I find it very funny when people say they laugh at feminists who according to them ends here. You want equality and women to be treated well but you don't want to do anything about it. Yet you can sit down and laugh at those that are doing something. The internet is a powerful platform to reach people. Facebook would not be rich today if people did not recognise that you can reach a lot of people. At the time feminism was at its infancy in the west, there was no internet and even today the western feminists use Internet. Also how many feminists in nairaland do these people know outside nairaland for them to know that it ends here or do they want to tell us that they don't know any feminists in the real world?

there's nothing wrong with the title, if the stats is as high as 50%, then one can conclude its a nation of wife beaters - especially when nothing is being done by the law to curb the menace.

police rarely get involved in domestic violence. the churches usually ask the victims to persevere and stay in the marriage. this is not good enough. steps should be taken to punish the culprits.

Is that thing suppossed to be a sport? cheesy

My friend has a whole room dedicated for her golf balls and stuff, travels all over the world to play/watch golf. I will never get it. You kick/tap a ball, watch it roll into a hole, go pick it , repeat cycle. My sister, what sort of dead sport be that? cheesy I agree with you, it's a good place to network.

Disney is overpriced and crowded. We were once at Orlando , stayed at one of the disney resorts which was suppossed to guarantee us fast and express entry into theme parks but all na wash. It was so crowded, one spends his/her energy on queue to get into the parks, get on a ride , get a table at the restaurants or do anything worthwhile. We'd be looking at Paris this year and I sooooooo pray it won't be anything like our Orlando experience.
@ bold, see what I told you? Who travels all over the world just to watch golf if their money is not overflowing? grin
Man I'm sticking with that crowd o.
I can get my entertainment later. There's so much other fun stuff to do. Let's get to know the rich people first. lipsrsealed

I beg to disagree with you sis. True its very possible but in this case I feel she still wants something with her ex. One year after marriage is long enough to forget he or she ever exists in his or her life and besides she must have courted her hubby for a while which is also long enough period to erase memories. Its not like they got married a week after they meet. * I could still be wrong though *
There's really no set time for anyone.
For Some it could be weeks while others it could take a few years to totally have that unconscious memory out of their brains.

If you found yourself mistakenly writing your maiden lastname on a form where you're requested to fill in your lastname after 3yrs of marriage, you would see that there's no time frame to it.

Even after having not used my old email for close to a year, I still mistakenly write it where I'm supposed to write my new email especially if my mind was elsewhere.

I feel like OP should know what the possible cause for that is. Rather than worry himself to death where there is nothing to worry about.
It would be easier for them to handle it knowing what may be causing it than fight and create the exact problem he's trying to avoid.

It's simple memory malfunction.

"Proactive interference".
Where old information sometimes get in the way of new information in the brain.
Note that it doesn't happen to everyone. But it is fairly common.

She must have dated the other guy for a while and has become conditioned to saying 'mike' whenever she wants to address her man.
So this new man 'Jim' can be addressed as mike unknowingly.

It will take time for the new 'Jim' habit to be formed and the next man 'Andy' can expect to be occasionally called Jim until his name becomes the habit too.

If I had known this before, i'd have spared myself some unnecessary fights with an ex who used to call me his ex-girlfriend's name.

Anyway that's what some women get for being desperate about marriage.

Why won't they be treated like trash when all it takes to make one a person deserving of respect is marital status.

You do understand their stance regarding the idea of first lady is actually restricted to the "Legal/formal office" not necessarily the title itself.

She is our first lady but her having an office mean the office has to be budgeted for and there really isn't a provision whatsoever in our constitution for that
It doesn't say that in the thread.
She actually said to be address as 'wife of the president'
So clearly she means regarding title too.

What's their to answer again when it's evident that financial pressure is one of the single most important reason for divorce
I'm not talking divorce here.

I'm just asking plain and simple of it is ok to blame the man when his wife cheats on him because he's not meeting up to his roles as a husband.

If they can say it's the wife's fault that the man cheated with the maid and can't say the same when the wife does it with some guy helping the husband with his duties, then it is plain hypocrisy and of course just as excuse to justify bad behavior.

As always.

All the guys here are just typing rubbish as if their brains have been removed from their heads. If a woman not doing all or most of the chores is justification for the man screwing the maid, then I guess a woman is justified for stepping out on her husband if he cannot provide for the family. The husband will bear the blame for the wife cheating on him since he can't step up to his responsibility
Would any guy care to answer this please?

It's impossible to totally mitigate againts possible avenues of temptations in marriages since the individuals are expected to have some sort of self control and respect.

Having said that, you also shouldn't actively ignore factors that can indirectly allow temptation to grow wings.

You don't go hiring maids with bodies like beyonce or tyson beckford and not expect some sort of temptation
while that may be true, it still doesn't make sense to blame the one person for the other's betrayal.

At least some accepting responsibility for one's mistakes would be nice.

Those men raising their gateman's or driver's kids without knowing nko? The fact is anyone can cheat with an employee under them and in that case, the blame belongs to them fair and square.
No need trying to justify or rationalize.

The rest of your post is delusional at best.
And you're typing this from under a cave or what?
The woman can't start her life again if the marriage with the man ends? Really?
Her life will end too? undecided undecided undecided

Phew.

drehdinho:
This is exactly the mentality most women have. And it's always being their undoing in marriages. To bring in male as house help is far better to getting a female as one. A male house help knows if he tries any nonsense with boss's wife, he will heavily pay for it. Propably, by going to jail. Because nobody knows him. And for this reason ,he will want to comport himself.

However, on the other hand, a female as house help has no such feelings. Since it's the king of the family that suggested "the bleeping tingy" , she won't give it a second thought. She knows that even if the aftermath is for her to get pregnated by madam's husband, she would become madam's equivalent. So here is my advise for the married ladies. Don't encourage female house maid into your house. If you must get a house help, let it be a male. And don't always believe you have equal right with you husband. It's an insane believe and it can be dangerous. It can ruine you and your entire life. The man can still always start a new life with another woman. A word they say is enough for the wise.
