ibnquasale: You don vex be that oooo..... Do u knw anything abt security in relation to databases? If u do, then, u won't talk like thisi would lecture you on this topic and hand you a master's degree! Those databases are bn monitored by the Federal and not states. Those were some of the ideas behind census my brother. Let him face his job, and liase with d federal on security, if he has d mind of using the database to solve crime related problems.... Tell me about a state that is empowered to do all this in any part of d world... Haba, sebi u dey watch films, why do u think states hands off security matters when federal has interest in it....i can't stand this ignorance - jeeez, you people need to leave your cocoon! Other countries and not individual statesyou mean you have never heard of state-issued ID cards? Christ - you need some exposure..... |
shymexx: Anyone against this policy should have his, or her head examined...nigerians are like swines in the swamp...... no matter how you try to scrub them off the dirt, they still crave the murky waters..... shymmex, there's no place like home....... ![]() |
ibnquasale: defeatist idealism indeed.... Can u imagine how u are thinking? An individual steals state money, some idiots are creating more means of doing so for him, and You are telling me to forget abt that.... I am so disappointed at ur level of thinking... It everyone steals like tinubu and every other person thinks like u, then this nation is totally deaddo you have any concrete proof that tinubu has been stealing your money or this is one of those beer parlour conjectures? i don't deal with conjectures but facts.....if you are strongly convinced tinubu has been stealing from lagos and he's making the lives of lagosians miserable then take him to court - this is why you have a judicial process in the country! |
ibnquasale: what do u know abt databases? No where in d world do u see a single state handling that... Tinubu tried it doing d last census, and didnt proved experts like us wrong, cos, nothing came out of it (he used it as a basis for establishing more local government which obj rejected)what do i know about databases? i can process all the enzymes in your body with laplace transforms and code the product into a database....who do you think you are talking to? a politically bias state like lagos (i dont want to politicized this issue) handling d database of persons would definitely take advantage of others....you can't be serious.... so how do you intend to tackle crime effectively if there's no database for the law enforcers to work with? have you ever asked yourself why policing in the developed world is very easy? look no further than the database..... go to a crime scene, process it, look for clues - get fingerprint sample and dna sample....run it in the lab, find a match.....and the culprit is found effortlessly! because of this same database, his last known address is also known.....within few days, the culprit is already behind bars. there's no juju - no guess work! Baby mama:if he's been in lagos all his life then there has to be a document somewhere that would be linked to him - even if it means going back to his primary school to get his testimonial...stop this hide and seek tactics to knock down a positive step - other african countries have tried this exercise and it's worked for them - why should nigeria be different? why should i even care about an agbero whether he should be in lagos or not? people who don't have anything to show they have been in lagos all their lives should be feared if anything - it means they can commit any sort of crime and disappear into the thin air................i hope the people in this category get found out and chased out of the state - they offer nothing to the state! |
Baby mama: Land phone?if he doesn't have it, then he should not be in lagos.... area boy does not have any document to show he has been in lagos? no hospital record? no birth/death record? no police record? no tenancy agreement? no marriage certificate? no driving license? no passport? no bank account? no association? no thrift record? nothing with his name even if its related to wife, kids, next of kin? nigga please.... these are the kind of people the exercise is trying to isolate and chase out of lagos! |
ibnquasale: did u just say estimation, are u a Nigerian, then U must be kidding me.... I am still waiting for the true estimated of any state in this country.... No one is frowning staying taxes, the question we are asking is that, what tangible thing av u dine with d ones we've bn paying?maybe this new process would provide the answer to the estimated population of lagos state......as per the taxes, it's an unfortunate situation. lagosians don't pay taxes, the government pay the taxes. a situation where a civil servant pays 20% tax but gazumps thrice his wages by using ghost workers is not helping anyone....think about it, who is paying who? Though we are not ignorant of d fact that Oga tin.ubu must collect him regular cut from awa taxes.... Or is it a crime to ask question if u aint my money to good use, but awa governor is all-knowing....with your defeatist idealism, you won't get anywhere.... just do your due diligence and forget about what tinubu does with your taxes! |
ibnquasale: this country won't move forward until some ediots stop comparing lagos with some working cities in europe and America. Why do we like putting d cart before the horse? There are plenty issues begging for attention, but our 'all knowing' governor won't do anything abt them.... I pity the future of Lagos with the way this man takes unilateral decisions....please - enlighten me on the pressing issues that are more important than this process.... what's more important the security of lagosians? with a reliable database, what is needed in lagos would be met instead of guesswork......we don't know how many people stay on your street as we speak - how would the government know the number of power transformers needed on your street? shymexx: The world left Nigeria behind time ago, that's why I question the Nigerian mentality sometimes on this forum... It seems most Nigerians are allergic to change, and they love the status quo... Perhaps, it's because the average Nigerian has been messed up physically, spiritually, and psychologically that everyone is scared of the unknown... It's just sickening!don't mind nigerians..... nothing excites them more than carrying different colours of blackberry phones......let fashola promise a blackberry bold smartphone for every applicant who registers before christmas - everyone would fall in line asap! |
ibnquasale: Lagos state govt has proven beyond doubt that they can't be trust with anything. I won't be surprised if this selfish idea is to raise taxes.... Most of their policies are anti-people and some funny ediot wud continue to praise them.and what is wrong in paying taxes? why do nigerians frown at paying taxes? where do you want your state government to cough out the money to maintain basic amenities? from the stratosphere? How do u intend to use this to better the life of lagosians, when the real motive is for illegal revenue generation. For, his dogs on nairaland who might want to bark at me; i am seasoned statistician and data analyst, so, i know rhat this govt won't use the information to better the life of d masses but for political reasons....lmao @ illegal revenue generation....... I am a lagosians, a yoruba, an awori with a difference who has nothing against lagos, but just allergic to stu.pid, and insensitive governance like that of fa.sholathe population explosion is the reason it appears the government is insensitive! unfortunately, the perks cannot go round - the new estimate of the lagos population is 21 million heads! if that statistic is correct, lagos is the most populated city in the world..... pa charles: We dey shout naija no wan develop!! Naija no wan develop!!nigerians are always reluctant and doubtful - these same people would travel and respect the rules and regulations of the other countries they visit but they would rebel against their own government! having a state resident's ID card is a great step in the right direction! |
shymexx: I concur!countries like gambia, zimbabwe, south africa have already implemented this process and nigeria(the |
Baby mama: And if I have come to Lagos stay,I am still not a resident. At what point after I get off a Chisco bus do i become a resident based on your earlier definitioni don't know why this theory is so ambiguous to some people... you either decide if you want to stay in lagos or not.....if you are visiting, you don't need the ID card, if you want to stay in lagos, then you need the ID card. now, how do you show proof of address? utility bills in your name is a proof! land phone is a proof of address..... if all those fail, car registration number is a proof, bank statement is a proof, birth certificate of your children is a proof, marriage certificate is a proof, dstv document is a proof, your nigerian passport is a proof, school certificate is a proof, a copy of your tenancy agreement is a proof! if you don't have any of this then something is fishy! |
shymexx: - Congestion charge on the Island..there's council tax in lagos(i think) but its called tenement rate! congestion charge is very necessary in lagos island - if you drive in the congestion zone, N10,000 flat! failure to pay that day and the value increases until lastma tracks down the car and impound it. all those yahoo boys who drive aimlessly around the island to show off their newly bought 2nd hand cars and build up needless traffic would stay put in the suburbs.... road tax and MOT should also be introduced and enforced religiously.....only the people who can afford to stay in lagos should be in lagos.......i want to stay near buckingham palace too but i cannot afford £10,000 per week to rent a flat there.....same principle should apply in lagos! |
CuntDestroyer: when has Lagos state supplied a transformer? get real dude. your problem is in your raceshut up, please! don't address me with your brainless remarks and idiotic rants - find someone else to play with! i have a zero tolerance for simpletons of your ilk! |
geeez: Ghost workers ke? Lagos I can confidently say has no ghost workers, maybe ghost residentsthe ghost residents overloading the power transformers and the other amenities in the state! governor fashola is too lenient - there are tough measures he can introduce that would decongest lagos......the smallest state in land size is the most populous - very bizarre! Baby mama: So I get off a Chisco bus to attend interviews in Lagos while crashing at my uncle's place, or become an apprentice seamstress for my madam I am now a resident?you are not a resident if you get off a chisco bus - you are a visitor! of course, to get the resident ID card, a proof of address would be required - an utility bill with a lagos address or a bank statement in our name would tell us if you are staying in lagos or you are an alien! i don't expect an onitsha resident coming to lagos for the first time to have a bank statement of a lagos bank, do you? |
geeez: It's just one out of many things I've listedit would also reduce the government wage bill on ghost workers.....police were able to reduce wages from N1.5billion per month to N500 million just because a biometric exercise was deployed! imagine what would be found out in other federal ministries in lagos.......... |
shymexx: Go look for your white mother, you half-human half-reptilian bred!don't feed the troll - he must be one of seun's spambot set to purpose to infuriate members to drive traffic! ignore the troll abeg..... |
shymexx: Those people are a waste of space...i hate going there...... the people behind the counter are so unruly - one would think living in a civilised society would have changed those tools but na lie.....they have slow thought process, loud, shoddy with their jobs and no regard for applicants at all......the nigerian ambassador to the uk should be tied to a stake and flogged for allowing such rubbish! |
manny4life: Though this is a good initiative, I just think they're putting the car before the horse. Oh well, good luck to them, a database with 20million + record should not be tampered with. Did I forget to say that it will be super expensive, who will bear the cost? If Fashola's issue is with immigration, use the old trick in the book which he's already doing - TAXES to kill the citizens. I can bet you that the moment Lagos is 10x worse than it is, you will population begin to decline.immigration cannot be tackled - security is the target! fashola cannot control who comes into lagos - but he can make lagos unbearable for the immigrants in such a way that they would lose the appetite to stay in lagos! fashola should up the ante - make 80% of lagos roads a congestion zone.....build more toll plazas, make the resident's ID card compulsory or introduce incentives to having one.....for instance, people with the IDs get 10% discount on their transport fare or free toll till 2015. ![]() |
Lusola15: I get atlest 5 to 9 scam text messages every month hw do u think dey get pple number. Am sure some as called u tell u won glo dis mtn dt etc. And u shuld pay.that happens everywhere in the world - spam mails and scam calls are rife even in the developed countries but the pros outweigh the cons. planes can crash means we should be trekking to france from nigeria? do you want to go back to the old nitel lines because you receive scam calls 12 times a day? shymexx: Bwahahahahahahahthey were hoping to squeeze money out of you - the nigerian house is the most useless organisation in europe! i am writing an article on that place for publication by christmas! hopefully, jonathan and the exterior minister would see it and sack our ambassador here - how they can continue to ignore the shoddy services rendered in that place is cringeworthy! the customer service is the poorest i have experienced since i was born! |
Lusola15: I agree with u but its still possible for some one to steal ur IDthe link below is one example why this biometric exercise should be encouraged... https://www.nairaland.com/825668/biometrics-exercise-police-brought-wage Prof Corruption: Exactly. If implemented nationally, it would be helpful in many ways-population, security, immigration, taxation, planning and allocation of resources , minimize rigging in elections, etc. The benefits are way too many.i don't think jonathan is that astute - he's too passive for my liking! it's a crying shame that we don't have a central database in 2012.....anyone can claim to be anyone - this is why fraud is so easy to commit in that country! jonathan can mandate every state governor to start this exercise - if the exercise can only capture 40 million nigerians out of the 160 million then its a good start......police and other law enforcement agents can then take it from there. anyone arrested must submit his fingerprints by law(the system would store their biometrics and the name given at the time of their arrest)! within 3 yrs, the number would rise to about 100 million! |
Prof Corruption: Fasola appears to be the only governor thinking in Nigeria. All states should endeavor to register residents into a database for security, planning and immigration purposes among others. We ll soon know the actual population of Nigeria, we ll soon be voting in an election where ballot box can not be snatched, we ll soon get a Nigeria where if you commit crime, your finger print ll reveal your identity. Step by step, inch an inch, Lagos is moving, setting the pace for others to follow.until there's a database in place in lagos to identify who is who - the crime rate would continue to soar! now let's see if those bumbling oafish armed robbers would be smart enough not to leave clues in the crime scene.....whether rapïsts would still be leaving their fluids in the victims, etc. this exercise should be commended - if jonathan has any common sense at all, this should be a national exercise shymexx: No one has explained how the legal and illegal status would be determined...there's no legal or illegal aspect in this issue - after all, people from the other states would visit lagos on tourism or to see family members.....the people harping on illegal immigrant angle are just looking for excuses as usual! Are the legal residents the indigenes, those born and raised in Lagos, those who have lived in Lagos for a period of time, and house owners in Lagos??only people living in lagos would carry these cards - yorubas, igbos, hausas, europeans, indians, etc. it's just to identify who is who - nothing to do with illegal or legal! BTW, the database thingy is long overdue and a brilliant idea... However, I'm confused about the resident status...there's no confusion - if you stay in lagos, you are a resident and you would qualify to have one regardless of where you come from! in a stop and search scenario, you could be required to produce your ID.......if you don't have one, then be ready to explain why you don't carry one...... |
^^ So would you do if wifey is incapacitated or has travelled? You gonna feed your kids with junk / fast foods??
if my wifey travels - then a short trip to eko restaurant is all i need a big plastic container of stew with assorted meat for a week is less than £30. freeze it and take portion by portion to microwave. boil some rice and its happy days! heck - there are about 15 chinese restaurants around me - order and eat! why kill myself in the kitchen? inhale spicy steam, have my eyes in tears, cough and sneeze all because of a week's stew? much ado about nothing! |
Lusola15: In the security world they say fear the unknown.what is anyone going to do with your biometrics? can anyone claim your fingerprint or your identikit? it's just going to be your name, date of birth, address, etc.....there would be a computer chip that would recognise you when the card gets swiped - that is all! why are you not worried the information you provided @ the passport office to get your nigerian passport could get into the wrong hands? i tire for nigerians and their excuses. this resident's ID is going to stop a lot of fraudulent activities and impersonation that is rife in lagos state..... as it is now, i can forge a cheque in your signature and withdraw money from your account - with a biometric card, it would be difficult! |
^^ 66.667%. You need to up your game Oga.
up my game and learn how to cook? i'm too old for that......definitely, i would help in the kitchen to cut tough pieces of meat and make myself useful here and there - but the actual cooking is not my forte! |
CuntDestroyer: lie! there is an existing National ID. CARD system in place, A Biometric passport system and a fully integrated driver's liscense system. Even in the states, where a full republic sysytem exists you dont see people carrying New York ID'S.the national ID card has biometrics? are you kidding me? that nonsense ID card that looks like a video club card? people won't carry new york IDs in the big apple because there's a central database already in place.....there's nothing in lagos to identify who is who.....in 2012, it's shameful! the fashola idea is not 100% perfect but it's a good start! VOTE AGAINST ACN.keep calm and stop typing in big font... |
safarigirl: Why start something that will die off in good time? Welcome to Nigeria, where such stewpidity doesn't last. What will happen when Fashola leaves power? New Government, new rules, old things will be passed away. How many people will be registered? Na those omo nile and agbero boys na im wan get ID? Or the old, withered grandfathers? Abi the buka women? Fashola should be reasonable, Lagos isn't made up of just Ikoyi, Lekki and V.I areas, so his attempt at 'modernization' will fail like the okada banning will........all in good timeif all those omo onile and agberos can register to vote, own bank cards, own mobile phones then getting a resident's ID shouldn't be a problem! i back this idea 100%. if another government comes in, they would continue where fashola stopped! we all complain nigeria have no central database to identify culprits when criminal activities are committed. a man has stepped up to the plate to start acquiring data and you people are shouting him down - what is wrong with nigerians? why are you people reluctant to positive changes? is this a tribal issue or a security issue? damned if the government proffers solutions, damned if they don't!!! |
What a thread! Coogar, d'you know how to cook, clean & look after a baby??
cook? noclean? yes look after my baby? yes |
dayokanu: Makelele was a specialist a DM who knew how to break up play more than anyone in the game.but thats where Makeleles usefulness ended. Going forward, One of the key jobs of a midfielder, Makelele was beyond useless at itthis is why he's a defensive midfielder - he must sit in front of his defence and form a back three when the fullbacks go on a rampage! this is why he's the best in the business....lampard is a jack of all trade, master of none! Fiorentino perez was quoted to have said Makelele is one of the most useless players when you are in possesiona defensive midfielders job requires passing and scoring? of course - isn't busquets the highest goal scorer for barcelona and spain? you talk too much shyte for an adult...the statement florentino perez made about makelele has been haunting him for the last 10 years. he's only a boardroom expert, he knows nothing about team balance.......till today, madridstas have not truly forgiven florentino perez for selling makelele....mr perez completely misread the role of a defensive midfielder - you now have the likes of carrick, busquets, lucas, mikel trying to be like claude.....dayo, go to bed! see what a master of the game thought of makelele....... I think Claude has this kind of gift – he's been the best player in the team for years but people just don't notice him, don't notice what he does. But you ask anyone at Real Madrid during the years we were talking about and they will tell you he was the best player at Real. We all knew, the players all knew he was the most important. The loss of Makélelé was the beginning of the end for Los Galacticos… You can see that it was also the beginning of a new dawn for Chelsea. He was the base, the key and I think he is the same to Chelsea now. Si IMO Lampard was more influential than Makelele because he did everything a midfielder was supposed to do, tackle, press, assist and scorelampard tackled and pressed who? must you chat nonsense to back a feeble point? makelele was so good, football pundits all over the world name a role after him - and you dare compare an overrated english blob to a supremely talented player like makelele....... After Makelele’s sale and Madrid’s purchase of David Beckham, the then world’s best player(Zidane) went on to say – ‘’Why put another layer of gold paint on the Bentley when you are losing the entire engine?’’ |
armyofone: well, you can be replaced w/ that machine/electric thomas they sell at the mallbut i have been told by several women it doesn't feel the same... first off, you risk copping carpal tunnel syndrome on your wrist bone with your machine....your machine has no cumshots.....hell, your machine won't provide that heat/warmth the body contact of a male specie would provide.......nothing can replace a man in the bedroom - cartilage is different from plastic..... armyofone - you lose! ![]() |
armyofone: I'm begining to loathe cooking nigerian meals. too much work. Thank God I moved the wedding datefrozen egg and akamu isn't regular sex - you lose! ![]() |
dayokanu: Bring Stoke and lets see how they would fare vs Barcelonaceltic were beaten by athletico last season but see what they did to barcelona....these teams set a different approach when clashing with the super powers? how many big teams have won @ the britannia in recent times? teams like newcastle, sunderland, west brom have a better chance of recording victories there than chelsea, arsenal or man city! if wanyama can rapë barcelona, crouch and walters would murder them! |

SailorXY: *On A Side Note*lined up to replace nani in january should nani get sold.... SailorXY: The Matt Hummels i've seen on a few occasion is no where near bad in the air, even at that, he is 23, got goals in him {not just from setpieces}. There will be adaptation period of course {Evra & Vidic had torrid early days in United}. If any young defender is close to replacing Vidic, then Hummels it is. *English guys have a way of making Heskey look like van Nistelrooy*i prefer english defenders......only Italians defend better than english players on the continent! hummels is a very good defender but it might take him years to adapt to the rory delap antics......see how long it's taking de gea to deal with aerial incursions.....all his years in spain, he's never had to deal with such rubbish! |
