This is where the federal government comes in to assist them .. but unfortunately, The government of the day is irresponsible.
The federal government is still waiting for innoson to produce prototype. grin

A whole automaker.

The Japan of Africa.

Such a shame the local leadership at the federal and state level is too poor.

I’m no longer against you guys argument. However, instead of waiting for the FG to provide N4b to Innoson for the ventilators, we can as well encourage the five south east governors to contribute N800m each for the production. Once Innoson delivers on the ventilators, they will be used in hospitals all over the south east. Pessimistic minds like us will be charged through our noses if we ever need to use them in your region. That’s a better proposition, don’t you think?
You are just a bigot.

Mr 95% import.

One of the first things smart industrialists/producers/investors do before production is to first identify the condummers (markets) of their products .

It's Innoson's responsibility to first identify the market.

Are ventilators only used to manage COVID-19 patients?
The answer is NO.

Will their be demand for ventilators after the pandemic?
The answer is YES
Why wasnt there demand before the pandemic?

Don't forget China is still there. Once pandemic goes, they would start producing for export once again.

If you don't have your market sealed tight by way of contractual agreement, you are done for.

If I am innoson, I would take the risk, produce, and charge the govt heavily per unit.

No look face at all.

Though govt may tax the living daylights out of him.

CoolAmbience:
I am trying to make sense of your post.

If Innoson really means to help, by now we should have had tens of his ventilators being tested.

He is an entrepreneur, he should know better.

No responsible government would like to be seen as being at the mercy of anyone, firm or group.

This is not to say that government cannot support critical private initiatives and ventures.
The same govt that have repeatedly said publicly that Nigeria is waiting on dangote refinery for improvement in that sector.

You don't know what you are talking about.

CoolAmbience:
I am from Anambra state.

No one should give Innoson a dime for ventilators.

If he is serious, by now he would have made and distributed prototypes and samples to relevant institutions to attract government's attention in view of imminent large orders and patronage.
Ventilators is not his core business.

If he doesn't produce, he won't lose anything.

This huge demand for ventilators is unsustainable.

I won't touch it without govt patronage.

There must be a contract to supply all the hospitals in Nigeria with at least 50 ventilators for me to even touch it.
Politics › Re: Bashir Ahmad's Response To Innoson On Ventilator Offer by CSTR2: 12:55pm On Apr 04, 2020
Trump had to use the defence production act to force companies like Ford in America to produce health related materials.

Here, we have a producer in Nigeria willing to try, but govt wants him to produce prototype.

Una go wait tire.
America is already hijacking all the ventilators in the world.

Just pray we don't need them.

Dyson was never interested in making ventilators till they were consulted. It was after they were consulted that they designed the new Covent ventilators. This will still be tested to ensure it meets requirements before they are used. The UK has already placed other for 10,000 and this is the first of the kind of ventilators. Which might or might not meet requirements. But they are willing to take the chance with a local company.
Soon Dyson would become a major exporter of ventilators, creating jobs and pumping billions in pounds to the British government.

And Nigerian govt would be there wondering why the UK is rich.

The end of western alliance. Things will never be the same again until Trump leaves office.

But what cant we have one pharmaceutical company that can produce certified N95 masks.?

It doesn't look too complex and would be profitable.
I would have ventured into it, if the huge demand was not so inelastic.

It would be more profitable for the established pharm coys to do it as part of their chain of products.
Politics › Re: Bashir Ahmad's Response To Innoson On Ventilator Offer by CSTR2: 9:22am On Apr 04, 2020
unmask:
modify your Dyson story to the fact that Dyson produced a prototype, before orders were made..... I don't see why there is an issue here. If you can do it, produce at least one or two and the orders will fly in.

This is not tribalistic it is basic business. If not every company that assembles anything will ask the FG for 4bn to produce ventilators.

If he really can do it, he should produce a prototype and present to the FG. If it is rejected without concrete reasons only then can we begin to condemn them.

And he should act fast, because while he is waiting for the Govt, someone else is preparing a prototype
Innoson is not running away.

Taking a risk of 4 billion naira is not the worst way to spend money, compared to how much waste takes place everyday in govt.

Have you seen BUK’s ventilators?
Look before you leap. See before you conclude.
They don't know the enormity and importance of the project until God forbids, we have thousands of people that need ventilators to breathe and nobody to sell.

That is when they would know the difference between a producer and a researcher.
Politics › Re: Bashir Ahmad's Response To Innoson On Ventilator Offer by CSTR2: 9:13am On Apr 04, 2020
The only issue I see here is that innoson should not be too Nigeria centric.

Meet a foreign govt in west Africa, possibly Ghana or whoever.

Get a subsidised contract from them, produce for them and supply.

If Nigeria comes back to the table, charge them double.
The risk you took has to be compensated.

He doesn't need to enter Anambra to be informed. With the advent of the internet, it's much easier to get information on just about anything you want.
Dispute any of his facts with your own facts. Simple.
I know that everything he posted is factual, if you have contradictory facts then post them for us to read.
There is nothing on the internet that justifies his position.

Innoson manufactures the plastics, metal finishing, foam, and other things.

He imports the engines from the Japanese Mitsubishi like many car producers, and critical electrical components.

So how is it 95% imports?

Is Engines and wiring 95% of a car?

He is a product of bad belle.

You can't argue rationally because of your particular hatred for Buhari!!!!
Facts are facts.
Nigeria did not start in 1999. Nations don't become great in 16 years.

There was a time in this country where our only problem according to the head of state was what to spend money on.

Money was not a problem. Pdp was not existing then.

Like I told you earlier YES, Buhari created ALL the complicated problems we have in this country.

And he can control traffic in Port Harcourt from his office in Aso Rock.
Buhari governed in 1983-1984 and unleashed a recession.

Buhari was minister for petroleum under the most corrupt head of state in African history.

Buhari became president in 2015 and unleashed another recession.

Buhari has stamped his footprint in our history.

Nobody can lay a bigger claim than buhari about our present predicament.

It is due to inadequate health care funding is why we have poor pharmaeceutical companies that only produce blood tonic and arthemeter lumefantrine.

We can't even produce common HIV drugs locally.

100% correct but would they listen.

Buhari made a lot of promises in 2015 but when he got there he realised that the FG was broke and we only have just enough to pay salaries and there very little available for capital expenditure.

What has buhari done to increase our revenue base genuinely.?

What has buhari done with respect to over population, when half his votes came from almajiris.?

Dont be silly! The virus can not survive very long outside a human host. How long do you think it takes for masks from china to arrive nigeria?
Even that one you are rushing to go and buy where so you think its coming from? Does your country make anything? Please think before you open your big mouth!

Use your common sense and think. What would the government or chinese gain by infecting millions more of people? besides dont you think it wont come back to infect them? Please don't be foolish.
Let hope so.

There are some viruses buried in the polar ice caps and Siberia.
They are just there, dead.

Once they jump inside a human host, they become alive.

We are actually suffering from 16 years of PDP and 6 years of APC.

Foundation matters, sadly APC have come in at a time when afflictions seem to have remembered the world:

Such is life... still Government is a continuum thus the disses at this government remains valid
It was pdp that embezzled billions of dollars of the gulf war oil windfall , the money was so much that the ruling head of state said Nigeria's problem is not money but what to spend it on.

It was pdp that stole the billions of dollars Nigeria is getting back from various foreign countries?

It was pdp that governed in the wasted years of the 70s, and 80s?

Or you think Countries become developed in 16 years?
