PoliticsRe: Let Me Shake Pdp's Table Small by comos: 4:53pm On May 15, 2018
ALMUSTAQIM:
LET ME SHAKE PDP’s TABLE SMALL...

In 2008, the former PDP chairman Ahmodu Ali suggested a new Headquarters should be constructed for their party, PDP. The idea was welcomed by all party members.

A 12 story building was agreed upon. The former Vice President who at the time was the Governor of Kaduna State, Architect Namadi Sambo, designed the structure of the proposed new secretariat.

The contract was awarded to BNL construction firm for N10billion with a delivery date of two and half years. First quarter of that year, Ahmodu Ali was kicked out of office.

Then came a new PDP Nat. Chairman, Vincent Ogbulafor, who keyed into the idea of the new Secretariat by his predecessor. He quickly rallied round party members on how to raise funds.

By November 14, 2008, Ogbulafor organized a fundraising dinner for the N10billion needed to execute the project. On that night, N6billion was generated cash down.

Femi Otedola was the baba olowo in attendance. He was the highest donor. You know Femi Otedola na. Don't you? Ok! You remembered Farouk Lawal & subsidy money kwo? Ehen, na that Femi wey been dey swallow subsidy money that Farouk wanted to rope him before Femi come use akpako pass akpako on him. Femi single handedly donated N1billion to PDP on the night. No shaking! PDP! POWER!!!

This one no be dem say dem say, I watched that fund raising dinner live on AIT on that day. I saw the massive explosion of cheers when Femi announced his N1billion donation.

Back to my story jare.
So, five years later after the fundraising dinner, the secretariat was nowhere near 20% completion even though N6billion was raised for the project that was initially meant to be completed in 2 & a half years.

However, in October 2013, another former National Chairman of PDP, this time, it was Bamanga Tukur, he initiated fresh moves to re-mobilise the contractors back to site. How? Through fundraising of course. Are you a learner?

In December 2014 a combined fundraising dinner was organized to raise funds for Mr. Jonathan's 2015 presidential election and for the building project. A mouth watering & mind boggling sum of N21 billion was realized at the event. Yes! You heard me right: N21billion. Is it ur N21billion?

I know a lot of us are not very good at mathematics, but let's do this quick maths.

N6billion + N21billion = N27billion. Blood of Moses! Meanwhile, the secretariat originally was meant to cost "only" N10billion.

Lest I forget to tell you, only N2billion was given to BNL construction company as mobilisation from the N6billion that was raised from the initial fundraising. Balance from there was N4billion. Therefore; N4billion + N21billion?

The remaining N25billion was converted to yams & eaten up by goats of many breeds. Lol

At the time I typed this post at 02:37am this morning, the new PDP headquarters in Abuja is still not 50% completed.

This brings me to a saying by a character in the gods are not to blame; Odewole said;" If the crocodiles can eat up their own eggs, what can they not do to the body of the frog"?

I'm begging all my PDP friends to take this message to Secondus, Fayose & Wike, PDP should finish building their secretariat in Abuja first before they come to build the entire Nigeria. Tankiu!

PoliticsBreaking: Buhari Gone Missing, Two Days After Leaving U.S. by comos(op): 1:24pm On May 03, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari’s whereabouts appears shrouded in mystery, two days after he left Washington following a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump.

The president was expected in Nigeria on Wednesday.

Mr Buhari’s official aircraft, Eagle One, left Joint Base Andrews military airfield in Washington on Tuesday morning and arrived in London at 9:42 p.m., according to Flight Radar 24, which tracks air traffic across the world.

But as at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, the aircraft was still in London amidst unclear circumstances.

An April 27 State House press release which announced Mr Buhari’s scheduled take-off from Nigeria on May 28, did not say he would stop by in London.

The statement only gave highlights of the president’s engagement while in the U.S.

Mr Buhari arrived in Washington on April 29 and had a series of bilateral meetings with Mr Trump, including a working launch and a joint press briefing.

Mr Buhari then left the American capital in the morning of May 1, according to one of his media aides. Bashir Ahmad, said the president was on his way to Abuja, Nigeria.

There was no official announcement updating the nation about a possible change of route for the president.

PREMIUM TIMES reached out to senior presidential spokespersons Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu to clarify the president’s whereabouts.

None of them responded to phone calls and text messages about the matter as at Thursday morning.

Mr Buhari was treated for an undisclosed ailment in London for months between 2016 and 2017, .

Since returning to work, most of the president’s foreign trips have been planned with stopovers in London, officials say.

The presidency has not given details of Mr Buhari’s health, and it is not clear whether he was billed for medical evaluation in the UK during his current trip.

PoliticsBuhari: More People Killed In Zamfara Than Benue, Taraba Put Together by comos(op): 9:36am On May 02, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has repeated a controversial statement he made about recorded deaths in Nigeria’s ongoing violence linked to suspected herdsmen.

During a condolence visit to Taraba State on March 5, the president told his audience in Jalingo, the state capital, that more people were killed in Zamfara than Taraba and Benue states.

The comments generated nationwide uproar, with many saying that not only was the president factually incorrect, but also fuelling serious suspicion that could be perceived from his seemingly partisan comments.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also came down heavily on the president for the remarks, describing it as divisive and ill-thought.

Mr Buhari has not clarified his comments since then, and he doubled down when he commented about it again during his recent trip to the United States.

Asked by the Voice of Nigeria what other agreement he sealed with President Donald Trump during their bilateral talks, Mr Buhari responded as follows:

“Not agreements, just discussions. The first one is the information being given to them that Christians are being killed in Nigeria; but what happened in the Church also happened in the South-east and the North and they just say it is herdsmen that are killing them.

“Those making these allegations against the herdsmen know that herdsmen, as we know them only carry sticks, going about with guns is a new thing and those making the allegations know that conflict between farmers and herders has a long history even before we were born.

“Therefore, it is wrong to say the conflict is between Fulani and Tiv or other tribes, like in Taraba. ‘What of Zamfara, where more people were killed than in Taraba and Benue put together’?

“People need to understand that it is mischief that makes people to bring in religion or ethnicity,” the president said.

States affected by the ongoing killings by suspected herdsmen have largely handled their crises individually without necessarily highlighting who suffered more cassualties, but the president’s statement could now be seen as a challenge for some states to frequently publish statistics recorded in the unabated carnage.

The president holds that the killings are perpetrated by possibly imported mercenaries with similarly imported arms from Libya and other crises-plagued countries across the Sahel.

Breaking: Senate adjourns over Melaye, summons IGP Idris

The Senate on Wednesday adjourned its plenary in solidarity with one of their colleagues Sen. Dino Melaye who was arrested and humiliated with men of the Police Force. The decision of the Senate followed a motion moved by Senator Sam Anyanwu over the arrest of their colleagues. An yanwu had decried that the police refused he and other colleagues from seeing Melaye at the hospital.

However, the prayer that the senate adjourn was moved by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa who insisted that there was no need for the senate to sit about and debate when the health condition of their colleague was unknown. He insisted that it was not only when a colleagues dies that the senate should adjourn but that the senate must adjourn over life threatening situations such as this. The prayer was seconded by Senator Sunny Ugboji and adopted by the senate and the senate thereafter adjourned plenary. The senate also adopted the motion that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, briefed the senate in plenary on Thursday.

PoliticsOshiomhole, Oyegun’s Ambitions Split APC by comos(op): 8:16am On Apr 24, 2018
The ambitions of two leaders of Nigeria’s ruling party, APC, have caused a split among state chairpersons of the party.

The current National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, and a former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, both seek to emerge the national chairman of the party at its forthcoming convention.

While Mr Odigie-Oyegun seeks to retain his position, Mr Oshiomhole, who is believed to enjoy the support of ex-Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, wants to lead the party for the first time.

Both challengers are from Edo State, South-south Nigeria, the region the chairmanship is believed to have been zoned.

A major indication of the split in support for both contenders emerged on Monday after a meeting of APC chairpersons from the South-south.

At the end of the meeting, four state chairpersons of the party held a press conference, alleging they were ambushed to support Mr Oshiomhole.

The video of the press conference was sent to PREMIUM TIMES by the national leadership of the APC hours after a statement claimed the APC chairpersons had endorsed Mr Oshiomhole.

The South-south state chairpersons said they were ambushed with Mr Oshiomhole’s adoption agenda at the meeting insisting that Mr Odigie-Oyegun be given a right of first refusal to seek re-election for the position.

The state chairmen that opposed Mr Oshiomhole’s endorsement are the Rivers State chairman; Davies Ikanya; Bayelsa State chairman; Joseph Fafi; Cross River State chairman, Etim John; and the Akwa Ibom State APC chairman, Amadu Attai; as well as the APC Deputy National Secretary, Victor Giadom.

Rawlings issued the statement signed by one Kobina Andoh Amoakwa from his Communications Directorate on Sunday, making it clear that he had made no comment or issued a statement on President Buhari’s much-criticised comment.
