I don't get you. If industrialisation puts the blame on the consumer then they, being higher consumers should also be the ones to be blamed. They produce more, consume more, have a higher carbon footprint.
Consuming less is only because Africa is poor and less indusyrialized. Also good whether with little or no need for heating houses.

4. The problem is solvable in O(n) time, not O(1).
I am still waiting for the three parts you talked about. The is a useless question if sorting will automatically break down a list into three parts.

The first one, bigger and more expensive one should be sited in Lagos because of the abundance of water in Lagos to cool the towers and Lagos is known for its excellent capability in managing public affairs, security and valuable, profitable use of public assets.

Electricity from it will serve the industries in Lagos and Ogun states.

The second one may be sited in Rivers State or Ondo to serve the Niger Delta and Abia
There is water also in the north. Taraba and Niger have hydroelectric plants If I remember correctly.

Instead of playing games, show me the three different lists in your solution.
That rubbish you are calling a solution with three list is one sorted list that leaves no room for where list one ends and where list two starts.

You should be practicing and not wasting peoples time.

Calm down, you're the only saying the question is pointless, it justs means you probably don't understand it yet.
Think of it as quicksort's partitioning algorithm, every item smaller than or equal to the pivot goes left of the pivot, greater than or equal goes to right.
for example;
piv = 5, arr = [2,5,1,4,7,3,6]
some valid solutions include:
1. [2,4,3,1,5,7,6].
2. [1,2,3,4,5,6,7].
note that 2 is just the array sorted.

The same goes for the question but with the new constraint that all items equal to the pivot stays at the middle, together with the pivot.
for example;
piv = 5, arr = [5,2,5,1,4,5,7,3,6]
some valid solutions include:
1. [2,4,3,1,5,5,5,7,6].
2. [1,2,3,4,5,5,5,6,7].
note that 2 is also just the array sorted.
sigh.
If I reply you the way I ought to, this thread will derail.
Your own question say we need three new lists. But your solution shows only one list and therefore is incomplete. What you have there is a human readable solution and not a computer readable one.

Lastly, any moniker accepting your clearly incomplete solution is your alternate.

The three parts should be in the original list, i.e lower than x the first section, equal to x next and greater than x last.
If sorting alone is a valid solution then your question is senseless and pointless. Sounds a lot like you looking for clout.

If I need the values less than, equals to, and greater than X, I just loop through and pick the values if it matches my interest. To have three different list within a list. You must know where the less than X values end and note that index in a variable(x_starts for example) then know where greater than X starts(x_ends) in another variable. Any value between is X.

you mean the sorted version of the original list?
It makes no sense to me because I don't know where to start looking at I need just values greater than X.
If really want to obtain values greater than X alone, I need to know where the first value greater than X is then go until I reach the end.
That can be achieves by either looping through one extra time or noting those indexes during sorting(within sorting algorithm).
ProgrammingRe: Solve This Amazon Interview Question by CyberHustle: 6:59pm On Nov 02, 2022

This problem was asked by Amazon.

Given a pivot x, and a list lst, partition the list into three parts.
* The first part contains all elements in lst that are less than x
* The second part contains all elements in lst that are equal to x
* The third part contains all elements in lst that are larger than x
Ordering within a part can be arbitrary.
For example, given x = 10 and lst = [9, 12, 3, 5, 14, 10, 10],
one partition may
be [9, 3, 5, 10, 10, 12, 14].

Can you solve it in strictly O(n) time and O(1) space complexity?
I'd like to see what you come up with.
namikaze:
given x = 10 and lst = [9, 12, 3, 5, 14, 10, 10],
sorting lst would yield: [3, 5, 9, 10, 10, 12, 14].
This satisfies the constraints, no need for further processing.
Please compare the challenge and your solution. Where are the three parts of the original list? That's is less than X, X, and greater than X?

You did not get my point, "return sorted(arr)" is automatically a valid solution, no need to loop through anything.
How will sorting alone help identify array values lesser, equal to and greater than X?

My solution involves sorting it and then looping thru to identify where values lesser than, equal to and greater then X either end or start. If you are implementing the sort algorithm, you could combine both processes otherwise depend on language shipped sorting function then loop thru to know indexes of interests.

Sorting the array only is a valid solution, only issue is the n log n runtime.
loop thru d array, and note the index where X is greater than the value(s) stops and the index where X is less than the value(s) start.
ProgrammingRe: Solve This Amazon Interview Question by CyberHustle: 11:50am On Nov 01, 2022
Modifying my first solution based on how I understand the constraint.

Sort the main array, loop through it until you get to where values equalling X starts. Store that index minus 1 as an integer of where values below X stops. Continue looping until a value above X is encountered and store the index of that as another integer value.

That leaves us with one new sorted array with size n and two int values to identify values less than and greater than X.

ProgrammingRe: Solve This Amazon Interview Question by CyberHustle:

Very concise solution sir

Unfortunately it doesn't satisfy the constraint of space complexity.

To make it understandable for any potential future readers, the space complexity for this problem must be constant->O(1). That means you can't create any auxiliary data structure that isn't of constant size.

In the case of your solution–as well as the other similar solutions posted earlier, you are creating new lists of length n, making the space complexity O(n) which doesn't meet the demands of the question.
If I understand the idea of the constrain you talking about, I believe it is about not creating new list with unknown length right?

I am not a computer scientist nor software engineer so I need to understand that constraint.
ProgrammingRe: Solve This Amazon Interview Question by CyberHustle: 11:40am On Oct 31, 2022
Amazon has a lot of digital record keeping to do and their interview will generally relvolve around task that deals with either structuring records, creating them, reading them, updating them, and analyzing them to make sense of the records or data.
This questions sound similar to when a potential buyer wants to sort search result by specific criteria like price.
X is the price the user chooses and the lower or higher values are the desired/undesired values.

Depending on your chosen language, sort the main list. Push all values below X into list_one, all values equals to X to list_two, and all values above into list_three.

As simple as that.
