Nothing is 100 percent certain in politics, but you have to try. If Buhari is reelected, in 2023, the Igbo would have a bargaining chip that cannot be easily swept off the carpet, in that Igbo would be the only group that has not produced president in 4th Reublic.


Yoruba have produced; Niger Delta have produced; the North would have completed Yar Ardua’s truncated tenure. It would then be difficult not to give it to the Igbo in 2023.

If we don’t play our cards right, by 2040, we may still be talking about Igbo Presidency, without much bargaining chips.

Let Ohaneze, the Youths etc, begin to put our house in order, while voting for Buhari in 2019.

Contrary to insinuations that Wizkid's latest hit,Manya was taken down from Youtube for other reasons, it has been revealed that, the video was taken off his Vevo and Starboy accounts due to his contract with Sony.
The contract allegedly places a limitation on the amount of local content he can release.
This might explain why he didn't release the video for Medicine featuring Flavour and Phyno,despite gushing over the video two months ago.
According to reports, the song, Manya is originally owned by producer,Mut4y of Legendury Beatz.It has now been removed from Wizkid's account where it had amassed over 1.5 million views in a week. However, the video is still on Mut4y’s YouTube account where it has been viewed aover 80,000 times.

This ongoing Slavery and Human Trafficking of youths (men and women) going on for a while now in Libya has to stop. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. It is dis heartening seeing black people being sold by Africans in Africa all in a bid to get to Europe dangerously by dessert and sea.
Europe is full and have their own problems at the boarders too.
We need boots on ground sounding the alarm that it is dangerous. Those trying to escape are poor and have no TV or access to what is out there.
Also we need to remand the people in Africa deceiving the migrants and collecting their money with promises of Europe in the first place.
Intensive work needs to be done by the Nigerian government and the governments in West/ east / north Africa to get the migrants out of Libya and more importantly tighter security at the african boarders to prevent the migrants trying to escape to Europe illegally.

ABUJA – The Federal Government says it has not been able to pay the statutory 5% to the Ikoyi whistle blower due to controversy surrounding the claim.


The minister of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed made this known on Tuesday during his visit to Leadership Newspaper.
He said the issue is a bit complicated because two persons are currently laying claims to the amount and since the identity of the real owner cannot be disclosed, it behooves on the government to follow due process in arriving at the true owner of the money.


‘‘It is a bit complicated because more than one person is claiming the money and we do not want to disclose the identity of the Whistle blower.
‘‘We have a very unique situation in our hand at the moment; it is so complex and complicated. One said we should not pay the other and the other one has gone to court.
‘Now we have the authentic whistle blower and fake whistle blower, we hope to find out the real person. Ordinarily, a whistle blower should be anonymous. However, we are working very closely to ensure that such thing never happens again.’’

On IPOB, he said he was certain the matter would be resolved at the end of the day, giving that the country has a leader who is capable of tackling the challenge.
‘‘There was propaganda around IPOB. I was very certain then that the unity of this country is not in doubt. We have seen governments in this country, had leaders who have gone through wars and know what the implications are. We have at the helm of affairs, a leadership that is capable of tackling the challenge.
‘‘Though, there was a lot of propaganda, but I knew that at the end of the day, the matter would be resolved.’’


Housing

On housing, the minister said the administration had spent N70 billion on land acquisition and construction of housing estates across the country in the last two years. This he said is far more than N1.8 billion spent by the last administration in five years.


Recovered loots

Speaking on how much recovered from looters, the Minister said the Administration had recovered about N8 billion, $53 million from Whistle blowers and in addition recovered 54 houses and N78 billion from an individual.
Visit
On the visit, he said the visit was to thank the leadership of newspaper for its support and to seek more support in the three cardinal objectives of the government: Fighting corruption, insecurity and revamping the economy.

On Free Press, he said the Administration would do everything to ensure that the press operates without any form of intimidation from government. He also promised to assist the media industry with some funding as soon as the economy improves.

‘‘We have put Boko Haram on the run. Occasionally, they attack soft targets, but even that is being tackled with intelligence-driven measures. We are tackling insecurity comprehensively, whether it is Farmer/Herders clash, Cattle rustling or kidnapping. ABUJA—The National Judicial Council, NJC, yesterday, denied allegation that the South East region of the country was sidelined in an ongoing process that will lead to elevation of 14 Judges to the Court of Appeal bench.

The Council, in a statement by its Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, said it considered merit and geographical spread in the appointment of Judicial Officers to the Court of Appeal. It maintained that in considering appointment for 14 vacancies currently existing in the appellate court bench and to ensure that each zone is adequately represented, states that already have three serving Justices were excluded.

NJC said its attention was drawn to an on-line publication and in some newspapers alleging that none of the candidates it shortlisted for appointment to the Court of Appeal was from the South-East. “This allegation is nothing but a figment of the imagination of the on-line media as the exercise is on-going and no candidate has been recommended so far. “To put the records straight, appointment of Judicial Officers to the Court of Appeal is done on merit and geographical spread. “Section 2 of Court of Appeal (Amendment) Act, 2013, governing the appointment of Justices of Court of Appeal provides that the total number of Justices to be appointed should not be more than 90 plus the President.

The Court however, currently has 76 Justices leaving vacancy for additional 14 Justices. Of the 76 Justices of the Court, the North Central with 6 States and FCT has 12 Justices; North-East with six states has 12 Justices plus the President; North-West with seven states has 9 Justices; South-East with five states has 13 Justices; South-South with six states has 14 Justices and South-West with six states has 15 Justices. “In considering appointment for the 14 vacancies, and to ensure that each zone is adequately presented, all states that have 3 serving Justices were not considered unless under special circumstances.

“The states not considered are: Anambra, Bauchi, Borno, Cross-River, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Gombe, Imo, Kogi, Kwara and Oyo. “States like Adamawa, Kebbi and Sokoto have zero representation which informed the need to include them in the current exercise. “Appointments are made to the Court based on the elevation of Appeal Court Justices to the Supreme Court, retirement at the age of 70 years, or death. Such vacancies are filled with judicial officers from the zone of the Judge who died, retired or elevated. “It is therefore unfair for the online media to claim that the National Judicial Council recommended no candidate from the South-East which currently has 13 Justices at the Court of Appeal. “Journalists are pleased advised to always balance their report to avoid litigation,” the statement read.

It appears like the reports of vaccination of school children against monkeypox virus in the eastern part of the country - have done more harm than good in the nation following pandemonium in Maiduguri, Borno state capital. According to multiple reports, school activities were cut short earlier today after reports filtered into town that students were being injected with vaccines by a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

Parents immediately stormed the schools and withdrew their children as panic spread from one school to the other.

According to reports, the parents are refusing their children/wards to be vaccinated by anyone over fear of the dreaded monkeypox virus.

On Friday October 13, 2017, the Nigerian Army commenced Exercise Crocodile Smile II in the following South-west and Niger Delta States: Lagos, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross River.

The Exercise will span 3 Divisions of the Nigerian Army (2, 6 and 81 Divisions) and is in line with the 2017 Training Directives which aims at training troops in the conduct of Internal Security Operations in aid of Civil Authorities across the various formations’ areas of responsibilities, based on Constitutional provisions.

Why is Exercise Crocodile Smile II necessary?

1. Exercise Crocodile Smile II is designed to further the gains and consolidate on the successes of Exercise Crocodile Smile I.

2. Exercise Crocodile Smile II is also designed to leverage on real time intelligence to curtail insecurity, thereby fulfilling the Army’s training and
operational objectives.

3. Exercise Crocodile Smile II is necessary to tackle and curtail security challenges in the South West and Niger Delta, such as illegal oil bunkering,
pipeline vandalism, cultism, kidnapping, and militancy.

4. Exercise Crocodile Smile II provides an opportunity for Nigerian troops to sharpen their skills to cope with these security challenges within the
2, 6 and 81 Divisions’ Area of Responsibilities.

5. Exercise Crocodile Smile II is designed to complement Operation Python Dance II in the Southeast.

The Exercise started on Friday October 13, 2017 and will last until Saturday October 28, 2017.

The National Security Council of Akpakip Eyo-Abasi Youth Association, led by the National President, Ulap Baron Ita Iniekung, arrested a man who attempted Killing his mother at the early hour of 4am on Sunday 15th October, 2017 at Anwana Abia Lane by Louis Ating Street, Oron, Akwa Ibom state.

The said suspect, who is reportedly being an indigene of Udung Uko LGA, has been handed over to the Police while the Mother who sustained serious injury is currently receiving emergency treatment at the hospital.
