Good morning house.. I always hear some sound coming from the front of my car.. The left tire side.. I was scared because of the general problem of Honda being ball joint but the mechanic said it's the linkage and low arm bushing so I changed those 2 but the sound still comes up even worse so I changed the ball joints too just on Thursday yet the issue still persist... I'm not comfortable with that sound I'm taking it back to the mechanic tomorrow please house what could be the issue?

When last did you change your wheel bearings in the hub for your front legs? It might be worn out hence the noise you hear especially if it still makes the sound when you’re on a smooth road.

It's 4 plugs. I serviced it a week ago 5litres oil was used. I haven't noticed any drop in oil though

But do you still see drops on the ground everyday after you drive during this past week that you serviced it?

If you still see drops of oil and you are sure your power steering or transmission isn’t leaking then you will have to take your vehicle to a competent mechanic to find your leak.

I once had a slow leak at my oil sump because one of the sump bolts broke in half and instead of me to bring down the engine to remove the broken bolt I just used an oil additive that sealed the leakage for me.

You might try my method but only after you have identified where the leakage is coming from.

Good evening, the gear do Jack when its about to accelerate and enter gear 2 or so. It takes time to select and I was told it's not gear problem cos it drives smoothly when I am on speed.

Hmm it jerks and selects only from gear 1 - 2? If you accelerate and release your leg from the throttle does it still jerk when changing from the gear 1 - 2?

What of other gears? Does it also jerk when it’s reducing gears? Like going from gear 2 - 1?

Good evening car enthusiasts, please I have an issue.

I notice a pool of oil under the car immediately I park after driving for a while. While driving it does not leak because it would have seen a trail of the leak. Soon as I stop driving, it immediately leaks out a pool of oil and stops leaking.

I will take the car to the mechanic tomorrow but will appreciate if anyone can share similar experience or the possible cause.

The confusing thing is the leak is not a steady leak. It only leaks immediately I park after driving.

How much oil you you top up with every week? Does your oil level on the dipstick drop after every time you drive the car?

My Honda gear use to blink the drive light instead of staying permanently, just yesterday the d3 light was blinking continuously as well and and I confused what's wrong with my car. It's a 2008/2009 Honda accord.

Do you notice any issues with the way the gear behaves while you drive?

Go and pull your transmission dipstick and check the level and color, also take a clear picture of the dipstick and post it here so we can see and know if the fluid is still good.

You need to scan your car so we will know the faults it’s displaying by blinking your D and D3 lights.

What year of pilot is this? I’m suspecting your VCM but confirm your vehicle year first so I’d be sure.

Good afternoon guys.
Finally decided to scan my car today. I bought it on good friday being april 15th. It is an acura tsx 2008. I had a check engine light on and it worried me being a first time owner. I also noticed a slight high fuel consumption and My younger brother observed same too cause I left the car in his care while registering it and trying to get my driving license.
I actually bought an Xtool Ad10 scanner yesterday. Scanned it some mins ago. Got three error codes. I cleared the error codes and scanned again. Two codes remained.
So guys help me out

Congratulations on your ride. Did you buy it as a Nigerian used or tokumbo?

For your first code you’d need to change your oxygen sensors.

For the second code I can hazard a guess that your thermostat had been deleted and your cooling fans are working directly with ignition/battery power in which case you’d have to revert your electricals for the fans back to factory specifications.

Both those codes will definitely affect your fuel management negatively so repair them to enjoy your vehicle.

I should spend N3.5M on a vehicle that doesn’t have traction control? So all the fuel she’s been saving she will now use X 10 of that money to repair the car

At 3m plus I will be foolish to buy at that price. So anybody can put any price on anything, the main problem is how to sell it

If a member of my family tries to spend more than N2M to buy that tiny light Japanese bland boring econobox I’d call an immediate emergency meeting and make it clear that purchasing that type of vehicle for such a price in our family means total excommunication from the lineage.

If common boring corolla can cost as much as N3.5M-N4M then nobody should shout when someone tries to sell his much stronger, powerful and reliable camry 2.2 for N1.5M

This is where the advantage of armored glass comes to play. It always gives the chance for an escape.

Assuming it was a bulletproofed glass,using a hard weapon on it wont even show any sign,and even a couple of close gunshots will only crack it,and you zoom off.

From what you described, I guess my engine RPM is fine because after 10-15mins, the rpm stays within 600-800rpm

The vehicle my madam uses does 3000 miles in 6 months. I do the maintenance myself and there's hardly any maintenance to be done self asides oil changes.

Whoever buys the vehicle would have hit serious jackpot.

Stop tearing race when you hear used by a banker, some of the vehicles are in pristine condition.

I understand that not all of them are like that especially those who bought the cars themselves and not their husbands.

But the fact is that if your madam is using regular conventional oil and changing it twice a year after a total of circa 6k miles a year then her engine is prone to becoming sludgy. She should be using synthetic oil for that type of severe use.

Anything that makes someone separate the gearbox from the engine and bring it down is the same as overhauling. You should change the fluid for a proper job period.

Cleaning solenoids and checking electrical switches doesn’t really require a change of fluid plus draining fluid regularly via the drain plug takes the regular 3 quarts to refill back to guage.

For a regular drain and fill you’d need 3 quarts but if you’re overhauling the gearbox you’d need up to 9 quarts.

Especially when the said vehicles that are being put up for sale were not bought brand new by the company. Everybody knows that if a company is purchasing vehicles for staff that it’s usually tear nylon. One of those cars for sale up there was not likely sold brand new in Nigeria as at the years it was being produced so how come? I’m speaking Specifically of the lexus.

I just had a terrifying experience on eko bridge this night, y'all know that curve road that connects back to eko bridge when coming from Carter bridge, so this 2 guys were walking along that road and there's a trailer in front blocking cars to move faster to join eko bridge. Suddenly, I started hearing someone shouting wind down or I will shoot you, he kept saying that repeatedly to the person driving the car besides me, he was holding something covered with handkerchief, I couldn't tell if its gun or not but the driver didn't wait and he didn't wind down, he was just waiting for the perfect chance to overtake the trailer in front and immediately he got little chance, I also zoom through the little space before they come for me.

What you’d just hear is KpruaaAA glass flying everywhere and all over your body then a cold iron pushing the side of your head with like 2 accompanying slaps on your face.

Nobody will tell you when you’d give them your wallet, keys and phones (even the ones you’re hiding under your seat)

I've never heard of it till last night, we learn everyday. I'm guessing this will be good for cars like EOD, Jettas and some Camry's that seem to be notorious for the issues you mentioned. Is this device available in Nigeria ?

You can create one by yourself. All you need is

A length of oil pipe/hose (the same type and size with the one running from your pcv to valve cover)

Two small pipes of similar diameter with your pcv hose fitting

Weld the pipes into a small container (vacuumed) with one sticking further into the container than the other (one pipe should be shallow and one should run half way deep)

Iron sponge (the type used in washing pots) that will be wrapped around the deeper running iron pipe inside the catch can

And hooks/hangers or a way to mount the can somewhere convenient in your engine bay (as far away from any major heat source as possible)

Also make sure the can you choose has a screw cover or you can weld a small tap/valve for emptying the contents out when it’s caught some oil.

I e done it before. I used one of all those aluminum water bottles that office workers usually carry around. On an EOD engine it caught some oil over the course of an oci and I’d recommend it to keep your valve train and intake manifold sludge free.

Op use the type gazzuzz recommended above first and observe the rate of consumption.

I don’t understand our oil importer ogas on nairaland these days oh. You know many Nigerians are becoming aware of the goodness of synthetic fluids over conventional and the fact that most of these engines are oil burning monstrosities yet you won’t consider finding the synthetic 20w50 engine oils to import and sell. Why?

Nowadays many Nigerian rebuilt engines or imported oil burners change from using synthetic 5w20/30 to use our conventional 20w50 oils in the market which are of very questionable qualities.

Majority of imported Toyota (and other) vehicles are oil guzzlers from factory but clean inside and without sludge. Don’t you know owners will prefer using the synthetic 20w50 to reduce/eliminate oil consumption, run longer oil change intervals and yet keep their engines clean?

Synthetic 20w50 doesn’t form sludge and it’s good for 5,000 miles of use (and more)

Why not import this spec of fluid and sell in our local market? You’d be surprised at the amount of patronage you’d be receiving if you try this venture just once and advertise here on nairaland.

A Peugeot 406 without any electronic issues is a very splendid machine especially for long distance travels and comfort.

but be aware that it has various engine types so ask which is in its bay before you purchase it.

What you described above is a normal operation.
Infact, it should drop to 800 in fifteen minutes or less. (650 if AC is on)

It’s not normal. When you start the engine it should idle as high as 1.5k-1.8k rpm and gradually drop to between 750-800rpm when the vehicle is warmed up.

When you put your ac on it should dip to like 650-700rpm and immediately climb back up to the initial 750-800rpm and hold steady. Same with when you put the gear in D with your foot on the brakes.

While you’re turning your power steering either left or right the idle from 750-800rpm should climb to 850-900rpm and immediately drop back down to the initial 750-800rpm and hold steady as well.

That is the proper idling sequence for the EOD that hasn’t been abused.
