Olayetan:You’re indeed very lucky. Those ones you saw were robbers doing ‘industrial training’ The real ‘graduated’ robbers won’t have time to even start asking you to wind down. What you’d just hear is KpruaaAA glass flying everywhere and all over your body then a cold iron pushing the side of your head with like 2 accompanying slaps on your face. Nobody will tell you when you’d give them your wallet, keys and phones (even the ones you’re hiding under your seat) |
MASTAkiLLAh:You can create one by yourself. All you need is A length of oil pipe/hose (the same type and size with the one running from your pcv to valve cover) Two small pipes of similar diameter with your pcv hose fitting Weld the pipes into a small container (vacuumed) with one sticking further into the container than the other (one pipe should be shallow and one should run half way deep) Iron sponge (the type used in washing pots) that will be wrapped around the deeper running iron pipe inside the catch can And hooks/hangers or a way to mount the can somewhere convenient in your engine bay (as far away from any major heat source as possible) Also make sure the can you choose has a screw cover or you can weld a small tap/valve for emptying the contents out when it’s caught some oil. I e done it before. I used one of all those aluminum water bottles that office workers usually carry around. On an EOD engine it caught some oil over the course of an oci and I’d recommend it to keep your valve train and intake manifold sludge free. |
Op use the type gazzuzz recommended above first and observe the rate of consumption. I don’t understand our oil importer ogas on nairaland these days oh. You know many Nigerians are becoming aware of the goodness of synthetic fluids over conventional and the fact that most of these engines are oil burning monstrosities yet you won’t consider finding the synthetic 20w50 engine oils to import and sell. Why? ![]() Nowadays many Nigerian rebuilt engines or imported oil burners change from using synthetic 5w20/30 to use our conventional 20w50 oils in the market which are of very questionable qualities. Majority of imported Toyota (and other) vehicles are oil guzzlers from factory but clean inside and without sludge. Don’t you know owners will prefer using the synthetic 20w50 to reduce/eliminate oil consumption, run longer oil change intervals and yet keep their engines clean? Synthetic 20w50 doesn’t form sludge and it’s good for 5,000 miles of use (and more) Why not import this spec of fluid and sell in our local market? You’d be surprised at the amount of patronage you’d be receiving if you try this venture just once and advertise here on nairaland. |
EDUECO:A Peugeot 406 without any electronic issues is a very splendid machine especially for long distance travels and comfort. but be aware that it has various engine types so ask which is in its bay before you purchase it. |
davessales039:NO It’s not normal. When you start the engine it should idle as high as 1.5k-1.8k rpm and gradually drop to between 750-800rpm when the vehicle is warmed up. When you put your ac on it should dip to like 650-700rpm and immediately climb back up to the initial 750-800rpm and hold steady. Same with when you put the gear in D with your foot on the brakes. While you’re turning your power steering either left or right the idle from 750-800rpm should climb to 850-900rpm and immediately drop back down to the initial 750-800rpm and hold steady as well. That is the proper idling sequence for the EOD that hasn’t been abused. |
CjEmmar:Yes that’s the right fluid. I hope it’s the real one you used and not a fake because there’s a lot of those going around. Driving around with a high rpm will definitely make your vehicle overheat. If you’re going up and down with your idle above 1k rpms you’re at a risk of it overheating especially if your thermostat is installed and functioning properly. Check why your rpm is high and checkmate it. It might either be a vacuum leak (air getting into your intake via a torn hose) or your iacv valve on your throttle body (injector mouth) is malfunctioning. |
petrusevents:Apart from the gearbox valve body (which can get blocked by debris) and the clutch packs (fiber) your gearbox solenoids too can cause drivability issues whenever they develop electrical problems or they get clogged due to bad fluid. In the picture below all the gearbox solenoids and switches for the EOD 4 plugs is shown. The BIG switch is AT CLUTCH PRESSURE SOLENOIDS VALVES B & C (one unit with two heads/wire plugs on the front of the gearbox facing the cooling fan) I put a picture of the switch too while the SMALL switch is AT CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID A (single unit on top of the gearbox directly under the battery tray) I also put a picture of this switch So if you scan your vehicle and any of the codes point to any one of these solenoids directly you can go shared and clean or change them to fix your problems.

EDUECO:When you say ‘long distance travel’ what exactly do you mean? That you want a private/personal vehicle for yourself because you travel long distances a lot for work or other reasons? Or you want to use it for transportation business? And if it’s for business is it going to be mainly for conveying passengers or cargo? |
Op for the whole 4 speakers in your vehicle to go bad at the same time it should give you serious cause for concern. If I were in your shoes I’d find out what exactly is killing my speakers one by one/at the same time before I splurge my hard earned money in purchasing new ones. |
EDUECO:1. What exactly do you want to use the vehicle for? 2. What is your maximum budget to purchase the vehicle? With the above information maybe I can get some names of popular vehicles you can see around with such engines. |
CjEmmar:Go to your mechanic and tell them to service your gearbox big switch. If it doesn’t work then change it. I hope you used the recommended fluid during change or else you have bigger issues. |
Op just ask for cars with iron engines. Those ones are easier to rebuild |
We have been battling the disappointments of both the apc and pdp since alone. these ones have gone to form ![]() this next regime will be very interesting indeed. Nigerians should try to get pvc’s and endeavor to come out on Election Day and vote for their leaders while hoping for a free and fair electing process. |

GreekDon:Truth is that your the 2008 Honda Accord wasn’t specified to use synthetic engine oil from the factory hence the low miles attributed to its oil change interval. Your driving style, distance and conditions also affect the oil change interval. People who use your type of vehicle for long distance interstate travels have their maintenance minders alerting them to an oil change after more than 6-7k miles between changes while those who use it for short drives have theirs alerting them to change between 3-4k miles. So from the above statistics I presume you seldom travel with your vehicle and you drive very short distances all the time on traffic congested routes. If so, then your maintenance minder is working well. If you’re using conventional oil then change whenever it alerts you to BUT if you’re using synthetic oil then you can stretch it to 5k miles. |
GreekDon:What is the year and model of your car? that model above has no preset factory oil change range. The miles driven, engine idle, stop and go traffic, hot and cold conditions work together in tandem with the vehicles ecu to determine its ideal oil change interval. Although some vehicles have preset alarms for oil changes though, but I can’t confirm if yours is among them without further information can i? Yes 3000miles is too low an oil change interval for fully synthetic fluid. 5000 miles is the universal safe mark and 4,500 miles for turbocharged GDI engine vehicles. |
quam9997:That’s right. Always remember to reset it after your mechanic has changed your fluid. Now start driving it from today and change it at exactly 35% for your next oil change. As a personal rule I don’t exceed the 20% mark on my oil life monitor. So since you’ve driven a bit since your last oil change then add the prior 15% that was showing in your dashboard to the 20% I usually do to make 35%. So in essence I’m advising you to change it at 35% for your next oil change and then change it at 20% for every other oil change to keep your engine happy and smart. Enjoy your ride. |
nitt:If you’ve rebuilt your k24a4 engine and it was done Right (it’s not smoking, has good compression and sound) then I’d advise you to buy the products I recommended earlier. First use the Liquimoly ceratec, it’s in a 300ml bottle contains high doses of boron which is an additive used in maintaining the strength of metal surfaces in your engine. It’s effects last for 30,000 kilometers so you will use just one bottle now and it’s properties will remain in your engine for years even after many oil changes. You should use it for just one oil change interval of 5,000 kilometers then drain it out. Be aware that the color of this product is cream so it will change your engine oils color too once it’s introduced into your engine. After running the ceratec for 5,000kms you should then use HALF a bottle (150ml) of the Liquimoly MoS2 oil treatment in your engine. This product contains high doses of molybdenum which is an additive that reduces friction between metal surfaces in your engine. You should use half a of it bottle for 5,000km for the other oil changes you’d do on your vehicle to keep it running smoothly and keeping your piston, rings and cylinder walls in top shape. Be aware that mos2 has a dark grey color so don’t be alarmed if it’s introduction into your engine oil changes it’s color to a dark one. Good luck and enjoy your rebuild |
quam9997:Are you sure your oil life monitor was reset after your last oil change? If it was indeed reset then I hope you recorded the total amount of miles/kilometers you have driven for it to go from 100% to the current 15% today, how much did you drive? |
ThatIgboBoy:It’s not accurate using a multimeter to generally check if sensors are good. Most sensors operate between a specific range and if it’s off that range by even one volt it’s spoilt. Concerning your emissions problems you can’t just rule out your oxygen sensors or catalyst just like that. Even a slightly smoking engine can trigger emissions codes on vehicles while every system is working well. Get a scan to pinpoint your problems. |
nitt:What parts of your engine did you rebuild before? What and what parts were changed? I personally recommend any one of the below engine oil additives for any vehicle that is experiencing leaks or smoking. Liquimoly Ceratec or Liquimoly Mos2. You can get them online on Jumia/Konga or you can go to oyingbo or ladino in Lagos to buy any of them.
|
petrusevents:No I can’t recommend anyone. But if you locate a gearbox specialist/repairer in any major auto parts market or garage around you and direct them on exactly what to do they will be able to do the work for you. |
Bigsunny01:As I said, it’s your sensors that’s your problem. Change them with good units and your problems will disappear |
ThatIgboBoy:Your TPMS module has issues, it’s for monitoring your tyre pressures on all four wheels Your abs system has an issue, might be sensors Your daylight running light is working well Scan your car to pinpoint your issue |
Bigsunny01:Scan your car |
nitt:Why do you want to add the oil treatment? Is it still smoking a even a little even after the rebuild? What type of engine is in the bay? |
