If I'm the man I will leave her even if I forgive her.
Yes nobody wan die but I can't live with someone who almost killed me even if it was under duress.
It may not be her fault but the memory of that day won't let me still be in love afterall.
That he even refused the pull the trigger first and was ready to die than kill her should have made the lady think twice nay thrice

For me it is empathy.
It tops my list.

If at any given time, a man or a woman is able to put himself/herself in another's shoes then I believe they will make a good spouse.
Because once you're able to do that, you will without effort become fair, kind, tolerant and accommodating. You will ALWAYS treat him/her the way you want to be treated by him/her.

Your mother is still their grandmother.
He doesn't have the right to cut her out of the kids lives. Yes you need to maintain boundaries but also don't let anyone disrespect your mother and of course don't disrespect his.

I feel like you're enabling the sidelining of your mom too. If your first choice of who the kids should stay with was your mil and the second was your mom just because your mil wasn't available shows that you've joined them to assume your mom is not the best to take care of her grandkids in your absence.
Which kind wedding vendor stories be this one? They are just the dominating kind of folks. If he still had his way during the wedding to employ the vendor he wanted, why does he still resent your mom. And over a trifling issue for that matter.

nickibarb:
no, he wasn't on the phone with her all through. it was more like after seeing my text message, she calls him to talk about it. I didn't hear her side of the conversation but I know she asked if he was sure he could take care of the kids and he replied in the affirmative.

also, after he pushed me down, (i won't say beat up cos it was more like a struggle to take possession of the wallet), he called his mother after it had happened. while he was talking to her, i started screaming in a bid to make her hear me through the phone, that he was trying to kill me and she has refused to intervene by taking my call).

my husband said he doesn't like my mum cos when we were preparing for our wedding, she was trying to impose her choice of wedding vendors and other details about the wedding on him. i had told her to handle things like caterer, decorations, venue, etc cos i hadn't relocated to Nigeria yet. he relocated before me. i also told him that I had asked her to make decisions on my behalf. he eventually had his way, we did everything the way he wanted and got defrauded by the wedding vendors he chose. I've told him that whatever happened then, is not enough to cut her out of his life and prevent her from having access to her grandchildren. i wish i knew what else to do about it.

Exactly.
Jahblessme:
I wonder why you are focusing on your mil?
Your husband is the one who pushed you and you sustained a head injury.

Your husband is the one who locked you out of the house.

Your husband is the one acting like your parents can't care for your children.

You both have issues which are deeper than you are letting on and I feel the focus on mil is a way to deflect.Take care to discuss with hubby that getting physical is something you will not accept! You too be careful what you do.

Your husband and his mother have huge plans for your kids, with you in the picture or not.You are not even allowed to make decisions on the care of your own children.Locking out of househuh And you are busy focusing on MILhuh

You'd best start sorting this out before the river will swallow you.
You are the woman of the house, better solidify your position there. You can ignore or patch up with MIL later, your choice.Of course you will be forced to say sorry for something you aren't guilty of,forced to say sorry for her disrespecting your parents too. That's the naija method...total humiliation.

What did your parents do that they are not allowed to care for their own grandkidshuhThey will be cut off very soon unless you stand up for them and refuse to allow this nonsense.Abi they are not as rich as your hubby and therefore underlings??

Good luck,you will need it!!

You also do not know the circumstance that brought about the sleeping and pregnancy. Do you think only ladies are raped these days? He might have been seduced, drugged or something...
the bottom line is that he cheated. He wasn't raped or anything. He admitted doing wrong.

So to the matter,What does the rape that happened years ago have to do with his cheating?
OP just used it to color his story to paint himself as the saint who did what no one can do and so deserves to get away with whatever attitude he puts up into the marriage.

See people insulting the woman for the man's offense. Shey it is now a crime to be the victim of an assault? She's a disgrace because people stronger than her took advantage of her?

This their case is one of the most interesting of recent times. Following the events closely. Hmm

There's not much of middle ground for them to meet each other halfway without one of them consenting to be a parent against her will or the other not being the parent that he wants to be.

Lanadelrey:
This story doesn't ring true. But if it is, the lady in question has the right to decide not to forgive her husband's infidelity and leave the marriage afterall marriage is the union of 2, even the bible in corinthians says divorce is wrong except for the sin of adultery. So before god and man she is allowed to decide if she can forgive this and as it seems she can't, she's allowed to move on with her life. And to the person who said she should be lucky a man married her after being a victim of rape, you're absolutely vile and disgusting for that statement. This woman has been through a traumatic experience already and knowing this country she didn't get any counseling or and psychological rehabilitation after the incident and from what you say she didn't get justice either, she worked through this entirely on her own strength and willpower and knowing the stigmatization in Nigeria she must have endured her fair share of mockery but she decided to be strong and she got married in hopes of a happy life full of love with her real life Prince Charming, since this man can't be that for her, she should leave and go find happiness alone or with someone else. The man is an absolute douchebag and the only spell he's under is that of his utter selfishness. You find a broken person trying to heal, make them love and trust you, then break them even further. Humans are poison!!!
@bold,Even the topic gives away the whole sentiment behind the thread. "Yea she was raped and someone married her. What else does she expect from life?"

After how many years since the rape happened, it seems she's expected to live with it everyday.
He cheats: pls lady don't get upset because he dared to marry your raped behind.

I feel sorry for my fellow ladies. Truly angry

Enoquin:
My mum is a beautiful woman, kind hearted, strong, tolerant and wonderful woman. I have rarely seen her deeply angry and I fear her anger more than my strict dad's own because it means not seeing her smile for a while.

But this human story isn't about her. It is about our last born. I want to touch on what he did for me last year that touched me deep.
He is in year 1 now but last year when he came for his second post-utme because the first didn't come out well, I felt bad that he was cooped up in the house most times; there aren't many places to goin Uyo so I usually allowed him to go and watch matches by giving him money especially since he had exhausted what my parents gave him.

We all needed to go for my aunt's wedding september and my parents thought it wise, he waited and came along with us and so of course I needed to fix my hair before traveling. The human hair I was to fix had been kept in readiness but while sorting out the hair bag, I saw another human hair and instructed my sister to wash it for me. She did and because the cloud had darkened prior to her and my brother going to church, she didn't hang it out to dry but spread it on nylons in the house.
It was still cloudy when I left for church, so I didn't spread it out either. I don't attend the same church with them and mine close pretty late, so on my way back, I received a call from my brother. He wanted to know if I was coming home soon, I replied that I was.

When I got home, I met him fanning the weaves. I stood with mouth agape for a while before I asked him what he was doing.
His reply "You are fixing your hair tomorrow, I want the weave-on to dry for you"
I was speechless and humbled. I quickly told him, that wasn't what I was going to fix before the dude jump up talk say im wan go watch match wey don start cheesy

That event has stayed with me and makes me more proud of my siblings...you see, our mother raised us well...so it's still a happy mother's day to her grin

Thanks.
naijababe:
Easy, peasy!

Two over-ripe bananas
50g of butter
75g of sugar
Flour - (your choice here, could be white or wholemeal, these days I use 3/4 wholemeal and 1/4 coconut flour)
Walnut pieces (optional)
Some nutmeg and vanilla essence (optional)

Method:
Mash bananas until it forms a smooth paste, add eggs and beat together. In a separate bowl, mix sugar and butter until mixture is creamy looking and fluffy. Add the eggs/banana mixture and fold until thoroughly mixed; use a balloon whisk if you have one but a wooden spoon will do the job just as well. Gently fold in the flour in small quantities, it is always best to add in bits otherwise you will end up with a dough that's too thick, add the walnuts, nutmeg and vanilla essence. Pour mixture in an oil bread ban and bake in a pre-heated oven for twenty minutes.

If your dough become too thick, you can add some cold water to get a smoother dough. That's it wink
