From the excerpt above, this guy categorically inferred that they carry out same functions.

The other parts of his write-up which seem to be the only area u were able to comprehend was just explaining to the OP the basis of having 'a 2-body federal legislature' doing almost same thing.

It is nice response, I gained from it. If you are teachable, i'm sure you would have learnt one or two things from it as well.

He answered the OP that they carry out virtually same functions and then went further to explain to the OP why this duplication seems necessary.

The way and manner you wrote your jargons clearly shows you had a distorted basic education.

Just check out the front page to see how the "so called" intellectuals on this forum are all in agreement that he must be able to speak Yoruba to be a governor.

Please tell me why that should be the case on any level?

Is fluency in Yoruba language now needed to provide clean high pressure water to homes?

Is fluency in Yoruba language now needed to provide electricity to homes?

Is fluency in Yoruba language now needed to providde high quality education and security to the denizens of the state?

I repeat, Naija is fvked when the majority, even those that are educated, continue to reason along tribal lines.

Now we're getting to the issues. Correct me if i'm wrong isn't there a commission for culture and tradition in Lagos just like it is in other states. A governor is not meant to know everything and that's why he has commissioners and advisers who are familiar with particular sectors. As a matter of fact, it's the local governments that are supposed to be the carriers of tradition.

The official language of the US is English, so there's no way Obama could have qualified without knowing how to speak English. On the contrary, Yoruba is not an official language in Lagos or anywhere in Nigeria.

If you claimed to have lived in a place for over 4 decades and cant speak the language then you are not part of that place. you are just an alien resident. That is why residency is different from citizenship and you have to demonstrate you have ties and understand the ways of life of a place you migrate to before you can be a citizen.

No one is questioning his ability to govern, But how can you be familiar with a place and cant speak a simple sentence in the language of the same place? So how is he familiar exactly? You cant be out of touch with the majority of your electorates and expect to get their votes.

Simply put, majority of igbos in Lagos only STAY in Lagos. They don't LIVE in Lagos.

You're from anambra, you live in Mazamaza, attend Assemblies of God, have a shop in Alaba, have no single Yoruba/non-igbo acquaintance...You're no Lagosian my dear.


Note: This concept applies everywhere in the world. Many immigrants merely stay in their host countries, they don't live there.

This largely explains why after more than 2 decades in Lagos/Ekiti/Ijebu-igbo, an igbo/Hausa/Edo person still can't communicate in their host community's language.
