What was the plan you had for her? Marriage plan or something else?
If it were marriage plans, then I would like that you take it off your mind with her.
It appears she's tired of the relationship with you for her to say she's ready to face whatever comes out of her confession simply means she is fed up and other guys hanging around with juicy packages will just say I told you. |

WoundedLamb: Bro, you are getting very emotional with all your responses here. This is a mere discussion and not a fight. Rubbish Ghana? Why would I rubbish Ghana? Where I leave, the white man doesn't care where you are from. So this is not a Ghana vs Nigeria thing (that's childish). If you had read a couple of posts down, you'd see where I gave a further explanation by comparing the purchasing power of both currencies. Besides, Nigerian economy is not the same as Ghanaian's. And that's merely because Nigeria is a much bigger country, far more populated and thus more economically vibrant due to the larger market. Isn't this glaring? Must we argue over everything on Nairaland?
Parameter wise, Ghanaian economy is growing and when expressed in terms of percentage of its former state, it's at a higher rate than Nigeria's (7.9% as against 6.6%) but it's not up to Nigeria's economy and it will take a miracle to get up to that given the size difference. But in terms of purchasing power parity, Naira is more than 40% higher. (This means 1Naira can purchase in Nigeria more than its Ghanaian Cedis equivalent can purchase in Ghana thus making Ghana a more expensive place). This is because Nigerian GDP (total worth of finished goods/services produced in the country) will always be higher because Nigeria has more industries.
In summary, Nigerian currency has higher basket worth (PPP) due to the high GDP. Nigeria's revenue is more than 100% higher than that of Ghana which means she can afford more amenities. Nigeria has more industries. Cost of living is lower in Nigeria. However, Nigeria has more number of poor people. Ghana's economy is growing at a slightly higher rate. Ghana has better wealth distribution scheme.
For discussion sake, you really need to understand the indices of the poverty report you're mentioning. Before Nigeria was termed the poverty capital, it was India. Now, does that mean the economy of Ghana was better than that of India too? Of course, not. It is a function of population (the same population that constitute the source of economic vibrancy). The number of poor people in Nigeria will always be higher. If it were expressed in percentage, it would have been South Sudan (with more than 95%). Ghana has done well by moving from more than 45% to much less while Nigeria remains above that. However, the huge norminal difference in terms of population means that it take elevating a fewer people above poverty line in Ghana to reduce the percentage than it takes in Nigeria. This explanation does not undermine the efforts of Ghana in the area of poverty reduction and most importantly, wealth distribution (where Nigeria is seriously lagging behind). Nigeria just has more money to spend. The US has more poor people than Canada, it doesn't mean the Canadian economy is better.
I'm probably not going to contribute any further to this chat cause I shy away from any emotionally charged threads but if you have any sincere question, I'd be willing to answer.
Good morning. This is succinct and well presented explanation. Sound more like an elderly man. |

sreamsense: I am not talking about your stack. I am only giving you general advice as an experienced programmer about what is obtianable in the present programming world if you really want to make it faster. You need to diversify and broaden your knowledge.
You can focus your attention on desktop and mobile at moment, but bear in mind being diversified will make you a better programmer. You don't need to go deep in electronic for embedded sake, but for the sake of iot and automation, you can't escape it
You can't totally run away from it unless you don't want to come out with better applications that can fetch you money on time. Your present aspiration is good, but just bear in mind that later or sooner, you need to cover those areas I mentioned Insightful, thank you for your contribution boss. |

If a lady does that she might mean harm to you. If she said she forgive you, let her be. Keep looking for another lady. |

Dicktion: Does that really matter? We are talking forgiveness and based on what we were taught in schools and churches it is OK to forgive. Or does one have to take a whole to profer forgiveness We want to know whether we can advice her to back out of the relationship with you or endure and enjoy it with you. Judging by your writeup, you said ' you said some bad things to her' and you are now seeking her forgiveness. Why didn't you guard your heart and mouth that you hurled those bad hurting words on her? Words are like eggs. If broken, it will be very difficult to amend. If she happens to be the one that hurled those hurting words on you, you will be saying some stuff about female folks. |

GeoAfrikana: @emnbodened. Do you know how this sentence sounds? Like: "I know Kotlin is killing Java in Android world but I just don't like to break the hearts of those who're stuck in the Java ecosystem" Smile, like I said in the comment I dropped on your comment. You need to entangle yourself to Java and kotlin for you to know why people seem to like kotlin over Java, two major reasons are : handling of boilerplate code and null pointer reference. Kotlin is not killing Java in any way. What i said in response to the other guy, is to point him to other gigs that has Java/kotlin in them and not kotlin only. |
Programming › Re: Java Has Finally Fallen by Coder2Client(m): 11:10am On Aug 08, 2020 |
GeoAfrikana: I just hope so. Last year I needed to install Java for a webmapping software (Geoserver) only to read that Java now sells licenses. I was shocked and disappointed. Since then I've been thinking of migrating to mapserver. Mapserver is an alternative to Geoserver and it's Python friendly.
Additionally, Google has declared Kotlin as the official language of Android. It used to be Kotlin and Java but now it's Kotlin only
You know Google owns Kotlin.
Lastly, people should forget this "Java can't die" mentality. I'm not saying Java is dying or it's dead but I'm saying it can die. Greater brands have existed before it only to become history.
Yesterday, I was speaking with a friend who's an Android developer, he's now forced to learn Kotlin. So, if you're an Android developer, please learn Kotlin if you want to remain relevant. Jetbrain owns kotlin. If you are to use jdk on your machine only and not for a company, oracle won't charge you for it, but openjdk has all what the normal jdk has About your friend, if the company he works for demands the change of language then that's not problem as kotlin is a sister to Java. Kotlin is even simple to use if you are coming from Java background. There is so much for you to learn about Android @bold, who told you that it's now kotlin only that's used in android studio? What Google said was, any update on Android will be kotlin first. Please, get your info right. It's still Java, Kotlin and c++. |

ToyinDipo: I get, I am not really into mobile development, I just noticed that most Android gigs I see require Kotlin knowledge Those are probably new projects and some companies have their codebase in Java, if they would employ a new Dev, it would be someone that has both knowledge of kotlin and Java for either maintenance or to move existing projects to kotlin. And thanks to you for saying most and not all. If you look closely to some gigs it will be Java /kotlin, right? Do you know c++ is the third language that android supports for native app up to date? |

ToyinDipo: There is open jdk, it doesn't require license, and the Oracle java is built atop it.
For Android development, Java will probably fade with time , because of less terse kotlin, except Java reinvents itself which to me is unnecessary.
However for enterprise development, Java will almost always remain number one, I don't really see it dying, I mean there are lots of heavy enterprise apps built with Java, and more still being built with it, because of the power of JVM, and the frameworks supporting it. @bold That can never happen except if Google drop android os for a new one. Not all native Dev like kotlin and kotlin is not perfect either . Complaints are already dropping in for some advance aspect of kotlin in android dev. Java for Android can not fade and will never fade away. Android does not fully support Java 8, and Java 15 is already coming with the same features that made people like kotlin which is NullPointer reference avoidance. Imagine if android supports Java 15 that's coming, with all the great features. Kotlin is here to help Java not that it will relegate it. I like kotlin and I work with it but Java for android is going nowhere. People are still working with it, myself inclusive. |

sreamsense: Your creativity and how you can apply your programming knowledge to solve current problems is what is needed most not the number of languages you know or learn. If you are learning Java, learn it in detail to cover desktop, mobile, web app and embedded systems . All the areas are interrelated, knowing all these areas will make you brim with useful idea to develop unique project that can magnetize raw cash into your bank account Thank you for your contribution. @bolded really funny. I would have loved to agree if you had said desktop (JavaFX) and mobile (android, which is my stack ) but including Enterprise and Embedded systems to it, make me think you must be James Gosling. |

Savagethe21st: boss sorry if im disturbing you. In this picture i know they added navigation bar to the tool bar. But how did they add tablayout of "chat" and call fragment to the toolbar to be with menu button and search button I believe that you know how to work around fragments very well, right? And you know where the menu is, in the res directory, right? And you know how to inflate the menu on the activity? Right? Now, you would have to override a method onCreateOptionMenu() to be able to inflate the menu to on the toolbar. You can set the views in here to onClickListener() and within this anonymous inner class you can refer to your fragment To be able to click on the menu to get response you will have to override another method onOptionItemSelected() in this method you will refer to the view id in the menu. Overall, it depends on design pattern of your app. If your app is a one activity and many fragments pattern then your toolbar will be hosted in a fragment. I didn't explain this concept to my satisfaction to you but I can't do it more than that for now. Keep learning... |
