Sincere 9gerian: Very beautiful schools built by a PDP governor. The tales of PDP being a "nest of killers" or gathering of "non-performers" has now fallen apart.

However, my worry is with SUSTAINABILITY of these facilities. Can these structures stand shocks in world crude oil price?

Another worry for me is the QUALITY of teachers and teaching in those schools. It would be good to see recent data of examination performance of students in Rivers State. For me, I would rather have my kids taught under the TREE by fantastic teachers than in any of those "Amaechi" schools by poor quality teachers. I'm sure the likes of Chinua Achebe did not attend basic schools built with billions of naira.

The beautiful schools MUST be combined with high quality teachers and good administration. Otherwise, the "Amaechi" schools are beautiful nonsense.

Nonetheless, I commend the governor for investing this much in education.
The aspect of quality teachers was considered, many has been employed and the process is ongoing. The education sector reform of Amaechi's government was well planned. Do some research.

RedReact: Good one there. I also think they should embark on rennovation of old and dilapitated buildings in the schools, as well as building up new ones. The children in govt schools deserve equal, if not better, treamtments with their counterparts in private schools.
What you wrote is exactly what has been done, are you drunk?

PoliticsRe: Patience - Port-Harcourt Lost Its Attraction In Amaechi's Reign by collynzo2(m): 5:50pm On Jun 16, 2013
bloggernaija: Do you realise that port harcourt suffered a sudden population explosion around the beginning of Abacha 's regime?a lot of people moved to PH to take part in the oil rat race .you cannot remain a garden city under those circumstances.
PH might not exactly be a garden city right now, but it's very neat. A lot neater than kt was in the previous regime, thanks proper waste management system set up by Amaechi's government.

OdionOdion: The problems with many members of this forum as it relates to the Niger Delta insofacto Port Harcourt is that of total ignoramous.Port Harcourt was called garden city because of the serenity and orderliness in the city, besides the city used to boast of facilities like pipe borne water, clean environment, well flowered terrain, and well planned and organised street layouts. However the declining fortunes of Port Harcourt started after the administration of Rtd Fidelis Oyakhilome who was once a military administrator to the old Rivers State.Gov Amaechi is trying in terms development, his problems is empty head arrogance, pride and disrespect for elders;if he can change from these negative traits of his,he will definitely earn the respects and supports of all Rivers people, provided he work with the president
I don't care whether he repects his elders, works with the president or however he plays his politics, what I care about is how far he's gone in delivering his mandate to the people. He has done well in that aspect as confirmed by you, that's the only thing you should care about not dirty politics. Mtcheww

ssii: YES! Port harcourt has lost its attraction for cultists and political assassinations. Haba! Is this what politics is all about? Lying blatantly in the face of obvious truth. Or this woman is simply losing her mind because of her hatred for Amaechi. SMH
Exactly! PH has lost its attraction to armed robbers and kidnappers.

If he comes to Nigeria, government officials will claim they paid for the expenses. It would be a huge opportunity for them to steal money.

Is it the same PH î live in she's talking about? Before Amaechi came in you could have two different sets of arned robbers visit you in one night. The first thing Amaechi did when he came in was to turn around the security situation, now you can move around at night without fear. Amaechi has also done well in other areas. If other state governors could perform as well as he has done, Nigeria as a whole will be in a much better state.
