Exactly, this is not a place for advice or a place to take decision..

My brother. That was how they discouraged my friend's driver from travelling to Qatar. Did you know that because of Nairaland I even thought Qatar was that bad.

The guy eventually left for Qatar about 3 months ago and according to him, that's the best decision he's ever made in recent years.

About 9 days ago, his girlfriend travelled to Qatar also. And the same person hosted 2 of my friends on their way to China by this time last week.

Make we dey talk only wetin we know, that's my point.

I know an elderly man who has been in Kuwait since the early 2000's, he took his wife about 14 years ago to come and be with him there in Kuwait and they're doing fine.

The problem about 5 years ago was that he brought his son over but the boy decided to join the Ganja Gangs, and he was deported only just after 3 weeks.

Money dey Kuwait, just get the right papers or information.

how much did you pay from Abuja to itakpe ? Also what time did you move from Abuja to itakpe and how long did it take to arrive there.

I left my home at about 10am and I got to Itakpe at about 2:15pm. Luckily, on the said day the train came in over 2 hours late. Departure time was supposed to be 2pm.

Cost of the trip is 5k any stop. Trip usually last about 5 hours from Itakpe to Warri.

If you join the train mid-trip you may never get a seat to sit on. I reported to the NRC but no reply, maybe they collect returns of some kind.
Travel / Re: Share Your Train Ride Experience In Nigeria by colbycell: 2:48pm On Sep 27, 2023
I completed a to and fro Abuja (Itakpe) - Abraka over the weekend. It's a N5,000 round trip to whatever destination.

Funny enough, some passengers were dropped off at Ajaokuta, Agbor and some other closer stations and they still paid 5k.

Sadly, the trip arrived over 2 hours late as departure time was supposed to be 2pm from Itakpe to Warri.

We eventually left at exactly 4:26pm for what would end becoming one of my most remarkable travels.

I was in the same cabin/coach with Mrs. Veronica Akpofure, (Neo Akpofure's) mother and together we gave the other passengers what looked like "NIGHT OF A THOUSAND LAUGHS."

It was a 5 hour trip to Abraka because I was heading to OZ, there was no need to travel with the train to Ujevwu.

On our return leg, we left Abraka at exactly 9:05am and by 1pm we were already at the Ajaokuta Station.

We got to Itakpe just before 1:30pm or there about.

Overall, the trip was fun, although the staff you could call very bad eggs. They can sell seat numbers to 6 different persons and inside the ride you'll get caught up in unnecessary arguments that shouldn't have been in the first place.

From my observation, an average staff would earn over 30 - 70k per trip from either of their primary station (I mean Ujevwu & Itakpe respectively).

While the security personnels on board are friendly, they are a part of this decay because you see them selling seats illegally.

The toilets are mostly unkempt, and there are not enough vendors aboard the train.

The worse of all is the oversabi staff that would always tell you not to film the tracks or even the station grin

P.S. Make sure you go with some kind of Identity Card...you go need am.

Dear Op, my people have an adage it is: Aiki lo kabo ile ejo , ka tun sore. It means we don't come back from court to become friends. Arresting your husband may be right or wrong but what happens when he is released?
If you were arrested as a wife, will you be happy with your husband and let everything go back to normal when you are released?
Especially in this part of the world.

If you still want a happy marriage after a dispute, police station should not be an option. In the sight of the law, you are right but culturally you are not.

Get elders to speak to him, I hope he listens. May God help you. This matter deep i can't think straight self cheesy

You have spoken well, and like an elder. You see, in the last 2 years, August precisely my life, business and all is been upsidedown.

I live in Abuja, my home was demolished, and also this June my work station was demolished. So you can understand that the frustrations in my life are astronomical.

No marriage is perfect, especially when the primary source of financial flow drops or stops permanently.

I have a wife, and I have 2 kids with my wife and 2 other beautiful daughters outside my marriage. Yes! I am putting this out so that the OP knows that she's overdone this.

Any day I go to my new office space I spend roughly N3,500 and I may end up not getting any return for that day. Before now, every other month I make roughly 350k or more.

Because of this drop in funds, I get some silly behaviors from the wife, it is only normal for women to want to overdo things especially when they have friends, and maybe their husbands are doing fairly well.

There are issues here and there, but I try to never let it result into deep quarrels or me hitting my wife. May God never allow me do this.

You husband is totally wrong for hitting you, and there are no justification for even damaging your things. But let me tell you ooh! Some of these people that are advising you don't mean well.

Anybody wen arrest me na there our friendship end, this is why I have never thought about arresting anybody. If it turns out that my wife would be the one to arrest me Hmmm! That Marriage is Over and I mean it.

Forgive and avoid, simple. Where una elders or neighbors dey wen you go bring police? Na power play be that na! Like you planned it out.

But then you know your husband, try to get family and friends to beg him, and I pray he forgives.

Money and Job will come...na small time remain.

Nb...I stayed for 1 month

Well, you are right and wrong. Akwa-Ibom is not a hub for business activity unless you're into building materials.

Akwa-Ibomists don't like to eat outside, majority are perfectionist when it comes to cooking. So instead of to eat outside, they would rather cook their food at home by themselves.

An average Akwa-Ibom man never thinks having fun is cool, they barely spend money seeing new places, this is why you had that experience at the Tropicana - the same thing that happened to Tinapa in Calabar.

Our people hate fun, and when there are no visitors to the Tropicana funds for maintenance becomes a problem.

Good thing is that you said you are from Akwa-Ibom, let's start now and give our people something new.

In Real Estate there is a secret terminology we use - "Infrastructure before Structure." Akwa-Ibom is opening up, and with time our basic naivety would become something of the past, I just hope you can be a part of the new change that will be coming in.

Travel / EU Digital Nomad Visa: Everything You Need To Know About Working In Europe. by colbycell: 7:40pm On Mar 22, 2023
Across Europe, countries are capitalizing on remote work by offering digital nomad visas.

Since the pandemic, many of us have enjoyed the freedom to work from anywhere.

Recognizing the potential to boost their flagging tourism industries, countries from Croatia to Spain are making it easier to gain temporary residency while working for a foreign company.

Not only does this help fill the low-season gaps in tourism-reliant destinations, it offers non-EU citizens the peace of mind and the chance to legally work remotely.

Digital nomad visas help host countries combat other problems, too, from brain drain to ageing populations.

If you’re looking to move to Europe, work remotely, and gain the right to travel in the Schengen Area, a digital nomad visa could be just the ticket.

Here’s a comparison of the remote work visas currently – or soon to be – available in Europe, including length of stay, application fees and income requirements.

Some have been specifically designed for remote workers while others are previously existing visas that have been adapted to people who want to work while travelling.

What Digital Nomad Visas are Available in Europe?

Croatia: For sunshine undamped by tax woes.

Visa length: One year, with possibility to renew

Application fee: Around €60

Income requirement: Around €2,300/month

Croatia launched its one-year residence permit for digital nomads in 2021. The scheme is open to non-EU/EEA citizens working in ‘communication technology’ – either through their own company registered abroad or as a remote employee for a company outside Croatia.

Provided they don’t require a tourist visa to enter Croatia, remote workers can apply for a one-year residence permit after arrival. Close family members can also apply for temporary residence.

Remote workers are currently not subject to income tax in Croatia.

Cyprus: For Mediterranean Beaches and Ancient History

Visa length: One year, with possibility to renew for two years

Application fee: €70

Income requirement: €3,500/month

Open to non-EU nationals, Cyprus‘s remote work visa launched in 2021 with a cap of 100 nomads. In 2022, the government increased this ceiling to 500 visas.

To be eligible, you must work for an employer registered outside Cyprus.

Digital nomads are permitted to bring their families with them, though these people are not permitted to work in Cyprus.

Czech Republic: For Affordable Living and Fairytale Castles

Visa length: Up to one year

Application fee: €200

Income requirement: Must have €5,000 in your bank account

Remote workers can apply for a long-term business or freelance license in the Czech Republic. Colloquially known as the ‘zivno’ visa (short for Zivnostenske opravneni or trade authorisation), it is intended for non-EU citizens who freelance or run their own business.

It requires ties with a company in the Czech Republic, so can be used by those intending to gain local freelance work such as teaching.

Estonia: For Digital-forward Infrastructure on a Budget

Visa length: One year, with possibility to extend by six months

Application fee: €100

Income requirement: €3,500/month

Estonia launched its digital nomad visa in summer 2020. It lets people working remotely for companies abroad – or freelancers with clients mostly abroad – stay in Estonia for up to one year at a time. You can apply for an additional six-month visa after your initial one expires.

Applicants must have earned at least €3,500 net per month in the six months preceding their application.

If you remain in Estonia for more than half a year, you will gain tax residency and be subject to local taxes.

The country also offers ‘e-residency’, which grants remote entrepreneurs digital access to Estonia’s e-services without providing residency. This can be used to run a company online, access banking, and declare taxes in Estonia without actually living there.

Finland: For Untouched Nature in the World’s Happiest Country

Visa length: Six months

Application fee: €400

Income requirement: €1,220/month

Finland’s self-employment visa is open to non-EU entrepreneurs who are self-employed or run an independent business. Applicants must meet the minimum income requirement and prove they have means.

Greece: For Island-hopping and year-round Sun

Visa length: One year, with possibility to extend with a residence permit

Application fee: €75

Income requirement: €3,500/month

Last year, Greece launched a scheme to allow non-EU citizens to live and work remotely in the country. To be approved, you’ll need to show you have sufficient resources of a monthly income of at least €3,500.

Digital nomads are not permitted to work or freelance for Greek companies under the scheme.

Hungary: For Thermal Baths and Low-cost Living

Visa length: One year, with possibility to extend

Application fee: €110

Income requirement: €2,000/month

Hungary‘s ‘White Card’ visa is open to non-EU digital nomads employed remotely outside the country. You must stay in the country for at least 90 days in a 180-day period, and will be exempt from paying tax in Hungary for the first six months.

You are not permitted to work for a Hungarian company under this scheme.

Iceland: For Outdoor Explorers on High Incomes

Visa length: Six months

Application fee: €86

Income requirement: €7,075/month

Iceland’s remote work long-term visa is aimed at high-income individuals earning over €7,000 per month, either as employees of a foreign company or as freelancers. The visa lasts for six months and applicants will not be considered tax residents during this time.

You are not permitted to work for Icelandic employers under this visa.

Italy: For Laid-back Living and Spectacular Scenery

Visa length: One year, with possibility to renew

Application fee: TBC

Income requirement: TBC

A new visa for digital nomads was signed into Italian law in March 2022. However, details are yet to be finalised.

It is thought to be aimed at highly-skilled workers. Applicants will likely need to fulfil a range of requirements, including having health insurance and a clean criminal record. They must also be tax compliant in Italy before applying.

Portugal: For Rugged Coastlines and Wine-tasting Weekends

Visa length: One year

Application fee: TBC

Income requirement: €2,800/month

On 30 October 2022, Portugal launched its digital nomad visa, officially called the ‘residence visa for the exercise of professional activity provided remotely outside the national territory’.

It is open to non-EU citizens who are employed or self-employed by a company outside of Portugal.

The scheme is an alternative to the existing ‘D7’ visa, which is aimed at retirees and ‘passive income’ earners.

Romania: For Long Hikes and Pocket-friendly Stays

Visa length: One year

Income requirement: €3,950/month (three times Romania’s average gross salary)

Romania’s digital nomad visa is aimed at non-EU citizens. Applicants must have health insurance, a clean criminal record and proof of income over €3,300 per month from a company outside of Romania.

If you have tax residence in another country, you are not required to pay tax in Romania under the scheme.

Spain: For Beach Escapes and Tax Breaks

Visa length: One year, with possibility to renew for up to five years

Application fee: Varies by country, usually around €80

Income requirement: Currently €2,334/month

Spain’s long-awaited digital nomad visa came into force in February 2023. The scheme grants non-EU citizens the chance to live and work there for up to five years.

It is open to people who work remotely for non-Spanish companies, including both self-employed freelancers with multiple clients and workers employed by a single company.
