Jalamoh1:
Get into first Bank with ease

Human are cruel, human inhumanity to man has no sign of ending soon.
This is a story of organisation I worked for first or last Bank.
I have no regrets for leaving, coz I have made my money and even defrauded d bank, dat dey can't find out anytime soon. Mumu bank.
I'm am writing this bcoz of d complains I got lately from guys still working with Dem called service executive.
Service executives are the engine room of first bank, they are used to there last blood with peanut as salary.
Promise upon promise of adding meagre amount to there pay has not been fulfilled up till date, this are people who have equal certificates or more with there supervisors.
Even if u can't convert dem, increase there pay to a good standard, dat dey won't grumble with money to move dem to steal.
The mumu heads (CEO, hcmd, and branches senior staff) are there to pound more and more work on u, smile all the time to customers, than to compensate u for good job done. U will all rot in hell.
Are these Junior staff not human?
Some have family to cater for, some live life miserably, but Wat is there since to go to polytechnics and get job with dem.
The Ricos, senior staff don't want to see u grow,
Rico's eat anything they like from branches wen they visit, sn have there ways of cutting contract money, inflate receipt, etc
People are working for u, u find it difficult to send dem for training, senior staff go for training and claim money massively.
First Bank stingy bank, other organizations will appreciate there staff in December by giving goodies for dem to enjoy with there families, but since I knew Fbn, dey av Neva done dat even till this time of recession.
senior staff are entitled to Pay for performance (when most of them do no work), profit sharing,up-front, other mouth watering allowances, but the HND and OND working for them are just entitled to their meagre monthly salaries.
They said there is recession they laid off drivers, cleaners, secretaries, people leaving on meagre pay,
Whereas a salary of single top official can pay all junior staff.
They employed lower credit people, so that it will be hard for dem to ask for their rights.
Promised when they get to top position they will convert service executives, till date, those people are still hoping,
When it's time for conversion, they have there own picks, they want to bring in..
I need to enter my former branch and slap some of those cruel supervisors, idiots, mumu.
Because u are in position of power, u thread anyhow
A good organization should structure a pathway for growth, when new ones come in, let old ones in service resign or retire and create job with there accumulation so far.
First Bank, make ur work place a happy and conducive environment to work
Nigeria leaders are doing there own, grass root people are doing same, when will Nigerians get rid of this cruel people, the change has begun!!!!!!
Nb :
Some are witnessing same In other organizations.
Mystery shoppers you are not left out, traitors of service executives.
If all of you do not have a positive change of mind, may woe betide you all
Jalamoh1 you really took your time to drop this bomb to have a voice and your voice would surely be heard. But before I go on, your claim of defrauding FBN is an appalling act and you should be ashamed of your pathetic and greedy self to say the least!

Well, I have first hand experience about a lot of things you said about First bank, especially the ill treatment of service executives; in as much as FBN service executives are nothing compared to those in banks like GTB as regards pay and all, I would say its a general thing all over Nigeria. I would talk more on this issue not particularly to FBN contract staff but by the general outsourced/contract staff issues we have in a lot of firms in Nigeria.

Nigerians generally love to ride on the lower people in whatever class or situation, that's why you see rich folks wanting to be the only ones who have the big generators in the area so their rich status can be felt. Its a Nigerian thing, its a social malfunction trait in us.

Outsourcing in other countries is not that bad, its just a way for firms to save cost and all, but here in Nigeria outsourced staff are basically slaves and are treated with disdain, that's so wrong!

Nigerian management team of firms take advantage of the situation of high unemployment and milk graduates dry of their efforts and reduce them to nothing all in the name of finding daily bread. Back then in 1998, I remember how my elder ones and uncles who graduated with 2:2's and 2:1's from the university making choices from lots of job offers like a kid in a candy shop
, top firms all over the country gave them jobs, some companies even paid for your transport fare to come for interviews, this got me encouraged to make sure I finish secondary school and get into University so I can be successful like my uncles and elder ones. But what is the case today? Millions of graduates with 2:1's and first class degrees can't even get a 20k a month job, how sad!

Core staff in banks scold contract staff like they are dogs, and treat them with no regard, this shouldn't be so. I promised God I would never be part of core staff who act this way towards contract staff when I get fully into FBN as a management staff.

More than 50 percent of girls who work as contract staff in banks got their jobs through sexual favours, and then when they get the jobs they still are obliged to give sexual favours to core staff that are randy and licentious, such men have the time of their lives having these ladies do whatever they want to make sure their jobs are kept floating.

But I'd like to correct one thing, contract staff make it seem like all of the work is done by them, that's not true, I have experience as a contract staff but I will state the truth, not just for the sake of truth but because I'm enlightened about what I'm saying. Bank contract staff feel because they do more of the monotonous and mundane tasks they feel they do more work, its not, yes they are not paid enough but to some degree, core staff are still more needed.

Core staff make policies and strategic decisions that decide the constant growth and progress of the bank, the contract staff that counts money at the counter is not more important than the risk management executive who makes sure the bank operates on a healthy risk lending criteria and all, I can bring a lot of examples here to buttress my point but I would stop here.

And I commend FBN for including service executives in this present GTP so they can be converted to core staff, service executives conducted AC along other non banking experienced candidates recently so I think you need to cut FBN some slack on the accusation of never converting contract staff to core staff, at least its evident FBN is converting now; with respect to this years' GTP as an example.

Finally, all I would say is that if you are a contract staff, strive for the best, never settle for your present level, keep getting more knowledge, apply for better jobs and don't stop dreaming; dream big, you'd surely get there if you are determine and focused.

SirMichael1 why do guys like you who are half-baked internet wise just love to display information you know little about? huh

Are you just getting to know about Google reverse image? GRI only works for images that have been optimised on websites that google bookmarks, in order words: images that have been downloaded or referenced a lot.

It rarely works for personal images, except maybe your personal photo has been viral on the internet on top websites or optimised pictures.

Try this, pick any of your photo on Facebook or pick any of your friends photo on Facebook, make sure you are using Google Chrome browser, right click on the image and you'd see the option: "search for this image", now tell me the results you'd get.

You'd rarely see any results of personal pictures that shows the origin of the picture you searched.

"Firstbank Targets 30m Accounts In Four Years"

www.nairaland.com/3969628/firstbank-targets-30m-accounts-four

Excerpts from the report by FBN Chief Executive Officer:

“We do have this very ambitious plan to grow the
number of customer accounts from where it is
today – about 14.5 million customer accounts – we
plan to grow that to about 30 million customer
accounts in the course of three to four years,” he
stated.

He added that Firstbank has the largest branch
network – in excess of 750 branches, the largest
number of ATMs, the largest customer base and the largest number of subscribers, making it to be fully embedded into the economy."

More reason to give my prospective FBN colleagues more hope that FBN would employ a large number of us in order to achieve the aforementioned goal grin

If that is the case, what about those using NECO result. What is their fatehuh?? N beside FBN didn't put it there that NECO result holder shud nt apply. Pls shed more lite to this. Thanks
FBN accepts NECO and WAEC, even if its combined in order to have the national prerequisite of 5 credits including maths and English. Even if you had all F9's in WAEC and you used your NECO where you scored all A1 to gain admission, FBN wants to see that WAEC as well in documentation.

And don't start giving the excuse that while in secondary school you registered for NECO over WAEC because you didn't have enough cash to register for both, no one would listen to you, and this is not hear-say but first hand information I have experienced.

Banks know that at that tender age of being in SS3 when we all are registering for WAEC, no one thought about back-dating his/her real age, most of us were around 15-19 years at such point and were young enough so there was no need to alter our real ages, and this is why banks are VERY particular about WAEC. People fake birth certificates at will and use any age they want, hence its non effectiveness in ascertaining real age and court declaration of age is just useless as well.

PS: And note, its WASSCE they are out for and not GCE WAEC, so take note.

Bro I hate to be a conveyor of bad news but your issue seems bleak! FBN doesn't mess around with WAEC DOB at all! We have talked about this on this thread before and it was also dealt with in the last recruitment thread where FBN staff talked about its importance.

Banks are very particular about age and they have figured that its only that WAEC DOB that can be trusted as regards someone's real age. A court sworn affidavit will not be acceptable, because anyone can go to a court and swear an affidavit to supposedly reduce their age.

It is "OUT", and yes it has already be released to specific Android flagships. The only thing you should say is that its by next year that flagships would release phones running on it. And when I say its "out" I mean its already developed and available to developers for use, Samsung S9 leaks which came out in June this year shows the phone would run on 845. You can google about that.

The Infinix I know will use Snapdragon 400 series or 600 series at most and their gullible customers would be shouting in excitement that they are on the same level as Samsung, LG, HCT and co now as they all are all using Snapdragon grin

PS: Snapdragon 845 is out already though, it came out in May 2017.

I don't think I would answer yes or no to that yet. But can you get me a link to the thread? Because I don't think I have ever stated any where that I work with First bank, I work in the banking industry at the moment though.

UPDATE:

grin I have seen the thread and I saw my comment, back then I was an outsourced staff, I left for another though, still as an outsourced staff. But this present FBN GT 2017 program I didn't apply as a former service executive in FBN, I applied directly as a non banking applicant.

Now to serious and correct information; make sure you are not pregnant for the ladies and generally for everyone- be free of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, tuberculosis and high blood pressure, once you are free from those you are good to go.

But something worth taking note of is the sudden irregularity of AC scheduling and the recent damage control excuses from HCP makes me suspect something is up concerning a change of plans or something, I just hope FBN/HCP haven't called it a day for AC with the numbers of conducted assessment so far, that would not be fair, the feeling must be killing to those who have waited for AC all along and just suddenly are not given a chance because of some management decision.

Everyone is human I know, we all make mistakes no matter how thorough we need to be but HCP has a score down on this one. Why put a 6weeks time frame without actually anticipating what might be? A lot of us have put a hold on some other plans so as not to get entangled with having to turn this or some other stuff down.
At least they should have just grouped everyone at the same time, instead of having to send a few mails every week. just doesn't cut it for me. This is one part they(HCP) need improving on.
You couldn't have said it better!

Knowing how many candidates they can handle for each day for AC, they would have just spread all candidates across the 6 weeks period and notified everyone the same time, it would have helped to cool down tension and helped people to plan better in areas like travel finances and other things that might come up unplanned.

Then they would have allocated one week (last week) which would have been known only to them for people who would have rescheduled their AC date.

In as much as I commend HCP for their organisational competence, their AC invitation timetable is a goof!

hello everyone
Been following this thread since
My own case is different
An Uncle of mine working in First bank called me to send my cv and i did.
I got a mail from VLA that first bank sent my CV to them and i should come for recruitment process.
I went there ,wrote the test with just about 6 other people
Then immediately after the test, they brought forms for us to fill..Attestation form, witness form,Health insurance form, pension form etc.
We even got to pick the hospital we would like to be using .
Then they gave us 4 guarantor's form n 2 reference forms to take home to give people to fill .
We went back after a week to submit the guarantors forn and also documentation.
They collected our results n documents also.
So they told us to go and they will call us soon.
Still waiting on them to call though
Its been 3weeks already though
Does anyone have a similar case.
This thread is for First bank graduate trainee recruitment, what you were interviewed for is a contract job role with Firth bank and VLA as the outsourcing firm. Your case is indeed different from ours here o! grin

Does anyone have idea when the AC exercise will end? And how soon will the result be out for next phase #shalom
AC should end next weekend, that's 5th of August 2017, that would make it 7 weeks, that's if we consider that HCP extends it by one week, if they extend to two weeks it should end on the 12th of August.

After then, those not successful at AC will not be notified, but the day you open your email and see something like "FBN 2017 GTP bla bla bla" as subject, just start shouting hallelujah and celebrating, because that would be me and yours invitation for medicals and documentation grin

From the time of medicals/documentation to training school invitation is never more than one month interval, and from reliable sources I heard the first batch of training school students must enroll before December, so this long awaited process is finally closer than ever!

August is upon us already by next week, as from mid August to early September, medicals/documentation emails would have surely come in.
EducationRe: UK Universities With The Highest First Cass Degrees by cloud9usher: 4:34pm On Jul 27, 2017
Statsocial:
So now I see why it seems most Nigerians seem to grad with First class from UK universities.

All I would say is if you graduated with any kind of second class just go for a masters because 2.2 would become the new 3rd class and 2.1 become the new 2.2

The labour market is already getting filled with many UK graduates. And Covenant university just emboldened other private universities not to hold their students back from 1st Class by producing about 10% First class degrees. Many public universities like Unilag and UI are already seeing that they put their Alumni at a unique disadvantage in the labour market by intentionally downgrading them academically. So the public university system would become more liberal as the years go bye.
Lalasticlala
You have talked well, but concerning the bolded it doesn't hold water.

In the job market this doesn't imply if the candidate got employed with the 2:1 or 2:2 grade, in years which you claim that a 2:1 and 2:2 would downgrade those who graduated with such grades most have gone far in their careers and would be assessed by their professional experience, when have you seen managerial positions or experienced hire positions putting much criteria for first degree graduation grade? What they just talk about is experience and higher qualifications like professional certification and masters.

What you are saying would only apply to entry level positions, or except the candidate would have no work experience all the way till that time when the 2:1/2:2 downgrade would start happening.

Well, I just saw the content of the file, and I must say that IF IT'S CREDIBLE AND ANYTHING TO GO BY, then I'm really disappointed in the AUC. An answer to a question of whether or not successful applicants would be deployed at the start of the new year says that CVs of trained volunteers are matched with available vacancies within the African Union’s Organs and partner organisations. Volunteers are encouraged to continue with their normal lives until they have received official communication from the AUYVC

Well, I think that's really crappy. Why should they ever call for application when there aren't vacancies?? Why not make deployments in batches?? What do they take us youths for? Youth engagement and participation my foot! And I thought they had a different touch and approach to things, better than my beloved Nigeria, it's crystal now that they don't! They too lack organisation, desultoriness eats into their core too. I really am disappointed. They aren't ready for that socioeconomic renaissance they claim to aim to achieve with this scheme. I fear for Africa.
AlexisM16:
After reading the FAQs last night, I was also so discouraged to find out NYSC is more organized that AUYVC. At least NYSC guarantees you a PPA and even accomodation to some extent.

To think that all my hope was on this one. My enthusiasm took a nose dive last night and I no longer look forward to the excitement of participating in the programme.
Guys, there are a lot of advantages to this program. Don't lose hope on it, make sure you are shortlisted for the next stage.

One of its advantages even before deployment is having all your expenses paid to fly to South Africa for pre deployment training, and visa is also facilitated by the AU.

Lots of people have never travelled out of this country and to have South Africa(the most developed country in Africa) on your first visa stamp and your sponsor being the African Union would give you room for other opportunities should you wanna travel outside the country, many people are denied visas because they are first-time travellers but with an African Union sponsored training in South Africa on your visa I'm sure very few countries would deny you visa. I know someone here on Nairaland who only attended the pre deployment training and the dude was off to Canada the next month and ditched the volunteer job, and in his visa interview it was this program which gave him an advantage in convincing the interviewer why he should be given a visa.

Also, I don't think there is any candidate who went for pre deployment training and wasn't deployed eventually, at least from the past volunteers I know of.

Thanks a lot. You have been of immense help, I will try my best to do as you have said and stay optimistic. You say they give us points readily available for us to present. So group discussions are only for the essay?
No, what you discuss with your group members in the group discussion is what you would use to build the information on your slides for the Powerpoint presentation, and its the same information you got from the group discussion you'd also use for the essay part.

So make sure you take down notes in your group discussion

thanks a lot for this? anything else u think we shld know? asides from the group session and individual presentation
You'd start with your group discussion, make sure you are audible and make sure you give valid points to the discussion and make sure you take down notes of every thing discussed because you will need it all through the assessment.

For the logical and numerical reasoning, try and be VERY FAST in this section, they deliberately include impossible to answer questions in there to waste your time, immediately a question is taking more than 50 seconds then leave it and move to the next, you have barely one minute for every question, just 20 minutes to answer these questions.

For the presentation I have discussed that already above.

You'd write an essay as well as I have explained above.

Then there is an panel interview as well, be confident and cover all basic interview questions but make sure you prove that you would be an ASSET to First bank in regards to what you can bring to the table, then also know all about First bank so you can give you take on this if asked.

Then lastly, please dress to impress, appearance matters as well and there are points attached to that as well.
Also, psyche yourself that the AC is not some difficult thing and prepare for it well and you would turn out enjoying the whole thing, I just had fun through the whole thing and enjoyed myself, when you are not stressed you would perform at your best.

All the best to you guys still to do your assessment, you guys should get done already so we start expecting success mails for medicals/documentation.

Thank you for letting me know. I just read my email three days ago and I was so happy to see it. I could not even believe it knowing that I did a lot of guessing a.k.a tumbum tumbum in the aptitude test. Please how does the power point work because I don't even know where to start sef and group discussion topic, what will it be. Any info please
First and foremost, learn Powerpoint on the popular Windows 7. All the computers I saw in the computer room ran on Windows 7. And since you are not too competent with Powerpoint learn with Windows 7, don't complicate yourself with Windows 8.

About learning Powerpoint, just learn the basic things, how to open the PP package on the laptop, how to use the slides, how to add text to the slides, how to move to the next slides, then how to make your slides show in viewing mode to do a presentation and how to move from one slide to another by using the back and forth keys on the computer you'd be provided to present it on.

There is nothing complicated about it, from the group discussion you must have gotten all the info you need for the PP, so all you'd be doing is just filling the information on your slides, that's all.

For the presentation, my assessors didn't say a word all through my presentation but just watched while I explained so I don't know if other people where quizzed about some things doing the presentation. After my presentation one of the assessor just looked at the other and said "For me I don't have an objection or question, or do you" and the other one said "No." She then said she just wanted to add a short professional point being a banker as she feels that info is important as well and I took note of it and I thanked them and left.

The point she gave me came in handy in the essay because in the essay part we were to write about the group discussion and there was a part to add your personal additions which was not discussed in the group but you feel is important as well so her professional info came in handy in that section of the essay.

In your presentation don't just drop the points as you typed them on the slides and move to the next, try and explain them aptly but don't waste too much time explaining because you have a limited time to present.

All the best to you, its not as stressful and difficult as it seems, its just a well-rounded assessment of your competence and skills.
