30 billion dollars was saved to prevent the DEVALUATION OF NAIRA.

It was kept so that if oil price became low, it will be used to stabilize the Naira.
That was why for over 16 years of PDP rule, the dollar never rose above N200 before Buhari came to power and the 30 billion dollars disappeared mysteriously in his first 4 years with nothing to show for it.

After he won re election, he went on a borrowing spree with which he built the unnecessary Kaduna to Niger republic railway.
Why wouldn't the Niara be devalued.
The funny part is that Buhari's kinsmen the Fulani knew all along what was coming and hoarded the dollars Buhari dashed them but was scarce to other Nigerians, just to help his over 200 million Fulani brother's all over Africa.

Why did Buhari ban the importation of rice from the Lagos ports but allowed it to come through the border in Kano, Sokoto, Katsina and other Northern states?
He did it to favour his Fulani brothers who grow rice in African countries like Sierra Leone etc who subsequently increased the price of rice artificially to make a kill.

Yes naira never went up to N200 during GEJ times..and u should thank a relatively high and less fluctuating crude oil price and the stable forex inflows..all that changed in 2014 ..this disrupted forex inflows and the CBN had to devalue the naira to bring in more forex...

Look all of this will make sense if u use 30 min of ur time to study what causes a currency to devalue... There is no where in economics that states DAT borrowing money or dash it out in local or foreign currency devalues a country's local currency...

GEJ introduced tetfund...well I can't confirm that yet...

Buhari introduced energizing education by Rural electrification agency REA...which provides 24/7 power through clean energy (solar) to all the federal universities and teaching hospitals...
My institution alone benefited with 8MW of solar hybrid power plants with 13km of street lights..
There are no such thing as power failure or cuts anymore..

Other schools that I know of who benefited this Include

AE-FUNAI
FUPRE
ABU
ATBU
BUK
UNILAG (In progress)
Through an initiative by the ministry of works..
2km of roads network were fully repaired in my school..something that has been a death trap since OBJ..
UNN, FUTO are some of the institutions I can remember now DAT benefited as well..
And the initiative covers all the universities

My institution saw 8 blocks of new hostels..
6 fully completed...
Previously we only had 4 which have been existing since the 90s..

That will help bridge infrastructure gap and provide more equipment for the older schools...and ASUU won't quote such huge amount for revitalisation and there would be less universities staff to be owned...

The only safe spot for Nigeria to remove this subsidies is to wait for dangote refinery to fully come on line and enter agreement with him maybe to sell crude at a discount, save forex , reduce the dollar rate to N360..

After all this they can now remove the damn thing...

It was profitable then..as soon as it began to rise..subsidies came back in order to maintain the price of petrol.....

There is nothing like subsidy removal..what NNPC is simply saying is that...it the cost of subsidies has surpass it revenue..hence they couldn't remit 1 kobo to the federation account.. Meaning that if they have to continue this way...they will need to get money for external sources... In this case..they wanna tap from States through their allocations...

The final solution is to end subsidies and allow gasoline sell for N400 or more
