
1. What is anambra’s IGR and budget for the year? Last time I checked, the budget was 800million.
2. The only governor that has successfully pulled out a dualization was Chimaroke of enugu at new haven. The state is still paying heavily for it after demolishing over 20 houses.
3. Anambra is not a 1 town state!! After Lagos, anambra is the second megalopolis in Nigeria. Which means development is relatively widespread.
4. You all seem to forget that there’re 3 tiers of government: state, local and federal. What are the other 2 tiers doing within their ambient? I don’t see no one writing censures in relation to that.
5. In all your pontifications about beautification, none of you called out the local government which by law is actually their job.
..Obiano can do better doesn’t mean he’s not doing well. An estate, a new hotel and an old people’s home is currently being constructed in my village..my village!!
A plethora of networking roads, a cassava processing plant, new town hall and various other investments is what my village of ogidi is enjoying from Obiano..
...yes, I have a 4 flat in my village..my village and I make 700k a year from it thanks to the benue indigenes fleeing their homeland to settle in anambra All i will add is the the IGR of Anambra needs to be highest in SE. I am ALWAYS SHOCKED that IGR of Enugu and Ebony are bigger than Anambra's IGR. It is not as if people are not paying taxes, but the money leaks into people's private pockets. Anambra must use technology to devise smart ways of collecting taxes using banks. Unless that happens, any tax paid in cash will never make it into the State's IGR account. |

ANSMEDIA: There's no road that cannot be worked, it is a matter of government will. Roads like 3-3, Awka road to DMGS, Limca roads to mention a few have enough allowance for expansion. And i know that these are some of the roads that will be awarded soon for reconstruction/expansion. As for the airport, it is as important as the refinery project or even more. We all need all of them because they hold so much to the potential of the state. Oga, it has been a long time time we have been hearing "Will-be-Awarded" Abeg, do yo have a time-frame in mind? |

OreMI22: The ever rising cost of land is something that might stifle development of residential buildings in Igboland
On the Obiano question. The governor is doing very well. Dualizing township roads in already built up and congested Onitsha and Nnewi might to out as mission impossible due to the level of demolitions and compensation required. He could introduce certain roads as One-way roads. Then put functional traffic lights to guide traffic orderly. OCHA brigade should always stay at those strategic junctions and apprehend traffic offenders and impose heavy fines.
Most importantly, Obiano must Dualize the Onitsha -"33"- Umuleri road A.K.A (Nkisi road). Even if it's a federal road. That road holds the key to unlocking new areas that will enable Onitsha become a mega-city as well as open up the coastline shores of Anambra for development of world class business districts, hotels and malls. Unless that road is finalized to guarantee very smooth flow of traffic, no reasonable development will occur along that axis where Anambra still has vast land to build world class city very close to Onitsha
Anambra also needs to place more emphasis on completing the ORIENT PETROLEUM REFINERY than the silly airport project. A very small refinery can be completed as the first phase while capacity is gradually added. @bolded GBAM! |

Purehuman: When I was young, I had three neighbours; one from Agbor, the other from kwale while the third from Igbuzo. We were the only one from Anambra state then in the early 90s. Without any form of equivocation, these people speak Igbo with my parents in the compound and they keep say "Igbo people ehn" and "those Igbo people ehn". I was really stunned because I heard them speak my language and i could understand their language very well too. I was always asking my dad how are these people not igbos if they speak Igbo. He will just laugh and say I shouldn't mind them.
What I am trying to drive at is that these people really at that time didn't want to be tagged Igbo. They made it obvious with their dealings with us. The only thing they said that came close to being called Igbo is the tag Delta-igbo. There is this denial and it pained the hell out of me because in some situations, I believed we could have shared the pains of being chastised as Igbo people but they keep saying they ain't igbos. We felt the pains alone but it didn't stop us from being what we are at the moment.
The question is, can this trend be changed? Can these people find themselves back in the fold or are they gone forever? We need to get these facts right and being dragged back or our secrets being shared to their neighbours so that they will be seen as loyal to them too. We need to know, as at 2018, are you Igbo or are you Benin? We need to come to conclusion of this.
I know that it is difficult supporting the southeast since we do not have power and we don't have oil as much as the people you guys might support. But as you all can see, the people in power do not measure up and the oil isn't the case anymore. You need to align yourselves now with the people who truly cares for you and ready to take bullets like 1966 progrom.
I met a young man earlier this month, his name is Emeka. I said "Oh my Igbo Brother", he said he isn't Igbo but from Ndokwa. I just kept shut and treated him like he wanted to be treated. I brought the hand of brotherhood but he refused. I wish he had done the opposite but he didn't acknowledge me.
This is a real problem and it's better we treat it as such. I tried to avoid discussing these emotionally charged topic. But i just wanted to acknowledge that what you have said is 100% true. Any Anioma person that grew up in Lagos, Warri or Benin will never agree they are Igbo. However, the point must be made that they think of Igbo as a Geographical area which is SE of the Niger such as saying an Anambra person, An Imo person an Ebonyi person and not necessarily as a tribe.. Even though they quite realize that Igbo is a tribe I have had serious quarrels with even members of my family that named their children funny sounding name and told me point blank they are not Igbo. A lot of things happened in Nigerian history and Nigeria exploited the Igbo groups at the borders of Igboland to achieve their nefarious desire to make Igbo a minority ethnic group. What baffles me is the inability of my brothers and sisters to see that their behavior is exactly what our enemy told them and they have swallowed the poison hook-line- and-sinker. It will take a while to correct these historical errors, especially as Igbo continue to look inwards to develop itself. Part of my reason for saying Anioma state didn't have to be the 6th SE state was because i knew it was premature for all the people in the area, some of whom still think they are Bini. Yet, Bini people call them Igbo and want them out. I often asked my people why they thought Murtala Mohammed murdered our people in Asaba if they weren't Igbo, yet same Murtala Mohammed didn't kill any civilians in Benin if he thought our people were also Binis? Nobody has been able to answer that question. It is a tough thing to restore a man who has been brainwashed, but it is doable. I am ashamed of Sunday Oliseh. Some of those people like Sunday Oliseh have no idea of his history, so they talk the way their mother or father talked at home which they thought as the gospel truth. So lets continue to try with love rather than respond with hate. Here in Nairaland, many Yorubas like to claim they are Anioma or Ijaw or Ikwerre just to say very vicious things about Igbo and deflect backlash against referencing Yoruba. Sometimes, it is a simple divide and rule tactics to cause Igbo groups to spend their energy fighting their brothers. While everything in Nigeria is being stole from us. We have to be careful about these types of monikers here who claim Anioma when they are indeed Yoruba people or Fulani people. |
