AZeD1: Same way a smaller plant can be made bigger.
You've still not answered the question how a bigger plant translates to cheaper prices for the consumer. I like to believe I have been nice to give you a 335CCGT plant and a 414 SCT plant to help in your explanation.
There are non technical peeps reading this thread and a sound explanation would help. Stop googling stuff beyond your brain and tell me. how a smaller plant can be made bigger. |

AZeD1: You should study CCGT and know what it is. I have given you two examples of power plants that are greater than 100MW and they are single cycle turbines.
So back to the original point, please explain to "illiterates" how a bigger power plant translates to cheaper power. I have given you 3 power plants you can use as an example. If you know what you are talking about, that shouldn't be hard to do? A bigger plant can be adapted for CCGT. read it up and stop arguing blindly. CCGT mostly involves integration of steam turbines to be driven by enormous heat given off by gas plant. how will the steam run if enough heat isn't given off? Think and research a little b4 replying. |

weyreypey: Again, the Fulanis (Muslims) were painted as killers while Benue militias (Christians) who rustle Fulani cattles and slaughter their wives and children were not featured. This is grossly unfair. Falz should find a way of balancing his video. The kidnappers of the South East (also Christians) were spared while the oil saboteurs of the Niger Delta (Christians too) were ignored. Falz video is loaded with Islamophobia. That video should be titled ‘This is not Nigeria’. It is Islam-bashing. Nigeria’s video regulatory agency should therefore ban the video or ask the artist to edit it properly.
Like seriously? This guy is far more insane than I imagined Stop convulsing ignorantly. The ND guys had a good cause to fight for. The SE kidnappers are being dealt with serious (don wanny, godogodo, the Delta missionary killers are examples). The Fulani's are being defended and ignored by same people dealing with those I mentioned. With ranches it will be easier to monitor the herdsmen against rustlers and for tax or even record keeping purpose. Falz couldn't have highlighted every crime but the most telling ones. He left Imams alone and attacked pastors twice in the video but you guys didn't see those. |

AZeD1: Still obsessed with CCGT. AES is a 270MW single cycle power station in Lagos. Just because a plant is bigger than 100MW doesn't mean it's CCGT.
Yes Northerners might pay more because transmission and distribution costs have been added, but we are talking about Lagos State and the tariff is same all over the state.
So explain how a bigger plant means cheaper price for the consumer. You can use AES as your station. Its 270MW.
Geregu is 414 MW single cycle plant wjhile Papalanto is 335CCGT plant. Which is better? Remember your earlier statement about larger plants being cheaper for consumers. Just study the damn CCGT and stop saying ignorant stuff. CCGT is only possible when there is enough heat given off so the plants need to be considerably bigger to support CCGT. Study it properly and stop arguing blindly. |
Politics › Re: Lagos To Begin Embedded Power Project In July 2018 by CodeTemplar: 9:14am On Jun 11, 2018 |
AZeD1: Why build a 5MW plant with gas when you can build using renewables like Solar or Wind? I guess you are obsessed with CCGT but it's not the only way to to build efficient power plants. The largest power plants in world are Hydro and not Gas fired.
Back to your point. You said. "Solution will be to build a large scaled power plant with good scale of economy to drive down price of the power that will be eventually sold to industries".
You are insinuating the larger the plant, the cheaper the price which is False 1) Pricing is set by NERC. 2) CCGT is about efficiency. Those who build with CCGT would have a more efficient plant but the consumer wouldn't know it because the price they'll pay is not determined by the efficiency of a power plant. Those who build with CCGT would make more money because their plants are efficient, it won't make it cheaper for the consumer. A taxi driver who uses a Honda would make more than the guy using an Audi because the Honda is fuel efficient and cheaper to maintain but the customer would still pay the same price for entering either of them.
http://www.nercng.org/index.php/home/myto/406-generation-tariff
Read up about how tariffs are calculated.
Pay attention to It is pertinent to note that feed-in tariffs have been developed for investors wishing to invest in generation capacity that utilises other sources of energy including solar, wind, biomass, and small hydro.
Lastly Lagos State is not building any plants, it's all private. If you argue that pricing is set by NERC, why is the rate different for various regions then? Why do Northerners pay more for electricity than the south? The cost of generation varies Mr man. If u know sh.it about power systems you will know that even in a single power station there are plant with varying efficiency. Use your brain pro actively and stop sampling irrelevant data as argument. You can't expect a 50MW gas plant to generate power with same cost as another 200mw plant with CCGT. Just read and understand CCGT and 90% of your ignorance should be gone. |

Crime › I Killed My Friend, Took His Heart For Money-making Ritual, Man Confesses by CodeTemplar(op): 8:52am On Jun 11, 2018 |
I killed my friend, took his heart for money-making ritual, man confessesBy Odita Sunday 11 June 2018 | 4:24 am Daniel The Lagos State police command has arrested four persons for alleged murder of their friend for moneymaking rituals. The suspects are presently being interrogated at the homicide section of the State Criminal and Intelligence Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba. One of the suspects, simply identified as Daniel, confessed that: “We are from Chibok in Maiduguri, Borno State. We are four that killed our friend, Isaiah James, for ritual purposes, though it was not our initial plan to do so. We wanted to do charms to excel in advance fee fraud, known as 419, but the native doctor who we consulted told us that he won’t do charms for us with regards 419. “We asked why and he told us that we are not educated. He told us that we should be literate before we can do 419 successfully. We asked if there was another alternative and he said he would perform a ritual out of sympathy for us. He told us to provide a human heart. That was the beginning of our problems. “When the herbalist told us to bring a human heart, we told him to help us organise it. He promised to do so and charged us N100,000. We paid him N60,000 and promised to balance the N40,000. Few days later, the native doctor called us to say that one of his boys who he sent on the mission for the human heart hunting was shot in the hand by vigilance group members. He said he won’t be able to provide us with the heart and asked us to provide it ourselves,” he narrated. According to Daniel, they became confused on their next plan of action until the gang leader identified as Audu, suggested that he would lure his cousin, who is also a friend to Daniel to where they would kill him and pluck out his heart for the ritual. Continuing, he said: “We called him on phone and told him to meet us at a drinking joint in Ajah, Lagos. He agreed to meet us. He did not suspect foul play and was comfortable with us. We met at night and we started drinking local gin until the wee hours. “We bought him fried yam. At about 1:00a.m. we said we should go home. As we were walking home, Audu who was armed with a knife, said he was going to urinate. So all of us including our target joined Audu to a corner to urinate. It was at that corner that we all rushed at him, pulled him down and hit him with hard objects and Audu stabbed him. “When we noticed that he was dying, Ayuba butchered him, searched inside, but he could not find the heart. I collected the knife from him and put my hand inside, I found the heart. His heart was still alive and pumping blood, I pulled it out with the help of the knife. “We took it to the native doctor at Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. He used it to prepare beans for us. He promised that after eating the beans porridge, we would start making big money. He said that anything we laid our hands must prosper. He requested for the N40,000 balance which we paid him. We had just finished the meal when the police came to pick me. “A lady who saw us the night we killed Isaiah, told his people that she saw us in company of Isaiah. We are all from Chibok in Maiduguri. When the police came to me, I confessed. I did not feel anything killing him, human being is the same thing as animals. My regret is that we did not succeed in making the money and that the native doctor escaped arrest,” he added. https://m.guardian.ng/news/i-killed-my-friend-took-his-heart-for-money-making-ritual-man-confesses/ |

rusher14: I know your type.
You are born to wail and complain.
Most societies engage social intervention programs whether it be by way of food stamps, benefits in housing or stipends.
Even in UK, public schools still feed their wards not to talk of a backwater Nigeria.
Free school meals
Free school meals are provided for children whose parents receive certain benefits (or who are on those benefits themselves):
Income Support Income-based Jobseekers Allowance Income-related Employment and Support Allowance Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit Child Tax Credit (provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190) Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after a person stops qualifying for Working Tax Credit Universal Credit - with household income of less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits) from 1 April 2018, with transitional protections for existing claimants
Free school meals may also be available to pre-school children and those in school sixth forms. Local authorities are responsible for providing free school lunches and applications must be made through the relevant local body.
http://researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/SN04195 Government has lessened the burden of feeding on parents and it is laudable.
The past governments never thought it necessary. You obviously misunderstood me, most advanced nation doing this have strong population growth control mechanism. We just produce and expect govt to take over. |

Netanyahu1: Speak for yourself. You may not know anything about Christ except what Oyedepo told you . For everything I need to know is in the bible and I read. As for his " fool people" scholarship , you can't use peoole's contribution to establish a private business.
Business had been in existence since before christ, and I don't remember Christ or his followers taking contribution from poor people to establish a carpentry shop.
Sorry for hurting the ego of your pastor.
He should thank his stars for a country like Nigeria where laws are not policed , if not he will be in jail long before anybody in his 20s knows the word prosperity gospel. I can see clearly you are filled with rage. Do pastors force money out of the poor or do they disguise the purpose of the funds when collecting them? The answer is largely no. On the other hand govt does force you to pay tax and not every poor man paying tax can afford the govt schools. Now the logic follows the same pattern for private church owned schools. What they do to bridge this gap is to offer scholarship to the best of the lot, and this list of best includes the poor. after exhausting their limited scholarship resources or slots, they open the floor for the best of the rest who can afford the fee. Now it doesn't end there, the fee paid by both the scholarship students and the self sponsored ones is a function of the standard of facilities or service enjoyed there. If the school authority and church can pay that fee for the scholarship enjoying students then it makes sense for the self sponsored students to pay same amount. I know this is the arrangement for Oyedepo''s winners and the Universities. It is a perfectly balanced arrangement if one considers the goal of establishment of the universities themselves. This goal is to imbibe Christian values in graduates. If any one thinks University generates profit from fees directly let him or she commission a feasibility study and go establish one. Some govt schools like UniLag and UI subsidize the average graduates there by as high 500,000 per year per student. research it. they still have a poor system. |

AZeD1: 1) 100MW is not a large power plant. 2) I did not quote you out of context, I put up what you wrote and you said a large plant would bring the price down. 3) Size doesn't matter when it comes to prices. I have told you this so many times. Mr A builds a 750MW CCGT and Mrs B builds a 150MW CCGT plant. Mr A has no advantage over Mrs B even though his plant is 5 times bigger than Mrs B. 4) Price of power is set by NERC so as far as Mr A and Mrs B are in Lagos, they'll sell their power for the same price. Can a 5MW CCGT be build. cost effectively? |
