Hephgirl: what materials did u use... I used www.mini-ielts.com for my reading and listening practice. For writing, I used ieltsliz. And for speaking, I did my own little exercises at home and used YouTube a lot. Of course, I also used some of my own tricks In some hours, I'll share a more detailed post on tips for attacking the different test components. |

MRSDA: I wonder what it is with the writing. I scored, 9, 8, 8.5 and then 7 in writing. I graduated top of my class in English literature and I know I write very well. I didn't even know it was possible to contest but thankfully it was OK to apply so I didn't bother my head about it. This is another evidence they are just doing their own thing. You don't graduate tops in English Lit and then get a 7. Good thing you met the requirement. |

I know I spoke better than my nonsense examiner who was combining British and Yankee accent. I was tempted to ask for a remark in Speaking just for my own self esteem but thank God i did not cos I got my ITA less than a week after I entered the pool.
My friend, God pass them. Enter the pool sharp sharp! You have the highest points obtainable for each Sure, will be entering the pool now. I got my ECA already. |

ken4jj: Please guys. Is it compulsory that you must have the required POF before entering the pool? Will not having the required funds in your account stop stop you from getting ITA? Nope. It won't stop you. But you need to make sure you have the POF and a good justification for any lump transfer by the time you are applying |

Ehrnie: Of course not....it is not an issue. The issue is if the USA visa expires and you haven't used it at all....and that's issue with your subsequent USA visas and not CAN visas. You mean if I have a US visa I didn't use at all for 2 years, then it'll be a problem getting renewal? |

GlitteringStar: Today's draw::::433
Congratulations to all the new ITA recipients (Dammiehar, XX01,yimiton et al )
@yimiton, hope you have not yet paid for the IELTS exams you registered for?
Foreign nationals who, on August 9, 2017, at 12:15:03 UTC, have been assigned a total of 433 points or more under the Comprehensive Ranking System that is set out in the Ministerial Instructions Respecting the Express Entry System, as published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on December 1, 2014, and as amended from time to time, occupy the rank required to be invited to make an application for permanent residence.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/rounds.asp Wow. Nice! If there's gonna be another this month, we could be looking at 420. And even further drop. |

dupyshoo: This is unlike EU citizens that can pack their bags and work in any EU countries without the need for visa. This is my definition of easy to visit and work Of course if this is the definition you mean, that's a world of difference, which to mind is even unsustainable. No wonder we had Brexit and the growing cracks in the EU. Many more will likely come. It's just not practical to create such migration scenarios where someone can just pack their bags and up to another country. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by cochtrane(m): 11:27am On Aug 09, 2017 |
dupyshoo: Not correct. You can easily visit but not easy to work. I cautiously disagree with you. Canadians enjoy a lot of visa privileges with the US. NAFTA makes sure of this. Perhaps the only the difficult part is to first get a job in the US, but that itself shouldn't pose that much difficulty if you can easily travel to the country in your scouting for a job or maybe even create one. Some Canadian Silicon Valley tech founders have been known to use their own company to apply for a H1-B visa for themselves. This can eventually go on to earn them a permanent residency. Now sef, Canadian startup founders only need to meet some criteria to enter parole for up to 2 years in the US. Furthermore, it may not be easy to get a job in the US for a Canadian for the simple reason that US citizens are competing for the same jobs. But it doesn't mean settling in to work in the US is difficult once that job is obtained. |

XX01: Nigerian root wetin? All of these things we are doing is to remove limitations from my kids. Nigerian passport is the least valuable, I will glady drop it for them. Most of our kids will hardly identify with Naija anyways and their kids will do same. Haha. Abeg o. We need some patriotism. |

elfmann: I know but I'm highlighting it mainly on d double taxation aspect. Many folks don't know this..well when these american born kids with Canadian citizenship are hit with the reality, some would renounce their Us citizenship. Haba! Again, it depends on where u live and make cash. even if you live abroad, you may still be subjected to tax on foreign earned income. Just not wise to maintain citizenship of Canada and US. What's the benefit in the long run when you can already easily live and work in both countries with one citizenship? Acquisition to no end. |
