You are not in Eket to know what the people need. To the best of my knowledge, I have not seen or heard of one single man from Eket complaining about this project. You cannot feel the pinch in a shoe worn by another man.

In the North, governors spend thier resource to construct huge mosques and sponsor thier people to Mecca, whilst there are no schools, hospitals, roads or industries. And the people like it like that. To every Mallam, his kettle.

By the same token, the biggest weakness, and the most debilitating factor that Nigerian ruling political class capitalize on to perpetrate horrible leadership and misrule on the country is the short memory of the people.

Even atrocities perpetrated by this same Buhari govt just last year have all been forgotten by Nigerians. Does it surprise anyone that El-Rufai, and Garba Shehu were PDP sympathizers serving and defending OBJ govt with thier lives. Now they claim all the atrocities we are witnessing under Buhari's govt was actually perpetrated by a govt they were active participants. Key actors of this govt are really shameless

God bless our northern Governors!

Modernization of Almajiri school is the best thing to ever happen to the north!

These children now have a future!

Among them we have future public officers!

Among them we have future leaders!

The north is gradually heading to the right direction!
Why must the focus of Northerners always be on the bolded. Their highest aspiration is always to land govt job, sit in government offices, drive govt cars, live in govt houses, go for treatment abroad on govt expense, etc.

Why not such aspiration like producing future engineers, medical doctor, lawyers, finance experts, biochemists, pharmacists, research scientists, entrepreneurs, etc. Their worldview always begins and ends on dependence on govt. When they call them parasites, they will protest, but they are admitting it with their own mouth.
EducationRe: New Kano Almajiri Boarding Schools (Photos) by cuteboy2:
These ones that are overgrown with weeds and the walls are cracking already? Are those structures really new? If yes, Why are the walls cracking so much? Where are the students?

Me I have learnt to take anything put out by Ganduje and Buhari's govt with a healthy dose of scepticism, because of their love for spewing lies and deception. They just went to one existing primary school to take pictures after school has closed to deceive us as usual.

If they truly built and started new almajiri schools, they will be very proud to show us the children in class. After all, they have thousands of Almajiris that they deported among all the Northern states during outbreak of Covid-19 earlier this year.

Why build new ones anyway, (if they are really new)? Why not simply reactivate the better equipped almajiri schools that Goodluck Jonathan built for them? GEJ's almajiri schools had real students complete with free uniforms, books, and computers. It is the same Northern governors and thier so-called leaders who discouraged thier people from attending those schools, since it is against their culture

Who has ever heard of this voodoo Kano-Katsina-Maradi Corridor Master Plan, which didn't exist until Buhari took office in 2015?

Minister for Transport, Rotimi Amaechi gave one set of justification yesterday. Garba Shehu has come out today to give a different set. You people can keep lying to yourselves.

Aba and Onitsha alone generate over 100 times more import/export economic volume than the entire Niger Republic. And they pay thier import duty unlike Niger that always asks for huge duty waivers. Why is Buhari's govt not rushing to construct railway to those places if leveraging economic gain is the motive?

International trade indeed. How much goods does poor landlocked Niger Republic import that we should go and borrow $1.9b to build railway deep into thier country?

A poor drought ravaged country that depends on Nigeria 100% for fuel and free electricity. Can you show us the section of that railway in Niger that Niger has spent thier own money to build?

Who doesn't know that Buhari is just spending Nigerian money to help his kith and kin in his ancenstral village of Maradi?

Have you forgotten that officials from Maradi came to join Buhari in his 2015 election campaign?

You cannot efficiently evacuate goods to towns and cities your country by importers in Benin, Makurdi, Jos, Aba, Onitsha, Bauchi, Maiduguri, etc, yet you are rushing to spend heavily to help a foreign country.

If $1.9billion was invested in internal rail system within Nigeria, or in building primary and secondary schools and in Northern Nigeria, would that not solve the embarrassing almajiri and out of school children begging in traffic in Abuja, Lagos and all over Nigeria?

Arrewa:
The obvious economic rationale is to encourage Niger to make Apapa port its main port for import/export using Lagos - Kano Rail line.

Whoever has the most efficient Rail System to deliver move goods and services between the targeted countries and the Atlantic Ocean takes the biggest pie of International trade from them.

Kano-Niger Republic rail line: PDP, CSOs, others attack FG as FEC approves $1.96bn project

• 248-km rail to link Kano, Katsina, Jigawa states to Maradi, Niger Republic

The Federal Government on Wednesday approved a $1,959,744,723.71 contract for a rail line that would link Nigeria to Niger Republic.

The approval was given at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, told State House correspondents at the end of the meeting that the money approved for the development of the proposed rail line linking Kano-Dutse-Katsina-Jibia and to Maradi in Niger Republic was inclusive of Value Added Tax.

The rail line is designed to connect three Northern states – Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states – as well as seven senatorial districts.

The 248-kilometre line is expected to aid the transportation of crude oil to Niger Republic.

But the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and some civil rights groups took a swipe at the Buhari regime, saying the project was a misplacement of priority in a country facing intractable problems of insecurity and harsh economic conditions arising from hikes in fuel price and electricity tariff.

Besides the rail project, Amaechi disclosed the council also approved the award of contract worth N3.049bn for the design, manufacture, supply, testing and inauguration of one railway crane for the purposes of clearing rail tracks during accidents.

If it wasn't clear before that Buhari has more affinity with his kith and kin in Maradi, Niger Republic, this is another proof.

He is taking $1.9 billion chinese loan to construct rail line to a poor landlocked country where his ancenstral home is. The rest of the country will be saddled with the pain of repaying this loan for generations to come. You can now understand why officials from Maradi came to campaign with him during the last election.

What is the economic value of Maradi to Nigeria, when there is no rail link between Aba-Port Harcourt-Benin-Lagos? When will Southerners wake up and remove the scales from thier eyes?

The 24hr electricity Niger republic is getting from PHCN they are not paying a kobo for it. What kind of country is this?

Immediately I saw "President Buhari is determined to....bla bla bla", I just stopped reading the lies and propaganda. Going round to compile the struggles and sweat of a few agric entrepreneurs and claiming them as Federal govt achievement, is the normal lies and deception of this government.

If you really want to know the truth about the parlous and sorry state of farming in Nigeria go and talk to the following:

1) Erisco Foods who believed the lies of this govt and invested heavily to set up tomatoes puree processing plant. Nigerian Customs colluded with importers and smugglers to flood the market with imported tin tomato. The man shouted and got tired. At the end he closed the factory down.

2) Dangote set up tomatoes puree factory, same thing happened. He closed the plant down because banditary and killing of farmers by herdsmen ensured the plant did not have enough tomatoes to keep it running.

3) Large scale rice farmers in Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, and many Northern states cannot go thier farms due to killings and kidnappings by fulani herdsmen.

4) Air Marshall Alex Badeh former Chief of Defense Staff was trailed and brutally murdered in an ambush along the Keffi – Abuja expressway on the evening of the 18th of December 2018 on his way back from his farm. His farm is now a no go area, and abandoned for herdsmen to graze on his rice farm.

5) In Southern Kaduna, Gov El-Rufai is implementing his own version of religious progroms, and systematically wiping away hundreds of Christian farming villages. Farmers are now refugees in IDP camps. They can't access thier farms due to unrelenting killings and kidnappings. El-Rufai's indolent son refers to this mindless killings as "sweet revenge".

6) In Kwara state, Ex-naval chief, Vice-Admiral Samuel Afolayan's, 20 hectares of orange plantation, 20 hectares of cassava farm and 5 hectares of palm plantation was burnt by herdsmen.

The farm was about 500 hectares and damages were out at over N200 million.

To put it in his words, Admiral Afolayan said
“The burning of my farmland has become an annual routine".

President Buhari and his IG of police kept mute. Till date no single herdman or culprit has been apprehended. Agric revolution indeed!! angry undecided

7) Many rice farms of prominent Benue and Plateau public figures who spoke up against the obnoxious Buhari cattle colony and subsequently the rubbished RUGA, were simply set ablaze by herdsmen and whatever was left was grazed on.
Buhari again pretended nothing was amiss. As usual, he and his govt played dumb and mute. Till date, nobody has been arrested.

These few examples represent the true face of Buhari's agric revolution. Believe this Agric Revolution lies at your perish

Everytime the truth that Buhari circumvented the admission process by collecting a letter from an Emir to gain admission into Nigerian military school which he was not qualified for, they will start mouthing this US War College short course being equivalent to MSc nonsense, which the war college has since denounced.

Of all his military school classmate from other parts of the country, how many of them collected letters from their traditional rulers to bend and sidestep admission requirements?

Someone is even praising the late Emir of Zauzzau as being a good man because he wrote to the commandant of NDA to admit a Northern student who could not meet the height requirements. He reportedly said in the letter that the school should borrow part of his height and add to that of the unqualified candidate, and the his wish was granted. Why must the rules always be bent for candidates from the Northern part of the country? Why Northerners are not ashamed of theses things including the almajiri begging system beats my imagination

mu2sa2:
I hope you know that in those days to complete secondary school was an achievement in itself. In fact, the handful of university graduates went into the civil service to become permanent secretaries or to academics to become professors. People like Buhari joined the army out of passion and because of the opportunity for training and educational advancement. Buhari went to US War College- his certificate from there is more valuable than the piece of paper your have today with Bsc stamped on it.

Then, I should go and listen to the rant from one ex CBN deputy governor who said many things without saying anything helpful. That's nice. He's more like an average attention seeker.
I believe the term "you guys" refers to El-Rufai, Tinubu, Hadiza Bala, Oshiomole, and infact the entire APC infrastructure. El-Rufai was the arrowhead in the politicisation of the kidnap of chibok girls. It was squeezed and hyped and milked by APC to garner public sympathy and rubbish GEJ govt as incapable of rescuing the girls. Tinubu leveraged the Western press to carry strips and daily countdowns on the number of days Chibok girls have been in captivity. Hadiza Bala, El-Rufai's protege and current NPA MD was an activist in that BBOG movement.

No sooner than election victory was achieved the virulent media political campaign was suddenly stopped. The running of countdown by Nation and other western newspapers were also stopped. Hadiza Bala abandoned the campaign and took up political office. Buhari started shunning and refused to even receive or sympathise with the families of the Chibok girls. The parents and coordinator of BBOG wept and cursed Buhari and APC for using and dumping them.

One of the despicable character of the Buhari govt and it's political strategists is the believe that you can lie and twist facts, and somehow Nigerians with thier short memory will not remember.

"You guys" politicized the BBOG campaign and the tears of those girls will exact retribution from you guys.

Meanwhile, El-Rufai is implementing the religious and ethnic cleansing of christian villages in Southern Kaduna using scorched earth tactics. The blood of those innocent souls exterminated by the blood-thirsty El-Rufai will haunt him and his family for ever. He is angling to be President in 2023, so he can implement the Southern Kaduna killings in a national scale. The nation is waiting for him.
