asha90:Look again at your post and see how much share of prejudice you had in there. First, you claimed Saint Peter is ignorant of the amount involved and that the bank MD (errand boy of Peter) will take the unilateral decision to turn down the awoof Then you went further to say that the errand boy should be crucified where as the Kingpin should be discharged and acquitted. But in the case of other Criminals, you will want all members of the gang apprehended. I thought by now you should be ashamed of yourself and started recanting already all your previous posts eulogizing Mr Peter Obi as a Saint whose dwellings should not have been among Mortals |

asha90:Obi is not innoSaint. If you remember I appealed to all that are close associates of Obi to advise him to return just N100 Billion to Anambra State Government coffers that a time will come when most of the assets he stole will be confiscated by the Federal Government. I implored him to demonstrate his love for Anambra State if indeed any existed by not allowing Buhari to lay hold of that money, perhaps it will form part of the redevelopment of North East . Obi wouldn't listen because he considered himself a very clever being, he went about doling a paltry 1 million naira to primary schools in Anambra and Enugu States Imagine the name Obi would have made for himself if he had returned part of what he stole (including the money he received during Jonathan's campaign) to the State. Also, imagine where Anambra will be today in terms of development |

obayaya:What are you saying Mr Obi? If you had used the billions that came to the state during your 8 year tenure to start and complete those projects maybe Obiano will now be concerned with just building Agric settlement, paying salaries, beautification of the capitals. The opening up of Anambra East/West/ Anyamelum will go down in history as one the best initiatives of Obiano administration. It matters little if he takes loan to accelerate the development and kickstart the economic activities in that block Now you have farms, industries and oil facilities connected to the mainland. Investors lobbying to get a piece of the show at that arena Don't also forget that Obiano is also set at unveiling a brand new Awka city Tell one signature Project you started and completed in the State during your tenure, you were quick to initiate some road, mall and flyover constructions at the tail end of your administration and of course, you did, got your 10% from the mobilization fees and took off If you so love Anambra return just N20 billion to Anambra and see Awka brighten up in 6 months. Obiano is doing well and very soon the State will not be relying on Fed Allocation, however, only Ugu can't be cultivated and sold to generate $5 billion. It is not possible even if the whole of Anambra becomes a farmland for Ugu and the world consumes only made in Anambra Ugu. Not even rice can cultivated in Anambra can generate that per annum. I will really like to know how they arrived at that projection. 6 Likes 1 Share |

That can't be 1982 It's likely 1992, the use of 1975 and above model 504 for taxi could not have been that early. Remember it was an executive cars for top government workers It is just like saying Peugeot 406 2000 and above model is painted and used for taxi, commonly in 2008 Apart from the picture quality which is too sharp for a 1982 photo |

FreeGlobe: Well, that his interest is where the problem lay. A defeat of Umeh + Obiano + APGA will be disastrous for 2017 and you know that APC, having learnt to use harassments and corrupt Judges to achieve their aim or at least attempt to achieve that, It may not be a popularity contest after all That is y I'm suggesting it would be better Obiano left Umeh and Ekwunife to sort out themselves, he should focus more getting across all wards in the state, distribute appointments, do roads or APGA-government presence in those areas, I don't mean Willie is Working billboards. PDP is still very strong in the State, APGA does not yet own the political structure. |

Freeglobe happy new year, I still think Chief Victor Umeh will not defeat Uche Ekwunife, that woman is a grassroot mobilizer and has good political/legal advicers. All her moves are well planned and preemptive of opponent's actions. In fact, her decamping to APC gives her control of the supervisory agents of Government especially when it is clear that APC is not committed to providing a level playing ground for the contests. Take Bayelsa, Kogi and soon to Rivers, AKS, Ondo for e.g. Peter Obi will soon be invited by the EFCC to defend his share of the Dasuki bonanza, being a clever man he stole away to UK to pursue is it PhD, alternatively he would join APC to get a soft landing. I am sure the moment his name was listed as part of the beneficiaries of the Dasuki gate he jettisoned his initial gragra of I am saint Obi the grand patron of saving 75 billion naira for the future of Anambra which has been refuted by the Obiano's team. He has chosen in his best interest to remain silent since then Obiano will benefit nothing from APC, absolutely nothing, he already enjoys good relationship with the APC top men in the state. If I were him, I would simply allow Ekwunife and Umeh to sort out themselves in the rerun, go on vacation around that period, congratulate the winner afterwards. It is in the best interest of the State and Obiano that Madam Ekwunife returns to the Senate. Don't ask me how 1 Like |

It’s those people that burnt their rice farm. We have a committee that looks into such matter in Anambra. They should go and report the matter there.” This statement from Alhaji Gidado gat me thinking how can a Landlord go and report a matter of an aberrant tenant to another tenant. So Alhaji Siddiki will seat on his Judgement throne in Anambra on the day he desires to hear the case to declare to the complainants "it is not true, case closed, Next" |

I saw the roads about 3 months ago on ground and I don't think the life span will be more than a typical Mr Peter Obi road. Why not categorize the roads into 3 and relate the quality to the importance, estimated traffic for each. I thought Gov. Obiano would have reviewed that contract 1 Like |

I hope one day Valentine Obienyem will open up on the origin of this dressing and its effect on some segments of the Anambra people. Does it have any connection with Olumba Obu? The giving of grants to mission schools is not a bad idea in itself, corruption is everywhere. Politics / Re: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by Cuche: 11:20am On Nov 17, 2015 |
I am of the opinion that Anambra can borrow only when the reason for the borrowing justifies such. And the repayment plan should be drawn alongside the tender. E. g. Borrowing to accelerate the development in the agricultural sector, oil, gas and petrochemicals aren't a bad idea because these can service any loan in under 5 years But do we really have need for borrowing? I wrote on this thread sometime ago that as long as the regime of impunity in the tax, levies and IGR in the State is not jettisoned we shall continue to cry for funds in the midst of plenty. This a State where Mr Peter Obi was putting forward N500 million as IGR for close to 8 years while his tax collector friends/tax contractors were smiling home with billions in their pocket. To the extent that traders protested their continued payment of taxes What's difficult in making tax/levy collection transparent, ensuring that Government gets what it should get? A rough census of the number of shops and business in Anambra state gives an idea that if each shop pay about N3000( some pay monthly, some quarterly depending on the assessment), the state can make upto N3 Billion every month. If the civil service can't make the thing happen why not create a special agency for that and hire professionals to do the job. An Anambrarian did the magic in Lagos State, what stops us from hiring the same person to do much better in his home State. I am not happy that uptil this moment we have not been able to get this taxation issue right. It is not all about increasing the percentage of levies paid Mr Val Obienyem or whatever he is to Peter Obi should please shut up. You created the bait for Obiano and have been using Vanguard newspaper to orchestrate misguided opinions on these challenges 3 Likes |

TonyeBarcanista:What I don't know is if the figure of 185 billion naira is a true reflection of the debt status of the contracts Obi hurriedly entered just before the end of his tenure. I had expected Obiano to debunk that N75 Billion naira claim immediately on assumption of office but his sense of Judgement was be clouded by his gratitude to Obi for installing him Governor. Most of us knew from day one that there was no element of truth in that claim of leaving behind N75 Billion when the total cost of the contracts he entered into just from the 2013 budget alone was very close to that amount and he didn't pay upto 30% of the contracts to the contractors. Others were backlogs of uncompleted contracts from the previous years littered all over the state which Obiano chose to complete, these were liabilities. The bottom line is that Anambra did not take loans from banks as most States under Peter Obi which is commendable especially when he was not really interested in the infrastructural development. Had he taken bank loans the money may still not be accounted for 1 Like |
Politics / Re: Anambra State: As Obiano Goes Borrowing! by Cuche: 7:44pm On Nov 12, 2015 |
There is nothing wrong with borrowing to finance and accelerate the completion dates of strategic projects. And even initiating new ones, the earlier the state began to take shape, infrastructure wise the better for all of us. The development around Orient petroleum site, access roads to the place and other enablers to the smooth take off of the operations there is one of such projects that no sensible government will allow extended time due to paucity of funds The State Capital should look decent and tidy, investors want to see good road networks and working utilities. But the kind of Rochas Okorocha's borrowing must be discouraged, CBN at time banned him from borrowing because there were no defined objective to the loans. Compare that to Lagos State under Fashola |

NRIPRIEST:You're truly a paid and determined praise singer. Anambra State did not look like a place where Obi spent 20% of the the ecological funds he received. You are aware that the State got the highest sum in the federation during his tenure including a refund for the ones Ngige did half way. It was indeed a favor from Jonathan that Anambra received substantial sums for ecology. I particularly angry that of all the money Obi decided to divert for prosecuting elections in 2013, ecology funds were part of it. As it were, 1 in every 3 community in Anambra South and Central has an erosion site. I expected Obi to have tankled frontally Nanka and Ekwulobia sites without residue to the next government Stop this your Obi image polishing. He did not do much and I assume that at all you understand anything about governance you will know why Obiano is one of its kind. 2 Likes |

I thought we have challenged your claim of leaving behind 75 billion naira when you didn't tell us the liabilities you left with it. ionsman:I have avoided commenting on this EFCC this or that because I consider them a very unserious setup. There is no where in the Constitution that stated EFCC will only investigate a government official who is living far above his means or earnings when they gets a petition. It is the primary responsibility of the commission to search out corrupt practices, monitor financial transactions involved in by individual/agencies which contravene the law. It is good if they act promptly on petitions but their action must not be restricted to petitions. They are empowered to walk in to any establishment and demand a look at the books Mr, are you now saying that as public official one can be as reckless as he wants provided there is no insider who could obtain documents on that reckless spendings/or lootings for EFCC to act on. 4 Likes |
