HeavenlyBang:Kindly point out the wrong portions of his post for others to learn. |
HenryWilliams:So far you’ve put the thermostat back into the engine then you’ve solved 90% of the problem. Your cooling fan working immediately you turn the ignition key would not affect the vehicles temperature anymore as far as the thermostat is working well. The only thing the direct fan wiring can affect is the longevity of the fans engine. Meaning instead of the cooling fan to work for 10yrs it’s lifespan will be reduced to like 8yrs. To me it’s not a big deal anymore if you can’t find the cooling fan switch to buy and install into the bottom of your radiator (that is the switch that controls the cooling fan working intermittently instead of directly) |
Parblo01:I think you should change your transmission fluid now if you’ve never done that before. It’s going to take 3 liters of Honda ATF-DW1 type of fluid. Don’t use any other one. If the problem persists then you will need a scan of your vehicle to try and pinpoint the issue |
CheerfulGiver:ODOGWU NWANNE na you be man abeg taawaa the money and pepper dem lazy D’s ![]() |
zuraking:Bro was your car originally a V6 before someone put in a civic engine? If it was originally a V6 do you still have the double exhausts? Is the civic engine they put in the type that has a I-vtec 2.0 displacement or is it the 1.6L/1.8L? Can you take a picture of your engine bay and post it here for me to see? I need to confirm the exact type of engine you currently have in your bay because it may be connected to the issues you’re having with your gearbox. If you switched engines you must surely have also switched transmissions and brain box (ECU) too because a V6 transmission won’t work with a 4cyl engine at all. And even at that some K24/K20 engines use different types of transmissions too, all are not necessarily compatible because they bolt on properly. Back to the issue of your jerky transmission it’s an easy fix if you’re ready to let a mechanic bring it down and do some cleaning for you. Refer to my post in the link below https://www.nairaland.com/996664/maintenance-tips-honda-cars/342#112199773 You are to clean the solenoids in the CIRCLED part of the picture below and also change your transmission fluid at the same time. You will need 9 quarts of fluid if you’re bringing down your gearbox from your engine or 4 quarts if you’re going to be doing the cleaning with the gearbox still in your engine bay. The solenoids are SHIFT SOLENOID VALVES A,B,C,D & E. Still try to get a comprehensive vehicle scan so we can pinpoint the exact solenoid you’d need to clean for your gearbox to be okay. Why a scan is necessary is because You might clean it and it won’t be okay because it’s damaged hence the need to change the affected solenoid out once and for all.

Kingdemu:My brother this one been weak me as I see am no be small but we moovee |
tobisunday:When last did you change your wheel bearings in the hub for your front legs? It might be worn out hence the noise you hear especially if it still makes the sound when you’re on a smooth road. |
RedChair:But do you still see drops on the ground everyday after you drive during this past week that you serviced it? If you still see drops of oil and you are sure your power steering or transmission isn’t leaking then you will have to take your vehicle to a competent mechanic to find your leak. I once had a slow leak at my oil sump because one of the sump bolts broke in half and instead of me to bring down the engine to remove the broken bolt I just used an oil additive that sealed the leakage for me. You might try my method but only after you have identified where the leakage is coming from. |
zuraking:Hmm it jerks and selects only from gear 1 - 2? If you accelerate and release your leg from the throttle does it still jerk when changing from the gear 1 - 2? What of other gears? Does it also jerk when it’s reducing gears? Like going from gear 2 - 1? What type of engine is in your car? Don’t forget to take the picture of your transmission dipstick and show us here before you go for a scan. |
RedChair:What type of engine is in your car? How much oil you you top up with every week? Does your oil level on the dipstick drop after every time you drive the car? |
zuraking:Do you notice any issues with the way the gear behaves while you drive? Go and pull your transmission dipstick and check the level and color, also take a clear picture of the dipstick and post it here so we can see and know if the fluid is still good. You need to scan your car so we will know the faults it’s displaying by blinking your D and D3 lights. |
oriste:What year of pilot is this? I’m suspecting your VCM but confirm your vehicle year first so I’d be sure. |
vivalavida:Congratulations on your ride. Did you buy it as a Nigerian used or tokumbo? For your first code you’d need to change your oxygen sensors. For the second code I can hazard a guess that your thermostat had been deleted and your cooling fans are working directly with ignition/battery power in which case you’d have to revert your electricals for the fans back to factory specifications. Both those codes will definitely affect your fuel management negatively so repair them to enjoy your vehicle. |
Small skid or slide and this jap econobox must either tumble or fly into the bush ![]() I should spend N3.5M on a vehicle that doesn’t have traction control? So all the fuel she’s been saving she will now use X 10 of that money to repair the car |
What type of vehicle is this that you’re battling with? |
Itsrm:If a member of my family tries to spend more than N2M to buy that tiny light Japanese bland boring econobox I’d call an immediate emergency meeting and make it clear that purchasing that type of vehicle for such a price in our family means total excommunication from the lineage. |
If common boring corolla can cost as much as N3.5M-N4M then nobody should shout when someone tries to sell his much stronger, powerful and reliable camry 2.2 for N1.5M |
Have you checked your spark plugs? |
Felicity001:lol even the latest corolla with bulletproof window no go fit jam that your Mercedes’ benz shift comot for road oh You want make the corolla engine, fender and gearbox press like toast bread abi? |
lagusboyyy:You have a very good head on your shoulders. But about the bolded above, what would you do if after installing the bulletproof windows and then you get attacked but as your windows are shielding you there is nowhere for you to zoom off to because you’re in a hold up or very tight space? ![]() Have you watched Captain America Civil War, at that beginning when they cornered Samuel L Jackson in a bulletproof SUV but he had nowhere to run to? That kind of situation will make me sh1t my pants for real ![]() |
CjEmmar:Lucky you ![]() |
kanuisagoat:I understand that not all of them are like that especially those who bought the cars themselves and not their husbands. But the fact is that if your madam is using regular conventional oil and changing it twice a year after a total of circa 6k miles a year then her engine is prone to becoming sludgy. She should be using synthetic oil for that type of severe use. |
tojahh:No naw, it’s what they told him about the vehicles that he’s telling us. He’s just a broker so he’s doing his job |
ThePundit14:Anything that makes someone separate the gearbox from the engine and bring it down is the same as overhauling. You should change the fluid for a proper job period. Cleaning solenoids and checking electrical switches doesn’t really require a change of fluid plus draining fluid regularly via the drain plug takes the regular 3 quarts to refill back to guage. |
pope191:Of course there must be some exceptions ![]() |
quam9997:I myself don’t know who to recommend for mechanical issues at oyingbo but for electrical issues contact Tobi 0708 988 5601 |
ThePundit14:For a regular drain and fill you’d need 3 quarts but if you’re overhauling the gearbox you’d need up to 9 quarts. |
pope191: Women bankers wey no dey even remember to change engine or transmission oil self. Dem no even fit open bonnet check radiator coolant or pull dipstick Some go even leave their gear on D3 take drive from bandagry reach lekki return back no wahala because na so dem sabi the driving ![]() What of those that drop their car with mechanic or call mechanic to come to their house and pick it up and drop off after working nko? No quality control or checkings. Those ones that mechanic like their work because they overcharge and undercut their repair jobs? Na him una want make I come use my hard earned money take buy their car say wetin happen ![]() The only thing usually good about ‘women banker’ used cars are their interior that’s all. Dem sabi drag road bash and scratch their moto anyhow. Me once I hear “used by female banker” I dey always tear race 440kmph jaa comot for that person front. |
quam9997:Make your way to Honda village, willoughby street, it’s at oyingbo near you over there. That’s your one stop shop for all Honda mechanical geniuses in Lagos |
pope191:This man below is that special doctor who you desperately need to see before you think the red light is green and walk into the junction and get knocked down by aboki okada men who will still beat you ontop instead of taking you to hospital. His name is doctor WHO

Pearl1910:Why is it that I always find this story of companies changing vehicles of their ogas as the reason for vehicle sales very amusing I swear it makes me laugh every time. Especially when the said vehicles that are being put up for sale were not bought brand new by the company. Everybody knows that if a company is purchasing vehicles for staff that it’s usually tear nylon. One of those cars for sale up there was not likely sold brand new in Nigeria as at the years it was being produced so how come? I’m speaking Specifically of the lexus. Unless you say the company gave their oga vehicle loan of which he can choose to buy tokumbo and pocket the balance I’d believe you. But anyhow sha happy sales ![]() cc IFHSR |
Pearl1910:I nor understand baba. Na say their company fold abi wetin happen? ![]() This one wey all the so called directors hold hand together dey sell their moto off |
