FamilyRe: My Husband Has Refused To Pay Back A N5m Loan I Got For Him – Wife by Curiouscity(m): 5:40am On Aug 02, 2018
While I abhor domestic violence in any form, I have a question or 2 about the said loan. Where did the woman borrow the money for the husband (abi horseband)? Bank, friend, relative or herself? Was the husband carried along during the loan procurement?

Some spouses are in the habit of telling their partners that the money is a loan from somewhere, whereas, it is their money. If the partner discover this, then that money is gone. Men and women alike.

Be it as it may, it shouldn't lead to physical abuse.
PoliticsRe: Akwa Ibom: Government To Resuscitate Abandoned N5.8 Billion Ibom Science Park by Curiouscity(m): 10:43am On Jul 30, 2018

Nice development. That science park would have been the next big and best thing in Akwa Ibom but Akpabio played petty malicious political games with it in order to spite ex Governor Attah, the initiator . Thank God Udom is smarter, he understands projects that are of economic importance to the state.
I am not sure you have all the facts. Have you read how much was spent by the Attah's administration, yet nothing to show? Akpabio is not a saint, but no need to blame him even when I know people loyal to Attah never liked him.

How many projects initiated by Attah did Akpabio complete and how many did he abandon? Why is it that of all projects he completed only this one was done to spite H. E. Obong Attah?

FamilyRe: Why We Need To Rethink Transgender In Nigeria ( Photos ) by Curiouscity(m): 9:58pm On Jul 16, 2018
Amakavula:
I was on Instagram and base on recommendation, I followed a really pretty lady who is a Nigerian model in the UK.

The Nigerian transgender Miss Sahara, who I followed for a while was called a "former man" by a fan, which surprised me because I never knew she was and after some googling I found she was actually one.

Now there is the dilemma, without prior information very few , including me will never know that she is a Transgender. She had made a smooth transition from a male to female and looked more female than some females I know. But a lot of Nigerians are still refusing to see this ad call it an abomination.

This worries a lot as sh is a great lady and would definitely do good if only Nigerians were more accepting and opened minded.

Should we keep judging people who don't fall within our sets of believe or the natural duality of nature or Sex ? If we can believe genetics can affect size, nature, and health why is hard to see it could also affect the sexual hormones too.

Some people are born with an imbalance and should be able to opt for which ever sex they deem fit. What is your opinion on the matter ( matured thinkers please )
Maybe you need to watch this YouTube video by Dr. Michelle Cretella.

FoodRe: A Little About Wine by Curiouscity(m): 3:49pm On Jun 28, 2018
agricignite:
True wine is a product of grape. Acceptable wine can also be produced from different fruits, flowers and berries. These are usually referred to as country wine, which are comparable to commercial wines of similar type. Wines can also be made from vegetables, grains, leaf shoot and herbs. Different fruit of importance in winemaking include plantain, banana, oranges, guava, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, passion fruit, watermelon, pawpaw, jackfruit, cashew, and so on. These fruits are produced in Nigeria in commercial quantities. When in season, these fruits are available in commercial quantities far in excess of what can be consumed as fresh fruit. - See more at: http://agricignite.com/a-little-about-wine/#sthash.Kmb08PZb.dpuf
Do Nigerians really care about wine making? They just wanna drink. They don't even accept that they drink wine or alcohol on a public forum like this. Yet everyday millions of Naira worth of wine is consumed.

A friend of mine is still fighting for his life in same Akwa Ibom state because of this same kerosene explosion. He lost his daughter to that explosion, and the second child just got discharged from the hospital last week after roughly a month in the hospital.

Why are people this wicked? Do the sellers use this same products they sell to unsuspecting public?

AgricultureRe: Tomato Glut Hits Katsina Markets As Price Crashes To N300 From N5000 A Basket by Curiouscity(m): 11:01pm On Jun 19, 2018
Thinking of a way to make money and also save humans some stress..

Since this is not the first time of having such experience in the north, how come tomato paste factory isn't crossing peoples mind..
We buy all and make nice paste and keep for the later part of the year...
Not that the idea of paste factory haven't crossed people's minds. There are lots of factors inhibiting the realization of such ideas. In 2016, I wrote a proposal for a medium sized paste and vegetable canning factory. I sent it out to money bags that were shouting that they want investment opportunities. No positive response till date.
I think these factors go against this idea:

- Vested interest. Only certain group of people are allowed or believed to be good to go into certain business. If you try going in, you get crushed.

- No protection for small and medium scaled industries from being crushed by the Giants, who sometimes are foreign owned.

- Our apathy for "made in Nigeria " goods. We rather patronize inferior goods from Asia than buy goods made in Nigeria.

- Cost of production: Due to the fact that you will provide your power, water, costly transport cost, etc, the final overhead cost of running a medium sized business is beyond reach for many. The cost of production per unit item is not competitive with imported items produced with cheap labour in Asia.

Nigeria is a good place to do business because of the market size. But the listed factors make it sometimes improbable.

Very possible to domesticate.
I have a project that will require low temperature (16-20°C) over many months. I was considering the zeer pot kinda system, but the old women that produced clay pots in my area have gone to the great beyond.

How cold can the system above be? I am looking at making a whole room with this material. But I think a prototype will be helpful.

AgricultureRe: Boosting Food Production In A'ibom by Curiouscity(m): 10:01pm On Jun 01, 2018
Nice Show!

But I have some concerns. Where is the feeder farm that would be providing the cassava to be processed. The entire land at Ikot Ekang AKADEP station can't produce upto 200 tonnes of cassava in a year. Given the production capacity of this plant, if another source of cassava is not available, it would soon go moribund like the one established in early 2000s at Ibesikpo Asutan by Obong Victor Attah's administration.

NextDayPP:
All income. I mentioned earlier that I didn't have to clear the portion as I was using it for vegetables from late last year to February this year. After planting, weeding was done twice by me. Below is the breakdown of expenses plus cost of clearing and weeding in the area, assuming I had have to do all those.

1. 2kg of premier seed...........1000
2. 2 paint buckets of urea.,.......1600
3. Clearing. .........4000
4. Weeding (twice) ..........6400
Total. ..............#13,000
Total income ............#57,600
Profit. ......... #44,600

Total income could have reached #70,000, but the good thing is I know WHY it didn't. That is the area to work on next time. My actual target was #80,000. Please don't say I'm taking it too far, remember I keep talking about the timing, if i had planted 2 weeks earlier it could easily be achieved.
44600NGN is still good for 2 plots of maize. Aside this, you have learned some vital lessons that will help you improve upon.

Kudos!

NextDayPP:
My question when I started this thread was, how much can one make from 2 plots of maize farm. I made 57,600.. I also said I would harvest between 1st and 3rd of May. My harvest was done 2nd and 4th. About 80% on the 2nd, while the remaining 20% was 2 days later. I want to also point out that my 2 plots was about 4 rows by 120f less. I also gave out to a lot of ppl because it was very close to the village. One thing that reduced my income heavily was the attack of birds. I was told by the locals that it was that bad because I was the only one with matured maize around, more so that the area is close to a river and and swamp. I believed the locals submission because it makes sense.
The 57600NGN, is it profit after expenditures or all income?
If profit, then you do well. You can build on that.

Equity or equality is just alien to some people. They are happy when it favours them, but when it doesn't, they scream blue murder. These are the same people condemning some states for enacting the Anti-open grazing law in their states. Some Nigerians feel more entitled than others and this is unfortunate.

Atouke:
Abong Owo song idem o, am not an agent of Udom but a proud and satisfied citizen of Akwa Ibom. Am proud of our gov.
First Industrialization is a process and not a destination, You guys are quick to dismiss the tooth pick and pencil factory, But here's the deal. do you know that the Factory was for a long time producing below capacity not because of lack of raw materials or electricity, but because of the lackadaisical attitude of the youths employed there, they were late, lazy, not fast and feeling they could do better or earn more money else where, it got so bad that they were unable to generate enough income to pay even their own wages. Some were weeded out and others learnt and improved on the job. the factory is backon track now. and a plastic factory has been added to the pencil and toothpick factory.

Lessons learnt. Our youths had no idea what working in a manufacturing factory setting was, but now they have learnt and are improving and honing their skills, that experience you can never buy in the market.
It must start somewhere, those guys now working and growing those cottage industries will some day use that experience to run a heavy industry some where. Udom has put Akwa Ibom youths through manufacturing industry training in just 2yrs 10 months on the saddle.
That is Huge

on the chocolate factory, No factory exists without raw materials, there is an ongoing coco revolution in Akwa Ibom as we speak i will not elaborate further Mbak Mme ndito Idiok esit. hundreds of akwa ibom youths were trained by experts from Ghana on prunning and modern. techniques of cocoa farming.
Do you know that for years our cocoa products were counted for cross river state because we didnt produce enough to warrant or attract a produce board in Akwa Ibom. All that is changing as we speak. Ete ubom Its a good time to be an Akwa ibomite under Udom. Alot of common sense changes are happening and more are on the pipe line.

For you to call the cottage industries as the only industrialization effort of this governor is being economical with the truth. Have you heard of the syringe factory? the largest one in africa. the only other one in Africa is in South Africa and this one in Onna is many times the size of the
SA one in terms of capacity.
How about the electricity meter manufacturing plant?
How about the revived peacock paint.
the kings flour mill under construction.
The Coconut oil refinery under construction
St gabriel coconut plantation ?
etc
Udom Has more Akwa Ibom people working permenent jobs in the private sector than any governor in our history as a state. is it enough? the Answer based on the level of unemployment is capital NO, but the journey has began, the process is on course and we also need brilliant Akwa Ibom people like you to come and help. it is called private sector for a reason not Government sector.
Abasi udoing fien.
Thank you for taking your time to respond to my suggestions. And also responding to everyone on the thread. Very kind and generous you especially as someone who is not an agent of the government.

Sadly, you left the insecurity part out from your response.

Anyways, on the industrialization aspect, I count only functional companies that are in production, not those under construction. So Peacock paint which is hardly sustainable on it own and the pencil /toothpick companies are what I can count. But then how many people do these 2 employ? Though I recognize that the construction of those other ones have a good number of Akwa Ibomites as workers, but they are not yet industries.

I totally agree with you on the attitude of our youths towards factory work. This is caused by availability of quick money from politicians. I have experienced this myself when I did some data collection in Uyo 4yrs ago.

Like you said, we need private investors to come in. But how do I come in where I can not guarantee the security of my staff or investment? We need to tackle this small insecurities before they get out of hand. More so, intimidation by vested power in government is another challenge in government. Imagine being asked to bribe someone in millions before a company is given C of O? Because they company belongs to someone who may not support a given political interest, a C of O is denied. Will this help the state? Or do I have to support a politician before investing in my state?

You mentioned the training of youths in cocoa farm management, but from experience, vested interest will not allow these one offer their best. As an example, many people were trained as aircraft maintenance engineers and fire officers for the QUO by the government , but as at today, they are just mere civil servants in different ministries. Their skills rendered redundant by some vested interest. So proper arrangements be made adequate utilization of this investment in their training.

Da, yak nwed idahado. But all I want is a well rounded development in Akwa Ibom state. It is our only state and I hope to be an employer of labour soon in my own state.

Oga, I can see second term campaign in progress. I can also see you are his agent or close to his kitchen cabinet, as such I want to pass some messages to our dear governor.

Have you ever heard the slogan, "ndito edidia nso"? He should look into this area as promised in his campaign promises. The much touted industrialization is not visible or should I say yet to start. I know you may quickly point at the pencil and toothpick companies, but that is too negligible to a government's project. Let our dear governor give tax relief for say 3-5 yrs to companies ready to move to the state or already operating in the state but ready to employ a certain number of the indigenes. We have cocoa at Ikono/Ini, can he encourage a chocolate company to move in? The governor may also want to revisit the initial mandate of AKIIPOC and see if there is something he can pick for proper and sustainable development. The money the state is losing and indigenes rendered unemployed by the departure of managing contractors at Meridien Hotel and the state silver jubilee hospital could be avoided if a robust strategy was in place.

The road infrastructures are good, but good roads in the cities and rural areas without security is useless as no one can come to the to do business in the atmosphere of insecurity. For example the internal road at Obong University may not deliver the expected dividends if the level of insecurity in that region (along Etim Ekpo- Iwukem, Ukanafun axes) goes unabated. The is insecurity in nearly every senatorial district in the state. I think the Oduma security outfit should be extended to rural areas in addition to Uyo metropolis.

Abasi Odiong Akwa Ibom State ye ofri owo!

In the example NAFDAC gave, they said that the company's approval expired since 2006. Meaning that they approved the product before. In that case, can they still say the product is fake?

I think NAFDAC should always differentiate between unregistered, illegal and fake products. That a product is unregistered doesn't make it fake. And a fake product that is registered is not and can never be genuine. Lots of loopholes in NAFDAC's terminologies.

Also, is it not proper for NAFDAC to have a list of approved products on their site (they used to do that before) so the media houses can cross check rather than call or write to their office?

I wonder why "ogogoro" is still classified as fake drink. That it is not registered does not make it fake. Does NAFDAC go to all the facilities producing gins brought into Nigeria to see if the production is different?

During prohibition in USA, the people produced "moonshine " to drink while evading the heavy tax. Moonshine is exactly what we call "ogogoro" here. After prohibition, all moonshine producers were allowed to register and get licensed. Most of them produce what we drink today as "original". Why must we define our products by other people's standards?%
