Politics › $25b NNPC Scam: Nigerians Can Now See The Hypocrisy In Buhari’s Anti-corruption by Cjrane2(op): 1:53am On Nov 05, 2017
[quote author=. =]Says ‘stolen’ funds kept for Buhari 2019 re-election bid By Dirisu Yakubu ABUJA-The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the immediate investigation into the alleged breach of due process in the $25 billion contract award involving the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru. KACHIKWU and BARU Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu had on Tuesday in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, accused Baru of awarding contracts totalling $25 billion without the input of the NNPC board, even as he described his conduct as an act of insurbodination. Reacting to the development, the PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, called for the immediate commencement of investigation into the allegations, saying President Buhari should, without further delay demonstrate his anti-corruption credentials by speaking up on the alleged scam. “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to express our shock at the loud silence of President Muhammadu Buhari on the humongous corruption scandal and other illegalities currently being exposed at the nation’s cash cow, the NNPC in which two of his henchmen, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu and the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru are the dramatis personae. “As a political party, we expect that the President, who prides himself as an indefatigable corruption fighter, would for once try to live above board, by genuinely allowing one of his own, accused of corruption, get properly investigated and prosecuted as a show of his impartiality in the war against corruption. “He should do this to correct the open impression Nigerians have about his so-called anti-corruption war; that it’s just a tool of persecution of perceived enemies,” the statement read in part. The party warned against any official cover up, adding that Baru’s alleged misdeeds must be search lighted to prove his innocence or otherwise. “We view the allegations levelled against Baru by Kachikwu as too grave to be swept under the carpet and we insist that the NNPC GMD must be treated like an accused who should not have the opportunity to influence investigation into his alleged misdeeds. “We demand an immediate suspension of the NNPC GMD so that proper investigation can be carried out by the relevant anti-corruption agencies,” it stated, saying it appears President Buhari by his silence is shielding the NNPC boss in a manner similar to the case of one of his trusted officials some few months ago. The statement continued: “Ordinarily, if there was sincerity in the anti-corruption war , President Muhammadu Buhari should not have waited for any prompting before he takes a decisive action on this matter, but as customary with his administration, we suspect that he’s trying to shield Baru as he did for Babachir Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) whom he merely suspended to allow the hullabaloo generated by the fraud perpetrated in the management of the emergency fund for the IDPs, die down. Also up till now, we have never heard anything again about the millions of dollars and billions of naira discovered at an Ikoyi apartment. “Nigerians have not forgotten the acts of illegality and double standard perpetrated by the president in refusing to hand over Lawal to the EFCC for proper investigation and possible prosecution for graft, but rather, preferring to give the task of investigation of the open sleaze to the Vice President, in a move not known to any law of this nation. “Even at that, the report of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo-led committee is gathering dust on the shelf of the President because he probably could not bear to see one of his closest allies punished by the laws of the land, even when all facts show that blatant and unbridled theft was perpetrated by the president’s man.” The PDP further condemned what it called the “hypocrisy” of the Buhari administration, noting that the arms’ deal scandal for which Col. Ibrahim Dasuki is currently in custody for, was a fraction of the contract sum Baru is alleged to have fraudulently awarded. It added: “The sum involved in the NNPC scandal is $25 Billion. Less than 10% percent of that ($2 billion) is involved in the so called arms’ fund allegedly converted by the former NSA for which hundreds of Nigerians have been arrested and hounded. “Nigerians can now see the hypocrisy in the so called anti-corruption fight. We may as well say that the privileged class of APC members enjoys total immunity from the anti-corruption campaign. “Tired of this double-faced corruption fight and cover-ups, we demand an immediate commencement of investigation into this latest exposed sleaze by another of President Buhari’s men. “We have been saying this for months that the looting of the nation’s resources under this administration is record setting in the history of this nation and we are being proven right on daily basis by the little revelations that are being made by even those working under the administration. “We wonder what the stench will be when the real and hidden atrocities being perpetrated under the watch of President Buhari are finally exposed when Nigerians throw the APC government out of power in 2019. “The sum of $25 Billion said to have been the subject of the latest controversy, when converted to naira is about N9 Trillion, a sum that is bigger than the nation’s annual budget. “This we find, is one of the very many reasons, the nation’s economy has nosedived under the inept administration of the APC. “The allegations raised by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources is a confirmation of our earlier stance that the APC administration is in tatters, an administration without coordination, but one planted firmly in the hands of a few cabal who are stealing the nation dry while the President continues to feign ignorance of the sickening stench. “If not, how on earth can President Muhammadu Buhari justify a situation where a Minister he appointed to serve under him, presiding over an important sector like the oil sector, be turned to a mere house-help who must get clearance from some “outsiders ” before accessing the president? “How on earth will a mere Managing Director of a corporation have the temerity to sideline a minister under whom he works and take decisions without consultation with the appropriate authority? “How on earth could the NNPC GMD have been bold enough to sideline the entire board of NNPC and take such far reaching decisions that have grave implications on the nation’s economy alone? “We suspect and our suspicion is reinforced by the unfolding events that powerful people at the corridors of power are tacitly involved in this. If the President’s powerful Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari could sit on the NNPC board and such a calamity is taking place without an eyelid being blinked, we are forced to believe that the stealing is being done to the advantage of the President who has shown by his body language that the only thing that matter most to him for now, is his second term ambition. “Will it be considered a “hate speech ” if we say the money being stolen by President Buhari’s men are being kept aside into a special pool for the prosecution of his second term ambition? “We challenge the president to prove us wrong by allowing his allies being caught up in acts of brazen stealing of our commonwealth, get punished in accordance with the laws of the land. Anything aside this, we will take as confirmation of our suspicion that the rottenness is from the very top. “We demand as bonafide Nigerians, an express order from President Buhari to the NNPC GMD asking him to go on compulsory leave so that investigation into the matter at stake can be conducted without interference. “We also demand an order from the President to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies to immediately commence investigation into all issues of corruption levelled against Baru, as well as other persons who might have overtly or covertly participated in the illegal act.” “Much as we commend the National Assembly for indicating interest in probing the allegations against the NNPC GMD as approved in the adoption of the motion moved by Senator Samuel Anyanwu at the Wednesday plenary, we wish to appeal to the leadership of the Senate to prevail on the Ad-hoc committee set up for the purpose of the investigation, to make their sitting open to all Nigerians so that nothing will be surreptitiously swept under the carpet.”

Politics › Re: Actualising Enugu Airport’s Int’l Status by Cjrane2: 7:41pm On Nov 04, 2017
When it's Kano or Kaduna airports involved, we immediately know it's a federal airport whereby revenues go to the federal government. Thus the federal government immediately rectifies the issues.

When it come to Enugu, we immediately call on southeast or Enugu state government to come and fix what the Federal government needs to do for it's airport. Meanwhile the same FG continues to collect revenues from the airport and does not want to concession the airport so that private sector can come in and invest in improving the airport.

These are some of the reasons why the story of Nigeria shall never be a story of success because it's a country drowning in favoritism and injustice.

Rotimi Amaechi built the road from PH to Owerri and stopped at the Rivers state boundary. HE WAS NOT REFUNDED BY FG!

The same FG has not completed the dualization from Rivers State boundary to reach Owerri.- FACT!
NDDC stepped in and repaired a few really bad sections and now funding most of the project.

Are you people not tired of this nonsense?

Which SE road did Jonathan, your adopted son and hero, do for us? Was it not under the same man that Enugu-Onitsha expressway was totally abandoned portions of it used for farming?

Today that road is being looked at. I drove down to PH from Enugu this week and I am impressed with the spate of standard revamp this govt is doing on Enugu-PH expressway.

There is even a massive FG ecological project going on in my little village. First since before the war.

Hatred will not help us. We must demand more but not in this old and unproductive way you have posted.

Oga, I totally disagree with you saying speaking the truth without mincing words is unproductive. Igbos are the most loving Nigerians because any group treated the way Igbos were treated under Buhari will have taken up arms or embarked on killing fulanis in the southeast

Yes, GEJ messed up by not building key roads in the SE whom supported him. Even Obasanjo and Yar'Adua before him did not. But we know they simply had focused on other issues. Obasnjo built Onitsha -Owerri road, Yar'Adua gave the offical permission to upgrade Enugu airport into an international status and his successor GEJ completed the project.

Buhari has the Wahhabi Islamist fanaticism and hatred for some specific Nigerians especially the Igbos. Please point to one project Buhari did in the entire SE and not even Enugu. Not just that he labelled the area 5% and treated it as such, he went ahead to plot economic ruin of the region even tried to provoke the region into a war so that his intention of destroying the little recovery that has happened since 1970. Man,

Buhari is devil's incarnate. I am not afraid to say it the way it is because even people like Rochas who worked for him to gain votes in Imo state etc and told Imo people that Buhari will build Federal roads in the state and cite federal projects there. Even the roads being built by GEJ were abandoned as Buhari refused to make anymore budgetary allocation to any of them. Not minding they were in Imo state. Owerri-Umuahia road abandoned, Owerri -Okigwe road abandoned, Owerri - PH road abandoned and Owerri - Aba road abandoned.
Rochas had to do the Owerri-Orlu road himself out of shame. So, if Imo state even with all Rochas did for Buhari and they have nothing to show for it because the bottomline is that they are still hated Igbos (5%ers under Buhari),please stop expecting that praising an evil person will make him treat you differently. Evil people have no empathy or compassion in their soul and will never change.

The same Buhari that is doing major projects in northern Nigeria, upgrade Kaduna airport in 2 weeks to take international flights diverted from Abuja airport, yet he could not fix glass windows that broke in the AIIA,Enugu, we had to use concrete & gravel to patch potholes on Enugu airport runway because Buhari does not consider that an international airport in Nigeria worth spending anything to fix potholes on the runway. He even removed that airport from the list of concessioned international airports to show you he does not even recognize it as international. The worst part is if the airport is concessioned, it has a chance of being developed to its full potential as a business facility since we already know that the Federal Government & FAAN will NEVER develop that airport because it's located in a hated part of Nigeria and they will continue to frustrate every private sector or state government initiative aimed at developing the airport to a true international facility at the level of Abuja, Kano or Lagos. Think about it, has Peace airline been granted facilities to make Enugu it's hub? Has Turkish Airline been allowed to operate into the airport NO! Instead they are forcing them to operate into Kano. The same people that made a mighty revolt because ET was given permission to operate into Enugu as third entry in Nigeria, turned around and asked the same ET to operate into Kano and Kaduna airports and the suddenly the mighty argument of multiple entry points which they vehemently stated to cancel ET flight to Enugu no longer hold water because Kano and Kaduna are northern airports.

Bros, biko, if you have nothing better to say, don't say anything.

Another observation.

Many people are no longer building industries, factories and production facilities inside the Emene industrial layout anymore, I see schools, churches and housing estates springing up inside the layout.

Are there no laws made to state what the use of these lands are, I think we should restrict the use to industrial purposes and revocation of allocation done if an person deviates from the plan.
One thing the Southeast Governors should do for posterity is to DESIGNATE land for the 5 industrial clusters (One for each state) which they promised.
More importantly, they should look for locations that have abundant gas in the region and partner with indigenous oil firms and Shell to tap gas from those oil wells to supply the industrial clusters. If states like Ebonyi have no gas oil wells, it can be supplied through pipeline from Enugu, Anambra or Abia.

The gas plan for the region is the only way to reduce cost of manufacturing due to unreliable electricity in Nigeria and particularly in the region.

Nigeria has no operational ability to sustain a military engagement outside Nigeria. Ask yourself how many serviceable Hercules planes we can boast about. How many serviceable armored personnel carriers we have. Or are you telling me you haven't seen Nigerian troops going into battle with being carried by Toyota Hilux with mounted machine gun?

In 1970 after the war the Nigerian government generally gave £20 of Nigerian money to every eligible adult but no one has ever done the math.

Let us assume their were one million of them =£20million Nigerian

We know that the Nigerian pound exchanged for £2 pounds sterling in 1970 so
that would be £40 million . What would that be worth today

according to this inflation calculator

https://www.moneysorter.co.uk/calculator_inflation2.html
it would be
£432612859. Sterling
Not sure what sterling is doing these days but @ 475

that is

205491108025 Naira

200 billion

Assuming it was 1 million people that received the money. No one has ever told us how many did but I think it could be double that.

For a country to pay that out immediately after a war of such devastation is a huge feat considering that Nigeria was not even a major oil exporter in1970 and in 1970 oil prices were under $4 which when adjusted for inflation in today's money is $21.

It is a testament to the prudent financial management of Papa Awo who also kept the allocation of East Central state for 3 years and paid it all after the war

But they are not grateful and feel entitled to that payment. What have we done for the NE . Imagine finding 200 billion to give them today when oil prices in real terms are 3 X what they were in 1970

The standard of living was much lower. Let me put it in Perspective our standard of living then, There was no Lagos Ibadan Expressway. No East -West Road. PH to Aba was a single carriage way.The Air assault camp was the main airport in PH Omagwa airport did not exist. There was nothing like presidential jet. Where were the airports?

Gowon, Buhari and all the other ancient thinkers will rather Nigeria fights a civil war than be governed in civility.

Nigeria will indeed have a civil war at some point if people increasingly feel the desire to leave the Union.

Look at how the British handled the Scotland and northern Ireland desire to leave the Union by making sure they had autonomous self government for the region so much that it was impossible to blame lack of development on authorities in London. This made the same Northern Ireland and Scots who had always wanted to secede to vote for a united country.

In Spain, the central government gradually usurped the power of the Catalan regional government and the call for secession became louder and louder. It is exactly the tactics Nigeria uses to force a unitary system of government which is largely skewed towards stealing the resources of the south for exclusive development of the northwest zone in particular and the north in general that has condemned Nigeria to disintegration unless the system is reversed to what was agreed at independence for us to come together as one country.

Before we can say IPOB had impact in Anambra governorship election, voters turnout need to be less than 15%. Anything more than that IPOB cannot boast they had any significant impact in Anambra Election.

Historically, turnout in Anambra Election has always be low. In 2013 election that elected Obiano during his first term, out of about 1.8million registered voters only about 452 thousands voters voted. That gave a voter turn out of about 25%. Even with the low official turnout, there was still cases of multiple thumb printing, inflated results and rigging. Which means the actual voters turn out may be around 20%.

We need to understand this before IPOB start shouting victory in November 18th 2017 election if the turnout is low.

Mr, please fvck off my mentions. I could use an argument with a more sensible human. Thanks
Buhari Bin-Laden group and their truly shameless band of liars. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Why not just say Buhari built;

1. Lagos to Kano rail line
2. Kano to Maiduguri rail line
3. Sokoto to Calabar railway line with a spur to Abuja.
4. Lagos to Calabar railway line with a spur to Onitsha
6. Five new power plants at A, B, X,Y,Z
7. 20,000 housing units in each state capital
8. Concessioned five international airports to reputable multinational companies
9. Rebuilt and concessioned major expressways to reputable construction companies
etc , etc , etc,

You cannot say any of the above because Buhari's regime was not about development of Nigeria, it was about vengeance and turning Nigerians against each other.

Ofcourse, you can very well lie that all the above had been built because the APC goons are typically shameless fantastic liars. The fact you say them does not mean anyone believes you, we just know it's the same pitiful liars making fo0l of themselves thinking they are fooling Nigerians.

My Enugu is cool and green.
shaibu123:
If only Governor Ugwuanyi will take care of this great city like Chime, there will be no state to compare Enugu. 042 for life
While Enugu is already one of the greenest cities in Nigeria, a lot still needs to be done especially as the cities expands into Independence Layout Phase 2 areas.

Planting of trees especially palm trees to make a typical Enugu street like below is a task Gov. Ugwuanyi has been doing and must continue to do. Even in America, urban renewal is a continuous process.
In Enugu, Urban renewal and Beautification of open spaces such as the Naira triangle roundabout on Abakaliki road must be done to give the city a signature facelift. It could be transformed into a mini public park as in the second picture below since it is such a massive space. In Benin City, the governor succeeded in transforming the King's roundabout. That is what government should do instead of collecting levies from people to use those open spaces as roundabouts as illegal motor parks or illegal street markets.

Every landlord in Independence Layout,GRA, New Haven, Trans Ekulu and other new areas must be impressed upon to plant at least two trees outside their fence to help give each street enough vegetation cover, purify the air and make the place generally a healthy environment. For the other areas as Asata,
Abakpa, Uwani, Gariki etc, government will work out a way to transform the environment too.

I am already laughing because i know after they said they helped 1,000 people get married in Kano, they will write that they sent Python dance to immunize children of monkey pox and kill those that dared demonstrate peacefully. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Waiting patiently for Lie Mohhammed to come out with propaganda of how GEJ asked Baru to steal $25 billion which Buhari could have used for projects to improve Nigeria. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
Politics › Re: Buhari’s Presidency: We’ve Nothing To Show For Being In Power –North by Cjrane2: 5:10pm On Oct 19, 2017
Tell it to the birds. Truly, i don't blame Buhari for putting all his major projects in the north. I balme the former southern Presidents especially GoodLuck Jonathan that also put all their major infrastructural projects in the north just to please them and they still failed.

Under Buhari, many unreported projects were moved north and nobody dared to say anything about them. Even the ones which they could not hide as Kaduna airport was quickly updated and modernized with the most modern international airport gadgets in less than 5 weeks. A feat some international airports in other unfavored zones have not achieved in more than 5 years
Not mention the DSS recruits, the massive purge of southerners in NNPC and Federal civil service replaced by northerners, the forceful diversion of world bank projects to the north, forceful use of the NNPC and CBN to fund northeast development commission, speedy completion of Abuja Kaduna railway, extension of railway from Kano to Daura, and many many many other infrastructure that were diverted to the north.

If Buhari had not yet murdered Nnamdi Kanu and buried him secretly, he would have been very agrressive in looking for him.

But they know they have him somewhere dead or alive, so the declared the python dance over because it was merely meant to kill Nnamdi Kanu. So mission accomplished.
