House Bill 1526 So basically republicans are trying to pass a bill that stop judges from reigning in Trump when he does something unconstitutional. Effectively telling us the judicial arm no longer exists in their opinion. Where are those “we have checks and balances” people? The group that claims Trump can never do whatever he wants because it requires an act of congress. Come explain how this bill is not him seeking more power for himself and bypassing both congress and the federal judges. WASHINGTON – This evening, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1526, legislation that would constrain federal courts’ ability to stop the executive branch from carrying out illegal or unconstitutional actions. This bill – if passed by the Senate – will prohibit federal district courts from issuing injunctive relief that extends beyond the parties of a particular case. In essence, federal district courts would no longer be able to issue nationwide injunctions when examining federal policies, even if those policies have nationwide effects. These types of injunctions ensure that courts can prevent civil rights and liberties violations for thousands – and at times millions – of people who are in similar positions to a case’s litigants. These injunctions have been used in multiple instances during both Democratic and Republican presidencies, including to block potentially unlawful executive orders or federal policies with devastating consequences while legal challenges could proceed. |

Worried about the wrong thing. On the wrong thread. Originalsly: Why refer to him as her? ... some of us can really bend to pressure from society and we don't even know. Accepting him as her today ... by tomorrow we'll be sleeping with a born man... our mind reprogrammed to see him as a woman
I'm not saying killing another human being is right or justifiable .... but I can guess why he was treated like a swine . To any straight man ... Picture this ...
You're in a club ...dim lights ...and a fine babe is flirting with you ... chemistry is super good ... you're dancing..close .... rubbing and caressing ... and .....kissing. Things got too hot for the club... you both leave and head to the privacy of the hotel ...all jacked up...then at the last moment ...she reveals she's a trans .... born male.

Not just him though. A bunch of those people arbitrarily rounded up and sent to those death camps haven’t actually been accused of any specific crimes. I mean they have tattoos but I have tattoos too. So I guess I am a gang member now. I don’t know any of these people and wouldn’t swear on my life that they are not gang members. But that’s where the burden of proof comes in. Can’t sentence someone to a fate that can’t be undone just on a whim. The cruelty is unfathomable. His only 'crime' is being Venezuelan and having tattoos, says brother of man 'thrown to the lions' in El Salvador jail
Nelson Suarez learned his brother Arturo is - most likely - in a notorious El Salvador jail only because of a photograph he spotted on a news website of a group of inmates, with their hands and feet cuffed, heads shaved and bodies shackled together.
'My brother was wrongly deported from the US' Until five weeks ago, Arturo Suarez was a professional singer, performing in the United States as he waited for his asylum claim to be processed.
Originally from Venezuela, he had entered the US through proper, legal channels.
But he is now imprisoned in a notorious jail in El Salvador, sent there by the Trump administration, despite seemingly never having faced trial or committed any crime. The White House claims he is a gang member but has not provided evidence to support this allegation.
His brother, Nelson Suarez, told Sky News he believes his brother's only "crime" is being Venezuelan and having tattoos.
"He is not a gang member," Nelson says, adamantly, "I've come to the conclusion that it has to be because of the tattoos. If you don't have a criminal record, you haven't committed any crime in the United States, what other reason could there be? Because you're Venezuelan? IjeBos: I think that is the thing that I find most concerning. This guy Garcia most likely did nothing wrong. The US government has not provided 1 piece of evidence against him. Yet they call him a terrorist or a gang member. So he is sitting in a prison camp in El Salvador probably being raped there by the same MS-13 members a judge found he credibly feared. He will be changed, his wife and kids also. For what? All people are asking is that the government take him to court and prove he did what they say.
But people in this thread are laughing about it and making jokes as it they can't feel any empathy or could ever imagine them or someone like them being in that situation where they are falsely accused. You don't have to say anything, but to choose to me casually cruel?
Something is broken there.

bemeruca: MS13 member is who you are killing yourself for? The Maryland mother that was killed by an illegal, do you know who she is?
2 courts adjudicate him to be MS13. He is gone and Trump Admin does not have to bring him back When it’s your turn you will be the Nigerian gangster that was credible accused of being a gang member by “reliable sources”. Sources that judges would later determine are not credible and that no actual case can be made against you for being a gang member. But it won’t matter. Because people in your klan will tell others “is it that Nigerian gangster you’re killing yourself for?” Even when they can’t name on thing you did that made you a gangster. There’s a reason why even the most egregious offenders are afforded due process. Let alone someone who was identified by sketchy sources at best. Especially with no actual specific crime linked to him like murder or aggravated assault. But who am I fooling. This won’t make difference to you or anyone who thinks like you. You actually have to be the one going through it for it to matter. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: 2026 Midterm Elections Live! by cococandy(f): 5:19pm On Apr 16, 2025 |
Obviously everyone is going to find “evidence” that justifies their bias. If you search online, mixed opinions abound. So called confirmed sources seem to be secret informants who could be anyone with an axe to grind. That’s why due process is the key. And due process was what was lacking in this case. Meaning that anyone of you who are so casually using the term “shilling for a gang member” could be the next victim. I realize that’s the new catch phrase 🙄. But If Trump decides you’re a gang member tomorrow, that’s what you are and without due process you can be subject to torture and death in a foreign prison at his discretion. Without due process. That’s what you guys are supporting. I don’t care if he’s actually a gang member or not. We have prisons in America. Let him be tried for whatever criminal offense he’s committed with proof and be sentenced for said specific crimes. That’s how American justice works. If we don’t have jurisdiction over El Salvador, we shouldn’t t be sending prisoners there. As with any good propaganda, this is missing important context and information.
The “proven reliable source” was a confidential informant. The referenced court proceeding was a bond hearing in 2019 and the IJ was Elizabeth Kessler. Judge Kessler relied solely on the assertions made by the ICE informant. Since this was a preliminarily bond hearing, there was no evidence and there was no ruling that Garcia was an MS-13 member.
The informant said that Garcia was guilty because he was wearing a Chicago Bulls hat. Judge Xinis, reviewing this information as part of her case, said this “evidence” was “vague” and “uncorroborated” and nothing more than a verbal claim.
After the preliminary bond hearing, Judge David M. Jones, another IJ, held a more extensive hearing. He found the claims were not proven and granted him a withholding of removal due to fear of gang violence.
OP says he was not mistakenly deported. Again, wrong. The government itself in multiple circumstances including official court docs admitted this was a mistake.
Selective quotes, missing context, omitting important facts.

I think he should buy a tent and camp out in front of the White House until his pleas are granted. It was all good when he thought his vote was going to hurt someone else. Sucks that people like me cared more about his business than he did and we voted to protect his livelihood but his hate led him to vote against himself. Can’t reason with hate. Too bad Dear President Trump, @realDonaldTrump
I am the founder of a clothing brand called CUTS. We are a bootstrapped business that has been around for eight years and are a true example of living the American dream. We’ve built this business to millions of dollars in revenue over the last eight years, had a tremendous amount of success, provided jobs to hundreds of people, and I believe I am an example of the prosperity possible in America.
I voted for you in 2016, 2020, and 2024 because I believed in your vision for the country—and I still do. However, the recent tariff changes are happening too quickly. Removing 321 de minimis at the same time as increasing tariffs on China from 25% to 145% will be the death of thousands of eCommerce companies just like @cutsclothing . These are businesses that bootstrapped their way to success, created American jobs, and are now enjoying the fruits of their hard work in this country.
I understand and support the goal of putting America first—we are fully aligned with that mission. But the way these changes have been handled creates tremendous uncertainty for brands like ours. By placing tariffs on Vietnam and other countries, and then changing them so quickly, we are left unsure of what to do. More importantly, we need time to adjust to new legislation.
Regarding 321 de minimis, we were proud to use that exemption. In 2016, you mentioned using a “Hillary Clinton loophole” to lower taxes—and I respected that. That’s what a smart businessman does. Similarly, we used de minimis as a way to compete in a global market. Removing that, combined with the sudden implementation of heavy tariffs, would make our current margin structure unsustainable.
My goal in writing this is not to oppose you, but to stand with you in your mission of making America great again. We want to protect American jobs and help bring manufacturing back. CUTS is ready to help lead that charge—but it cannot happen overnight.
My request is that both the removal of 321 and the China tariff increases be delayed with enough time for U.S. companies to react—which, for production businesses, is at least 9 to 12 months. That time would allow us—and companies like us—to adjust, set up new manufacturing, and even pursue U.S. production that aligns with your vision.
I humbly ask that you take this seriously. Every day this continues, more businesses will fail. Solving one issue but hurting the very people who voted for you is not the best outcome. Mr. President, we believe in you, and we know there are things you see that we cannot. I hope you take this into consideration—so together, we can make America great again.
Respectfully, Steven Founder & CEO, CUTS Clothing

Only fascists have a problem with activism. Hopefully Harvard not only has resources to stay afloat without the Government, but they also have the resources to fight back. Education is the greatest enemy of fascism, that's why they're so desperate to control it. Education standards cannot change according to whomever is in power every four years. Harvard and other universities were here before Trump and will be here long after him. It might come to be seen as the moment the “woke liberal empire” of Donald Trump’s most fevered imaginings struck back.
Harvard University, the world-renowned institution emblematic of the elitism that Trump and his coterie hold in contempt, received an extortive demand from the administration that it surrender the core of its academic freedoms – and promptly told it to get lost.
That, in shorthand, is a summary of the exchange of letters between three Trump officials and Harvard’s president, Alan Garber, that may in time be seen as something of a turning point in relations between the administration and academia.
Echoing pressures imposed on other elite colleges, notably Columbia University, the Trump team – representing the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services, and the General Services Administration – had demanded sweeping reforms in how Harvard is run, including the installation of viewpoint-diverse faculty members and the end of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programmes.
The backdrop to a demand for what would be unprecedented government interference in the affairs of the world’s richest university is the alleged rise of campus antisemitism, arising from an upsurge of pro-Palestinian demonstrations that have gripped Harvard and other colleges following Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack on Israel and Israel’s retaliatory military offensive in Gaza.
Critics, however, see a more nefarious White House agenda – namely, gutting universities of what it sees as a liberal-left bias, while using antisemitism as a cudgel in an authoritarian power grab.
Having seen Columbia cave in to similar demands and threatening $9bn in federal funding, the White House may have thought it was on to a winner with Harvard.

It’s what their programed response from their right wing echo chambers are. If you watch or listen to right wing media, you can actually see where they pick up their talking points word for word from. That’s why they usually have nothing to say in defense of their leader when he has some new harebrained antics until they report to their indoctrination class and pick up the word of the day. Now the word of the day is terrorist for anyone who disagrees with them. Paving the way for them to justify whatever is done to whoever they don’t like in the future. @bold, sometimes you see one of them get so so close to clarity then the switch flips and they return to their regular programming. I wouldn’t hold out hope honestly. IjeBos: I feel sorry for people who use the word like that. It shows a lack of depth.
But it is exactly what Android17 was pointing out though he didn't stand by it fully. IjeBos: This is the problem innit. A nonsensical post like that is what Republicans think is "well said".
California's economy is the 5th largest in the world. How many red states can boast that? In fact most Red States are bottom in every metric. So, success or how well a state is run isn't measured by quantifiable economic metrics but by "that some people are leaving".
Levels of anti intellectualism, intellectual dishonesty and stupidity from aa guy who tried to sneak into liberal Canada and pretends he lives in liberal Seattle, not conservative Russia or Conservative El Salvador, but liberal Canada. I can't. They’re obsessed with us If you turn on Fox they keep talking about California, New York and Chicago nonstop. Maybe to distract them from how crappy their own states are. The problem is that we still have way too much magats in California. Wish they could all hasten their departure. If they all left, watch whatever is holding the state back disappear. And we are doing amazing Inspite of them being the cogs in the wheels. I went to work in rural California a while ago and one of the nurses there who has a bachelors degree in nursing (meaning she had to have passed anatomy & physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, pathophysiology) to name but a few relevant courses, looked me in the face and told me the left is promoting abortion of babies after they are born. Gerrard59: The concept of nationality and citizenship can always be changed by any president. not according to the American constitution. Biden anti-China semiconductor laws mandated ethnic Chinese who are naturalised Americans to choose between working for Chinese technology entities or being Americans. Does that sound right where someone of a different ethnicity/race is mandated to choose between his/her ethnic enclave and naturalised home? My summary is that the world is changing, so individuals have to change with it. The concept of naturalisation and citizenship will change in the near future.
Also, I watched the video of this thread and there were clear examples Donald reeled out. So the headline isn't complete and fair to Trump. I'm all for dealing with criminals thoroughly, ruthlessly, mercilessly and brutally. The precedent has already been set where they’re sending people who haven’t been convicted in a court of law to El Salvador. In addition to using words such as terrorists to describe those who disagree with them. It’s just a very very dangerous slippery slope and not something to support. You don’t dislike criminals more than the average person does. Let him follow the current US constitution for dealing with criminals. It’s been working. In fact more people are locked up than there need to be. The escalation is unnecessary and it’s so easy to see that is a ploy to get rid of dissidents. |

Apparently there’s a study that shows a real difference in conservative versus liberal brains. Where conservatives have a slightly larger amygdala which is the primitive part of the brain responsible for fear and negative emotions. And liberals tended to have more gray matter which helps with forming empathy and connections. Without extensive and continuous replication of this study, I don’t know that I’d cite in a professional work. It could very well be outdated. And I don’t think it takes into account people who switch sides as it suits them. But it does ring a few bells if you wonder too much why you can’t convince a conservative to care about anything other than themselves. GloriousGbola: ben shapiro is a failed screenwriter. a lot of far right conservatives failed as creatives. there is a theory that this is because they lack imagination. ie empathy is you picturing yourself in the same situation, or trying to imagine a situation
but it is impossible for them to picture a person like themselves being arrested and locked away in a cell for doing nothing. which is doubly ironic because this is something that can happen to literally anyone in nigeria outside of the mega rich and politically connected |

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will end its 100% match for Helene disaster recovery in North Carolina.
“The need in Western North Carolina remains immense — people need debris removed, homes rebuilt, and roads restored,” Gov. Josh Stein said in a news release. “I am extremely disappointed and urge the President to reconsider FEMA’s bad decision, even for 90 days. Six months later, the people of Western North Carolina are working hard to get back on their feet; they need FEMA to help them get the job done.”
Stein had asked the federal government to extend its 100% match. He received the denial news while in Newland with people who lost their homes in the storm, he said. More than 100 people died in the storm that caused more than $60 billion in damage to Western North Carolina. When Joe Biden was in office people actually received assistance but they kept lying that all the money was being spent on illegal immigrants. Now a Trump appointed head of FEMA is in office. What’s their excuse?

But we were fear mongering right?. That was the first gaslighting technique they used. Then when it turned out it wasn’t a lie after all, it became “they deserved it”. I just watched bemeruca call IjeBos a terrorist a few pages back. He confidently classified someone he knows is not a terrorist as a terrorist. That is where we are with them. So logically if IjeBos were to erroneously end up in ICE trouble for whatever reason even though he’s a citizen, bemeruca would say it is where he belongs because he’s a terrorist? This is where we are in 2025. That’s what happens when you lose your soul. GloriousGbola: It is starting with the undesirables. There are now articles indicating that over 70% of deportees have no actual criminal record.
This is actually not surprising. It is law abiding people who have records that can be used to track them down. Actual hardened criminals who frequently break the law will not have known addresses or places of employment and will be far harder to apprehend.
What is happening is normalization of fascist dictatorship secret police who come for your neighbours in the middle of the night.
This is quite literally 'first they came for the Jews'
Anyone who has actually read history should know how this goes.
Being a successful and well to do black professional or businessman will not matter. Same way they tagged all the deportees as ms 14 gang members, they will tag any Nigerians as Nigerian fraudsters who stole from the American people. These shithole country people are the ones destroying our great nation. They stole from children. It will be the same process they pick you up from work, from your house. No investigation, no actual precedent. No records. Maybe they take you to a prison in Liberia or Congo.
Quite literally if an ice agent knows of you and personally dislikes you for some reason you can be renditioned to a hellhole cell in a far away country and forgotten there.
Which incidentally is what happens a lot in Nigeria with our incompetent and malicious police. People are picked up in raids and forgotten in cells for decades.
Which is why team trump is using phone apps. So there are no records of any of this.
Anyone you don't like will be tagged so it is easy for those without empathy or sense to justify what is happening. But the way it ends is a police state where there are no dissenters left
Think Iran and religious police , think east Germany and the stasi, think the Argentinean dirty war. Think Iraq and the numerous 'terrorists' who were taken to Abu ghraib and gitmo.
Stay safe out there. That is all I can say.
This shit is being normalized |

I just hope black people keep ignoring them and living in abundance of joy like they’ve been doing since this election. No protesting. No activism. Just relax and watch them self destruct |

IjeBos: It was about getting rid of the "undesirables". You know those non white people. Dangerous times. They’ll say it’s victim hood 🤓 Until it affects them specifically, then they’ll start doing a 180. Like that rancid Candace Owens who was so foul towards other black people in her support of the racists. Maybe she thought she was going to become press secretary. But Just like other tokens who came before her, she was spent and discarded when she became useless to them. Left unchecked they’ll come for everyone who says anything against them even these ones kissing their butts here. |

1) Yet California is financially subsidizing the so called well run red states. If they got their shit together, why do they depend on us? To the extent you’re bussing your homeless to California and then turning around to talk crap about homelessness in California. If you had the common sense to know you can live wherever you want regardless of the politics of the place, you should’ve put that common sense to use long ago when your side was asking democrats to leave. Stinking hypocrite. 2) this tired trope of switching to blame the LGBTQ community every chance you get is played out. It’s low IQ low hanging fruit meant to tickle the stupid. When I say you guys demonize science, I never even mentioned the LGBTQ community. But that’s where your mind first went because that’s what your default programming has been set to. Now you can’t think outside of that box. UK, Canada, the Scandinavian countries, in fact most of Europe, even Thailand all have far more progressive policies around LGBTQ issues. Why isn’t it a hot culture war and political debate topic for them every election cycle? Maybe because republicans identified that as something they can use to rile you people up and have you acting like a one minded horde anytime the election comes around. Trump was even on camera saying they should leave the topic and bring it up during election season. Because even he knows that’s the only purpose it serves. 3)When I say you guys demonize science it’s because you’ve settled into being anti-research, anti-vaccine, anti environmental ghouls. Not once did I even mention the rainbow community. But like a brain addled MAGAt. That’s the only thing you can think of because you’ve been convinced they’re your problem in life. It’s pathetic that your existence is being marred by people who dgaf about you and don’t affect your life in any way. So much so that you don’t even know there’s an anti science right wing movement beyond this little topic. Where right wing moms are promoting ingestion of unpasteurized highly pathogenic foods like milk. Protesting against proven disease prevention measures because they’re romanticizing cave life. Railing against environmental protection measures. You people are so lost that you will keep drowning yourselves every chance you get in LGBTQ drama even when they don’t mention you while the rest of the world is progressing and moving on into the future. @bold, we’re not the one carrying tiki torches into the street causing violence and screaming Jews will not replace us. Neither are we killing police officers and hanging vice presidents. Last I checked, that was the right wing. So peaceful 😌. Party of “family values” and rapists who fantasize about sleeping with their daughters. bemeruca: Your side and celebrities complain nonstop and say they would leave. Your points here are childish at best. I have common sense to know that I can live where I want, and I will leave if it is not conducive for me. A lot of liberal/progressives are leaving liberal/progressive heaven, like California and New York, for a better life. people from California and New York are moving to states like Texas and Florida, with North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and even Arizona. all these states are red states except for Arizona, which is a swing state. so why are them moving? well, lower costs of living, taxes, and lifestyle preferences,
If the liberal lifestyle is so good, why are conservatives and liberal running to Red States?
The politician did not turn it to a 3rd world country the first time, there is no need to cry the sky is falling. Talking about 3rd world country, How many poop do you jump or step on a day in California? How is the homelessness? Even in 3rd world countries like Nigeria, we don't see that level of homelessness in Lagos or Abuja. we don't even have the kind of shit they have in the streets of California. liberal leaders are opening the border for every kind of people from 3rd world countries to cross, so who is making the country into a 3rdworld country?
When science starts telling me men can get pregnant, should I believe them? I believe in science but not the one your guys are pushing on us. Demonizing healthcare because you’re told to do so.
See your side, the people who follow science and the college professors.
I don't promote anything. it is your side that would burn, attack, and make people lose their jobs who don't suckup to your ideology.
You should guess why liberals are moving to red states |
