Being in the opposition will be the best thing for both regions especially the South South which is responsible for most of Nigeria's revenue. The clamour for resource control is no longer left in the hands of militants but will now be championed by elected officials of the highest level. No more party solidarity to silence them. Someone like Governor Wike will be in the fore front. 9 Likes |

They should allow Naira to fall as much as it wants. That 4 billion dollars is enough to set up industries that will seriously reduce our dependence on imported goods and even start exporting. Those are what we need to have a strong Naira not this rubbish and wasteful approach. |

seunfly:The 3 highlighted LGAs were rigged, they are the ones INEC initially cancelled. APGA will win the in court or have the elections completely cancelled. As for the supplementary, APGA should just forget it. |
Politics / Re: Abia Gubernatorial Election: The Real Situation by collynzo2(m): 10:19pm On Apr 14, 2015 |
One thing is certain, APGA cannot overturn this lead after the supplementary elections. The 3 highlighted local governments were the initially cancelled ones that got reinstated after pressure on the INEC REC from T.A Orji and co, take them away and see what the result will be like. The figures were grossly inflated as elections simply didn't hold in those LGAs due to ballot snatching, violence etc. You could see that while other LGAs had a voter turn out of less than 50%, those highlighted ones had an almost 80% turnout and they aren't even among the most populated LGAs in the state. APGA should start heading to court already, there is just no way that result can stand! |

Politics / Abia Gubernatorial Election: The Real Situation by collynzo2(m): 9:58pm On Apr 14, 2015 |
The INEC Returning Officer for Abia State, Benjamin Ozumba, has declared Saturday’s governorship election inconclusive. Addressing journalists in Umuahia on Monday, Mr. Ozumba explained that the total number of registered voters in areas where elections did not hold or were cancelled was higher than the margin of difference between votes garnered by the candidate of the PDP, Okezie Ikpeazu, and that of the APGA, Alex Otti. The affected polling units are in some parts of Osisioma, Ugwunagbo, Aba North, Aba South, Isialangwa South, Isialangwa North, Umuahia North, Umuahia south, Ohafia Arochukwu and Umunneochi Local Government Areas. Before the election was declared inconclusive, the result accepted by the electoral officers showed the PDP candidate had polled 248,549 votes while the APGA candidate scored 165,406 making a difference of 83,053. A total of 177,000 votes were cancelled in some polling units in the local government areas. The figure is greater than 83,053 votes which is the margin between Messrs. Ikpeazu and Otti. Although the Electoral Act 2010 does not provide for “inconclusive” elections, it provides for postponement of an election as reflected in the marginal notes as well as actual provision of Section 26 (1). Section 21 (1) says “Where a date has been appointed for the holding of an election, and there is reason to believe that a serious breach of the peace is likely to occur if the election is proceeded with on that date or it is impossible to conduct the election as a result of natural disaster or other emergencies, the Commission may postpone the election and shall in respect of the area, or areas concerned, appoint another date for the holding of the postponed election provided that such reason for the postponement is cogent and verifiable. www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-east/181459-inec-declares-abia-governorship-poll-inconclusive.html |
