Sometimes, one cannot help but wonder if Nigeria is cursed. We are hooked on importation even when we have similar or better alternatives locally.

Today, The Nation newspaper reported that Boss Mustapha, the Chairman of the PTF on Covid-19 is reported to have said the following:

“I was reading of the experiences in Madagascar– of why everybody is drinking some solutions that have been prepared. This morning I was sharing with my wife, and I told her that probably I would request that Mr. President allow us import a plane load for a trial".

He had a bedroom talk with his wife that he will ask the President permit him import a PLANE LOAD of Madagascar herbal Covid19 palliatives organic.
These are the bodies Boss Mustapha should be discussing with to coordinate the trial, not his wife:
(1) The Presidential Task Force on Covid-19
(2) Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)
(3) Nigerian Institute Of Medical Research (Nimr)
(4) National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD)
(5) National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
(6) Pharmaceutical Society Of Nigeria (PSN National)

Meanwhile, Prof Maurice Iwu, respected authority in Pharmacognosy has proposed two compounds that already have NAFDAC approval before Covid-19 breakout, for trial to Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnanya Onu. These compounds have shown efficacy in the lab, but he needs FG approval for trial on humans. The drug was previously approved for other ailments, so toxicity is known. He is simply asking for wide scale trial and re-purposing specifically for Covid-19.

For weeks now Prof Iwu has been featured on TVC programmes begging Federal Govt to allow him carry out trails on Covid19 who at the moment are in Federal Govt Isolation Centres. He is being roundly ignored.

Fast-forward to this week. Madagascar just announced it's organic Covid19 solution. Sharp sharp, Boss Mustapha has jumped into action to secure Buhari's approval to import a plane load for trial. Are we cursed as a people to be enslaved to other nations??

I think you are the one who is exhibiting hatred because it is Governor Wike that is involved. If this was Sanwolu or Fayemi there will be applause all round that nonsense is not tolerated in Lagos or Ekiti.

Exemption of electricity workers is not based on self recognition. You must produce an authentic permit when accosted. All healthcare workers, NCDC staff personnel, etc always have with state government issued Covid19 permit. Same thing in Lagos and other states in lockdown.

If the MD of PHED had produced that permit, he would have been on his way. But like all Nigerian big men, when the security men accosted him he voiced his MD status rather than produce a valid permit.

In Info, Gov Akeredolu personally said on TVC on Sunday 10th May that anyone not wearing face mask, will be sent to quarantine in Isolation Centre wether the person has coronavirus or not. Is that not draconian? Yet nobody is shouting and blocking our ears

Are you the one that wrote Rivers State Executive Order number 6? Is it stated there that all MDs of Electricity companies are automatically essential workers. Even if he falls under that category, did he produce the exemption permit on demand?

I don't know why you people are so miffed when a state government decides to enforce rules strictly. It sends a very strong message for would be law breakers, not the yeye we are seeing in Lagos where no one takes Sanwolu's directive seriously.

Rivers is not Ekiti or Ogun or Lagos where bigmanism allows you to be above the law.
If Rivers State decides to prosecute offenders in mobile or regular courts, then the PHED will find himself there eventually. Nothing to bellyache about.

You know one thing, Wike's sense is under his foot. He's fond of exhibiting senselessness before the camera and later reverse himself.

Yesterday, he auctioned people vehicles, their source of income.

Today, you demolished Hotels without considering the fact that he was throwing some people into Labour market.

In these instances, where's common sense?

When he could have seal off the premises of the hotels and charge them to court.

Go to Ekiti or Ogun States, you will see mobile courts everywhere.

Neither. In any case, he was not arrested. He was accosted for violating the lockdown order and taken to the Isolation Centre. If he has an exemption permit, he should produce it.

While I won't for any reason support disobedience to government's orders, he should have fined them heavily before allowing then reopen it. Now, it's loss and losses. He hasn't gain, the hotel managers haven't gain. Rather the governor has attracted more critics.

As usual the governor confirms commercial buses and okadas are flouting the rules. However in applying punishment, he wants to confiscate only okadas.

Lagos State is so scared of touching operators of these small buses known as "small doctor". They flout traffic laws and are the primary cause of most of the traffic gridlocks because they load and drop passengers anywhere they feel like.

I once asked a LASTMA official why they are not arrested, he says if they try it the agberos and NURTW boys will beat them up, and MC Oluomo will back them up

These good for nothing legistla-thieves are just useless busybodies. What concerns them with inapecting isolation centres? Abi they went on excursion as usual. What is then the job of Federal Ministry of Health and NCDC?

They should go back to NASS chamber and and pass good bill to protect small and medium businesses (SMEs) from collapsing and meaningful financial palliatives for poor Nigerians.

When they are done with the above, they should delete those draconian Bills on forceful vaccination and Social Media Bill

Very ignorant comment. Aircrafts are not bought like groundnut. The contract must have been committed to and payment made long before Covid-19 outbreak just few weeks ago.

Also, this is the 4th aircraft acquired under same contract like the first 3. You cannot just wake up and cancel such long term contracts. If you do, you incur serious financial losses.

The story says the aircraft was ready for delivery just before the pandemic hit, they can't leave it parked in Canada else they will incur huge parking fees in foreign currency, so the governor did an excellent job to secure Special dispensation from Aviation minister to fly the plane into Nigeria during this period of flight restriction.

Please let's learn to understand underlying facts before we make emotional comments.
