cloudgoddess:Not quite! Satan is a complex being. You can't pin him to any particular action or situation. If God had said to Adam and Eve ''Hey, look out for serpent, your enemy may use it to deceive you..'' Please read below for the situation in the Garden of Eden. First, man knew nothing about Satan. The whole concept of Satan could not sink because Satan is invisible. Second, Satan would use another method to carry out his enterprise. This is perhaps the most difficult aspect of Satan's nature. He can manifest in any form he chooses. So, the problem was not about God, but the limitation of man's understanding. Man simply did not know that Satan was in the garden/earth. The story is the same for every one who repudiates the existence of God and Satan. To underscore my posit on this issue, I'd like to ask you a question: Do you know that Satan is the ruler of this world? I urge you to read an interesting article on http://faithfuljoel.com/2015/07/the-tree-of-knowledge-of-good-evil/ |
God planted the tree of knowledge of good and evil to alert Adam that Satan was in the garden. God did not intend to test man's obedience through the tree, but to communicate to Adam and Eve that evil spirits were in the garden with them. Adam knew nothing about the invisible enemy. God knew Satan was in the garden, but since Adam did not give name to Lucifer, coupled with the fact that Lucifer/Satan is invisible, there was a problem communicating the nature and mission of Satan to Adam and Eve. Hence, God planted the tree of knowledge and evil to induce the adversary to reveal himself. Who else but Satan would kick against God's instruction? Adam and Eve would never have sinned deliberately without influence. I urge you to read an interesting article on http://faithfuljoel.com/2015/07/the-tree-of-knowledge-of-good-evil/ |
Religion is man's efforts at reaching God. Hence it is characterized by rigidity, fear, alms giving, and routine. True Christianity, on the other hand, is relationship based. It is characterized by love, faith, God's leading, joy, confidence, and peace. Is religion a thing of the mind? Yes! Religion stems from the mind, but Christianity is by regeneration of the human spirit - Inward revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ, otherwise known as New Birth. Religion and Christianity are like two parallel lines that can never meet., |

Sin: A Matter of Choice or Force? Before Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, God communed with them; but after they sinned, they were banished from the garden. Thus the consequence of sin is separation of man and God. The separation of man from his Maker inevitably exposes him to his adversary, Satan. Following the eviction of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, Satan took over the control of planet earth and the inhabitants thereof. Sickness, pain, and death are the direct and prolonged effects of sin, and these are used by Satan to afflict the natural man at will. As stated in the Bible, the sin of Adam and Eve gave birth to the sinful nature; so by constitution man is sinful. Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Apart from separation of man from God, sin also exerts power over man through the law of sin and death, and this is the reason man has the propensity to commit sins. The account of sin in the book of Genesis shows that sin was a CHOICE made by man. But when the Lord Jesus came on the scene He hinted that sin is a FORCE. The Lord Jesus revealed this when He told the Jewish leaders of His time that there was no freedom from sin except by faith in Him. “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” (John 8:24). And to underscore His assertion, in verse thirty four of John chapter eight, He likens the relationship between man and sin to what obtains in a slave-master relationship - Force. “Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the slave of sin.” In the Garden of Eden, sin was a choice, but outside Eden (in the world) sin has become a law (Force), acting on the natural man. The Bible is replete with references to the depraved and helpless nature of man at the grip of sin. In 1 Kings 8:46, Scripture says “If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not),...” and the book of Job chapter fifteen, verse fourteen, says, “What is man that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?” and then in verses fifteen and sixteen, it says, “Behold he (GOD) putteth no trust in His saints/angels, yea, the heavens are not clean in His sight. How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?” After the Lord Jesus Christ came to the world and atoned for the sins of Man, sin still remains a FORCE until the believer realizes his/her depravity and cry out for help. “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish:” is the lamentation in Galatians 5:17. What new converts realized at the time of regeneration is the vulgarity of their sins, hence their plead for mercy. After a while the new believer is bound to discover that sin is a force and then cry out for help before sanctification can take place. In conclusion, the salvation of Man is two fold: one is forgiveness of sins, and the other is freedom from sinful nature. Without this two-fold experience, the believer cannot enjoy the reality of divine power in life and ministry. What’s your take on this article? Is sin a choice or a force? @depressedsoul: You need inspiration and an idea to overcome poverty. With these two gifts from the Holy Spirits, there's no power, natural or spiritual, that can impose poverty on you. However, if you engage in any vice, such as sexual immorality, masturbation, or any compulsive habit, you may find it difficult to receive help from God until you seek freedom. Suicide is a thought planted in your heart by evil spirits. |
Sexual sins like Masturbation, Fornication, Adultery, etc, are the reasons many Christians are weak and not enjoying the power of God. Quite a number of believers are struggling secretly with one Sexual Sin or Compulsive Habit, and the effect is that many are weak spiritually and unable to enjoy uninterrupted fellowship with God. The powers of darkness, on the other hand, take advantage of believers' weakness to rob them of God's blessings; hence many Christians are plagued with problems beyond their control. In their quest to overcome sexual struggle, especially Masturbation, some believers subject themselves to constant fasting and prayers, hoping that by so doing they'll experience victory over the flesh. Though prayer, combined with fasting, is an important spiritual exercise that can help keep the body in check, but many believers soon discover that the effect is not far reaching. What's the way out of spiritual weakness caused by sexual sins ? Check it out at http://faithfuljoel.com |

Goshen360:interesting! But then, what the Lord Jesus accomplished on the Cross is a far cry from what obtains in modern day Christianity. Many believers are still defeated, oppressed, and in a state of confusion. Why? 1. Ignorance. 2. Deception. 3. Distraction (Entertainment). 4. Worldliness. 5. Wrong Orientation of the Christian faith. 6. Little Consciousness of the Holy Spirit 7. Wrong language. 2 Easy Steps to Freedom from Masturbation and All Compulsive Habits: http://faithfuljoel.com |
