Hamiltondreamer: @40manlappy says I need to have 16 years of education history. I checked and I didn't input any for primary school 6+6+4. That's the only thing I can see at the moment. My funds are way over and above. Like I said it was the ielts that was my concern but I read somewhere 6 is the least score.
If your IELTS is less than 2 years, it shouldn't stop you. They need CLB7 and you meet it. Could it be your experience? You need more than 12 months. It's something you not noticing. Maybe you should share more details. Do you still have access to change your profile?
nkigirl: Hello all. Good evening. I have an issue with my NOC. I worked as HR officer for a few years . I moved to another company and I am now the HR manager but I have worked for just a year in the managerial role. I want to claim hr manager NOC 0112 but saying I have worked for just a year reduces my CRS score. Is it possible to claim the full 3 years and use both ref letters for HR manager and HR officer. I don't know if I should just use the 1 year NOC like that.
NOC misrepresentation can be a big deal. In this case, you should simply go for what affords you the more experience (HR officer?). They really don't care very much about how senior your role is, but instead about how many years experience you have in your chosen NOC. Years of experience max out at 3 for express entry and at 6 for FSW.
Except you find a NOC that settles between those two duties, don't misrepresent.
Hamiltondreamer: Good evening all pls I need some help with my application. I filled my application and got a mail saying ineligible. The only thing I can see that may have made my application ineligible is my ielts LRWS 6.5,6,6,7.i know my score is low but am planning for Nova scotia and I would need my EE no.I assumed 6 is the least score required or am I wrong About my results I also plan to rewrite
Did you use the Come to Canada online tool to assess your eligibility?
[quote author=yemdogg post=59443848][/quote]Evidently, for your first question, a LOE should take care of it. You are after all gonna explain about the visa refusal anyways with a form. The VO should understand.
And for the second question. You are already going about it the right way. Yes, Treasury bill certificates are allowed. I believe you bank should state that in the letter they'll give you. And you can also attach the certificate.
Dammie2017: Hello house, pls I need some advice. For pcc is the 6 months at a go or cumulative. I usually travel to the uk every year in the last like 7 years. Will I need to get pcc . Thanks in advance
It's cumulative, not consecutive. Below is from CIC website.
Jugdement: This really is the most confusing part for me. Any inputs?
Inferring from the attached extract from CIC, you can see the importance placed on graduate and post graduate study in addition to a 3 year study. I think college study will fall in the category in the exception quoted.(I.e secondary school & high school).
My opinion (remember that i'm not an authority or VO), please tell your friend to err on the side of caution and select a bachelors Degree.
GlitteringStar: Wow, quite confusing. According to Wikipedia, "College in Canadian English refers to a technical, applied arts, or applied science school. These are post-secondary institutions granting certificates, diplomas, associate's degree, and bachelor's degree". This makes it more complicated
I will suggest that he should use his "Bachelor's degree only" to be on the safe side. Someone shared this (check the link below) few days ago.
In doing some research, I found some insight. I think you may be wrong.
The ECA Page said:
ECA assessment results:
A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree
PLUS any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school), or:
Post-Bachelor's Certificate Post-undergraduate certificate Post-Bachelor's Diploma Post-undergraduate diploma Graduate Certificate Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration] Postgraduate certificate Postgraduate Diploma Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration] Graduate diploma two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline] two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration] one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline] Dual Bachelor’s degree (four years)
and by the bolded, I think they meant those in these sections below, but of course "not including the Secondary School Diploma":
Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute Two-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute Secondary school (high school diploma)
In which case, he should be able to claim "one-year certificate". That would give him the "two or more certificates". Don't you think?
I think, the "OR" that followed was now to elaborate that if the one-year or two-year diploma was post-Bachelor's, then it would still be acceptable.
I may be wrong though. But that's what I feel they are trying to say here.
Ehiobe: How soon does one get the official ielts results after it appears online? I am hoping to submit express entry profile in time for the next draw just waiting for my ielts result.
How soon does one get the official certificate after it appears online? Immediately. But the British Council at your location will have specific days of the week scheduled for picking up certificates. If you in Lagos, it's Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
I need some help. I have an accountant friend who evaluated his credentials with WES. The summary is shown below in the attachment. It says "Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's degree (four years) and completion of a college-level certificate (one year)"
So, here's the thing: he submitted for evaluation Bsc, ATS, and also ICAN. Apparently, WES has evaluated his ICAN as "the credential is not comparable to a completed Canadian education credential", but has evaluated his ATS as "completion of a college-level certificate (one year). So, producing the summary above.
Now, here's the question. Can he use this to claim "two or more certificates"? I found this a bit tricky given that the professional level of ICAN is not recognized, but the junior level is, and thought he can't. Yet, the summary from WES states that he has two or more certificates obviously.
This really is the most confusing part for me. Any inputs?
(d). You are not interested in being evaluated as a specialist (or professional in a licenced profession) and just want WES to evaluate your degree as a normal 4-year study? (applicable to medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, law, chiropractic medicine, or pharmacy) Revert back to (a)
CLB 7 = Speaking - 6, Listening - 6 to 7, Reading - 6, Writing - 6. However, in order to score more points, you need to aim for CLB-9 and above, i.e. Speaking - 7, Listening - 8, Reading - 7, Writing - 7
Step-3 Do you have work experience of 1 year or more in Nigeria or your resident country? Good. If yes, then you are on your way to qualifying under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program. Do you have a relation in Canada, related to your by marriage, adoption, blood? Brillant! If yes, more points for you. But there is the next step!
What's CRS score? Qualifies you for invitation to apply as a federal skilled worker. However, make sure that you indeed qualify as a federal skilled worker by taking this eligibility test here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp
You will be applying for express entry (immigation) under the federal skilled worker program.
Step-5 Create an account and fill up your Express Entry profile. Your profile will consist of all the information above.
Provided we get a draw in the next 7-10 days (<Aug 21-22), we should be looking at a CRS score below 433 or maybe even below 430, following this trend. The earlier, the more below 430. Anything greater than 22-Aug could cause a bump in orange curve like the arrow shows for previous cases and we could be looking at an increase in the CRS score, maybe greater than 433 or even 440 Anycase, CRS score is not looking likely to be greater than 450 in the next draw.
Asihanmi: Hello House, my spouse and I intend writing IELTS September 30th next month. Our second attempt. It is GENERAL IELTS for the purpose of express entry though. Our work schedule is so tight but we plan to take the bull by its horn as we have procrastinated for too long. So I need your assistance for materials. We will be fine if we can have overall scores of 7.05-9. I need urgent help for materials. Tried going online but there isn't enough materials. Your urgent help is required and would be appreciated.
You tried to go online but there isn't enough materials? I think you should check again. There's a wealth of material online to rival the hold at the library of Congress.
Check the following sites or you can just google them: Mini-ielts.com - you can practice reading and listening here Ieltzliz.com - check here for tips Ieltzbuddy - check for tips and practice materials Ieltsallears - more tips, especially on speaking Ielts-exam.net - for exam samples
YouTube You can find more than a 100 listening and speaking samples there.
sleekysilk: I beg to differ. My IELTS report number started with 17 so also that of my husband and not 16. I want to believe 16 is for those who wrote in 2016 and 17 for this years test. (Not sure though). And our surname alphabets are just 3 as against 4 quoted by cochtrane. Following your Obasanjo Olusegun's example, I and my husband have '17NG00candidate numberOBAO150G.
Like cochtrane rightly said' do it at your own risk. I'll advice we all get our result and not do permutations.
It's not even my post. It's a post quoted from April on this thread, and I have merely quoted it for reference purposes. I don't think anyone should use it, abeg.
OK..I need to rant..if u plan to sit for IELTS in Ibadan or u have sat for it there and you seen ur result online but the hardcopy of the result is not yet with u, which means u can't update u profile with the test form number. Its simple...the test form number comes in this form "16NG0..(ur candidate no)150G" for general training only oh...by d way the 0 after the NG is zero not alphabet O.
I missed yesterday's draw because UPS didn't deliver my spouse's result until this morning. and I was too relaxed cos I thot the next draw will be next week. I should have just changed the candidate no...
NB...do it at ur own risk!!!
Posted only for reference. I'm giving no advice to use, please
eliment: How much will it cost me to do ielts don't mind me I am a novice in this travel section. I will also like to know if there is a center that's more favorable to write the ielts.
It will cost you 68k to write the exam. There's really no favorable location as such. Schedule an exam where you are based, if there's a British Council there.
cheapphones: July 29 ielts LRSW: 7.5,9,8.5,7.5. I feel like running mad right now, one more correct answer in listening could have upped my score to 8 and my crs from 381 to a whooping 413. I had 9 in listening in my first ielts so maybe I was over confident.... I might apply for a remark sha tho I know chances are slim but I have time.
What a miss! Apply for a remark and register for another test, if you can. Wish you the best on your second trial. If you need help with practice tips, pop in here.
gustalnov: Thanks for the good work you guys are doing here.
I have a small question please. I evaluated my OND and Bsc with WES and the summary reads "Canadian equivalency: Diploma (2 years) and Bachelors (4 years)"
Honestly have no answer on this. It's one of the questions confusing to me. Hopefully will be getting some light on the question soonest.
Binchie: No. Can you please check Noc 3121 to give you a better understanding?
I actually did already. As far as licensed professions are concerned, CIC seems to have just two orgs which provide credentials assessment. That's why I asked.
Binchie: Good evening. Do you have any idea on which body would be good to evaluate an Optometry degree? It's an O.D (doctor of Optometry) but not under Medicine.
Oneyoungwife: Lol. It's not like that but have you seen the number of pages on this thread? I just want a smooth job. Pleaseeee someone should help out

Hahaha. Can't stop laughing. I guess Canadianfly has outed me already. Yes, people could say I'm "nerdish/geekish". Maybe
I'm an engineer anyways. And looking forward to getting this PR thing. I should have started long ago, but somehow my motivation (regarding PPR specifically) hasn't just been there. Maybe it's cos I feel way too comfortable where I am. Now sha. I'm pushing it.
Congrats to everyone on getting their IELTS score. Re-marking is definitely the way to go if you scores aren't enough. From my survey on this thread most scores are revised upward after remarking.
These are my tips on IELTS:
As you know by now, IELTS has four components: Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading.
As with any other language exam, the intent is to assess your language abilities, and since language involves all these components you have to do each in order to pass.
What are the useful tips when practicing?
Listening: You should use IELTS websites available online for listening exercises. www.mini-ielts.com is a very useful tool. Similarly, there are useful listening exercises on youtube, e.g.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vzxrUW-4TU. The idea is to practice as many times as possible in order to get a feel of the exam. You must not tire in your attempts at maximising your scores. But what do you want to do while listening in order to improve?
1. Make sure to guess the answers before the audio begins playing. When they say read questions 1 -5, etc. Read the questions and guess the answers. That way, you have an idea what's coming into the gap. Noun? Verb? Number? After several trials, you might be able to guess the correct answer before it's said (rarely happens though)
2. Put up a positive outlook before listening. Maybe even mock the speaker in your mind, or question their motives. Ensure you maintain a generally lively attitude while listening for answers. This makes sure you are not distracted by anxiety.
3. Listen for the answers! It's not really necessary to listen and understand the conversation. Of course, a general understanding is necessary. But a complete understanding is irrelevant.
4. Note that the answers ALWAYS come chronolgically, i.e. they will say the answer to number 4 before they say the answer to number 5. So, once you get the answer for number 3, start listening out for the answer to number 4. And not just listen out for the answer, listen out also for the context.
If you use mini-elts.com very well and you get repeatedly good scores, then you should be able to get a 9 in the listening. That's simply because the tests on that site are a notch higher in difficulty than the tests on IELTS.
Reading You can use the same website for reading exercises. Practice is of course also key here. Make sure to practice often. What steps should you take to improve?
1. The answers often, but not always, come chronologically on the reading tests. So, if you find the answer to number 4, you may need to look a little higher up in the comprehension to find the answer to number 3. If you are pretty sure that the questions are coming in chronologically, then don't expect to find the answers to question 5 below that of question 6.
2. Read the questions first before reading the comprehension. And if you can, just scan the comprehension for the answers while reading only lightly.
3. One major thing on the main IELTS exam is that the question is ALMOST ALWAYS a paraphrase from the comprehsion. So, look for answers in the comprehsion that are also paraphrases.
4. Be careful with absolute words such as always, most, all, never, etc. Once you see this in the "TRUE, NOT GIVEN, FALSE" sections, look twice and be sure you are choosing the correct answer.
Speaking For speaking, you can use YouTube mostly. There are a lot of speaking assessments on YouTube where candidates are assessed by examiners and the corresponing IELTS score is stated. I'm sure you'll find many of them useful. Just type in the search bar "IELTS speaking". This is one of such
Similarly, you want to practice some speaking in the confines of your home. BE familiar with terminologies to use in the areas of Food, House, Hobbies, Cooking, Work, Your Hometown etc, which almost always make up chunks of Part 1 IELTS speaking. There is a YouTube channel called "Oxford Online English" which went into a lot of details about it. This is one of their videos:
Writing Well, for writing you just wanna try your hand on a lot of writing samples. This site has a number of samples you can look at for comparison: www.ielts-exam.net
The chief thing to note with writing is that you need to learn how to organize your thoughts and then express them in paragraphs. You also need to put a template in your head, which you can follow. An example could be:
Paragraph 1 Introduction My Opinion Summary of First Reason and Second Reason
Kontagious: Thanks @ elfmann, Hephgirl, Wura27 and all for the support, I've registered for the nearest available exam which is about a month away, will get to the EOR come Monday. Just a bit painful the earliest I can take that precious dive stands at late September. God de.
@ cochtrane, quite understandable when you're marked down but your result still gives you the highest attainable score you can get. Just let it slide. Maybe BC would have given you an award had you smashed all components.
Great result @ DetechMan.
Good to know you are contesting. I'm fairly confident the score will be revised upward
MRSDA: You are amazing! Thank you so so much. This is for an employee though...I guess I will edit to show the services we provide. I am the director of the business.
