Sometimes, I wonder if this Anambra South Senatorial seat is a birthright for the Ubas. Dr Ubah,( is he now a Professor ) of Political Sc dept UNN, I love that man 1999-2003
Dr Andy, a former assistant to OBJ (since 2007)

This PDP practice of Fielding more than one candidate for senatorial elections in Anambra needs to be stamped out. Why should both Mrs Okadigbo and Stella be campaigning for Anambra north senatorial seat under PDP? APGA needs to protest against this silly practice.
So you caught the game. It gives them an advantage because with two men each with a pool of supporters campaign side by side brings a larger number eventually under the same party. Even when a candidate is sidelined for another few days to the election , the likelihood that the supporters will remain with the party is very high
In 2013, the courts determined that the authentic Anambra PDP chapter was the one led by Ejike Oguebego following which his faction fielded the candidate for the guber. Ken Emeakayi's faction was declared illegal
Now again the same suit is resurfacing. Is that how our Judiciary operates? Suits like that should not even be entertained, but I see it is pure business for some people

The less than 15% lie or mistake by you have done the job. How can write such a thing and expect informed people to read on. The voters turnout in that election was about 27%. Just add the result of the parties and divide by 1.8m times 100..
@Gamechanger. My 15% wasn't an oversight. Let me explain
On sight estimation of the figures. Obiano had about 180,000 Ngige and Nwoye got about 90,000 each, Ubah got about 40,000. For my eligible voters, I considered a population of about 2.5 million which had the majority of the subset who presented at the polling stations at wards with their cards whose names where either omitted or swapped to a distant ward.
Now if INEC decided in its perverted(permit my usage of that word) wisdom to alter the voters register barely a week to the election just few months after it had announced it had weeded the register of phantom voters which gave Anambra about 2.4m. A week to the election they came again with a figure of about 1.8m and they could not paste the revised register in most of the wards. In fact, in my ward the list only came with the adhoc staffs on the morning of the accreditations. I am sure INEC blamed computer for such a tattered register
Will you then not work your denominator of total eligible voters on the population that came out to vote with their cards but were either told of the new development of a week old revised register? That to me are the eligible voters with which I derived the voter apathy syndrome
My concern is to identify the causes of voter apathy (with reference to the past incidence ) and the solutions to it. Without dwelling much in the past, let me quickly recall the events of the supplementary elections with the expected harvest of voters in the Idemili North axis. Previously, we worked with a voting population of about 180,000 distributed across over 200 units in that area, but by the time of supplementary elections a week after the disputed elections INEC again its wisdom had dropped this figure to about 100,000. Now for you to know that apathy towards the credible conduct of elections is progressives like APC. Most of the wards had just an average of 20 voters showing up, with some having just 4 persons people went about their normal business
I am not trying to indict INEC wholly in the high prevalence of voters apathy, however, any event that will reduce the credibility of an election is in itself a major culprit. Hopefully, with the shift in date of the elections, INEC should have more time to plan for its exigencies and logistics ensuring that the PVCs are in the hands of legitimate voters

Politics / Re: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by Cuche: 5:14pm On Feb 06, 2015
The issue is here again, this time with a much uglier presentation.
What issue? Low turn out of voters
Anambra State is among the States with the highest percentage of eligible voters who are yet to collect their PVC. Most persons are disinterested and this may not be unconnected with the way and manner INEC and the script writers conducted the 2013 gov elections in the state.
Voters left their business in different parts of the State, came out in their numbers waited under the Sun while the script writers thought it best to either completely disorganize the register or withdraw it from some areas. Nnewi and Idemili North were worst hit. The result was announced, rejoinders followed. Less than 15% of the voting population of the state determined the results. A phenomenon which many of us knew would set a wrong precedent
Next Chief Victor Umeh was to speak, according to him on Silverbird tv, there was nothing wrong with that he posited that even when only a tiny fraction of voting population voted it does not invalidate or discredit an entire process
Before him Chief Ubah of LP, he spoke almost coming to tears that election rigging where people will come out to vote with their cards only to be told they registered elsewhere, Somebody who registered at Nkwo ward is told to check his/her name at Ichi ward II will have consequences in future
Enters PDP publicity Secretary, Chief Metuh via telephone, he declared the entire process was okay and re-affirms the faith of the electorate in the conduct of the election. Feeders had it Olisah was nowhere near Anambra during the election
A very low turn out of voters makes hijackings of ballot boxes, thumbprinting of excess ballot papers in the comfort of Hotel suites much easier for election riggers. It may favour one yesterday but today it can be in favour of another.
How do we handle the increasing voter apathy?
To be Contd.

In addition to providing police Booth, one issue on my mind is concerning the mobility support given to the police by State Governments not just in Anambra State
Can't imagine a 2010 hilux that is just about 6 years old looking so badly handled like nobody cares. Is it because it was 'dashed'
Those vehicles can't chase a 1998 Sienna under the command of robbers without losing its dynamics
We can continue in that wastage when am even looking forward to completing a number whereby every village has a police van strategically located within it.
Culture of maintenance must be imbibed by our police officers Govt should assist them with workshops if that could help. This carnage is too much

No preceding govt is discussed in Isolation. There is always room to draw comparison especially when things bordering on policies are brought up. Such comparisons help people in rating any successive govt. So today GEJ and OBJ can be compared, in the course of such comparisons uncomplimentary remarks can arise.
There is no point hating anybody. Obi comes across as a nice man who I will not fail to accord respect on that premise i.e. I'll greet him with a smile (you know) and talk with him respectfully but on the issue of what he did and what he didn't do with Anambra I will not be deceived

Bro,
I am not here to debate well known facts. I guess Obiano was a former Senator, House of Rep. or even Local government chairman that we all knew about him before he beat even Peter Obi's SSG Oseloka Obaze, Mrs Ekwunife or Soludo to become the gubernatorial candidate?
Ngige even used to make a mockery of Obiano wearing Obi's image while campaigning to be governor. grin
Obiano himself said he used to read about the aspirants on newspapers and hoped for the best man to prevail. He didn't know he would be that man.
He said so but when the chips are down the Governors anointed will 'everly' win the primaries. Don't ask me how that is possible
Ask this candidate to withdraw interest, force the delegates to tow a line, compensate the others with appointment and cash. Then the winner takes it all

Peter Obi was not a saint. He doesn't have to be.
Gov. Obiano simply became a governor because Anambra trusted whomever Peter Obi endorsed to succeed him. It says something about the man Peter Obi.
Does he agree he is not a saint
I disagree with the last paragraph. Obiano didn't become Governor simply for that your reason above. He was fought from with APGA the issue was he just came from 'nowhere' to usurp the coveted seat of APGA Gov aspirant from the foundation members
I for one, did not trust any candidate Obi anointed although I was convinced that such a candidate will win because of Federal might and interference ab initio. My main consolation at that time was that no such Governor who wants to make a difference in the State will honour any criminal agreement made with Obi.

Why must Obiano plaster his picture on all of his projects in Anambra? Its not cool at all. Even roads undergoing minor refilling of potholes normally have a small sign post with the inscription "willy is working" on them. Its embarrassing if you ask me.
That reminds me of Theord Orji's pictures everywhere in Abia State
The most disgusting is the issue of his image and that of late Ojukwu on Ankara worn by his assistants , imported from the previous administration

I already know that Peter Obi's performance was exaggerated by his paid image laundering group. Most of his highly rated performances are still in the Plan which unfortunately accumulated dusts in his shelf while he tried to outsmart himself
I am also aware he can't write. The only article he wrote in recent times about Buhari and age (I shared in the sentiment) lacked class. The editors did a poor or difficult job with it, there were many direct importation of Igbo expressions into English
So Whatelse will Soludo tell me about a man so cunning like Peter?
However, I think the Professor should wait till after elections, the timing of his expositions made it look like he was hired

The debate was interesting, I think the time allotted was too small both men would have loved to say more, they are both passionate about their candidates
I would love to see both GMB and GEJ on such a platform let me quickly add that the best debater is just a product of acquired or innate skills which does not always translate to performance if elected
GEJ administration is slow in performance he could have done somethings much rapidly as expected by the average Nigerian. However, Nigeria is a big Case and I think part of the compounding is as a result of long years of military or pseudo military rule (with OBJ in mind) where some vital decision affecting us is not intellectually debated or in cases where they are debated it is not without the overbearing influence of the executives as we had during OBJ pseudo Democratic rule. President Jonathan has largely allowed debates on his policies with less interference on the legislature and/or the judiciary and that inadd has allowed a relatively credible elections
The fact that Buhari truncated an evolving democracy paving way for close to 15 years of military rule and another 8 years of pseudo military rule morally disqualifies him from seeking to be elected to rule Nigeria. Anybody giving him the impression that he's gonna rule this country again is at best elevating him to imaginary god of greek mythology which in actual sense gives one a passive feeling of greatness

Obi did not fully PAY for all the projects he initiated before he left, he only mobilized his contractors collected his cut(commission). Some of the mobilizations were hugely unethical common sense will tell you that such mobilizations enabled him to get a fair cut as his time was drawing to an end
Further payements are made stage by stage and some of those projects were renegotiated. The issue of how much he left behind is highly contentious, he said over 70 billion in savings, I don't believe him one bit

Actually Chime did very well in Enugu. Not that Obi did nothing But priority wise, if am to score them I will give Chime an A where Obi gets a C. Obi's performance was over bloated by his paid propagandists which unfortunately included some Catholic and Anglican priests.

You will not understand this now, but by the time Obiano had worked for 4 years, you acknowledge that Obi did little which was exaggerated. As a check, do you know that what Obiano received in the past one year is less than the average cash Obi got yearly in his 6-8 years spell. Can you spot the difference?

Obi got by far more money than Chime during the period under review owing to his closeness to the president which is good. And at a period when there was increased sharing of ECA and the rests
Chime's contractors are at work in the villages of Enugu, divided into Zones. Go to Udi, Oji -River, Nssuka they're close by the Catapillars are there working

The implication is deep!
I know the average IQ of local voting population, by running a jingle on Radio and saying "vote umbrella for president and rooster for other electives..'' is dangerous especially to APGA. Uninformed ones will just recall Umbrella (first in the jingles) and flatly vote it for every elective posts, leaving APGA with the votes of the elite.
He may have other motive(s) though
That's the point
On the surface the jingle looks harmless, it takes a wise man to see it has a lot of subtle meaning. APGA is part of the election in Sen, Reps and State Houses of Assembly. It is widely believed that apart from the former governor's job as deputy camp. director for GEJ he's also working to ensure victory for some PDP candidates in those other areas and that was never part of the understanding reached with GEJ re-election bid.
And for an aid who was a part of the former administration to raise such jingle brings of the issue of whose interest he was serving

Obiano deserves commendation for re-visiting the State Workers remuneration. This will surely bring some relief to the workers considering the surging inflation rate

I have said it before that aids and PAs should be careful with the statements they make on behalf of their principals. Joe Uzodike of all people should know that before you make some statements let the principal, some other persons with the same goal analyse and edit such before it is released.
Me, personally thinks the sanction meted to Joe Martins Uzodike is as a result of his not defining in clear terms where his loyalty lies. Obi is no longer the Governor, if Obiano retained them to work with him they must be completely loyal to him and demonstrate it. Loyalty to one's master does not make one an enemy to one's former master. It is just a job that loyalty and commitment can't be sidelined
This should sound as warning to other PAs, SAs and whatever who were carried over from the previous administration
However, Obiano should show some mercy. Was Uzodike queried before now

Peter Obi could have easily gone down in memory as the best Governor of Anambra State, the reason is that he had a team of solid think tanks that adviced him on what to do with Anambra. His greed and hurry to become the richest dude in the State limited his implementation of the projects
The moment Goodluck added him to the economic team, I knew there was something amiss. My immediate impression was that corruption and money laundering will be phenomenal, here is somebody whose experience in banking was at a time when Bank Ex were specialist in siphoning raw cash. The unlucky CEOs were caught our man knew his onions in the business and always escaped the hook.
Anambra is different, Ezeife was made to return N300million in a now defunct bank to Anambra account in 1995. I have a strong belief that Obi's case will not be different and we talking of staggering billions this time

Although, I don't like Buhari's method, he will not win anyway, but somehow sometime Obi will be forced to make the returns to Anambra
For those saying he constructed roads over 90% of the roads he did at standard costs per Kilometer are laden with pot holes. The fiscal prudence of such roads is highly questionable
