You can't just discountenance Song like that by saying he failed in his primary duties, you have to look at it in the context of the team he is playing and his individual performance.

In that same team that you said he failed in his primary duties a certain Van persie score 30 goals for Arsenal in a season and the team ended up in 4th place, did Vpersie perform his primary duties? He scored 24goal for us last season and we won the league, so what gives?

That's where I think the real issues are. We on paper don't look like we have a team that can conquer europe. If we come against the likes of Real, Barca, Bayern, revitalized Juv, stubborn Dortmund and the rest, we look like 2nd best until our players kinda surprise us on the field.

We don't seem to strike fear into our opponents in europe anymore, just the normal respect that this is UNITED and should not be taken for granted, and with a new manager new in d CL, that's another matter.

We just have to wait and see what Moyes and this team will display in Europe.

Its late because our primary target, Cesc failed to come and I think a club ought to prioritise before going into the market, we can't be making bids for the likes of strootman,Thiago, garay, Baines, fellaini etc when our major priorities had not come.

Yes, its unfortunate and disappointing we are in this situ, but I think UNITED shud just manage what we have and hope the likes of Nani and Young stay fit, Anderson steps up and Kagawa comes to the party, then we can challenge for trophies. Agreed it would be very tough in Europe. But we can bid 50m for a player now and it can still be rejected, what do u do then.

Don't compare CR7, MEssi with Rooney, those two players have been immensely consistent in there diff clubs. I can't say the same Rooney especially recently. When we had Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo where did Rooney play and why did he not score 30+ goals then when he was not given other duties.

remember we still have financial constraints on us, in the form of debts and accompanying interest. we aren't bayern (cash rich & debt free) or madrid (who can use political influence to get a tax write off or refund).

We are the ones that need to solve our midfield issue and IMO opinion I feel Fabregas can 90% solve that problem with Carrick, Anderson and cleverly. The 35m will pale into insignificance when we are celebrating lifting the EPL and UCL.

Are you saying that we can't bid for any Marquee again because of the financial constraints which I believe is neither here nor there. If that's the case why are we even bidding that amout for Fab, is that if we get Fab UNITED will not be able to go for Bale again who might also cost us a lot of money.
These have have a better understanding of the financial situation of the club and would be in the best position to take decisions. If Moyes wants a player and sure he discusses the financial implications of getting that player with some people at the club before they officially make a bid public.

coogar: RVP had posted a clean bill of health for 18 months before we bought him. he played 38 league games for arsenal in his last season there. he played 38 league games for us as well. RVP has managed to overcome his injury-prone career ever since he started rubbing horse's placenta on his legs.

I agree he has been fit for two consecutive seasons, but we cannot discountenance those days he gets injured mid season only to appear at the tail end of the season with clinical finishes that always makes Arsenal fans think they are gonna win something.

Let Fabregas come, we will bath him in Horse, Carmel and donkey placentas if need be.

I am with coogar in opposing this signing, if this costs anything north of 30m. I would rather get 2 reasonable central midfielders, one with high developmental upside, than pay a massive premium on a player who doesn't solve all our midfield problems.

How many players will alk straight into the Barcelona midfield amongst the ones u mentioned, apart from bastien who might have a chance. These are the same players he Fab has to compete with again in the National team with other up coming guys like Carzola, Mata etc.

Coogar even queried his fitness level, RVP that we bought is the one player that his fitness issues need to be appraised properly, yet we bought and I believe Fab has a better fitness record than VPersie until recently.

If we get Fab, Rooney can F%uck off to wherever. We don't always have to play according to what suits Rooney ESPECIALLY when he is gone.

The players you mentioned are good and I see u are looking at the future but they also don't solve our midfield problems. Like sailor said we should spend the money fi we are a big club as we claim for the right players.

Fabregas is worth every penny of the 35m. He has EPL and UCL experience and seems to be the right fit for our midfield problems.

It is hard to displace any of Busquets, xavi or iniesta in that Barca team and the nearest person he can replace is xavi who probably has another 3yrs to play at top level barring injuries. If Fab is ready to wait for that no probs, but even at that he got a reasonable amount of games with the false 9formation.

Am beginning to see why Man U is relentlessly chasing Fabregas cos he will fit into our midfield properly. Getting Fab will help ship out Rooney quickly. He has EPL experience and will do well in a Carrick-Fab-kagawa midfield with Vpersie as the top striker, if we get Bale on the right then it makes the team even more formidable.

Bale might upset the right wing with Valencia and Nani already there, although Nani can be played on the left but we know he is more potent on the right. That's if he is not sold.

A midfield of Cleverly-Anderson-Fab will also be good IMO.

The club is just trying to reduce that damage that might exist with the departure of Rooney and Bale and Fab are not bad additions. Man U will not sell rooney until after the 26aug cos I think we meet chelsea on that day.

What makes Rooney think he won't be first choice in a 442 formation alongside VPersie and they might be rotated in a 433 formation if he is desirous of playing only as a point man. Weather he likes it or not VPersie is a Man United player of immense pedigree that will always get a look in. FFS there are so many games to go around and rotating will keep them fresh, so Chicarito and Welbeck should not even get games assuming all 4 top strikers are fit thruout the season.

In a sport programme, can't really remember which one now. But it was also reported the he Thiago is really willing to play for UNITED and wishes that the clubs finalize a deal.

What is holding it up is what I don't really understand. Maybe Barca are the one stalling on d deal, but with the way UNITED has been going about other prospect, one can't say.

Thiago, strootman and Garay were seriously linked to us which even if we have signed just one of these guys would reduce the anxious expectations in our midfield.

Even Thiago that we heard had agreed personal terms with United still never land.

It would have been nice seeing all our prospects play in pre season games.
