More of the nonsensical posts against single mothers. And surprisingly some retardz are wondering why people would be harsh on a dad who abandoned his kids for the lady to raise by herself. Seeing everything single moms are made to go through to raise children that they have no choice than to. Since they can't just take off like the dead-beat irresponsible dudes that fathered the kids in the first place.

The only thing I see wrong with that picture is the fall hazard they are playing with. You don't climb out of a pool, dripping wet to play such games on the slippery tiles. One can fall and split their skull open on those hard floors and edges. Shudders.

Meanwhile the sexual connotation attached to the picture is only for dirty minds. Those people need to repent.

Please don't take offence whatsoever. The answer to that question is this: Imagine an Engineer preferring a medical solution to a Doctor. He might be right in the solution but it might come from an engineering point of view. The practicality of the solution would be confirmed during application. Read some posts before now and you will understand what i mean.

I am not the fan of "changing number things". She still has her number. Like i said whatever does not change before marriage does not change because of marriage. Change is an individual resolve.

misguided characters that are hell-bent on pulling down the former President, despite his clear record of diligent service to his country and long-standing commitment to the good of society.

There is no doubt that there exist such people who may have scores to settle with the former President but are now feeling frustrated by the fact that his national and international profile has continued to rise, despite their recourse to endless muck-raking character assassination. Such people will stop at nothing to continue to throw obstacles, albeit futilely, on his path
Few nairalanders come to mind. You people will suffer shame for trying to pull down a man who has done nothing to you but serve diligently.

Coco, no swallow panadol on my behalf. I will answer u. grin

I have had my numbers for ages now. I have had friends (and still have friends) who are females. I am not of the school of thought that once you get married its a different life (you change character, phone number etc.). What you can't change before marriage cannot be changed because of marriage. Change is everyone's personal decision to make whether marriage or going to be married or single.

Except you are suggesting i change my numbers and this will come with a cost i am not ready bear now.

So my question to you, are you married? smiley
What has my marital status got to do with your predicament?

Yes I suggest you change your number. It's a cost married women bear all the time. Tell me, if your wife has men begging her to come sleep with them that you'll be happy if she continues to keep the connection between herself and them alive. You guys actually have guts. Talking about how you can easily get it outside. Like this thread won't be up in flame by now if your wife was the OP and made such careless statement like you did.

No you've to do what you have to do to save your marriage (if it means something to you)
So yes change it. It's not that big of a cost. The important people will have your new number. Stop keeping temptation alive in your home. We are all humans and can fall to prolonged temptation. Don't tempt yourself.

About the hate, what can they really do? You know mothers' love. They'll keep on loving even when they get disrespect in return. Poor women. I don't know if anything could hurt more than giving life and giving your all to someone who looks at you and wishes you are not who you are.

God forbid I use this my womb to bear a son who will repay me with hate on me and his sister/s. I'll send him back to where he came from.

Well let's see how far the hate can be carried. Will they hate their own daughters who will be 'unfortunate' to get the black gene from them? Will they discourage any suitors who come for their daughters because she's black and not fit to be wifed. We are watching.
Stillfire:
Absolutely. I feel like giving uppercuts to the black women joining in this nonsense black lives matter mantra which should in truth actually be 'black men's life matter'. grin grin And women partake in this crap for sons that HATE their freaking guts ?.?.?.?.? You've got to be kidding me! grin grin grin
The biggest racism a black woman receives day in day out comes from BLACK MEN!
More than half of black girls have been sexually assaulted before the age of 18. Which one requires urgency from me? Some 'police brutality over a black man we have to pray he is not a thug in order to find an ounce of credibility in his story' or damning statistic about girls getting raped by BLACK MEN before the age of 18?' Bloody hell!!!

You know the drill. Classic asshole Nigerian males. They think a woman getting older is a shameful thing. So if they aren't trying to shame you sexually they turn to age shaming. As if their own clocks are standing still.

I guess their middle aged/old moms are worthless then. If higher age is now something to use in mocking others. And you'd think there's some little sense somewhere in those heads. Nada zero.
My mom is post menopausal. I don't think that reduces her value as a human being. I can't understand the need to mock that in another person. Zero sense.

And they are trying to make it into people who jealous bla bla bla issue. Pfft. Jealous of what?

Because they aren't women and will never understand the hurt these women go through. The discrimination of being in a judgmental society like ours where being a woman is already an offense to begin with. How much more when you're one who's 'loose' enough to get pregnant outside wedlock. And they think we are the bad ones.

I know the posters on this thread. I'll be waiting for them next time they lift their itchy fingers to type something against single mothers.
Ujoan:
Did you notice how most of the people supporting him are men? And yet they claim 'all men are not the same' . . . . Obviously 100% of the guys on this thread will do exactly what OP's brother did . . . where does that leave the women . . single mothers of loose morals. undecided

But then I also blame the women involved . . they are the ones having children for loser who thinks they don't have to face their mistakes until when it's convenient enough to do so. . . . when contraceptives are everywhere.

Even some married men are not left out of it. Many men would gladly abandon their wives and children for their concubines. Nigerian men generally believe that when the children grow up, they will come searching for them, so they don't have to hang around to be a father. That's why you see a lot of single mothers and divorced women raising kids alone . . Did they conceive the kids on their own? undecided

The outrage from the men on this thread is honestly upsetting. See them acting like we are the evil ones here . . . . Shebi all of them have daughters or will do someday . . . I pray Chioma's fate befall their daughters . . . Amen. At least the man who is responsible will come back in about 20-something years to compensate them and their daughters, so all is not lost. cheesy
Family › Re: Help: Creche And Preschool In Lekki/ajah by cococandy(f):
If you're a good parent you will most likely raise a good child. By setting good examples and showing personal discipline, you can be a good example for your child to emulate.

I didn't see better kids at home than I do here. And I lived in Nigeria all my life. Children are not worse here. They are just bolder and more outspoken. I can say the ratio of bad to good is just the same as it would be anywhere else. With a good garnishing of the spoilt ones just like everywhere else.

In Nigeria we consider timid children to be good children. Just because they are scared, don't ask questions and can't challenge something they don't think is right doesn't make them better kids. It just makes them grow into adults who will take whatever is dished to them. Like we did and are still doing while the older population is taking all that belongs to us all for only themselves. And the circle continues.

I know I don't want a timid child.
GoldCircle:
Been following this thread. Interesting and nice contributions. But I just want to add that for some African parents, raising kids in an American environment (with a different moral standard) than ours is a tough one. For some of us, this is a major factor considering the fact that kids are very impressionable these days and have a greater sense of their society than we did in our days. I would rather pay for an American or British school in Nigeria (if I can afford it) until the child is 'matured' enough for further studies abroad and has firmly taken to his African roots.

The example of some kids I know have not been encouraging at all. A few parents have hinted at sending them home to live for a while with an Uncle or an Grandma before they enter college. For me, the most important factor is for my kids not to get lost in the crowd.

Those ones are ediots. That's their problem. If you hate someone why do want to live with them? And it's the most tribalistic of them that are more vehemently against the exodus of the igbos. The ones who don't have tribalism in their hearts are sometimes indifferent to it.

Like what do these ones really want?
Chibuhealth:
Yoruba and Hausa hate Igbos, okay.....! Allow Igbos to be on their own, they refused. Okay....! Allow Igbos to become the president of the country, they refused. My question now is, what is their problem? And what is your problem?

The ultimate encouragement runaway dads have is that they know when the time comes for them to face the consequences of ruining their kid/s' and the mom/s' lives, emotional blackmailers will spring up in their defense and make the victims or those who feel sorry for them look like the bad people.
Family › Re: Please Help Locate My Brother's SON. by cococandy(f): 9:46am On Aug 17, 2016
I wish all you do-gooders would be so compassionate like this when judging single mothers. undecided

But we all know that's not the case. Hypocrites.

Of course we are bitter. At least on this issue I know I am. So for those touting the word about, I don't consider it an insult. I'm bitter. What's not to be bitter about? Dead beat dads and their apologists everywhere. Children suffering for it and their moms being blamed for it. Then runaway dad appears when the child is grown and anyone who's not patting him on the back for showing up late to the party is the bitter bad person?. Heck yea. Queen yoyo bitters right here.

BTW The longer the time, the worse the offense. This is not about something he did 23 yrs ago but something he kept doing after finding out the result of his actions. If we are to say it's okay now because it happened 23yrs ago, that means a father who abandoned his child 40years ago is better than the one who left and came back 2yrs later huh? Yea it's not so bad since its been so long he abandoned the child. undecided

Spirit1:
Thank you

Either way the choice belongs to the young man.
Don't you agree that he should be given the opportunity to make this choice?
Who said he shouldn't? Did I?

Anyway if you guys can't understand the outrage at the young man's post let me explain it.

Rilokey I doubt anyone is jealous of his US location or whatever. The thing is people (and rightly so) are fed up with absentee fathers. No matter what their excuse may be. In some cases he may not even be guilty (I.e he never knew he had a kid until today) still he gets to suffer from some of the already built up angst generally directed at absentee fathers. Much less this one who has known about the existence of the child for 21years and only chose now to seek him out.

You expect people to jump up to help him without anyone pointing out that he's wronged this child? Isn't that the hope of many dead beat dads (not saying this one is). You often hear callous heartless comments like "when the child grows he will come looking for his father". Especially here on this forum. Maybe that was their belief but it didn't work out and then they decided to seek him out themselves. But that's just an assumption.

Either way, that many men can comfortably exist knowing that the child they brought into this world doesn't have a father in his life or is suffering with poor single mom is enough to make people angry. This isn't a simple case of lying or cheating or stealing and then have remorse later. No one is without sin including me but abandoning your child is way up there. Do you remember him once a year and say to yourself "well let the mom handle that." Or do you totally close that part of your mind that knows he exists? I can't live a day without knowing that my child is alright. Maybe that's just me.

Sorry if we disappointed you by not giving him a pat on the back and telling him everything will be alright. .

Even if he didn't totally deserve every condemnation he got on this thread, he (and you) should know that it's to be expected. We can't go around acting like it's okay for men to keep abandoning their kids. Many many are doing that. Leaving the ladies to suffer the consequences alone. Plus The derision and mockery from people (even on this forum) against single mothers as if they got themselves pregnant. The judgment people pass on them as if they are second-hand human beings just because of a natural consequence of having sex. "Can you marry a single mother" is often asked and then men who have had sex before will sit on their high and mighty thrones of judgment to state how they are too good for 'after one' women. No. It's not okay. You guys can't keep doing that and expect the whole world to smile at you when you decide to come enjoy the results of the mother's labor decades later.

I'm sorry if seeing a man who abandoned his kid upsets me. It's a normal feeling because I'm an advocate of fairness. No I'm not going kiss him on the forehead and say "now everything is alright."

He fvcked up and should be told that.

And no I don't have information about Chioma. Anyone who has should please help the OP.

My relative that I stay in his house in Lagos works in a bank on the island but lives on the mainland. Both him and his wife. I only see them late in the night just because I'm a late sleeper. The wife's brother who also stays there says he only sees them during the weekends.

Now they just had a baby. Like 2-3months old. I wonder what they'll do. God help them. Maybe one person will quit.

tearoses:
Coco Lagos is not for me either
We have properties in Lagos and Ibadan, but it is quicker to us get to Ibadan than meander our way to our place in Lagos due to traffic
So from the airport we always face Ibadan.
Some trips home we never even go to the Lagos House at all
Personally I dont like stress and car rides so going to Lagos gives me headache
I know some people who say they cant live anywhere else apart from Lagos so different strokes for different folks
Almost everyone I know has a horror story about Lagos traffic
and some people commute everyday
You hear stories of bankers who leave home at 4am and dont get back until 11pm only to do it the next day
Maybe becasue I am not in their shoes but I will certainly relocate and downsize if that were me
Quality for me is more important than quantity
