freshdude: yes u can. GRE is not required as pre-requisite for most canadian schools. they are gonna admit u without GRE. but i always advice graduate students to write to write GRE. if ur GRE result is good, it can do wonders for you in terms of funding.
Ok, I wanted to find out, since am going in for post graduate diploma, but can I write GRE der yl also doing my program, so I can ease my transition into an msc thesis-based program after my 1year PGD?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by cris83: 8:17pm On Nov 13, 2012

[quote author=mercylicious]Regina is quite competitive but I still got admisn with less qualificatn than ur in engineering too. I didn't submit any English language test.
I'll advise u to apply for taught masters cos u might never get research masters coming from Nigeria.
We may have to get Nigerian student of good academic standing to speak to a lecturer on ur behalf.
Pm for contact, specify its u on the pm.

@mercylicious..if i may ask, which course r u going in for @ regina n which is better; research or nun research

mercylicious: @cris83,
If I were in ur shoes, ill try and get an advanced diploma in geology.
Oil sector in canada is booming. Going for HOUR and still coming back to geology to me is a waste of resources.
If u finally decide to go for geology, don't go too far from calgary. Any college in calgary and d neighbouring province will do.
thats d issue. I have been searching for a college dat offers postgraduate diploma in geology, n i have not found, hence d change. If u no any, please let m know

@ mr siga, i am so grateful for all the advice u have been giving here with regards to seeking permanent residence in canada. Please i would like ur opinion. I hav a bsc in geology but i want to see if i can study human resource management as a post graduate diploma since i graduated wit a second class lower division. I would very much like to build a career in dat aspect and maybe later go back for a full masters program in geology. Is this a wise decision?. also, will i be able to get a work permit after i obtain a post graduate diploma?. human resource management is in almost every organisation, gence my decision to delve into it. As a science-based graduate, can i be able to get admission into a suitable college in canada?. Any advice rendered will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

i have been trying to get a hold of a supervisor@
MUN, but to no avail, so i have to try another
university as well usask, but i need to ask please.
Did u include any of you're documents when
emailing the supervisor?. Umanitoba is on the
high side for me in terms of cost....
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by cris83: 8:43am On Oct 14, 2012
earthgreeners: @Freshdude

I dnt know much about the coop program, but Im sure they wld come with extra fees...
I applied for research based courses, and Im feeling lucky with the supervisor aspect except for MUN ... I got potential supervisor in usask and umanitoba (both female professors). My sponsor is my brother(s).

Some unis will expect u to gain admission before gettin a supervisor and Most would expect u to @ least be in rapport with one of their faculty members prior to admission.

have u completed ur application with all the 3 universities?

earthgreeners: You are right. it's best to contact the admission office
your reply is very much appreciated. i finished from unibadan and i can tell u, ui grading system is still the highest in nigeria cos first class starts from 6.0 to 7.0..i can say my result in the final tow years in school was very much ok, but as me dey talk, i cant say wat these canadian folks would think about that, but i believe that i can get a school dat will accept me for a masters program.
i will send a mail to the school to know whats up...thanks

people of this good forum, am greeting u all. i sent a mail to Memorial University, Newfoundland asking about enquiries and so far, they mailed back giving me loz of information on how to apply at their university for graduate studies. now one of the items highlited was that to apply, its best to send a mail to a prospective supervisor, telling him why i want to study at the department and wat are my aims after i successfully complete the program.
Now so far, the graduate school advised that this is the best option cos it wil enable the supervisor know if he is taking any new students in the fall of 2013, as compared to the normal procedure of applying directly without going through a supervisor. i have sent mails to two professors at the geology department at MUN, but for a month now, no one has replied me.
i am asking for advise here from u peeps, should i go ahead and apply through the normal way?. bear in mind that i have a B.sc in geology, second class lower division. your recommendations will be greatly appreciated. another school i have in mind to attend is the University of Saskatchewan. thank you all.

Good day nairalanders. please i need your honest advice on applying to universities in Canada. Am tired of these agencies telling me that i cant gain admission into a university in Canada with 2:2, rather i must go through PGD, which i feel is not ideal for me. Its not possible for all universities to reject applicants with a 2:2 degree although i do know that applications are highly competitive but if God said you go get that application, nobody can stop it.

wat am asking is can you guys clarify this for me and also if anyone can give me the name(s) of relatively affordable universities in Canada that has a high probability of accepting me into a masters program. I studied Geology and i really want to pursue a postgraduate degree and if possible up to the PH.D level.

thank you very much.

wip7: All necessary information you need is written on CIU website, read more here http://www.ciu.edu.tr/english/kayit_grad.htm , it will be advisable for you to gather the information yourself since you are the applicant, if i help you gather it then what will you be doing at home? just reading the gathered info? If you have sponsor that is guaranteed i will advise you to study such related program with middle east technical university.
thanks, but i am not sitting at home doing nothing. I am a working guy trying to make a living in the busiest state in nigeria. With regards to a sponsor, i believe i do a sponsor but i must convince my sponsor what are my future plans after getting my masters degree. Now, can u please enlighten me on why you think METU is a more preferable university to cyprus international university. Also i think this same METU has two main campuses as the other is called METU-Nothern Cyprus Campus. I went through the websites and discovered the programs are different as wellas the name. I may be wrong but do clarify please.
