This whole insecurity drama being staged needs to end if things will get better in Agriculture and the north. Things like this will discourage some farmers and increase the cost of production for those who remain in business as ransom and levies will have to be paid and then transfered unto the final consumers. |

grandstar: For FDI to really boom in your country, (if its not in areas of supermarkets etc) is that it should be tailored towards exports. In Nigeria, government instead focuses is self sufficiency which really is the very opposite. FD investors are not swayed by import bans. None flooded Nigeria when cement importation was banned. FDI tends to go to areas you have comparative advantage. They need a competitive base to produce for exports. Export isn't opposite of self sufficiency but complementary to it when sufficiency is attained. One has to be fulfilled before the other becomes desirable. It could be a case of comparative advantage in an area of production due to available raw materials and cheap production inputs. Take cocoa/chocolate or tigernut for example, Nigeria has them in good quantity and competitive prices yet don't consume so much in these area, a company dealing in their finished product can then consider Nigeria due to this comparative advantage and start local production with a focus on export in view. One factor against us in this is poor power supply and its high cost. Imagine if power supply and security was good, cheap labour and raw naterials is there. Any company looking to take global lead in these are can then relocate here and start production with export of finished products in view. |

Emefiele who is cooperating with the DSS claimed that Bawa was the one who raised a memo to former President Muhammadu Buhari, asking that the Naira should be redesigned to stem money laundering during the 2023 election,” a top source revealed.
“Bawa confronted him that he (Emefiele) and the former Attorney-General of the Federation, Malami were the ones that came to him to raise the memo because they suspected Tinubu had warehouses stuffed with naira notes,” the source added. If I say aboki and incompetence, they may say slur and ban me. The Bawa of a guy is not serious at all. If Malami and Emefiele had come to him that Hushpuppi has notes stashed somewhere, will Naira redesign have been his suggestion? Next time, you don't burn down a house to catch a rat. |

Nothing is enough to ensure confidence from foreign investors, except knowing that they can easily cash out their gains. Please I want to be enlightened about how Emefiele's policies trapped their money in Nigeria. |

Svoboda: How many raw materials importers got dollars at the official rate? MAN has been crying its voice hoarse at this inability. The solution would have been to address the forex roundtrip practice and not just collapsing rates. Collapsing rates itself isn't that bad but I think the luxurious goods should be heavily taxed when coming in to discourage patronizers of luxurious foreign goods. Tobacco, wines, hair extension, toothpick and brushes, iPhone, bleaching cream, perfume etc should attract a demand crippling tax in addition to single exchange rates being effected. This will drive demand of forex down as prices of these luxurious foreign goods discourage local demand naturally leaving industries and producers to go for forex. |
