Not even in USA or Saudi Arabia can one be increasing at such rate in wealth accumulation. No wonder even though Cement prices in Nigeria is about the most expensive in the world our present Government still make policies for it to remain like that.

We have to very careful and consider facts before we comment.
Dangote recognises the abject deficit in social services and infrastructure in the north, inspite of the many years they have been in control of the levers of government. So he is trying to do something about it begining with his home state Kano.

Do you actually think the poor, barely literate masses that will patronise this hospital in Kano will be able to pay the bills if it were to be run as a commercial enteprise? If Dangote wanted to build a commercial hospital, he will almost certainly have sited it in Lagos or around Abuja. Go and check out where most of his companies are located (lagos, Ogun, Kogi, Cross River, etc).

In any case, how many rich men attend hospitals in Nigeria? Even if they have small headache, or feel a bit stressed, they simply hop into an aircraft to go to America or Europe to have a "medical rest".

If only these indolent Northen super rich men and leaders (IBB, Abacha family, Indimi, Dantata, Umaru Mutallab, Atiku, Danjuma, Buba Marwa) could do one-tenth of CSR that Dangote is doing in the North. All they do is send them to pilgrimage and hand out daily meals at the gates of thier mansions. This has caused stampede and loss of many lives of recent, when people trampled each other in a bid to collect food.

These men have stached away unbelievable wealth for themselves thier children and generations yet unborn. But they will never spend a dime to refurbish a dilapidated primary school in thier home town, or build a clinic. They are using this wealth now to stir and heat up the polity and fund violence to claim back power.

Many made their fortune through graft by occupying political office, being incharge of government parastatals, or having exclusive import licence right for things like fertiliser. Others simply siphoned funds from national and state treasuries. President GEJ has now stopped this annual fertiliser scam, and they are very angry about this. Most of the noise about power return and attacks on current govt is rooted in the fact that access to the honey pot and hitherto unlimited access to national treasury to loot has stopped.

Danjuma has made a feeble attempt with his TY Danjuma Foundation, the impact is not much.

I never used any of these but they debited me.

Currently, Northern (read, Arewa since the Middle Belters are not aligned with them any longer)strategy for regaining power at the centre are as follows:

1. Use Boko Haram to cause mayhem, destabilise GEJ Govt and stampede him out of power.
2. Capitialise on any slip up in govt policy to fuel and cause civil unrest (e.g., fuel subsidy removal)
3. Highten social insecurity:
(i) Attack police stations and release prisoners and criminals;
(ii) Attack schools, kill pupils and close down schools
(iii) Attack churches and places of business and drive Southerner and commerce away from Northen cities
4. Insist on taking power through PDP as the only viable political platform. (My thoughts: CPC might just be a better alternative for them).
5. Use thier kith and kin in GEJ's govt to sabotage the govt from within (e.g., Sanusi Lamido (CBN Gov), IG Police, etc).
6. Last resort, remove democratically elected govt via military coup and install a surrogate non-Northener, organise kangaroo election that will result in a a trusted Northen candidate emerging as President.
