EastAlchemist:Nice sir. Kindly give us your own experiences. |
MrBrownJay1:So true sir.... Which country did you have your experiences in..? |
This thread is for Nairalanders who have traveled out(relocated) or travel out(foreign visits) either occasionally or frequently. What are the things; livestyles, culture shocks, cusines, religion, norms, education, government, discoveries that you have noticed in your travels to foreign country/lands that took you by surprise, shocked you, disgusted you or impressed you about your place of visit(country)..? (Tell us both positive& negative impressionyou had that made you either appreciate Nigeria or criticise Nigeria) For me: my negative impression was the unnecessary fear for Nigerians.....this made me appreciate Nigerians for their welcoming attitude towards foreigners irrespective of nationality. While my positive impression was the general contentment and ease with which life is approached.....this made me criticise our mindset of 'get everything by all means necessary " in Nigeria. I have many other experiences but let me wait for others ![]() Pls, add your experiences.... |
Bvlgari:Disgusting.....very demented woman. |
zig2ryme04:I like your sincerity and I commend you for that. I believe that every car dealer or business man/woman out there should strive to be sincere in their deals. Pls people don't discourage others from buying and don't bad mouth his car(product) The right customer will come, kudos OP. |
Philgafauto:Ok. If you truly made this post with good intentions to learn or educate then I will endulge you. I know some of the points you raise were from the place of uninformed mindset and bigotry. Furthermore, it is important to note that most times, other Nigerians and tribes in Nigeria fixate their attention on Igbos(Igbo this, Igbo that) 24hrs a day, everyone wants to have a say in Igbo affairs, advice them, chastise them, mock them, admonish them, criticize them but not themselves...............in as much as it is not there place to dictate to the Igbos on how to leave however the Igbos will always be open to make improvements while others pretend their house is in order only later to turn around to blame Igbos for their woes when they themselves fail and this same Igbos succeed in areas they have improved themselves. (People should tone down their obsession with Igbo affairs in this country) Corrections.... *Whoever told you guys that an Igbo man will never become president of Nigeria is delusional and just wants to decive himself to feel happy.....an Igbo person will rule Nigeria again and many times over as far as the nation remains one and no body can ever stop it when the time arrives no matter the schemes. *Whoever told you guys are not united is self decieption....Igbos have shown on steady and thru many occasions that love themselves more than most tribes in Nigeria. *Whoever told you guys that others hate Igbos, can't trust or work with them is a mischievous lies that has been long busted and will continue to be busted.....infact the opposite is the reality, Igbos are well loved&accepted... nobody hates them&they know it however they equally know those who do not receive them with openness. *Whoever told you guys that Igbos need validation from others to succeed then doesn't understand them....Igbos are wired to operate with little validation nor considerable opposition from others and still succed(check throughout Igbo history) *Whoever told you guys that Igbos can not defend themselves against any circumstances still do not know Igbos and thinks so at his own folly....Igbos are well capable to defend themselves anywhere; in their land, in a foreign land of habitation (check their anticidence) when push comes to shove. * Whoever told you guys that Igbos economic future is bleak or depends on other people or regions or policies then has not still understood them....Igbos may face challenges but will always find ways to prevail. their region is as economically bright as any other nation of the world and loaded with huge untaped potentials. *Whoever told you that Igbos must migrate other regions to succeed or can't do without migration is myopic in understanding...Igbos have shown to do so well in their land, as well as outside in foreign lands.... opportunities abound in Igboland for those who see it&wish to utilize it.......infact anytime Igbos decides to migrate back in droves with or without their investments in other parts of Nigeria, that is the time Nigeria's existence as a nation will be in serious Jeopardy. *Whoever keeps telling you guys that Igbos don't intertain foreigners in their region is also deluded and unintelligent, check the Igbo society and see the many success stories of prosperous and assimilated foreigners and non-Igbod there and those by their virtue of interaction in every aspects. *Finally, Igbos don't seek to drag anywhere with anybody or they need to equal opportunities in their host Territories. *Note Igbos are not boastful or arrogant, if you understand them, you will know that they only want to asert themselves most times in things they believe in and their confidence in their capabilities in areas of their strength&know how(which unfortunately some people mistake for arrogance). Brothers, make no mistake.......Igbophobia is very much real in Nigeria and Igbos are aware of these and make giant strides out of them to the amazement, applause, disappointment and envy of different people. Having established these facts, let's me inform you that Igbos that you think today are disadvantaged are only in a temporary situation because of leadership failures of the past..... however, watch them closely and you will realize that all that has been changing rapidly and they are getting their acts together. Igbos have instituted viable plans and motions to prevail and the gradual changes needed are taking place across board.(business, health, infrastructure, leadership, enterprenuership, education, security, politics&diplomacy, science& technology, culture and so many sectors). The biggest bane the Igbo society has had in the recent past had been good leadership but that they correcting already. Igbos are massively beginning to think home and are realizing the need to apply their weight in the land as their leaders and government are beginning to encourage that and their people response well alike. So these talk by some misguided people that Igbos should leave their regions and be contained in their lands only but helps the Igbo think home agenda in a very synchronized way. However one of the areas, Igbos have not made much progress is in the areas of Agriculture, cultural &historical preservation and education, visible leadership systems, proper& purposeful land plan, utilization& preservation and religious emacipation. * I agree with you that Igbos must follow the Israeli model to massively produce food(aquaculture, animal husbandry, food&cash crops, herbal crops, fruits, vegetables &nuts, onramental crops) for their food security to feed&export. *They have to institute the system to preserve Igbo cultural heritage, history, norms and values(build library, Igbo language& cultural centers, teach the language & culture compulsorily, institutionalise a strong system of cultural connection to other Igbo&Igboid group within Nigeria, Equitorial Guinea, Cameroon, the Gambia, Haiti, Jamaica, Brazil, Barbados, Dominican republic, USA, UK and else where. *Establish or strength the already existing strong(tried&time tested) leadership&followership systems to help guide their collective future easily even in politics. *Carry out a collaborative land survey, planning and utilization policies that can help her maximize the land size in their domain and still be able to preserve for future use. *Actively emacipate their populace from the Nigerian religious tribal pentecostal (manipulations) that are currently going on which isn't designed to benefit the Igbo church faithfuls nor their regions instead seeks to exploit their fervent commitments. *Igbos must always stand up decisively against any forms of attacks on them(in&outside their lands) to deal with such to serve as deterrence and Igbo leaders must always speak up for their people and take bold stands always. *Also the Igbo society must come down heavily on those misguided Igbo citizens who soil the good reputation of Igbos worldwide by involving in all manners of crimes both home&abroad(especially drugs, child&human trafficking, baby factory, fake products, fraud and prostitution in foreign lands) to deal with them. Igbo society should make conserted efforts to eradicate the mindsets of "quick money" and "materialism", ego & careless talk. *Finally, Igbos must operate a principle of "think home first"....take a very considerable percentage of their investments home and always spend quality time in their regions to actively develop it or better still make active moves to relocate back to their land like other Igbos have started doing to develop it massively in other to have economic leverage too( Igbos must take advantage of this election bohaha especially that of Lagos to think home now) *Yes, I agree with you that Igbo leaders must approach Nollywood, celebrities and the media to senitize their people and other non-Igbos that Igbo land is not a village neither is a place with no economic potentials.... sensitise their people that they can make it big in life by staying put in their region and developing it without migrating elsewhere. *Finally the Igbos must work hard to retain areas of their comparative advantages in Nigeria and beyond and localize those areas of advantages such as in (entertainment/Nollywood, sciences, technology, ICT, education, Media, finance & investments, health, sports, service industry, SMEs etc) ......Igbo elites, intelligentia, politicians and citizens must use their positions, cloats, influences and affluences to begin to attract massive investments and opportunities to their region of the south east and use their friendships to encourage their friends to come invest in their lands first before else where. Finally, it is important to note that Igbos surely do benefit massively from the unity of the Nigerian state and vice versa, respects and have learnt alot of good virtues from other amazing tribes of Nigeria. It is important important to celebrate & appreciate the Igbos themselves as they have always impacted positively&deepend Nigeria's unity& togetherness through their migration and investments in other regions of Nigeria. Igbos only demand equity, justice, mutual respect, peace and unity from every tribe and people of Nigeria. I just hope all Igbos, well meaning Igbos' friends, elites and the right persons of Igbo stock reads this my write up and runs with it. Success and Thanks. |
Philgafauto:Though I totally do not agree with some of your points however you raised some other vital points for Igbo nation consideration. |
Horus:Good! Bold and blunt man with a plan African mandate....more grace Mr. Malema. |
WannaHowzit:Does South Africa want to be vaporized...?? It will be foolishness with disastrous consequences if SA tried any move on President. Putin. Besides SA is a member of the BRICS organization ,has a good relationship with Russia and has largely stayed neutral in the Ukraine crises matter so they wouldn't dare arrest Mr. Putin. Importantly, it is even more ridiculous, dangerous and foolish for any country weither signatory to the ICC or not to attempt to arrest Putin in a foreign land. Try it and receive the furry of might Russia. The arrest warrant issues by the ICC is a mischievous and dangerous joke that must not take place else.....these deluded westerners will cook what they can not finish. Nobody should dare arrest a sitting president of any country anywhere....it is disrespectful and a call to the disruption of international peace. If a crime has been committed (that's if a genuine crime at all) there should be other biting measures or channels that should be explored against the said president or nation......however we all know the ICC charges are all vain and cooked up to suit the west. The ICC and the UN has succeded in making themselves a joke. The west over rates themselves.... Something that the US,UK, France or any NATO member state can not try is what they want to push other unsuspecting Nations to attempt....funny! |
Toks2008:They may try to manipulate the interpretation and judgement but will fail ...so let's be hopeful. God will work Obi's victory out in a beautiful way that everyone will know that it was God himself that did it. |
Toks2008:Pls what's your question sir? Ok, I have seen it now. My answer is NO. Abuja is not considered a state in the electoral laws of Nigeria but as a special federal capital territory. However in other matters of inclusivity...e.g....finacial allocations and other general national benefits, it is considered as one. Pls kindly go through in details my writeup early. Thanks. |
Brendaniel:God bless you richly my brother. You have analysied this matter truthfully. The beautiful thing here is, you don't even have to be a lawyer before you can understand and interpret that part of our electoral law of the constitution of Nigeria. The FCT is not a state period! Most times these mischievous people will cite a section of the constitution that regards it as a state but forgets that the context is different and context of a matter(case perculiarities) at hand is important in law. Also, they cite a certain judgement delivered by the supreme court of Nigeria, forgetting that, that was based on legal technicalities in another similar electoral matter but the context is not totally same as the one at hand. APC are simply only banking on the technicalities of law, arm twisting of the judiciary, bribery & manipulations and other mischievous antics to try to subvert the law of Nigeria but they have failed even before they began. The FCT is not a state reasons been that: *It does not have a governor but a minister. *It does not have its own state house of assembly rather has only 1 senator to represent in the national assembly...(it only has 6LGAs) *It does not have commissioners but directors. *It is refered as federal capital territory...in reference and same as the Australian capital territory (ACT), which makes it a special territory of the federal government and it's base of power. *It is also referred to in the nomenclature of Nigerian states when pronouced as "36 states and CAPITAL" and not 37 states of Nigeria. *The president of the country exclusively controls it through the minister of FCT who is his appointee unlike other states where the president does not have such powers. *It has a special status as can be seen in the privileges given to it in constitution. *It is ran by the minister through the FCDA (Federal capital development authority) a pesudo department/agency that controls&governs everything concerning the FCT. Finally the word "AND" in that critical.....(25% of total votes cast in 2/3 majority of the states and the FCT)...is a conditional statement. E.g...when universities say get atleast 6 credits scores in all subjects including English and maths, what does it mean...? It means you must have 6 credits scores with English and maths inclusive....without which, even if you have 6 credits in other subjects and not in Maths and English or 6 credits scores in other subjects and get only one of Maths or English, then you go nowhere until you get that two(English &Maths). However, if you get more than 6 credits or say 8 credits scores and English &maths are inclusive in them, then you get admitted....simple. So with these facts stated above, it is therefore a must to have 25% of the total votes cast in FCT as stated by the electoral laws of Nigeria before you can be declared as the President. As it is now, all eyes are on the Judiciary and this is the reason why the judiciary (Supreme court especially) must always try to interpret the constitution well and give clear and just judgements at all times in other to avoid conundrums like this, constitutional disasters&national analchy. Leave Urchins, let them and their masters keep decieving themselves...they are simply irredeemable. So therefore......Fire on Peter Obi&LPNg, you shall and must prevail victoriously in court. |
Ndlistic:Very beautiful guys. Build up your faith, team morale ,unity and God's support. Go super Eagles. |
AntiChristian:The intelligence of this A.I is amazing. This is an adpt representation of a Turing test in A.I systems. |
SReporters:I observed same thing with disappoinment however I want to believe it was an oversight and the right thing will be done by him. Such mistake must be corrected immediately and he must not be seen to be ungrateful to man on whose wings he rode on. |
chigoziri2403:Respect to the legend himself. Metsut Ozil 10....a gifted master of the beautiful game of football. We will miss your creativity, pass, vision, assists, wonder goals&style of football. Enjoy life ahead. |
Gucciblog:Congratulations to Abia state and it's blessed people. This is the start of many amazing God induced victories to come from now on for the LabourPartyNG. Appreciatuon& thank you Mr.Peter Obi, all his crew, Dr. Datti, all LabourPartyNG executives&members, the good supporters of LabourPartyNG and importantly the ever wonderful Obidients worldwide. |
fadilaMaikiriki:I like it only when it's done on the hands, arms, the stomach and laps. |
ijustdey:US the slimy meddlers.... They should stay off Nigeria 's internal issues. The nonsense undiplomatic behaviors of the US,UK&EU diplomates in Nigeria especially during this just concluded 2023 general elections where must not repeat itself again. When it comes to telling the government &power actors in Nigeria the truth or acting on it....they suddenly become numb but they want manipulate Nigeria into their false agendas. It was another that tried half of what the US do, the US govt will start screaming that Russia&China are meddling in their home affairs. |
millionaireman:It has always been in Nigeria and west Africa. |
ify2016:Stop wasting precious wildlife. Atleat the Civet is not a dangerous animal to be exterminated. |

kahal29:My question now is.....as a Revd Father, who will be his 1st lady now..? |
naptu2:Demented homos.....they want to force their views on you and call it free speech but when you express your own views against it, they will threaten&call you names&deny you that same free speech. Typical western&UK behaviors, always dealing in double standards. All the retards promoting homosexual behavior and nonsense binary live style will never succeed and their reprobate lives will consume them, if they fail to repent. It seems the misguided western world wants to turn true christains now to endangered group and suppress their views...but as long as Jehovah lives& the sun continues to shine and the night falls...the true gospel of Jesus Christs against all reprobate livestyles will always be preached&sustained. |
EBMedia:Well captured and said by Apostle Suleiman. |
FatherOfJesus:I quite agree with you. This is a noble advice that should be followed with immediate resolve. |

LocalStandard1:You are a pained soul. This thread reeks of stupidity and malicious mischief from evil souls. Igbo this, Igbo that, everytime, everywhere....yet you rush their women. Igbo women are not "good"... Yet majority of your tribes men court them with such high level of desire....most of your "big men", influential men& governors are married to these Igbo women. Igbo women are the most diversely married married ladies to different tribes in Nigeria and outside Nigeria....yet you and your likes come here to bad mouth them to unsuspecting public. You can not demarket an irresistible product of high quality. I believe an Igbo girl must have turned you down and you resorted to cheap online blackmail with the backing of your fellow bitter soul urchins. Igbo women are married even outside Nigeria in sizeable numbers and still being married.....why is that so?, If they are bad as you&your likes try to insinuate. If their women are materialistic and overhyped then stop chasing after them like your air that your life depends on. Come-on stop being a hypocrite. You hate Igbos online but can't do without them offline&in your private spaces. All these bitterness is because Igbos choose boldly to go on a different political path from you guys. The more you hate Igbos, the more the surpass you. |
Fredodoangel:This guy might have joined the occult....so for that he will lose...though I support him but GRV must stay away from occultism and strange diabolic powers. For him to win this herculean task, he must stay clean and trust God alone. |
fleps:Beautiful...! What a detailed investigation. This guy or whoever he/she or (they) are will forever be blessed for this effort for public good. The security agencies&leaders know these things but pretend not to however....food must prevail over evil always. Any thug that dares to operate anywhere in Lagos should be dealt with ruthlessly also states like Rivers, Imo, Enugu,Ogun,Sokoto, Abia, Kaduna,Jos,Borno, Calabar,Edo,Delta, Kogi,Benue,Nigeria,Oyo,Ondo,Akwa Ibom and Kano should be neutralized immediately. |
TheOldGods:Anything American are always overhyped. I never take their product that serious. Japanese, Germans, Russian or Koreans will give you better quality at more pocket freely bargain with less ego even without manipulations. Besides Statlink seems a huge CIA,NSA bait. |
voiceoftheupcom:The Nigerian federal government should come down hard on the UK and other foreign governments that porch our talented and skilled citizens. These governments are taking undue advantage of the 'directionless' government of the day. However, the FGN must also improve the enabling environment and work pay& incentives to keep these people back home. Finally, patriotism must also come in to play on the part of these Nigeria professionals in other to stay loyal to the service of the nation. |
