Politics › Re: Nigeria Approves $2 Billion Bakassi Deep Seaport by comodo: 6:14pm On Oct 09, 2019 |
BrandSpurNG: The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the construction of Bakassi Deep Seaport which is currently ongoing. Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade announced the report and said that the approval has paved way to launch the port on a commercial scale.
“We have got the official approval for the Bakassi Deep Sea Port Outline Business Case which means that the Nigerian government has now officially recognized the Bakassi Deep Sea Port and has given us the impetus to go for the full business case,” stated Prof. Ben Ayade.
Bakassi Deep Seaport

The Bakassi Deep Seaport is to become the second trade port in Nigeria, after the Apapa port and would be the maritime gateway for the country’s landlocked northeast. This is because the rest of the ports are oil terminals.
The project development is supported by the interim transaction advisors, The Infrastructure Bank, and China Harbour. The project entails an evacuation corridor and a six-lane highway linking the port with the north. The proposed six-lane highway spans 162 miles across the length of the geographical space of the state from Bakassi in the South up to Northern part of the state which borders with Benue state in North Central Nigeria.
The 20-metre-deep harbour will cost approximately US $800 million and will be built via a public-private partnership (PPP). Upon completion, the Bakassi port will reduce congestion faced in Lagos ports and the Onne West Africa Container Terminal in Rivers State. It will also aid in the transportation of farm produce from the north to other parts of the country. “The outline business case proposed a 20-metre-deep harbour for transnational shipping, making it “the deepest seaport in Africa,” said Governor Ayade.

Car Talk › Re: Nigeria Made Vehicles To Be Ready Soon, Nigerians Can Buy, Pay In 5-Year Plan by comodo: 3:28pm On Oct 08, 2019 |
AutoReportNG: The Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, Jilani Aliyu, has disclosed that plans are underway to make locally-made vehicles readily available for Nigerians to buy and make payments in at least five-year instalments.
Speaking with newsmen at the ongoing GITEX 2019 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Mr Aliyu stated that his agency was collaborating with JAIZ, WEMA and Zenith banks with a view to providing single-digit financing for made-in-Nigeria vehicles.

According to him, in about three months’ time, Nigerians will be able to put down 10% and drive off made-in-Nigerian vehicles and pay over five years.
He said: “Instead of continuing to be importing fully-built vehicles from overseas, we are working towards promoting and sustaining the production of vehicles in the country.
“This effort will give us brand new vehicles that would be fuel-efficient, very modern and it will create tens of thousands of jobs.
“It will help grow the economy and it will also stop us from being a dumping ground for old and dilapidated vehicles.
“We feel that with this scheme in place, Nigerians can now buy and drive new vehicles. Nigerians deserve more than that,” Mr Aliyu stressed.
On the prices of these vehicles, the D-G said the vehicles are cost-effective, affordable and in tune with the environment.
“Of course, the objective of manufacturing these vehicles locally is to be cost-effective, affordable and very in tune with the environment and elegance. So we are looking at the price much, much lower than what we have today, probably between three and five million Naira,” Mr Aliyu disclosed.
On his efforts towards making Nigeria one of the vehicle-manufacturing countries to reckoned with, Mr Aliyu said: “We as a government body, we encourage the private sector to produce vehicles in Nigeria through the National Automotive Industrial Development Plan, NAIDP.
“NAIDP is a program that has five cardinal elements to help promote local production of vehicles.
“Those elements are investment promotion, which is to work with the private sector and encourage and support them in bringing money into Nigeria to set up their factories.
“Then we also have an infrastructure plan to provide the necessary infrastructure for the industry to set up and be sustained.
“We also deal with standards to make sure that the components that go into the vehicles meet minimum global standards.
“Then we also have training where every year we train thousands of Nigerians on mechatronics so that they understand the new automotive technology and be capable of fixing and maintaining these vehicles professionally.
“We as well deal with market development. First, we promote the production and then work with stakeholders, end-users and the companies to help people to be able to buy these vehicles,” Mr Aliyu noted.

MetalJigsaw: Samuel Chukwueze: Super Eagles’ fighting spirit‘ll trouble Brazil
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze believes the big match between Nigeria and Brazil is more than friendly tie with combatants on both sides readying themselves for the prestige game.
The October 13th duel slated for Singapore National Stadium would be the first real contest between the two sides since Brazil beat Nigeria 3-0 in an international friendly at the then newly-constructed Abuja National Stadium (now known as M.K.O Abiola Stadium) in 2003.
Incidentally, Chukwueze was in Nigeria’s national U-17 team that drubbed the South Americans 3-0 five years ago at the Estadio Sausalito Vina Del Mar on their way to winning a record fifth global cadet title in Chile.
“That’s a big game (between Nigeria and Brazil) to look forward to in Singapore and I think it’s going to be a tough match,” the 20-year-old Chukwueze said in an interview.
Though the five-time World Cup champions were run-away winner with a comprehensive 4-0 defeat of Japan during their last visit to Singapore five years ago, Chukwueze said it would be a close contest between the Selecao and Super Eagles.
“I don’t know how it’s going to be but I’m confident we are going to make our country proud because everybody is going to look up to this game,” explained Chukwueze who was recently named in the 40-man list of nominees for the 2019 Golden Boy Award.
“It’s going to be a tough game but everybody would see what we are made of when we play against Brazil. I believe this set of Super Eagles is very good; it’s not just that we are good but we are committed.
“We have the fighting spirit to do everything possible to remain one of the best teams in the world and I think we are going to do well against Brazil,” added the 2018 Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Young Player of the Year. If your selfishness no take over. |

M7even: Fikayo Tomori said he didn't get a call from Nigeria
The 21-year-old has been a revelation in the heart of Chelsea’s defence this season, and that has earned him a call-up to England’s national team, but he has now revealed it was not a given he was going to represent the Three Lions ahead of Nigeria and Canada
Tomori was also eligible to play for one of Canada or Nigeria, but he is set to feature for England after he was named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
Speaking on why he decided to choose England ahead of Canada and Nigeria, Tomori said he would have represented either of those countries had they extended an invitation to him before England did.
In an interview with Goal where Soccernet.ng got excerpts from, Tomori revealed it was not 100% sure he was going to play for England despite representing them at youth level.
“England is such a big nation, as well as Nigeria and Canada, so I think I was going to be happy with whoever called me up – but it’s nice it is England,” Tomori said.
“It wasn’t England all the way. I had certain people and certain things that I had to consider. I spoke to my family and people that I care about it and that’s the decision I came to. So, when England came calling, it was difficult to say no.
“It was just more of a thing I was waiting for a call-up because the last international break I didn’t get a call-up from anyone. This international break, I was waiting for a call-up and England called me up. Laughs in spiritual powers. This guy eeh. Niger-Area don suffer. |

MYDEBBY: Dear Nairalanders, I greet you all.
Pls I need candid advice, I have dated my wife for over six years without an issue and now that we have done traditional rites and about to climax with white wedding she is giving flimsy excuses that she is no longer interested in me.
She is currently in final year and has drastically changed in her dressing and attitude towards due to influence of friends in school.
Often I do report incidences of her recent poor dressing to her parents after cautioning her she will channel the grievances to me.
The recent one made her so angry that she started recanting all my past mistakes which she and her family are aware of and have resolved since now using it as an excuse against me that she is no longer interested.
She kept mute for over two weeks due to anger yet I still transferred money twice to her but up till now she did not acknowledged it, only for her to send text that she need money for our daughters school fees. I then decide to visit them off campus where they stay yesterday with lots of provision yet she could not say a common thank you.
While I was still making peace with her asking her to forgive me for whatever wrong I have done to her by reporting her to her PARENTS, promising not to do so again, a guy knocked the door and she went out after the guy I asked a relation who was there who was the guy and he said he is my wife's friend, I quickly followed them on citing me the guy diverted after their discussion about me.
When we then entered the house I asked her who was the guy and she said that's not my business. I kept quiet.
After a while I called her parents to tell them the situation of things that their daughter said she is no longer interested they now asked us to come down to the village to see them this coming weekend.
I know things are not alright somewhere and as such I need straight forward advice on what to do.
Pls no insult just help out.
Thanks If have lost a woman's heart, you have lost her. My candid advice bro. Just move on, she is only seeing a black spot on a gem. There is someone out there that Will see only the gem. Wish her well and move on. Don't look back cos she will come in later as a distraction. Thank me later. |
